Hunter 1: Weird Dream

Hunter 1: Weird Dream

I woke up and realized I was in a strange place. However, the fact that I’m in the middle of a forest confuses me. I was alone myself when I felt the cold breeze brush over my skin, and it startled me. I dislike feeling the chilly wind on my skin. Being here is terrifying for me.

I begin to look into my surroundings, but the longer I stay here, the more frightened I am. Merely having the moonlight illuminate me, this gloomy forest terrifies me. That is, until I heard a distant, gentle voice calling my name, and my feet automatically walked to follow it.

“Sabrina…”

Anticipating to see who owns that voice, I turn to glance around. However, even though I’ve been hearing and following that voice, I can’t seem to figure out who owns it. I’m beginning to feel afraid, yet every time I hear that calm, oddly familiar voice, my worry subsides.

“Sabrina…”

Who are you?!” This time, I decided to speak with that person, but I got no response, and my voice merely reverberated throughout this unknown wilderness.

“Sabrina…”

As I continued to speak, the wind became stronger. “Who are you?! What exactly do you need from me?! Show yourself!” I yelled again, hoping to receive a response from the person who owned that voice.

“You will understand soon, my child. However, you must hear me out first…”

The voice responded as if it was just near me. Despite being perplexed by the voice’s response, I chose to pay attention to what it had to say. I only said, “Tell me.” Waiting to hear the voice’s next words.

Yet before it could respond, I was caught off guard by a warm rush of wind that engulfed me. While I closed my eyes to enjoy the warm wind, I had no idea that someone was already in front of me and would soon leave me wondering.

“You must learn about our real world, my child. Learn about the immortals that we have worked hard to keep hidden from you. That is the key to knowing who you truly are so that you will never have to stay hidden anymore.”

A very familiar voice said, and when I opened my eyes, I was just taken aback seeing the face of my mother in front of me. The face that I haven’t seen for a long time. The face that I have been dreaming of seeing again for a long time.

Seeing my mother in front of me again evokes a range of feelings, but one thing is certain: I miss her so badly that I can’t stop crying. Particularly when her hand, which was no longer warm, caressed my cheek.

“Mommy…” I whispered as she smiled.

“Your father and I sincerely apologize for abandoning you at an early age. We apologize for keeping you hidden from the place where you truly belong. Yet, if you allow yourself to enter that realm, we can guarantee you won’t need to worry about anything since it will grant you the life you have always wanted.”

Mom’s voice was extremely comforting, and I wanted to tell her so much: they didn’t have to apologize for leaving me too soon. It wasn’t their choice either. That grandfather made every effort to provide me with a comfortable life.

However, it appears like I have lost my voice, and all I can do is cry in front of her. Mom kissed me on the forehead and embraced me before adding, “You’ll find the one who will love and accept you soon. When that time comes, give our regards to that person, our little treasure.”

Hearing that, I was startled by a cold gust of wind once again and opened my eyes just to find myself alone amid the forest. I turn around and search for my mother, but she has already disappeared. She seemed to have vanished again, shattering my heart.

“Mom?! Mommy!” I yelled in desperation, but just to be greeted by silence.

I scan my surroundings in the hopes of seeing my mother, but all I see are five large wolves sprinting in my direction. I was taken aback at first, but when I saw their vicious gaze on me, my body began to run on its own, forgetting about my mother.

I was terrified while running away from them, especially since they had trapped me and were ready to attack me at any time. Seeing them closely, I observed that these are not ordinary wolves. They have brown fur and yellow eyes that are aggressively staring at me.

My heart is racing as I try to figure out how to beat them and get away from them. But in the blink of an eye, I witnessed them being vanquished by another wolf. A magnificent silver wolf that is larger and stronger than the brown, ordinary-looking wolves.

I was perplexed when I witnessed what happened, but when the moonlight illuminates the wolfs silver fur, I cant help but find the wolf enchanting. Not until it gazed at me with its golden-yellow eyes and sent me feelings I couldnt comprehend.

I couldn’t stop gazing at those eyes, and I just saw how his eyes brightened in a brief amount of time, conveying an unknown sensation to me. However, my heart is racing quicker than normal, as if lightning struck me.

I was baffled as the wolf continued to look at me until I felt a sharp ache in my chest. I was staring at the wolf, so all I could see was how horrified the wolf was to see the arrow piercing my chest. It even seemed to have traumatized the wolf, which is why I smiled reassuringly.

But I had just seen the wolf shift into a man as I was about to lose consciousness. Afterwards, he approached me and his attractively anxious expression caught my attention. I can see him saying something, but my ears are already ringing until I eventually succumb to oblivion.

My chest hammered as I woke up, gasping for air. I place my palm where my heart is and gently stroke it to help me relax. I let out many sighs as I tried to get over the nightmare, which had left me feeling a lot of indescribable emotions.

I was sweating coldly as I searched for a glass of water on my bedside table. I just remembered, though, that I didn’t bring one, so I had to walk into the kitchen to get some water. It’s 3:25 AM already, and I was used to this type of thing by now.

I drank a glass of water as soon as I arrived in the kitchen to calm myself down. It’s so annoying that I usually wake up at this hour from dreams that I can’t even recall. I leaned against the kitchen counter, thinking back to my dream

I don’t recall much about the first scenario, but the last scenario where the wolves are was still vivid. But one thing is certain: the feelings I had in that dream seemed very genuine, especially the silver wolf’s eyes and that man’s look when he saw me in that state.

I signed once again and shut my eyes, only to be greeted by his divine beauty and a figure that seemed to have been crafted by a master craftsman. My cheeks burned as I quickly opened my eyes and drank another glass of water.

“It is unbelievable that I’m crushing on a man who only exists in my dreams.” I can’t help but utter. I even give myself a meek slap on the face to get out of my reverie.

After that, I returned to my room to resume sleeping. However, just as I was ready to drift back to sleep, I recalled the first scenario of my dream—that is, the words that the ‘mysterious’ lady had told me. The phrases that kept me up throughout the night.

My head hurts for not having a proper sleep. Until now, I was still thinking about my weird dream last night. I also have this strong feeling that this is not the first time I dreamed about it. A kind of dream that I shouldn’t ignore for it held an important message.

“You must learn about our real world, my child.”

What real world, huh?

Learn about the immortals that we have worked hard to keep hidden from you.

And ‘immortals’?

“That is the key to knowing who you truly are so that you will never have to stay hidden anymore.

A key to knowing who truly I am, huh?

It seems ludicrous and foolish, yet even though I felt this way, I can’t completely disregard it. I simply don’t want to believe that it has a deeper meaning. Something that will push me into the unknown and make me face it.

I groaned, forcing myself to concentrate, and looked at my closest cousin before saying, “Are you really going to leave this place for good?”

I am now helping them in packing their belongings in preparation for their departure tomorrow. Although I am aware of the reason they are permanently leaving our grandfather’s care, I still asked again. I’m really sad right now, but I can’t stop them either.

“For the third time, my dear cousin, my answer remains yes,” she said without looking at me. “You know why, and besides, we promise to visit Cadwell Mansion if we have the opportunity.”

I pouted, “Where exactly is that town?” I asked with a hidden intention, but she caught it immediately. Nevertheless, she chose to respond to me.

“Lavereena Town,” she answered shortly.

I finished what I was doing before remembering if I had been to that town previously, yet I had never been there before. It seems like a pretty remote town, and I feel strange in some manner. I’m not sure; I just had the impression that it wasn’t just a typical town.

Weird.

I enjoy traveling to new places, and even though I have been to many, this town was the only one that left me with this impression. Urging me to go see it for myself, yet at the same time something is holding me back, and I’m not sure why.

Nevertheless, I persisted in asking. “Exactly where? Is this place too far away?” I was intrigued, but as she looked at me with scrutinizing eyes, I just pouted again.

She placed both hands on her waist and proceeded to reprimand me sternly. “I know what you are thinking! But trust me when I say this: you shouldn’t go to that place! It’s too far away and risky to visit on your own!” She walked towards me before continuing. “Do you remember what happened last time?” She raised her brow at me, and I couldn’t help but wince at what she said, recalling what happened to me on my previous trip.

“You know I love long rides…” I reasoned. “Besides, something is compelling me to visit that town. To think that town gives me a peculiar feeling. As if it were full of mystery, and that mystery had to unfold—” I paused as I noticed my cousin’s reaction.

I can’t figure out why she’s gazing at me with such surprise. It seems as though she wasn’t prepared for me to say such things. Like, that place is truly strange, just as I perceive it to be, which piques my interest even more, but something tells me it is a bad decision.

Raine, my cousin, then placed both hands on my shoulders and looked at me with a serious gaze. This is not something I am used to. I was particularly struck by her tone and the things she said to me.

“Brina, bear in mind that you want your life to remain normal and peaceful. Therefore, you have to stay away from things that will cause you to lose it if you want to keep it that way,” she started seriously. “But of course, if fate has different plans for you, then it’s up to you either you accept or reject it.” She continued: Leaving me perplexed and in stunned silence.

What the hell does she mean?
