Realm of the Gods - 14 years ago.
"You found our daughter! " Boomed the Sun God as he stood up and raced toward the Forest Goddess, whose eyes opened wide with shock. "Where is she? I command that you tell me now!" The Sun God demanded fiercely.
The Forest Goddess stammered as the full force of the Sun’s God aura was on her. "My, My Lord ....she is in the Northern Forest in the mortal realm. In a country called Riverwell."
"We shall go to her now and bring her home!" The Sun God replied with a smile. "We have waited for her for far too long.."
"Sorry to be the bearer of bad news ...But, you can’t do that." The Crone Goddess said sternly. No other being would dare have used this tone, but nobody else was like the Crone.
"How dare you?" The Sun God asked angrily.
"Brother, just shut up and listen with that thick skull of yours! I want my niece back as much as anyone. BUT... SHE'S... MORTAL! The laws state that we cannot interfere directly with any mortal life without a bargain being struck. Even if you do manage to bring her back here, she will die until the conditions of the curse have been fulfilled. Her soul will be lost to the Realm of the Dead. So, unless you want to make it up with our brother, I suggest you wait. Trust me, I know what I am talking about with curses!" The Crone said as she made a chair appear, which she sat on with a sigh.
"That she did!" thought Richard bitterly.
When a bargain is struck with the Crone Goddess, she could release a curse that would make most mortals and gods weep! You would have to be a fool of a mortal to enter into any contract with a god, especially one of revenge! Plus, the God of the Dead was unlikely to give up any souls in his possession. Especially when it was well known that he courted the Moon Goddess, but she chose the Sun God instead. He would not think twice about taking his desire out on their daughter.
"So, what do you want me to do?" shouted the Sun God in frustration. He knew The Crone Goddess was right, but it still frustrated him.
"Let her live the mortal life and endure the six sorrows. The Empress stupidly only banished her from the Realm of Chaos, not all realms. My sister might be a bitch, but she is a stupid one!" The Crone said as she rolled her eyes.
"The six sorrows..but that is..." the Moon Goddess said.
"Yes, yes!" snapped the Crone. "Birth, which she has already done, betrayal, loss, sickness, failure and death."
"But if she dies, won’t she go to the Realm of the Dead?" Asked the worried Moon Goddess.
"At the point of death, the soul is technically unclaimed, therefore, we would be able to bring it here! " The Crone said as she smirked. She loved finding loopholes!
"So, why not just kill her now?" The Forest Goddess looked sorry when she opened her mouth as all of the higher Gods were now staring at her. She quickly bowed her head and whispered, "No disrespect meant!"
The God of the Cats got up, stretched, and walked casually over to the Goddess. He purred, " We know that! It is just if we kill her before the curse is lifted, she will be sent to the dark until she can be reincarnated again." The God of the Cats then sat down and started to clean his paws.
The Sun God growled, "We can not just leave our daughter defenceless! "
In mid-lick, the cat God stopped and said, " Excuse me, Adonis, but you are forgetting two things!"
The Sun God looked shocked at the Cat God using his true name. "Well, two can play at that game!" Adonis thought.
" Pray, do tell Ovinnik, what have I missed?" Adonis said, folding his arms.
"Well, if you insist, Adonis! Firstly, the law about interfering with humans is only for human Gods. Mother Universe and Father Light trusted us animals and wild gods to have more sense. " Ovinnk pointed out.
Richard could have sworn that he could hear the other animal gods laughing. Even the Forest Goddess smiled.
"Just get to the second point, Ovinnik!" Adonis snapped.
"The second is you have a hybrid in this court to whom the rules don’t apply to. Isn’t that right, Richard? " Ovinnik said casually.
Richard was silent for a moment. It was true that his Chaos demon father had mated with a human mother. He was still an immortal as his father’s genes were much more dominant. His mother had named him a stupid mortal name and passed onto the Realm of the Dead.
Richard had grown up in the Chaos army and fought his way to the rank of General. That was all before he met his true mate! The advantage of being a hybrid and the laws did not apply to him or his three friends. "That is great! I can protect her." Richard declared.
"Hold your horses' laddie! The Empress is still majorly pissed at what you did and she does have followers in the mortal world she can use. If she knows the Princess has been reborn, she will try and kill her. You would lead her right to the Princess! " The Crone pointed out
"The Crone is right." The Moon Goddess said firmly.
Everyone looked around as they had not heard authority in her voice for over a thousand years. Her eyes suddenly glowed as she said, "I call upon the Gods of the Cats, Ovinnik and Bastet, to attend to me now. I call upon the Gods of the dogs, Anubis and Bau, to attend my call now. I call upon the Gods of the Horses, Epos and Aine to come to me. This is my will!"
Six balls of light appeared and the animal Gods appeared before the Moon Goddess. The animals bowed their heads in respect and said, " We have heeded your call, Great Moon Goddess!" They were all much larger than their mortal children.
"Thank you, friends, for answering my call; you know that the Empress kidnapped Adonis and I's daughter!" The Moon Goddess said. The Cat Gods hissed, the Dog Gods growled and the Horse Gods stamped their feet. The Moon Goddess waited before she continued, "Calm my friends and rejoice in the news that she has been found! But she is a mortal and needs protection. Adonis and I can not interfere in human lives, but you, my friends, can. Can I ask you to send one of your children to become a guardian of our daughter? This is not a command, but a request, as I know how precious any child is. Be they mortal or God!"
There was a moment of silence before Anubis, a huge dog with fur as black as midnight, spoke, "Dogs have always been allies with humans. My Mate and I will send Amaethon, a battle dog from the Credion Mountains. He will protect and guide the Princess!" Bau's sliver
haired Mate nodded in agreement.Anie, a beautiful fawn coloured mare and the mother of all horses, spoke next. "We will send our mortal child Windsoul, a white mare from the plains of Arna. She will carry the Princess safely wherever she needs to go! "
Her Mate, a pure white stallion, neighed in agreement. Epos had never been more proud of his mate than he was now!
A few moments passed and everyone was staring at the Cat Gods. Finally, Ovinnik spoke, "Well you see..."
Before he could finish his sentence, he was cuffed over the head by the paw of the Marmalade Queen who sat next to him. "Shut Ovinnik, you take things far too far sometimes! You need to know your place, Tomcat! " Hissed Bastet. She arched her back before continuing, "Don’t think I don't know what happens here and the embarrassment you cause your Clowder! "
"Yes, Darling," Ovinnik admitted, looking down.
"Ignore him, Moon Goddess; he knows who rules the Clowder! We will send Night-Song. He will advise and protect the princess. It will be our honour, won’t it sweetie?" Bastet said in a warning tone.
"Yes, Bastet!" Ovinnik said, "I do not dare disobey his Queen.
The Moon Goddess was touched and said, " Thank you, my faithful friends. This won’t be forgotten. We must be careful and not make it obvious that we are sending them. We do not want to raise any suspicion. "
"We will be careful!" Bastet announced.
"Good, because I don’t want that bitch anywhere near my daughter!" The Moon Goddess said this as she narrowed her eyes. She would protect her daughter, no matter what!
14 years later, Jamie’s Home "Look what you've gone and done, you bloody idiot!" A shrill light voice sounded. Jamie was slowly moving towards conscious, but still felt she could not open her eyes. "Too heavy!"she thought. Jamie identified another voice and they sounded very defensive. "It is not my bloody fault, she called me! I am an elemental God, and I carried out her wishes! It is not my fault I destroy the area!" The voice said. "Sounds like a fire Ma cooks on!"Jamie mentally mused. "Yo
Jamie knew that Fairbridge was three days on horseback, which meant a week on foot. Luckily, her hunting knife, bow, and bag had not been damaged. She had walked for over a day and this was her second night in the forest. She had managed to make a fire and was cooking the rabbit that she had caught. "See Ma and Da, I can cook!" A faint smile formed on her lips as she roasted the rabbit. "You know they are dead, right?" An old female voice said. Jamie jumped up and looked around. She saw an old hag with bright blue eyes and crooked teeth. "Who the fuck are you?" Jamie said and felt a sharp tap on her head. "This crone just hit me!" she thought, shocked as she rubbed the point of impact. "Is that a way to speak to your elders, Luvie?" The Crone pointed out. Jamie looked at the old woman. "Apologies, Elder, I was not expecting you in this forest at night!" She said as she bowed her head to show respect. It was true, her behaviour ha
The next morning, Jamie woke up and did as the old woman asked. She looked into the embers of the fire and saw a bead the size of a large marble. It was completely black, but when held up to the light, intricate spirals of oranges, yellows, purples, and reds could be seen. There were also two holes going through the middle, so a string or chain could be put on it. Jamie was not a big jewellery fan, but she had a leather neckless with a small wooden heart on it. It was a gift from her father on her 10th birthday. She quickly untied the leather knot and threaded the black stone and put the whole thing back under her top. Jamie packed up camp and carried on walking. The next four days passed without any incidents. The only strange thing was that Jamie kept having the same weird dream where the old woman was shouting at a v
The last few days of Jamie’s journey went without any more rescues. Fluff was able to hunt for himself and would sit on Jamie’s shoulder. Fluff would often meow in Jamie’s ear and Jamie seems to be able to understand what Fluff was saying. “You're a strange cat Fluff, but I am glad you here!” Jamie mused. She wanted to stay in the Forest, but she promised her Pa that she would go to her Uncle’s. Jamie saw her Uncle Tyrone quite often until he remarried five years ago. His new wife and stepson looked down on Jamie's Ma and Pa. Uncle Tyrone owned the only Pub ordrinking establishment, as his new wife called it, in Fairbridge. The Pub was called The Crone’s Head and was located on the only main road in Fairbridge. Fairbridge was a small town that was on a key road to the Capital City of Riverwell. The town survived on the travellers, but like everything else in the last few years, trade had died. Farmers and tradespeople use to make th
Realm of the Gods,Starlight Barrier Richard’s POV She is running in front of me, her long red hair streaming behind her. "You can’t catch me, Richard!" she shouts and laughs. Her laughter is the sound of the sweetest music I have ever heard. I chase her through the Elemental Forest heading towards the waterfall and bathing pool. "I will catch you and punish you mercilessly!"I thought and smirked to myself. I willed my legs to go faster and faster. Years of military training wereproving useful. Finally, I catch her and have her in my arms."Do
Two years later. Fairbridge - The Crone’s Head Stable Loft Jamie, as per normal, was woken up by Fluff licking her face."Get up, lazy bones. You want to go to the Temple before she finds you!"Fluff mind-linked. "Fluff, I just want five more minutes! " Jamie moaned and turned over in her straw bed and snuggled deeper under the two old horse blankets. Jamie's loft space did not have luxuries, it was always cold and damp. Fluff was g
Jamie was about a quarter of the way home when she started to hear the bustle and panic of people. She turned her to find out what people were shouting about.“Get out of the way, the Lord’s horse is loose!” The Baker shouted.A battalion of men was camped on the outskirts of Fairbridge. They had gone to the plans of Arna to buy horses and dogs that would be trained for use in the army. Arna horses were intelligent and wild, both attributes made them incredible battle horses. They could do as much damage as four trained soldiers.Jamie saw the locals run to the side trying to find cover, a little boy was in the middle of the road shouting “Mama!“Time seemed to slow down for Jamie, she saw the large black Stallion with crazy black eyes speeding down the road. He was heading straight for the boy! Jamie did not even think she ran to the boy and shielded him. The Stallion reared, screeching and wildly p
“It is like I am telling you, Lord Raoul, I woke up and went to the kennels and they are right there! Right in the middle of a pack of Credion mountain hunting dogs!” Exclaimed the Kennel Master.Raoul had known Thorn for a long time and had never seen him so agitated.Credion mountain dogs were wild hunting dogs that could bond with a human if they deemed them worthy. They were Fiercely loyal and protective once they had chosen to bond. But until then they were extremely aggressive and dangerous.“Are they still alive?” snapped Raoul.Unusually for Lord Raoul, he was in a very bad mood. After all his efforts last night an agreement of sale had been reached: 25 Gold pieces, an insulting amount for a human lif
Two weeks later.Jamie had moved back into the pack house and had been on complete bed rest for the week. In the second week, she returned to training. Jamie had also returned to The Cat’s Claw. Eric had been true to his word and not tried to make a move on her. However, Jamie sometimes caught him staring at her longingly. She ignored it as best she could.Raoul and Jamie had not been intimate over the last two weeks. Jamie said she was too tired, but the truth was she had not quite forgiven him. Raoul had been making the effort and was spending a bit more time with Jamie. Jamie, on the other hand, tried to be a bit more understanding. Relationships were about compromising, she thought.Jamie
Jamie, for the second time in 24 hours, woke up in a different place than when she went to sleep. When she stirred, she first noticed she was in a soft bed that was familiar. The second was that there wasRaoul’s large naked body next to her. His arms heldher tightly against him. Jamie tried to move out of his arms, but it causedRaoul stir from his slumber."Five more minutes, Kitten, before we start arguing," he said in a sleepy voice. He nuzzled her neck, and Jamie could feel her heart thawing a bit."Raoul!" Jamie said.
Jamie woke up to find she was on a familiar red velvet sofa. Her head was banging and she felt sick."Urgh!" she moaned as she tried to sit up."Hang on a minute, Fire Sprite." Eric said as he came over to help her into a sit position."I don’t need your help, thank you," Jamie said. She tried to sound cross, but to be honest, her head hurt too much."Well, I can see that,”Eric chuckled. "Here, sip this and take two of these pills. They will help with the sickness and headache. "Jamie did as She was told and soon felt her headache ease. The drink had a slight metallic taste to it. "What is this?" Jamie
Jamie had cried herself to sleep the previous day. She could not believe the person she loved had brought up the fact that he had brought her for 20 gold pieces. Was that all she was worth to him? If it were not for the bond, would he have chosen someone else?Rose came into her room with Fluff. "Morning! How are you feeling?" She said cheerfully."Ok, I suppose." Jamie mumbled."Hmm yes, well, of course everyone knows about the argument you had with Raoul. So it is my mission to cheer you up today. So, how do you feel about going shopping? "Shopping? " Jamie said, confused.
Raoul panicked when he saw the empty room and rushed to find the doctor. He found him sitting in his office writing up some notes."Where is she?" Raoul asked angrily. "Ah, my Lord, good news! She awoke a few hours back and has made a remarkable recovery. It must be her water element coming back. The Luna has been discharged on the condition that she has plenty of bed rest and a proteinrich diet. " The Doctor said happily. Raoul relaxed a little. "So she is back at the pack house resting then?" The Doctor looked a bit uncomfortable. He really did not want to break the news that the Lord’s Luna
Jamie did not have any visions or dreams when she was out, a small mercy which she was thankful for. When she did wake up, she was in a light and airy medical room. She tried to move herself in a sitting position, but she felt every muscle in her body ache.Suddenly, Fluff jumped up on her bed, "Ah, you are awake!" He said happily. Jamie noticed that Sam was sleeping in a chair next to her bed. Her heart sank as she hoped Raoul would be there."He got called away by the King," Fluff said, obviously annoyed at the situation. "He's going to lose her if he doesn't be careful," Fluff reasoned.Jamie nodded sadly as she asked, "Care to catch me up on what I have missed?
Somewhere underground Jamie was slipping in and out of consciousness. She hardly felt the cold anymore and she was so tired. She dreamed of being in Raoul’s arms. "Pathetic! Why do you rely on a man to protect you? You are so weak! You got yourself into this mess, you can get yourself out. Or are you just going to wallow in your own weakness and let this cock scum beat you again?" A cold voice said, inside her head. Just then, she heard the stone slab being moved. Every two hours, the guard would drag her out, beat her and then sling her back into the water dungeon. She had had six beatings so far, and was feeling incredibly weak at this point. Ironically, the cold water had helped with the swelling, but not so much with the broken ribs and the broken nose. The beatings had not been a wasted opportunity. Bit by bit, she looked around the room.
Blackthorn had been pacing all day, which rather annoyed Raoul because he was trying to concentrate on some paperwork. "Blackthorn, can you give it a rest!" Snapped Raoul.Blackthorn growled and said "We need to see Kitten!"Raoul sighed, Blackthorn had said the same thing over and over again. Raoul looked at the clock and saw it was supper time. Jamie would be finished with her afternoon lessons and go back to the pack house for a bite to eat before going into the city. He promised
After an hour’s wait, Samreturned. He knew that sometimes the Luna stayed at the Elemental Guard Barracks, especially if her group were on serving duty or punishment chores. The omega had thought this was the case and reported it back to Sam."Ah yes, I think I remember something about that. Apologies Omega Archie, I must have got my days mixed up. Our Luna’s schedule changes frequently, "Sam said, and hethought nothing of it that night. Neither did an exhausted Raoul, who came into an empty bed. He also thought she must be at the barracks. "I need to spend some quality time with her soon. I have really neglected her as of late!" Roaulthought as he drifted off to sleep. The next morning, Rose and David noticed that Jamie was missing. "That is not like her," Rose said. "She loves sword skills!"David said, "Well, maybe she is ill. She has been looking extremely tired lately." Rose nodded her head in agreement.
