“I need this job”
For the last ten minutes, I’ve been rehearsing my apology, pacing around the study room wondering how I got myself into this mess.
Why didn’t I leave when I noticed it was the wrong room, He’s going to fire me. I can’t believe I'm losing my job on the first day, I need this job.
A flashback of his reaction to the incident came to my mind. “That's it, I’m leaving.” I picked my bag to leave when he walked in.
He looked at me intently as He entered, then limped to his desk with his clutches without uttering a word.
I was confused by his actions, should I apologise or just leave?
He sat on his desk and looked back at me “What’s your name?”
“Mia Austin”
“I can see from your resume that this your first time taking the role of a secretary”
“Yes sir”
“You’re to resume 30 minutes before resumption time”
“30 minutes?”
“If you have a problem with that you can quit”
Quit, Ha! not happening, I can’t believe he’s keeping after the undershort incident.
“I don't have an issue with that sir”
“There are some documents on your desk” he said as he pointed at my table “make sure you go through every one of them and submit a report.” then he dismissed me with a wave of his hand
“Sir”
“Yes”
“About what happened earlier, I’m really sorry.”
“ I didn’t know that was your room, I was looking for the study room then I saw the door was opened, assumed it was the study room so I walked in…” I kept rambling on about the whole situation trying to explain myself
“Miss Austin,forget about it”
“Ok sir” I went to my desk quietly and sat down.
That's a good thing, right?
The rest of the day was spent in silence, I arranged the document and memorised the ones I could fit into my head. I tried stealing glances at him, he was so focused on his work, his phone has been buzzing with business calls, I can“t help but be curious about him.
“When you are done staring, you can leave now, Thomas will drop you at your nearest bus stop.”
“Ok sir” I checked my phone, it was 6:00 pm. I didn’t even know how far the day had gone, I picked my bag and bid him goodbye which He ignored.
Walking out of the house I saw Mr Thomas waiting for me in the car. I got into the car and he started the journey.
“How was your day, Miss Mia?”
“It was eventful”
“It’s always like that at the beginning, you will adjust as get used to the job”

“So how long have you been working for Mr Mason?”

“I know but working with the Geralds is one of the best decisions I have made”

I hope I last that long.
Mr Thomas dropped me at my nearest bus stop, then I took the next bus heading in my direction and stopped at my house.
From the hallway, I could hear the sound of the TV. She's at it again. I walked into the apartment and there she was, my best friend Olivia sitting on the couch with a bottle of wine and pizza.
She sighted me and jumped at me “Hey grumpy bear, how was your first day at work?”
“Must the neighbours watch the series with you”
“Yes the louder the better” she said as she went to the kitchen to get me a wine glass.
“ So how was your day?” She asked as she handed me the glass of wine
“It was fine,” I said in a low voice
“What happened?”
“Nothing ever gets past you” she always know when something is up
“You know don’t bother lying”
I sighed, “I walked in on my boss half naked”
“WHAT?”
“I SAID I WALKED IN ON MY BOSS HALF NAKED”
“I HEARD YOU THE FIRST TIME”
“STOP SHOUTING.”
“How did that happen? Was He shagging some girl or something?”
“Well…” I explained to her how I got promoted on my first day, the conditions that come with the work, how I went to his house and how the underwear incident happened.
“Hahahaha” she burst out laughing
“It's not funny”
“To you” she continued laughing
“Ok wait” she held back her laughter “ so you entered the room , you saw it was not the study room, why did you stay?”
“The room was so beautiful, for a broke person like me that’s new, if you were there you would do the same the room screamed luxury, the owner too” I added with a smirk
“Mia!” She exclaimed
“What? There’s no harm in admiring”
“He’s your boss”
“I know, that’s why it’s nothing”
“What if you start liking him?”
“Kill that thought”
“Why?”
“He is giving bipolar and he’s such a neat freak”
“Stop, you can’t blame him, he’s been through a lot.”
I looked at her confused, “umm, how do you know that?”
She looked at me with her eyes almost popping out of its socket “When was the last time you surfed the net?”
“You know I don’t pay attention to those internet gossip”
“You don’t pay attention to internet gossip or you were too in love with Derek”
“Olivia! You know I hate it when you talk about Derek”
“I’m sorry, I didn’t mean it that way.”
“Just forget about it, so what happened to my boss?”
“His ex wife cheated on him with one of his top competitors which led to him getting drunk and getting into a car accident.”
“He was married?”
“That’s all you heard.” she said in a sarcastic tone
“No, it’s just I didn’t see any traces that showed a woman lived in that house.”
“That’s understandable, he clearly doesn’t want any memorandum of his ex wife”
“Yeah that's true, I also did the same thing after Derek” I remember changing states after my last relationship.
“You know the two of you share a lot of similarities, maybe something can happen in the future,” she said with a sly smile.
“Dead it” I tried to be serious but I couldn’t keep a straight face, this clown always wins.
I went to my room to shower and prepare for the next day, the thought of my boss crept up again. I lay on my bed, picked up my phone, and googled his name.
There were a lot of news posts under the search, from his success story as the new CEO of Zeus enterprise to his failed marriage and the car accident. The comments under each post were outrageous, how did he not sue them? I went through every post till I blacked out.
