I was walking down the street. I still had no idea where would I go. My stomach growled, I had barely eaten anything since morning.
Suddenly, my head began spinning. I felt like I was going to faint. Before anything like that could happen, I rushed to the family hospital.
“Diana, Congratulations. You’re pregnant,” Doctor Shelly announced with a warm smile but I left speechless.
“What? Are you sure?” I stammered, my mind reeling. I had clearly missed my period, but I’d been so caught up in the chaos of life that I hadn’t paid any attention to it. She turned the screen on and showed me.
“Look here… This is your baby,” she said, pointing to the tiny dots on the screen. They already touched my heart. It had been three years since my marriage to Alex, and we had never thought of something like this. I could already imagine a baby playing in Alex's arms.
I rushed home in the middle of the night, desperate to tell Alex about my pregnancy. I called his number, but Secretary Jin picked up.
“Secretary Jin, where is Alex?” I asked excitedly. I hoped he wasn’t out of town this time.
“Boss is in an urgent meeting at Hotel Blue Lagoon. You can’t meet him now,” he said and hung up the phone. I could not wait for tomorrow.
I wasted no time and, at 2 AM, I reached the hotel Blue Lagoon. But I was stopped by some men at the entrance.
“You’re not allowed to enter. Miss Vini asked us not to disturb her when she’s with her boyfriend.” one of them said. I clenched my fist and wanted to punch their faces.
“Boyfriend? That’s fucking my husband!” I snapped and rushed inside. I was stunned to see Alex's shoes next to a pair of female sandals. It made me feel a little weird.
As soon as I entered, I found Vini standing in the wrapped towel in front of me, her golden blond hair was dripping water as if she had taken a bath just now. I was stunned to see her.
“Hey… Don’t you have any manners to knock before getting in? What if we were making out?” She shouted at me. The noise of the shower in the bathroom was enough to make me understand what was going on.
“Isn’t he supposed to have a meeting here?” I asked, squinting my brows.
“Don’t you know? We’re going to get engaged soon. You’re just a burden on his head. His useless wife.” she said smugly, crossing her arms.
"Shut up. Let me talk to him." I headed to the bathroom to open the door, but Vini grabbed my hand to stop me.
“Haven’t you divorced him already? If he really loved you, he wouldn't be with me here in this room. she sneered and pushed me away.
My stomach hit the edge of the table, and I felt a sudden pain. Blood started dripping down my thighs.
“Help… Help… I am pregnant.” I screamed, but that girl just looked at the blood and smirked. I wanted to save my baby, so I managed to get out of the room.
At 3 AM, I was searching for a cab in the basement of Hotel Blue Lagoon. I bumped into the bonnet of a black Rolls Royce. I couldn’t see inside, but the car's front lights turned on. I can feel someone already sitting inside.
“Please take me to the hospital. Please save my baby… Please help me.” I begged the man sitting inside, joining my hands together.
The blood flowed freely, and my vision slowly started to blur. I collapsed against the bonnet of the car and fell unconscious.
When my eyes opened, my head was heavy as if thousands kg weights were placed on my forehead. The sterile scent of the hospital confirmed where I was. It was hard for me to remember anything that happened last time. A young man in a black suit stood beside me, his expression unreadable. I didn’t recognise him, but I didn't care. I only remembered my unborn baby.
“How is my baby?” I asked that person, whose face was neutral. I rubbed my stomach and felt nothing. He didn’t say anything. His silence explained everything.
“Tell me how is my baby? Were they able to save him?” I grabbed his collar in desperation and asked him again.
“No. They couldn’t,” he shook his head. As soon as I heard it, I wasn’t ready to believe it. I started hitting his chest angrily.
“You’re lying. My baby… How could they not save him? You’re lying…”
He endured my blows like a solid rock, and after a moment, my anger vented out. A burst of tears began falling from my eyes. I started crying while clung to him as if he were my last anchor in the storm. He raised his hand to caress my head but then fisted his palm.
“My baby… I shouldn’t have gone back to him… My baby…” I felt as if I had lost the world. Unknowingly, my arms wrapped around him and my face tucked into his chest. He let me cry for a while until I felt a little better.
When I came to my senses, I got away from him and wiped my face.
“I’m sorry… ” I said, not dare to look into his eyes.
“The doctor said you need to rest. You’re weak,” he said, pouring a glass of water for me. I nodded.
"You need a check-up." Doctor Shelly entered the room, and he left. I started crying again in Shelly's arms.
“Sorry, Diana. We did everything we could,” Shelly said while trying to soothe me. my eyes drifted to the small calendar on the desk. 6th Dec 2023. It's not possible. It was my anniversary yesterday, 2nd June. I immediately looked at Shelly.
"What the day today?" I asked her. She pressed her lips.
"It's 6th Dec. You were in a coma for almost six months." She said and I was stunned to hear this.
“It was Mr. Dylan who brought you here in the middle of the night. If you had bled more, I wouldn’t have been able to save you, either. He took care of you all the time when you were here.” Shelly said. “I wonder how a powerful person like him stayed with you in the hospital for the entire time. He is rare to attend any event." Shelly added.
“Oh…” I felt bad, remembering how I had hit him recklessly, even though he had saved me. Instead of thanking him, I behaved rudely to him. I tried to get up, but Shelly stopped me.
“I wanted to thank him,” I said while rushing outside.
“No use of it, he paid your bill and already left,” Shelly said, and I felt baffled. Six months passed, and everything changed.
"Did anyone come to see me?" I asked, my voice full of curiosity.
"If you are asking about Alex, No he didn't come to see you." She said.
"Miss Diana, this is your food. Make sure to eat healthy." The nurse placed the food on my table. Even though it's been 24 hours since I woke up, I still had no appetite. I held the spoon and began eating when all of a sudden an old man entered the ICU room. I was scared to see him; he might have been around his late seventies. Two women followed him inside and they closed the door. He appeared so desperate."Take her inside." He gestured towards the girls. They set aside my food and pulled me out of bed by holding my hand."Who are you? Tell me who you are?" I started screaming. Those women dragged me into the changing room and undressed me. I was stunned, thinking something worse was ready for me. They turned me around and looked everywhere at my back. They started scratching my back, even using some kind of laser thing on my body. I was scared because even though they were female, they were as powerful as men."Can you tell me what's going on? You are troubling me, and I can sue y
I stopped the car at the airport, Vini's flight was a bit delayed today. The first thing she wanted to do after arriving here was to see me."Alex..." She stood in front of the car. I barely had time to step out before she wrapped her arms around me in a tight embrace."We would have missed the party if you come an hour late," I told her as we got into the car. "That won't be possible. I am a daughter of Weber, it's the first event of the Weber family. How could it start without me?" She said blowing her nails. "How was your vacation?" I asked her, she was excited about her trip before leaving."Yeah! I enjoyed it but I missed you." She folds her arms into mine. I smiled. Tonight, we were heading to a party at the Weber house- a rarity in itself. The reason for the party has not been revealed yet. But something might be special. Even my engagement with Vini was low-key. "Where are you taking me?" Vini asked.“Not just yet. We’re stopping by my place first to pick up Mom and Andy,”
You're just a stepdaughter. I wasn’t talking about you." Grandpa snapped. He jerked his hand away from hers with a scowl. It clearly showed Grandpa didn't like her. "Grandpa, it's okay. You don't need to be worried now." Alan approached and placed his hand on the grandpa's shoulder calmly. He whispered something in Grandpa's ear, and Grandpa nodded in agreement. "This party," Grandpa began, "was held to introduce the new managing director of Weber Group." Grandpa called me on stage. I smiled and approached the stage. He held my shoulder and watched me with pride in his eyes. "Miss Ashley is our new managing director. She is very capable and deserving of this position. I hope our business partners get an opportunity to introduce themselves," Grandpa said, and everybody seemed shocked. Alex and Vini appeared dumbfounded. I had never seen Vini's face this displeased before. All the staff and other people gathered around me and started pestering me. A tall and handsome man approached m
Dylan Marcov: It was just a few years ago that the research center staff informed me they had found the body of a fifteen-year-old girl whose DNA matched Ashley's. In that moment, I lost all hope. I believed she had died, she would never return, and I almost gave up on her getting back. I accepted the fate that we would never meet again. That night, after my meeting with the Harper Group at the Blue Hilton Hotel, I stepped into my Rolls-Royce. As soon as I turned on the headlights. a figure appeared in front of me. I froze. My heart seized in my chest as I stared at that sweating, pitiful face. Was it Ashley? I could not trust my eyes. She banged on the bonnet of my car and screamed, taking me out of reverie. "I am pregnant.. Please help me.. blood here.." She cried. I barely had time to process her words before she collapsed on the ground. Amount blood dripping through her thigh. I rushed ou
Ashley POVThe noise outside drew us out of the room. As I stepped out, I was shocked to see Alex being stopped by Dylan's bodyguard."Let me go inside! Do you know who I am?" Alex threatened Fred, but Fred didn't even move. He seemed loyal to his master, Dylan, and was only waiting for his unspoken command. Dylan's mere nod made him release Alex's hand."Alex, why are you making such a scene?" I demanded. I was frustrated. There were still many things I wanted to discuss with Mr. Dylan, and any interruption was the last thing I expected.“And what are you doing here with Mr. Dylan?” Alex countered, his face darkened with suspicion. “And that too, alone?”“That’s none of your business,” I replied while Folding my arms tightly across my chest. “We’ve been divorced for six months now. You’re engaged to Vini, remember Alex? Maybe focus on her instead of me.”"What happened?" Alan appeared, his brows arching in surprise as he took in the tense scene: Alex, Dylan, and me—a precarious trian
The file felt heavy as it weighed on my new responsibility. Dylan Marcov's name seemed to jump off the page in bold, commanding letters. As I began reading it, my eyes widened in disbelief. Three hundred billion. It was one of the largest deals I’d ever heard of, perhaps one of the biggest in the history of our business."Why is this deal still pending?" I demanded while glancing at Lucy. The proposal had been made over a year ago, yet there hadn’t been any movement."They have not accepted yet. Perhaps we got a silent rejection," Lucy replied in a low tone, implying it was unlikely to be accepted.I had heard about Dylan Marcov from Alan and seen his name all over the internet—described as a ruthless, selfish man with no room for kindness. But I felt a little kindness in his heart when I was in the hospital. The challenge seemed immense, but not impossible."I have decided. I will secure this contract," I said, and Lucy's eyes widened. I could almost hear the unspoken mockery in her
My mind screamed at his womanizer image. The way his intense gaze traced over me, my skin like a flame. Even though he appeared calm, I could feel the heat radiating from him. He had already trampled my private space. I pushed him back with my hand."Sorry, Mr. Dylan. But I’m not the kind of girl who jumps into bed for a deal. I’m a woman with dignity," I stated firmly. His eyes narrowed as a flicker of disappointment crossed his face."No one has ever dared to touch me, let alone push me." He stared at my palms with a sharp gaze. Even though he appeared scary, I still resisted. Perhaps he thought I was the kind of woman who would throw herself at anyone just because I married Alex. But he was wrong. He stared at me closely, as if he were trying to find something hidden beneath my defiance."Miss Ashley, nothing in this world comes for free. I don’t engage in anything that doesn’t profit me. And considering your company’s current situation..." He continued, sliding the paper across th
As Alan went for the test drive, I excused myself to the restroom. When I stepped out, Vini was already standing in front of me.Her gaze immediately fixed on the sapphire bangle around my wrist. Her eyes widened as if she recognised it."It's Weber's ancient bangle, isn't it? How did Grandpa give it to you?" she demanded. Clenched her teeth.Grandpa had handed it to me right after the party ended, and I decided to wear it today. Who knew I would bump Vini here?"Why? What's your problem?" I asked her, squitting my eyes. "It looks better isn't it." I fixed it and was ready to make my exit. Vini grabbed my hand and tried to yank the bracelet off. "Give it to me. It's mine. You can't have it. I deserve it," she hissed. Her fingers dug into my skin.I pushed her, my head began aching. She troubled me so much already, including my miscarriage. Even though it was an accident, for some reason I didn't want to see her face. "You think you can have a legacy of Weber just by climbing onto me
While being in the car, when she pulled her hands away, I shamelessly grabbed her waist. Her playing hard to get only fueled my desire. When I had her on my lap, I wanted her there for the entire journey. But as soon as those hooligans ran off, she slipped back into her seat. The distance between us was unbearable. "I was still stranger to everyone. Isn't too awkward to bring this topic..." Before she could say anything else, the door behind swung open. Alex and Vini walked inside. Ashley immediately pulled away from me as if she was guilty of something. "Mr. Dylan, are you okay? I heard about the accident. I hope everything's fine," Vini asked, her face was full of concern. Alex's eyes were fixed on Ashley. I clenched my jaw. The way he looked at her made me want to rip him apart. "Yeah, I’m fine," I barely aknowledged Vini. My eyes stayed fixed on Alex, silently warning him to back off. But he didn’t. He approached Ashley and placed his hands on her shoulder "Are you alright?" he a
I pushed myself against the corner of the car to avoid any contact with Dylan. His face showed clear irritation. He didn’t like my behavior. I had been defensive every time he tried to hold my hand or even touch me."Miss Ashley..." he called out in a sharp tone. His glare was cold and piercing. "I am not invisible, am I?" he asked sarcastically. I knew very well that the man sitting beside me was not just any ordinary person. Even the exhibition owner had bowed to him like he was some kind of emperor. No one would dare insult or ignore him, but I was extremely upset because of that deal."No, Mr. Dylan. I am just a little tired," I said.I glanced at my watch. It was almost eleven. I still had to plan my strategy for tomorrow’s press conference. All of a sudden, a car came out of nowhere and rammed into our car. The impact was so strong that sparks flew from the collision, lighting up the dark road."Ahhh..." I jumped in my seat. Dylan instantly moved closer and wrapped his arms arou
Vini's eyes filled with tears and her fist were clenched. She stared at me as if she were going to eat me alive. "What happened, Vini? It was just a painting," I said. Everyone around us snapped photos of it, murmuring among themselves. Alex's sharp eyes looked at me in frustration. As soon as I stepped off the stage, Alex’s family surrounded me. Vini was crying like she'd lost everything. She must be cursing me under her breath. "Why did you do that? Do you really hate me this much?" Vini took out a blade from her purse and placed it on her wrist. "I should kill myself to satisfy you," Vini screamed. The crowd muttered, giving her sympathy. "Miss Ashley is hurting Miss Vini so much. Now Miss Vini is getting into depression." "Yeah! I mean, look how she insulted Miss Vini's painting publicly." I grabbed the blade from her left hand and placed it in her right palm. "If you really want to die, cut the nerves of your left wrist, not the right one," I said. Her face turned pa
I was clenched in one corner, feeling a little uncomfortable. I huddled myself further into the corner and tried to put as much distance as possible between us. The driver felt more like a robot; he did not blink or shift his gaze for the entire ride, as if Mr. Dylan had given him strict orders about it.Dylan's fragrance was strong, yet undeniably attractive. He wore a white shirt and black trousers, his sleeves rolled up to his elbows, revealing muscular arms with greenish veins throbbing. I couldn’t help but stare. No wonder women went crazy about him.Suddenly, I felt hands gripping my waist, and a wave of discomfort washed over me. I shifted slightly."Mr. Dylan, I already told you, I'm not the kind of woman who sleeps around with men," I tried to set my boundaries once again. His expression darkened."What do you think of me, Ashley? Do you think I'm close to you because I want to fuck you?" His words were blunt, hitting me like a punch to the gut. I swallowed hard. I felt embar
The day had finally arrived. The deal I had kept on hold for over a year, waiting for the perfect moment, was here and now. I had hoped that one day she would return, and I would use this deal to get her. And everything happened as I expected. I could have stopped the news of her slapping Vini Weber from spreading yesterday, could have steadied the Weber Group’s shares with a single phone call. But I wanted more than a simple “thank you” from her. I wanted her. I'd sacrifice a fortune for her—three billion, thirty billion—it didn’t matter. But she was blind to see how much I needed her, how desperate I was to make her mine. "Did you hear that?" she asked again, her voice slicing through my thoughts. I opened the drawer and pulled out the contract I had prepared weeks ago, the paper cool against my fingers. I pushed it across the desk. Her eyes widened when she read the term contract on the papers. "What is this?" “Read it,” I replied, keeping my tone measured, hiding the e
