Ashley POV

The meeting ended in chaos without any conclusion. Dylan’s betrayal left me reeling. We had an agreement—he would help rebuild Weber Group. So why had he pulled his vote at the last moment?

I was baffled, not understanding what kind of person he was exactly. I walked out of my cabin only to find a noise coming from the balcony.

"How could you do this, Alex? I told you to vote against her then why did you do this?" I heard Vini shouting at Alex aggressively.

I froze, eavesdropping.

"And you think I’m your puppet? That I’ll just dance to your tune?” Alex shot back. “Don't I have my own opinion?"

Alex said with a cold tone. I had never seen him raise his voice against Vini. They are both always a lovey-dovey couple in front of the world. At least Alex finally realized he’d been nothing more than Vini’s pawn.

“Do you even know who I am? I’m the only daughter of the Weber Group. You should—”

Alex cut her off with a mocking laugh.

“Only daughter? You’re not even blood-related!

Dylan POV She defied me again. Even after I explicitly told her not to, she answered the damn phone. My jaw tightened. I snatched the phone from her hand without a second thought and pressed it against my ear. "Diana, I need to talk to you. Can we meet, please?" I frowned. That bastard. I always knew Alex would regret choosing Vini over Ashley. He would realise what he lost. When I was not able to move on from her after so many years, How could he? I just didn’t think his regrets would surface this quickly. This was why I withdrew my vote. Why I made damn sure he and Ashley wouldn’t work together on any project. Not now, not ever. "Alex," I sneered. "I didn’t think you’d be fucking shameless to ask my fiancée to meet you." There was a pause on the other side of the phone. "Mr. Marcov. Is Diana with you?" He asked, his voice was tinted with anger, but I fucking didn’t care about it. "Yes, she is here. You are interrupting our date. More than that, you are calling m

Finally, you came. It’s past office hours.." Alan approached me with hurled steps as soon as I entered the Weber house. "Grandpa’s been waiting for you to join him for dinner.”"Alan, can you take Grandpa for dinner today? I have no appetite." I said, gulping the fury within me. "Has anything happened?" Alan asked me, perhaps it's written all over my face. That's the reason I didn't want to see Grandpa right now."Nothing. Just a usual bad day.." I muttered and made my way back to my room. Once I got inside, I slammed the door shut and tossed my purse in the corner. “It wasn’t because of you. If any other girl had been in your place, the same thing would’ve happened.” I mimicked his voice. It ignited my anger all over again. How could he say that?Even though I engaged myself in the work, his words still echoed in my ears like a broken cassette. I went straight into the washroom and stood below the warm shower. I stared at my reflection in the foggy mirror. My anger now tinged with

I ignored him and walked to the elevator. "Diana..” Alex approached me. I smelled alcohol from his mouth. It was not a weekend, and it was daytime. Alex was not someone who would drink this much."Alex, are you drunk?" I asked him. His condition was a little bit worse. More like he hasn't gone home since last evening. Seemed he didn't even take a bath. His hair was messed up. I couldn’t pity him even though he seemed miserable. "Yeah, a little bit." He smiled bitterly. I feel disgusted. He walked ahead and grabbed my hand. "I have been calling to you since two. Why didn't you pick up my phone?" He sounded miserable. I could not even dream of Alex holding my hands and begging me to pick up his call. But this is what he wanted. He wanted to be Vini all the time, he stayed with her and ignored my calls, not even replying to any of my messages before. "You didn't call me," I said pulling my hands away. Even if I wasn't about to answer his phone, I was sure that he didn't call me."N

Ashley POV“Oh Mr. Marcov, I didn't see you coming." Caren’s tone shifted the moment she spotted Dylan behind her. The employees scrambled back to their desks like they’d been caught plotting a coup.“What were you saying to my fiance? I heard you were blaming her for something?” He asked, his tone was authoritative. As if Caren tried to break something that belonged to him.“Nothing,” Caren said with a sugar-coated smile. “I just found her holding Alex’s hand in the basement. Mr. Marcov, you are a famous personality. You can have anyone but why her?" Caren sounded complaining. "Disappointed I chose someone better than your asshole son-in-law?" I muttered under crushed teeth. I feel the incident at the engagement party had to do something with Vini and her mother. Apart from her, nobody knew I had a miscarriage. "Better than Alex? Mr. Dylan doesn't know how scheming you are. You just won a jackpot that you don't even deserve." Caren rolled her eyes at me. Jealousy flashed on her

Ashley POVI opened the door to Dylan’s penthouse and froze. The entire penthouse was bigger than Alex’s mansion. The guard followed behind me and placed the luggage inside. It felt awkward. The servant’s room was in the basement and they would appear only when needed. So it would be just Dylan and me most of the time. "I thought of taking you to the Grey villa penthouse,” Dylan spoke while pulling the curtains and revealing the beautiful river view. "But you'd hit traffic going to the office from there.""Won’t you get late from here?" I asked as I tried to fill the awkward silence. His office and my office both were poles apart."I own that place, No one is scolding me for being late." He said."Oh yes.." I realised I was just making small talk to avoid the awkwardness between us, but it grew even more because the guard was already gone. I wanted to tell him we wouldn’t be sharing a room, but I wasn’t sure how to bring it up."This is your room." Dylan gestured at the door on th

You have been drinking too much lately. How can you do that? Think about yourself.." Andy said. She caressed my head and hugged me. But as soon as she heard another voice, she turned pale. "Do you think your brother could think about himself?" He only thinks about that bitch. That fucking Diana." Vini sneered. "Shut up Vini, Stop blaming her." I scolded Vini. Dylan POV"Boss, Are you okay?” Fred’s voice broke my trance. I glared at him. His interruption annoyed me."What happened? Why are you still here?" I scoffed. "You’ve watched the same screen a hundred times now," Fred sounded curious. "And you’re smiling at it. That’s… new."I looked back at my phone, my fingers brushed against the screen. It was the first ever message that Ashley sent to me. The message I want to read every other day. A kind of message that a wife sends to her husband every evening. "You said you'd have dinner at home. You disappointed Me. Sherlock. He is our business partner and invited you for dinner yesterday but you refused. I think it would affect the deal."Fred informed me. "We will manage that.." I said and leaned back on the chair. I stared at my phone hoping for another dinner at home message. Even if she shot me in my heart, my heart would scream just her name. "Boss, Are you okay?" Fred asked me. My death glare made his mouth shut. This is what she meant to me, no one in the world dares to look into my eyes but I allowed her to slap me. I had given her the place where she could do anything to me and I will still love her. "Take the lawsuit back. She would contest it till her last breath. Her love for the Weber group was more than anything else, it was her father’s dream after all." I said, I saw the spark in her eyes that she would break but wouldn’t bend. And I would break myself before breaking her.“Okay, Boss.” Fred watched me in disbelief. Dylan said. "But no problem, Fred would find which gang he belong to. He seemed professional gang member." "I know that. He was the one who attacked us when we left the painting exhibition." I said. His eyes glared at me with an intense gaze that was almost ready to pierce my skin. "I don't think we will come to any conclusion now. Let the lawsuit go ahead." I found five of them very productive and talented that we need them in this department."Madam, you are just wasting your time on them." Mr. Silver came and tried to convince me. "You are only able to choose five after three days of tiring interview." "Mr. Silver, these five newcomers are better than employees who have been working in our company for several years. They are trained with new softwares and they can handle the technology better than them." I stated. Mr. Silver's face turned bitter as if he could not digest everything I said. "I have given my two decades to this factory. I knew it better than anyone."He stated arrogantly."Shall I hold you responsible for its decline then?" I asked him. His face turned a little annoyed because I didn't take his advice even being a senior officer. He didn't say anything but walked out of the cab

Dylan POV"Why would I marry an orphan like you? What if you are the product of rape?" Her words stabbed into my heart like a sharp dagger. How disgusting it felt when that cursed line fell out of her mouth. I never mind if the world said this about me, but Ashley. Why did it happen? She was the one who fought for me when people blamed my blood. She said it never mattered if I had no family, she called herself my family, my home. I poured the drink into a glass and drank it again. I wanted to forget everything that happened that day. I wanted to assume that this day had not come but the more I was drunk, the more everything flashed before my eyes. The moment we shared was a dream, she was in my arms, but then everything shattered. "Boss, you are drinking too much. You shouldn't drink more." Fred grabbed my hand and tried to stop me. But I snatched the glass back and shot him a glare."Shut up. You are not a boss here. I would kick you out if you did this again." I poured the whis

Ashley POVI took my stuff to the car and drove myself to the factory in Southport. Shina transferred me to one of the oldest factories, whose production was low but maintenance was too bad. Hardly any air conditioner working there. I thought of giving a resignation, but I didn’t want to look like a coward who ran away from the problem. It’s better that I face it and I would definitely improve this factory. When I arrived at the office, I found no female workers were around. There were mainly middle-aged men who worked for more than decades. No wonder the productivity was extremely low here. They all stood and greeted me."You may sit down.." I gestured and went to the cabin. I quickly called the Manager of the industrial department. He entered, and I heard he was a middle-aged misogynist person who thinks women are no better at industrial processes. "Mr. Silver. Why are there no females in the office?" I said, He went to the glass window and watched Grandma lying on the bed. She was surrounded by heavy equipment and looked extremely weak. "Do you know it was her who accepted an orphan like me in the Marcov family? Everyone was against her but she accepted me anyway. She never let me feel that I was adopted. She loved me wholeheartedly." Dylan spoke, I rested my hand on his shoulder. I realised why Grandma meant him so much. He values the people who were with him when he had nothing.
