MARILYN

Once we got to the building where the young wolves were being led into, I decided to stay outside while Balin went in to address them. I gestured to him to move in and that I will be right outside waiting for him till he gets back. He smiled and told Jarek to stay with me. I had protested initially, but he seemed not to hear any of it, so I gave in and sat in a corner, with Mr jerkface standing guard beside me.

The entire time I sat there, I couldn't help but notice that Jarek kept glaring at me and muttering incoherent words. I suddenly felt annoyed at the fact that I couldn't speak. I wanted to ask him why the heck he was staring at me. Balin had sent Aylin off once we arrived and right now, he was too busy to hear my thoughts. I stayed silent and endured the glare. But then it suddenly became too much. Angered, I gazed at him and raised my brows.

He glowered at me. At that moment, I wanted to scream and ask him what I ever did wrong to him. I mean, we never argued, we nev

ALICIA I left the mansion dressed in black pants and a dark hoodie, I had a backpack over my back. The Alpha and his mate were nowhere to be seen, so I took the opportunity to set out to look for Ophelia. I had one place in mind, the witches' forest. To everyone in the pack, the forest at the end of the pack was merely an ordinary forest, but to me and all those who are power hungry, it was the abode of witches. The witches' forest was the source of all the witches' powers. Even the least powerful which visits the forest in order to survive. I doubted Ophelia won't be there. Knowing that she was a really old witch, there is no place more suitable for her than the witches' Forest. Over the years, witches who lived past two hundred years all survived because they frequently visited the forest, some even made it their home. I parked my car at the public parking lot and casually strutted down the road to avoid suspicion. Getting to the entrance of the forest which is usually isolated due

BALINI stood surveying the entire foodstuff being brought in for the young wolves. Whenever I take up a task, I make sure to see the end of it. These teenage wolves are now left in my custody and it's up to me to do all I can to ensure they shift safely. I couldn't trust anyone with the task of supervising their food. I mean, I don't even trust myself, so who should I trust?"Alpha, you've been standing for hours, go back in while I take charge here," Jarek told me and came to stand next to me.Seeing how annoyed I was with him, he chose to call me Alpha to avoid making me rage. I didn't say a word, I pretended not to have heard him and stood watching the food being heaped. He heaved and stood there. I spent the entire day with the young wolves, making sure they were comfortable and given the best treatment. I missed Marilyn, but there was no way I could go to her right now. I could just choose to leave, but then I knew these innocent young ones would suffer the consequences. Once

BALIN I got to the garage and pulled my car door open, just one foot into my car, I'm suddenly thrown off my feet. I nearly landed on the floor, but I grabbed onto the car for support. "Oh no, not now," I muttered. My hand instinctively went to my heart and I noticed it was beating erratically. "What's happening?" I pondered. I forcibly pushed myself off the car and tried to stand on my own. But then I could barely keep up, I stumbled nearly falling to the floor, but then Jarek caught me right in time. He steadied me and helped me take a seat inside the car. He got in and quickly shut the door, to avoid bringing the attention of others to me. "You are not okay, Alpha. Something is wrong with you," he said in worry. I didn't reply to him, Marilyn was out there alone, I couldn't afford to think about myself. What if she gets captured by another human and is being kept in dirty water cages? "Move, Jarek. I have to go find my mate," I tried to push him aside. But even my hands wer

MARILYN I swam tirelessly with no idea of where I was heading. Even though I had no idea of where I was and where I was heading, I had this unexplainable feeling within me that urged me to move forward, as if I was heading in the right direction. A very familiar large shell made me halt my step. I swam towards it and my eyes got misty. I gently placed my hand on it and reminisced old memories. The shell used to be a meeting point for me and my friend back when I was back here in the sea, my home. "My heart was leading me home," I mumbled and teared up. There was no trace of any mermaid. Making me wonder if the humans have succeeded in capturing us all or if they all relocated. I swam around, trying to know if I would see any mermaid, but there was none. I suddenly noticed the water was slowly reflecting a golden light. I swam up to the surface of the water to see the cause. There I noticed that the sun was going down. That instant, my quest which I seemed to have forgotten came ba

MARILYN I parted my lips to speak and true to her words I could actually voice out my thoughts. I was no longer restricted to having others speak what I have in mind all the time. "What about the curse?" I asked, feeling ecstatic. My lips parted in disbelief and awe. I looked up to the lady and she smiled gratefully at me. "Thank you for lending me your voice all this while. Thanks to you, I'm able to speak today." I stared at her, not knowing what to say. "Am I supposed to be happy that I got my voice back? Should I be mad at her for taking my voice?" I wondered. But then, I recalled I had something more important to deal with. The curse. She seemed to understand what I was thinking, so she immediately began to speak. "Since I placed the curse, only I can undo it. The curse ended, the moment you spoke," she informed me. I heaved a sigh of relief and lay on top of the water surface to catch my breath. "I'm so sorry once again." She apologized. "Your mate will soon be he

  • His Mate From the Sea   Second wolf

BALIN "The teenage wolves," I muttered. "Let's head back to the pack," I ordered immediately. Not wasting a second, we all found our way to the car and in a matter of minutes, we were speeding madly back to the pack. Judging from the appearance of the moon, it would only take a few hours for the full moon to be clearly visible, and we have to get to the pack before then. "What are you doing, Jarek? Step on the damn accelerator," I roared at Jarek, even though he was already speeding so much. As the Alpha, it is my duty to ensure the safe shifting of everyone and also make sure that none of the pack members injures any human living in the pack. When werewolves shift, they are often driven by animalistic instincts and most times, they end up hurting the humans. Only a few are able to have a hold of themselves. For this reason, it was decided that all Alphas will escort their pack members to the hunting ground before the appearance of the full moon to ensure that no one gets hurt

  • His Mate From the Sea   Mermaid blood

MARILYN The wolf gave out a loud howl and dashed towards me. But then, a gigantic wolf suddenly dived out of the room and pounced on her, pushing her to the floor. "Where did the second wolf come from?" I watched, nearly peeing on my pants, as the gigantic wolf that had dashed out of the room battled with the wolf that wanted to pounce on me. They began to fight each other viciously. I used the opportunity to slowly slip into the room trembling. I gazed around the room for Aylin, but she seem to have hidden out of fear. The other wolf was no match for the gigantic wolf, in a few minutes it got thrown out of the balcony. The gigantic wolf, now covered in blood, turned and advanced towards me. I held my breath, waiting for the worst to happen. But then it began to transform, first, its furs disappeared and soon its animal features changed to that of a person. My eyes grew wide and my jaw dropped, staring at the figure in front of me. I blinked multiple times to make sure my eyes we

BALIN "What the heck did you do to her?" I raged and held her neck even more tightly. The damn witch didn't seem affected even though I was holding her neck so tight. I flung her like a rag doll and she hit her back on the wall. Her mismatched eye colour returned to normal and she stared at me, breathing faintly. I rushed over to Marilyn and took her into my arms. "Will you tell me what you did to her or should I end you right now?" I roared. She coughed and held her chest, as if out of breath, but that's none of my business. "Save your anger for another day. Your mate is fine. She will wake up when morning comes," she says. "She’d better wake up by then. Because if she doesn't I'll send your head to your coven in a platter," I threatened her. I made to walk away with Marilyn but halted when I recalled that the young wolves were unconscious. "And the wolves?" I asked. "The young wolves will be asleep till the next full moon. However, you have to find the person responsible f

MARILYNHe was still staring at me with that wolfish grin in his eyes.Keiran pinched the bridge of his nose and turned his attention back to the man.“She's been bought” I heard him whisper to the man. There was a scowl on the man's face at that.“Is her master here?” He asked, his voice loud as though he didn't care that I was there. He was rude but for some reason, this wasn't how I envisioned the exiled Alpha to be. Maybe I was mistaken and he just had the same name as the exiled Alpha however Keiran had referred to him as Alpha, no one did that anymore if someone was exiled. They were stripped of their position so it wouldn't make sense if Keiran was doing it “You know I'm right here,” I said lazily. The man let out a smile. “My apologies, sweetheart. I was just going through the necessary details”I sighed and crossed my arms. “I'm not on the list, sir,” I said with an eye raised.A look of surprise flashed in his eyes as though Keiran had not just told him that.“I see. Why was I waiting for keiran? I knew the way to the poolIgnoring anyone who looked at me, I strode towards the pool eager to get things over with and leave this placeThe pool looked fairly the same. Nothing much hand changed yet not even the stares that I was given.“Marilyn?!” My name was whispered in shock by several of the mermaids who were clustered around talking before I entered I took a deep breath. MARILYNKeiran spared me a few glances as we walked past some other employees who stopped to gape at me.“Seems everyone is happy to see you” he said, his hand crossed behind him as he glanced at another employee, a silent message passed between them “They cannot be trusted,” Ophelia said in my head.“I know” I whispered to her as though he could hear my thoughts. She muttered something and suddenly she felt distant.“What's happening?” I asked in alarm as she slowly disappeared from my mind.“I'm out. I think I'm done with my job and you're no fun. I'll let Aylin know that you're good. Stay safe, Marilyn. If you need me, you know where to find me” she said, laughter in her tone until she was gone. I couldn't feel her presence anymore.Pity. I thought I was going to get used to her but alas she has a life of her own and it didn't include being in my head all the time.“Thank you” I whispered to no one.Jolting back to reality, I noticed we were now near the pool where the other mermai

BALINDamien was speaking to Kabal in the corner with a frown on his face while his beta attended to me.“Tea or coffee?” The beta asked in a monotone.I slowly dragged my gaze over the man's slender build. “aren't you tired?” I asked in a frustrated tone. His eyes furrowed slightly in confusion. “What is that supposed to mean, Alpha Chris?”“It means that you've asked me that question 9 times in a minute” I said throwing my hands up exasperatedly. His head tilted and his lips parted slightly. “Oh”I rolled my eyes, not bothering to hide the frustration in my voice. “Yeah, I counted” I sneered. He straightened up. “Oh well you didn't answer either way” he also said.“Wasn't that supposed to be your cue to know what that meant?” I snapped at him.He took a step back and sighed. “Very well”I looked back at Damien who was now talking to an elder in his pack but Kabal was no where to be found. Probably gone as usual. Damien looked really pissed off at something as he spoke to the man and

MARILYNThe mermaid foundation was just a stones breath away and I sighed getting down from the bike.“I hate you” I whispered to Ophelia, hoping she could hear the anger in my voice. She tsked.“Oh well at least you learnt something” she said to me.“Yeah, not to trust you” I said sarcastically. There was a brief silence. “But at least you now know some things”“That doesn't change the fact that he cheated” I said stubbornly, leaning on the bike “Did he?” She asked suddenly.I stuck my hands in my pockets and huffed. “You know, for someone who was hell bent on letting him die, you sure as hell want to defend him” I noted.I felt it. Anger. She was angry.“Hell no” she snapped. “I still want him to die”, she said nonchalantly.“Weird because your actions don't actually show that” I reminded her.“Oh well, I

BALIN I walked away as briskly as I could before I would do something I'd regret. She was hiding for some reason and even though I wanted to pull her out of her shell, I knew that would only make her more mad at me.I don't know how she managed to be there but not quite there. I couldn't see her but her essence was everywhere, I could feel her, scent her.As I reached the end of the path, my head turned around to look back at the bike. It was gone but the trace of tires on the ground made me smile. She had pushed it away and left. The revv of the engines from afar reached my ears and I wanted to smile. I was agitated, I didn't see her but with so many interactions with her, I was fine already. She soothed my heart. I wanted her back.As I reached the party of my guards and Kabal, I nodded to them“Let's go. Damien must be waiting for us” I said to them.Kabal looked me over and nodded. “Indeed” with that, he dissolved into black dust and disappeared.A guard opened the car door for m

  • His Mate From the Sea   What the fuck

MARILYNHe didn't move his gaze neither did he show like he could see me.I was being paranoid, he couldn't see me. Right?“Ophelia?” I called out to be sure.Ophelia in my head was muttering a few things before she answered me. “no. He can't. He's just spaced out and looking here by chance”He turned back to his mother. I could see the uncanny resemblance between them. She was the older female vision of him and he looked just like her. The only difference being that he looked more ruthless while she looked very calm.“I remember when I was mad at your dad because he was going to become the Alpha because of Dmitri” she said with a smile My ears were perked up to listen to this conversation. It felt wrong. Like I was listening in on something that wasn't my place to hear“He said that it was better that he take over before you grow up to take his place
even if he's gone, I know he's proud of what you've become. He's proud.. I can feel him. He knew you'd make a great leader” She said w

MARILYNStumbling back, my heart began pounding. The woman who looked just as beautiful and ethereal as Balin was arranging some flowers in a flowerpot. Daisies. She hadn't seen me. She couldn't see me. I felt sick to my stomach.I tried to move but it seemed like my legs were rooted to the spot. Ophelia.“Ophelia, let go this instant!” I yelled to her in my head. She was awfully silent but she still didn't let me move “I swear that I'll block you out from my consciousness” I threatened. That got her attention.“Calm down, little one. You can't even do that if you wanted to. If you succeeded then it means I was humoring you. I don't want you to leave now for some reasons” her tone was soft as she led me towards where the woman was humming.I took a look at the daisies and my hand reached out to touch them.“Don't! You'll blow our cover!”, Ophelia hissed and I quickly drew back my hand.“Sorry” I said sheepishly.Ophelia muttered a few obscenities that I couldn't hear and she muttered

MARILYNThe wind whipped past me in the early hours of the morning as I ventured through the path leading back to the Ocean. For some weird reason, I knew the way there for some weird reason, it was like my brain had mapped it out already and my body was just leading me there.A sudden voice in my head sounded. “You want closure, isn't that?”I stiffened and looked around me, the early morning sun doing nothing to help my vision as I tried to look at the sealed off houses on the side of the road.If I had waited till the morning, I could have gone with a car from Damien but I didn't want to bother him anymore than I already had so I had just snuck out.“Who's there?” I didn't know if to shout it out or just say it in my mind. I knew that voice from somewhere but I Didn't know where.“A friend. Surely, you haven't forgotten me so soon” the voice said, in a surprised tone. There was tense silence before the voice spoke. “it's Ophelia”Ophelia
