I remained seated, watching the mini-drama unfold right in front of me. “Okay, Homer, you need to get working,” Dominic said once he saw my eyes fixated on Ruby and Rebecca. It did not make sense. Nothing they were saying made sense. I continued to stand still in the kitchen as I tried to connect the dots. As I continued to process the most probably disturbing information, I heard chairs being pushed around and footsteps. Minutes and what almost felt like hours had gone by with me still standing in the same spot, completely dumbfounded after Dominic proposed the craziest and weirdest scheme. “This house is not going to clean itself, is it?” Rebecca said as she passed by and noticed I had been lifeless for the past few minutes. I still remained frozen. I did not bother moving an inch because whatever was running around in Dominic’s head scared me more than anything. “Glad to see you’ve joined me,” Stanley said as he wrapped a towel around his waist and stepped out of the shower. “Uhm…” I froze at the door, not sure of what to do next. “Either get undressing and join me or close the door on your way out,” he said with a serious expression on his face. I struggled to sleep the whole night. Firstly, because I was itchy from not having a good wash in a while, and secondly, from seeing how the stories of Dominic Hall had disappeared off the internet. I stayed up the whole night. I heard my neighbours enter their house in such a noisy manner; then I heard the taps make that weird coughing sound. I heard the birds make chirpy sounds as the sun slowly came out and the different neighbourhood dogs barking the whole night. But eventually, when the whole world was quiet, I closed my eyes and began to drift off. Suddenly, there was a loud banging and knocking sound on my front door. I rolled out of my bed, grabbed my phone, squinted at the screen and saw it was past 11 am. I quickly grabbed my gown, wrapped my body in it and then walked to the front door. I reached Dominic’s house, and I found him standing in the living room, with his arms folded over his chest angrily and a very angry expression on his face. “You’re awfully late!” he groaned. “Yes, I know. I am so sorry. There was an issue at home that is still trying to be sorted out.” I tried to explain as quickly as possible.“I don’t care, Homer.” he groaned.He walked into the house, and I followed behind him until I went into the tiny bedroom to change. I quickly jumped out of my jeans and blouse and into my maid uniform. That day, I did not dress up slowly lest one of those perverted guards casually strutted their way inside.
