Chapter Five: Divorce Agreement
Miracle's POV I stared at my step-sister and only then I noticed the glow she had. She also gained a little weight. "And I'm guessing she gave you what I can't?" "Yes." Mark proudly said and hugged Blair in front of me. I did not miss the way she smirked at me when she thought no one else could see. I was calm on the outside, but I was breaking all over again inside. I was a screaming mess and it's taking everything in me not to break down in front of them. My hands started shaking and my eyes brimming with tears. My eyes shifted to my so-called father who is just letting Mark insult his own daughter in front of him. But then again, he always favored Blair over me. Ever since she came to this house, she became the princess. His favorite child. She was the good and smart daughter while I was the worthless one. "I didn't expect you to be the father of the year, Dad, you never were, but you could have at least told me about me if you knew," I started, my voice breaking. "Three years. I wasted three years married to a man fūcking your own step-daughter. Me, Dad, your own blood! You should be on my side and not theirs!" I exclaimed in tears but still remained standing. "Stop being dramatic, Miracle. A man's honor is a child and you can't give him that so he went looking somewhere else. I don't see anything wrong with that. The divorce papers are in your hand. You can free yourself now and everyone can be happy." I gasped softly at his words that felt like knives embedding into my skin, tearing my skin and making me bleed out the blood I share with him on the floor. I can't believe those words came from the very man who made me. "And you call yourself a father? God, what did I expect from you anyway?" I barked out a laugh and started signing the papers one by one, hearing Blair cry out in happiness and her mother hugging her. "We're free now, Mother." Blair cried dramatically and I looked at them in repulsion. Are these really the people I lived with for so many years? Even my father has a proud smile on his face while looking at Mark and Blair. My stomach churned and I wanted to vomit everything I ate. "Congratulations to you all. I hope you all rot in hell." I said coldly and took a step towards the stairs when Mark blocked my way. "What are you doing?" "Did we forget to mention that from now on, you no longer have the right to live here?" He asked with a smug look on his face and I looked at Dad. "You are letting these people kick out your real family?" I exclaimed in disbelief. "What real family, Mira? We are his real family." Delilah interrupted, wrapping her manicured hand around my father who smiled at her words. I clenched my fists, crumpling the papers. "You are a coward. You both are cowards!" I gasped when I felt a sting on my cheek and I glared at Mark, holding my hurt cheek. "Hon, stop." I heard Blair say in feign sympathy, but I knew she was the one celebrating the most. I let the hand holding the papers fly to his face and watched the divorce papers slowly fall to the ground. "You ungrateful jerk. You wouldn't be wearing those expensive suits if it weren't for me. I picked you up from the street when you were no one and you have the nerve to hurt me?!" Blair appeared in front of Mark to touch his face and hugged him before turning to me. "Just leave, Mira, please. We just want to be happy. Mark and I are in love, can't you see? I know you will find the right man for you someday." "Stop pretending you care! And I am not leaving without my things and my mother!" Blair stepped closer to me and whispered, "What do you mean yours, sister? Your father disowned you, your husband divorced you. Nothing here is yours. Your things, your money, your car, your family, they are all mine now." She taunted me in a voice that only I could hear. I pushed her away from me, but the drama queen made it look more dramatic and she fell to the ground. Mark, my father and Delilah were on her in a second, and they all glared at me. "You evil witch! Blair has always been so kind to you!" Delilah screamed at me, and I couldn't help but feel nervous when Blair was clutching her stomach with pain evident on her face. Mark pointed his finger at me. "If something happens to her and our child, I will never forgive you!" I breathed heavily and I was about to walk past them when I heard voices behind me and when I turned around, I saw cops entering the house. "Good morning, ladies and gentlemen. We are here to make an arrest. Is Mrs. Miracle Reeve here?" I stepped back and automatically defended myself. "I didn't do anything wrong! What do you mean you're arresting me officers? On what ground?" The officers walked closer to me and showed me the warrant they have. "You are under arrest for theft." "You filed a case against me?!" I asked my father who's standing with his other family instead of standing with me. "I never stole anything from you!" Dad just stared at me without any hint of guilt in his face. "See you in court, Miracle, and don't worry, we will take care of your mother." The officers handcuffed me while reciting my rights and I started thrashing around. "No! Mom!" I screamed and looked desperately for her, as if she would magically be healed and save me. I was not even afraid of being wrongfully accused. I am scared of not seeing my mother anymore and leaving her behind to these monsters! God knows what they will do to her! "I tried to defend you, dear sister. I'm sorry. Don't worry, we will visit you." Blair said, now standing on her feet, and wiped her fake tears. "Hopefully, you will reflect on what you did wrong while you're inside, Miracle." Mark said with a fake sadness in his face but I could see a stupid grin on his face. "Our poor daughter, Norman!" Delilah cried out and hid her face in my father's chest, but I knew she too, was smiling behind her act. I looked at them one by one, cursing them and wishing for their death in my head. "This isn't over. I will make you all pay for this. You might be laughing now, but I promise I will have the last laugh!" This isn't the end. I will come back and I will save my mother, and myself from them. That is a promise.Chapter Six: Obsessed with the Lady in Red Hawkins's POV She never showed up. During the days I was lounging around the cruise, doing whatever just to kill time and relax, I admit that I expected—no, I had hoped that she would seek me. But it was like she vanished into thin air. But she didn't. In the end, instead of clearing my mind, taking a breather and relieving some of my stress, I went back home with a troubled mind. The woman with sad eyes unfortunately didn't leave my mind. She managed to stir something inside me and it left me intrigued. Alright, maybe a part of me also hoped that she would look for me, asking me to make her feel like a woman. God, I will. I will do everything in my book to make her feel so. She left me with a million questions as to why she acted that way. Strangely enough, I was willing to sit with her and just listen to her problems for hours. "Dude, are you even listening?" I blinked when Damien snapped his fingers in front of me to y
Chapter Seven: Seduce Hawkins Pride Miracle's POV Have you ever felt that drowning sensation? Like you were slowly sinking to the deepest part of the ocean as the water engulfs you whole. You can't breathe and it feels like someone is strangling you. I tried swimming, but it was futile. One moment you're drowning, the next thing you know, you were choking on your own sobs and drowning in your own tears. It was a dream. I knew I was dreaming, but the feeling felt too real. It was suffocating. Then someone was sitting next to me, offering a shoulder, a handkerchief I can use to wipe my tears with. When I turned to look at him, I saw a familiar face. His face was void of any emotions, but strange enough, he has this calming aura around him that feels like you are being lulled to sleep. "It's okay to cry. Let it all out. Don't bottle up your emotions, Miss Verity." He said in a soft voice that made me melt into a puddle of emotions. "I-It hurts." I whimpered, accepting his h
Chapter Eight: Starting From ScratchMiracle's POVI admit that I came from money. I grew up not having to worry about it because that is the only thing my father showered me with—money. It wasn't what I wanted, however, and I can live just fine without it. I craved his love and longed for his attention. But just like my mother, he never gave me what I wanted. When I was released from prison, I did not have somewhere I can turn to or someone I can count on because I was not close with anyone. I isolated myself so much that all I have is myself. I had no car, house, and the savings I had are frozen in my account. The only money I have was a bundle of cash Norman gave me to start with. Roughly a thousand dollars I need to spend wisely or I will find myself living in the street. But as I walked down the street wearing the same clothes I was wearing when I signed the divorce paper, I never felt so... free. For the first time in forever, I was able to breathe without something blocking my
Chapter Nine: A Returning Knight In Shining Armor Miracle's POV"Hi, dear sister. I'm happy to see you're doing fine. I was worried about you, you know?" Blair said in her pretentious voice but I can see through her. "I don't need your worry." I replied coldly and Mark gave me a devastated look. "Norman is right. You still haven't learned your lesson.""And you haven't opened your eyes. You know, you used to be smart, but now you are letting her manipulate and blind you. Not that I care, anyway."I gave the two a cold look before walking away from them, not wanting to ruin the night. I stopped in my tracks when I felt an intense stare on my back, but saw no one. What was that?Somehow, the stare felt familiar. Like that time from the... cruise, but that's impossible, right? "Good evening, ladies and gentlemen. Thank you so much for gracing us all with your presence, and participating in our annual party..." I zoned out the rest of Kathy's speech, still feeling that familiar stare
Chapter Ten: DesireHawkins's POVCall me a creep, but my eyes never left her. I tried to focus on the party, but my eyes kept going back to her, lingering, watching her every move. I never thought I'd see her again. I had hoped that I would, but I didn't think I'd see her again so soon. It's funny how she was a mere stranger, but she's all I can think about now. I would have thought she was an illusion, if I didn't see her interact with Katherine, the founder of this foundation. There was one thing I noticed, however, and it left me unsettled and annoyed. I saw how some people looked at her with contempt in their eyes, as if she just committed the worst crime in history. It took everything in me not to confront them one by one and gouged their eyes out. "I can't believe she had the audacity to show her face here." I heard someone say from behind me while I was silently sipping my champagne, eyes glued to the beauty a few feet away from me. "What? Who are you talking about?""That
Chapter Eleven: New BoyfriendMiracle's POVJust how much fate hates me that the man who saved me twice is the one whom my father wants me to seduce?I've heard about him before from Norman and Mark. They often talk about him and it's obvious how jealous they were of him. And why wouldn't they? Hawkins Pride is the youngest billionaire in America who just joined the list this year, and he's also one of the hottest bachelors in the whole world.I was beyond shocked when I heard who he was, I was swallowed with guilt. I was disheartened knowing what I needed to do to him in order to save my mother. Despite the guilt and my conscience gnawing at my brain, there was also the spark of desire I felt the first time our skin touched. It was the reason I never showed up. I was afraid of what he could make me feel when I melted at the slightest touch. Something I have never felt before even with Mark. He makes me want to just throw myself at him and beg him to do whatever he wants to me. I a
Chapter Twelve: AgreementHawkins' POVAfter an unfortunate encounter with Miracle's ex-husband, and his new equally ugly woman, I took her to the nearby river to take a breather. "I heard the rumors about you." I started while we were leaning on the hood of my car, and it's a good thing I bought my jeep. She hugged herself, and I removed my jacket with no hesitation, placing them on top of her shoulders and she smiled at me gratefully. "Do you believe them?" She asked, eyes shifting to the river in front of us and I copied her. "No, and I would like to hear your side of the story. If you want to tell me that is," I responded and raised an eyebrow. "You wouldn't jump on me again, would you?" I joked and she laughed softly."I told you I slipped. I didn't jump." She rolled her eyes at me and I chuckled, waiting for her to continue. "I caught my ex-husband cheating on me with my step-sister, and you want to know what's worse? My father and step-mother knew it. They have been fooling
Chapter Thirteen: Bound by a ContractHawkins' Pride"I'm getting married." I announced nonchalantly while sipping my vodka, and I heard Damien spewing his drink all over the place. "What the hell did you say?" He asked in disbelief, and I turned to look at him. "Exactly what I said. It will probably happen next week or so. I already asked Brenda to prepare all we needed." I explained, mentioning my beloved cousin I contacted the night Miracle agreed, as well as Martin, my lawyer, to prepare the contract and it should be ready tomorrow. "Dude, that is not what I'm even asking. Are you out of your mind? Did you hit your head or something? You? Marrying someone? You who can't even stay in a relationship because of your attachment issue?" I simply laughed at the look of shock in his face and ordered a new drink for him. "I'm telling you I haven't been this sober and serious in a long time."He suddenly smacked the counter and covered his mouth. "You found her." That wasn't a question
Chapter Forty-One: An Intense RewardHawkins' POVThe security prototype we were working on has been a huge success and we are just finalizing it before releasing the trial next month. I have been working on my own invention lately, and I think this one will be useful to everyone all over the world. "I watched a lot of rescue videos lately and we use k9s to find bodies buried underneath debris, right? As a pet owner myself, I wouldn't want our dogs hurt. While I understand that some of them are trained to do this and they like doing it, we can also minimize their exposure to great dangers." I started, tapping my pencil on the paper laying on the table where my sketch is. It was only Dame and I and I were telling him about my idea. "What if we invent prototype dogs that can detect humans by our body heat? We can also install cameras inside them, plus, we can insert basic needs inside it if they reach the victims, and are unable to be rescued right away. We can insert food, water, blan
Chapter Forty: QuestionsMiracle's POVAfter spending two days on the island with Hawk's friends and the people who shared the same surname with me, it was time to leave and go back to work. Unfortunately, the helicopter Norman rented for them is being used by someone else and they won't be able to leave until tonight. The weather was terrible so we were advised to leave earlier than expected. "It's really unfortunate that we have to leave now. I can't apologize enough that none of us will be able to take any of you with us because of the capacity." Hawk told Verity while we were outside the mansion with the cars waiting for us so they could take us to our helicopters. "Don't worry, this house is built to withstand strong typhoons and hurricanes. You'll be safe." Blair stepped forward with a worried look on her face. "Please, the weather looked bad and I'm–I'm scared. I want to go home. Can't you take me with you?" She pleaded while looking at Hawk, then at me. "I'm pregnant. Pleas
Chapter Thirty-Nine: EntertainmentHawkins' POV"I believe we should stop here, Mr. Verity. You have lost quite an amount of money. Like I said, this is a game and one should know when to quit." I said when the two just lost three hundred million. For us, it is a small amount of money, but for the likes of Norman Verity who owns a struggling company, and Mark, who owns nothing in his name, and a mere puppet to his father-in-law, it is more than enough to cost their livelihood. "We can still play." Norman insisted stubbornly.I leaned forward, placing my forearms on the table and clasping my hands. "I know why you were so eager to accept the invitation, Norman. You want us to invest in your company because it's on the verge of bankruptcy, isn't it?""No! Where did you hear that? We are simply... laying low." Norman quickly denied, directing his gaze to the poor dealer. "I said more, damn it!" He bursted angrily and I let out a smirk. My eyes connected with Dame, and both of us had e
Chapter Thirty-Eight: You're Nothing Compared to HerMiracle's POVI didn't realize I had fallen asleep while Hawk showered and woke up without him around. I yawned and stretched my body, feeling sleepy and tired all of a sudden.Where could he be? Is the second game starting already? But I'm sure he will wake me up because we will all be playing this round. I blinked the sleep away and dragged myself from the comfort of the king-sized bed. I can roll around it without falling, and at least eight people can sleep on it. The whole island and the people who bought it for their own pleasure and enjoyment amazes and amuses me at the same time. I know for a fact that Hawk supports a lot of charity organizations so I know he's not one to spend his money on just anything. Maybe they just have so much money to spend. I walked in the direction of the door, pausing to glance at my own reflection on the body-sized mirror to make sure my hair isn't a mess and there is no drool on my face, befo
Chapter Thirty-Seven: Let the Game BeginHawkins' POV"So how do we do this?" Robert asked as soon as we were alone in a room. "What are the rules? To what extent can we go?"I looked around the five men whom I've been friends with since we were rebellious teenagers, until now that we have reached the top of the world. A lot has changed about us, but our love for games isn't one of them. Basically, all six of us agreed to buy this island not only as our sanctuary, but also for moments like this. Whenever we want to punish or play with someone, we will take them here, away from prying eyes and laws. Here, we can do anything to them without anyone knowing. Legal or illegally. And no, we don't kill people, but that doesn't make it any better. We will play with them until they give up, disappear, repent, or go mad. It's our way of getting back to those people who have wronged us or the people we love. Simply because just destroying their image or their lives isn't... entertaining enough
Chapter Thirty-Six: PestsMiracle's POVI feel sick just seeing their faces again. When Hawk told me about his plan, I was deeply upset and disappointed with him, but maybe a part of me is looking forward to what's about to come. My top priority is saving my mother and pursuing my dream, and when I'm stable enough, I plan to have my revenge, but Hawk is saving me the trouble. All of these people I share the same surname made me suffer so much, and the man with them made my life hell. Is it too much to want to witness them be ridiculed the same they did to me? To be played like they played with my life? Will I be considered evil if I were to enjoy it? "Guys, I would like you all to meet our special guests today. As you've heard, they are my wife's family, and you might not have heard about them, but Verity owns an insurance company, and they rank fifteen nationwide. Meet Norman, my father-in-law, my wife's step-mother, his sister, and last but not the least, my wife's ex-husband, a
Chapter Thirty-Five: Head in the Sky Hawkins' POVI made sure the pilot and his co-pilot would give us some privacy and wouldn't accidentally turn their heads and see what we're doing, not that I mind really, but I don't want them seeing Miracle like that. I was beyond surprised when she was the one who suggested doing it in the first place, and my dīck is already half hard. I admit that I was upset by what she said, but it was also a slap to me. It made me rethink my actions and question my purpose. She was right that I was crossing the line beyond what we agreed upon, but I just... I guess it left a bitter taste in my mouth. I sighed in pleasure, biting my lip to resist the urge to release any sound when Miracle wrapped her soft hands around me. She started pumping me to life and hell it didn't take long. Not with the innocent yet mischievous smile she has while looking at me with those gorgeous eyes that resemble the sky above and the sea below. "Why don't we make a deal? If y
Chapter Thirty-Four: Don't Cross The LineMiracle's POV"Good morning."When I went to work the next day, I was greeted by my colleagues. Those who normally ignore me now smile brightly at me and of course I have an idea why. It's because my relationship with the owner is now revealed and everyone suddenly wants to be on my good side. My cover is blown off. My desire to live normally and not be treated like this is over. But then again, Hawk revealed his identity as well. I snapped because I was worried about him, and also because he didn't ask me first before revealing it. But now that I think about it, Hawk is the one who's at an advantage. He was now revealed as the owner to everyone, and they will also talk behind his back. How he married early, and how he married a divorcee like me. I returned everyone's greetings and smiles, and sighed in relief when I reached the faculty room I shared with the others. Caroline insisted on giving me my own office but I refused. Why would a tea
Chapter Thirty-Three: Endeared Hawkins' POV"How can someone like that get past you, Caroline? I specifically told you not to hire anyone like that." I asked the friend I trusted to lead my school while staring outside the window of her office. I went with Miracle to school today just so I can talk to Caroline. I didn't have the chance yesterday because we went home after the meeting, and besides, I am planning to talk to that blonde woman. Miracle might have forgiven her, but not me. "I'm sorry, Hawk. I swear she was not like this before. She can be hostile sometimes, but she was a good teacher and I haven't received any complaints about her. Well, not until now. I talked to Christine, and she told me she was just having a bad month because of a bad breakup.""And that excuses her action because? It could have gone worse, Caroline. She not only blew off our cover, but she also almost ruined Miracle's reputation. Someone who just wanted to be a goddamn teacher." I turned to Caroli
