Tanya’s POV
The girl turned around, a huge smile on her face…. “Hi, I'm…..” at the same time I said “Monica!!!! Hey! What are you doing here?”“Oh, this is my new room”, Monica stated.“Wow, this is my room as well. Been here for a week” I told her excitedly. Monica’s smile faltered a little if I wasn't paying close attention to her, I wouldn't have noticed.“That explains the decor”, Monica said in a weird tone. “What?” I was confused…. “Oh nothing, I'm glad we're roommates” she stated in an overly chirpy voice. “Me too,” I exclaimed, equally excited.I had always hoped for a roommate who would become my confidante, my comrade, someone who would understand and support me through the ups and downs of college life. I'm more than happy and content with the fact that I got Monica as my roommate, the first and only person who has been kind to me so far.I glanced around the dorm room, tidying up my belongings as Monica was out for class, the door swung open, revealing Monica with a warm smile."Hi there! I'm Monica, your new roommate," she introduced herself, extending her hand for a friendly handshake, beaming up at me.With a quizzical look, I shook her hand with a smile, returning the energy. "Nice to meet you, Monica. I'm Tanya. I'm so thrilled to have a roommate who seems friendly." We both burst out laughing after this exchange.Feeling like a fish out of water in Shadowclaw, I found an unexpected guide in Monica, who was a local. "Let me show you the hidden gems of this town," Monica suggested with a knowing smile. We explored the quirky shops, stumbling upon a charming bookstore where Monica shared stories of local legends. "This place holds the heart of Shadowclaw," she said, and suddenly, the town seemed less daunting. Our afternoons turned into picnics in the park, exchanging stories of our childhoods. "You'll see, Shadowclaw has a way of growing on you," Monica reassured me.A local café became our regular spot, where Monica introduced me to the best pastries in town. "Consider it a warm welcome," she said, and suddenly, Shadowclaw felt a bit more like home.Despite the beauty of our budding friendship, there were challenges. Lisa and Janet, my insufferable bullies, started making snide remarks. "Shadowclaw's too good for you, Tanya," Lisa sneered.Monica, protective of her town and our growing bond, stood up to them. "Why don't you focus on your own lives instead of bothering others?" she retorted.Facing the bullying together, Monica and I reported the incidents, determined to preserve the positive atmosphere we were building. Our evenings of exploring local movie spots turned into a sanctuary, where the laughter drowned out the negativity."I guess, with you, Shadowclaw doesn't feel so bad," I admitted to Monica one evening. She smiled, "You're finding your way. Let's keep exploring and make this town our own adventure-filled story."In Monica, I found not only a guide to Shadowclaw but also a true friend who helped turn a new and intimidating place into a welcoming home.Over the next few days, Monica and I spent time together, chatting and getting to know each other. Monica seemed genuinely interested in my hobbies and aspirations, and it felt as though we were becoming fast friends. One evening, as we were lounging in our room, I opened up about my struggles with the two girls who seemed to have it out for me on campus. "It's been so tough, Monica. I never understood why they singled me out. I've always tried to be kind to everyone."Monica sighed sympathetically. "I know, Tanya. It's terrible how mean some people can be. But let me assure you, you've got a friend in me. I'll always have your back, and we'll navigate through this together."I felt a wave of relief wash over me. Finally, I thought, someone who understands and supports me. I trusted Monica completely, unaware of the hidden agenda lurking behind my friend's facade.Days turned into weeks, and I noticed changes in her interactions with other students. The bullies seemed to have toned down their harassment. I couldn't help but feel grateful to Monica, believing that her presence had made a difference. One afternoon, while I was absent from the room, Monica's true intentions were revealed. As I entered the room, I overheard Monica talking to someone on the phone, her voice filled with malicious delight."Can you believe she thinks I'm her friend? It's too easy to manipulate her," Monica laughed, unaware of my presence just outside the door.I stood frozen, my heart sinking as I realized the truth. Monica, my supposed friend, was the mastermind behind all the torment I had endured. The revelation shattered my trust and left me feeling vulnerable and betrayed.Summoning the strength to confront Monica, I entered the room with a composed facade, hiding the hurt that gnawed at my insides. "Monica, we need to talk," I said calmly, my voice barely concealing the pain.Startled, Monica turned around, her expression quickly morphing from delight to panic. "Tanya, how much did you hear?" she stammered, unable to meet my eyes."I heard enough," I replied, my voice firm. "I can't believe that someone I trusted could betray me like this. I thought we were friends."Monica's face fell, guilt evident in her features. "Tanya, I..."I couldn't stay there and listen to whatever lies she was going to vomit from her treacherous lips, so I left. Days went by with us ignoring each other. As the weeks passed, Monica, who once seemed like the perfect roommate—helping me settle in, offering a listening ear, and sharing laughter had become a total stranger with whom I share a room. One evening, as I worked on my laptop, Monica entered the room with a group of girls in tow. "Mind if we hang out here for a bit?" Monica asked casually, her eyes locking onto mine. I looked at the girls, noticing they were Lisa and Janet. The very girls that had decided to make my university life a living hell.Gulping, I said…."Sure, no problem”.As the group settled in, Monica's tone shifted from friendly to menacing. "You know, Tanya, we've been talking, and we think it's time for you to, uh, adjust your social circle," she sneered, casting a glance at her cohorts who snickered in agreement.Confused and hurt, Tanya stammered, "What do you mean? I thought we were friends."The girls' peals of laughter cut through the room like a blade. "Friends? Sweetie, you bought into that? We just thought it would be amusing to see how long it took for you to catch on." Monica said snickering. “And although short, it was fine while it lasted”.“We’ll give you a week, move somewhere else or be prepared to die here before your time”, Lisa chipped in.Laughing, Janet said “Don't pee your pants just yet darling, save that for when we make your life a living hell”“How do you expect me to do that? I have no money, I’m new here. How do you expect me to move?” I exclaimed, crying.“Not our business, freak” Monica sneered. “Get your shit face outta here in a week or prepare a casket for your funeral”. They all stood up and messed up my corner of the room, leaving me there sobbing in the middle of the mess they created.Tanya’s POVFeeling the weight of Monica's unexpected threat, I knew I had to find a new place fast. My days became a whirlwind of stress and uncertainty as I embarked on the journey of searching for a new hostel.I wandered through the streets of Shadowclaw, scanning every "For Rent" sign and jotting down phone numbers. The weight of my backpack seemed heavier with each rejection, and the fear of being unwelcome lingered in the pit of my stomach. At one point, I stumbled upon a hostel called Moonlight Haven. The name itself felt like a soothing balm for my troubled soul. I cautiously approached the reception, my nerves on edge. The receptionist, a friendly woman with a warm smile, greeted me. "Looking for a place to stay?"I nodded, "Yeah, just moved here, and things didn't work out at my previous hostel."She handed me a brochure, "Moonlight Haven might be the perfect fit for you. We believe in creating a peaceful, welcoming environment."The atmosphere at Moonlight Haven was notice
Tanya’s POVAs I stepped into Moonlight Haven that night, a mix of anticipation and uncertainty hung in the air. The decision to leave my previous hostel, haunted by the cruel whispers and the weight of constant bullying, led me to this seemingly ordinary yet oddly inviting place.Moonlight spilled through the windows, casting a soft glow on the worn-out carpets that crunched beneath my shoes. Little did I know that within these walls, a world untouched by ordinary rules awaited. The air buzzed with an inexplicable energy, whispering secrets that eluded my understanding. The creaking of the old staircase echoed my apprehension as I made my way through the dimly lit corridors. The hostel seemed to hold stories in its timeworn bricks, stories I had yet to uncover. It was a moonlit beginning, a fresh start, unbeknownst to me that the ordinary facade concealed extraordinary secrets that would shape the course of my life in ways I could never have imagined. The door groaned softly as I ent
Tristan’s POVI toyed with the night lights of my pack bedroom, first pressing the switch button on the remote and then shutting them off after a few seconds, watching the room flicker between brightness and darkness simultaneously.I turned around in bed, my head going from resting on my arms to the pillow to the bed itself, with my eyes closed I tried to get in at least 2-3 hours of sleep after working the whole day. Usually, after my busy day working 14 hours, I would be out succumbing to darkness but for the past 2 days, it has been the opposite. I've been struggling to sleep, my mind racing with thoughts of the weirdly attractive human girl I met in the woods behind Moonlight Haven.I can hear the raindrops falling against the glass wall which gives a picturesque scene of the whole pack. ShadowClaw pack. This very pack became mine too early and probably would have an alpha born of a loveless marriage after me. It's a shame that my father got ill and can't continue his pack duties
Tanya’s POVThe next morning, I woke up feeling woozy, like I had hit my head on a wall. The events of yesterday came rushing back to my head spontaneously most especially those haunting hazel eyes that deprived me of my sleep. I had so many questions but no means to get answers, Ms. Grant would not talk to me either, and looking at the creepy nature of my housemates, I knew making the moves to get answers would be a dead end. I resolved not to let it overwhelm me, I’ll take it a day at a time. I looked at the time, jumped out of bed, and ran to the bathroom. I was going to be late for Professor Eugene’s class. I took off the nightwear I wore and tossed it farther from the bathtub as I entered the old and unbalanced Jacuzzi tub. It had lost its original color which I believed was white, I imagined how long it hadn’t been in use for. I felt a relaxing kind of sensation that soothed my insides so much immediately my skin made contact with the warm water. It reminded me of home, it also
Tristan’s POVMy mind never stopped running back to her. She had made herself at home in my head and I loved how it made me feel. I went from my usual morning run and I suddenly felt a twinge of ecstasy in my chest that caused me to stop in my tracks. A powerful scent that sought nothing but to bring me to my knees engulfed me. It was her, I knew it was her, that human with those beautiful pure eyes I met in my wolf form that day in the woods, she was close. I looked around anxiously for a sign of her, but I got none and it was beginning to piss me off. SKY, my wolf was pacing inside of me, he sizzled with so much energy, and he felt her too. “She’s here…somewhere close, I can feel her, Yesssss, I can feel her” Sky giggled inside me, I felt him surfacing, a sign that he wanted her so badly. “Take it easy, will you? You can’t possibly surface here, we might just end up scaring her away, I can’t even get a sight of her and it’s frustrating me, don’t add your tension to my already tens
Tanya’s POVI felt eyes someone’s eyes was watching my every move but I didn’t give much thought to it, for I know it could be the other students of Mystique University who also saw me as an alien. After my class that morning, I headed to the cafeteria, I was hungry and since I hadn’t eaten in the morning, the insects in my stomach were beginning to bite me profusely. I felt uncomfortable gazes on me, I wanted to disappear and reappear at the cafeteria but HA! I am no magician or witch. I looked down the whole time as I took careful steps as though the ground was going to break if I walked any harder than I did. When I got there, the gazes never stopped, rather they multiplied. I made my way to the counter and ordered food mac and cheese. That was all I could afford at that time because I had run out of money. I placed the order and waited for a few minutes for it to be processed. After a little while, the counter attendant rolled over a tray to me. I carried the food from the counter
The pressure coming from the pack about the Alpha getting a Luna became too much ever since the incessant attacks by rogues began. The people feared the rogues may conquer them because their alpha’s strength was limited, he needed a mate to make him stronger and a Luna to oversee the affairs of the pack should he go into battle. Tristan feared that the attacks on his pack by rogues might continue and a darker time would come thus he needed all the strength and power he could gather. He understood the importance of having his mate by his side so he decided to make moves to win Tanya over. He knew nothing about wooing a woman, especially a human. He was used to the women coming unto him, and he planned to make her fall in love with him naturally since she was human, it would take him time to properly woe her the way the humans do in their world, but if she were their kind, {if she was a werewolf} the mate bond would’ve already found a way of bringing them closer to each. She had not see
The next morning, the sun beamed exuding its glories through the thick blue clouds, the birds were already about their morning rituals, chirping and flapping their wings from tree to tree. There was a cool breeze that was blowing all over. There was a sweet moisture that filled the air. That was the kind of weather that sent the werewolves into a moment of joy, it was going to be a good day. It made them remember the moon goddess had their interests at heart. They felt it but never was able to fathom what exactly was going to happen. The only people who were privileged to such knowledge were the Witches usually referred to as the Nights. They were augurs and sibyls meaning they could foresee the future, read people’s minds, and offer judgments to offenders. They were rare in ShadowClaw. Their lineage was wiped off several years ago by Tristan’s great-great-grandfather who saw them as rebellious to his reign. Whenever beautiful mornings such as this one arose in ShadowClaw the pack me
Tristan's POV. In a short matter of time, my men and I were at the Old Nights Villa. As usual, the house looked deserted and with the thick eeriness that covered the whole place, it took only the strong minded to go close. The house had been labeled haunted hence unapproachable since I was a young boy and I hadn't been here too. We were all ready to go in and fight to redeem our pack and take my mate back home with me. I turned and signalled my men to go ahead and surround the house while Tarrell and I stayed back. We headed into the house after my men had all taken their respective positions. As we stepped into the house, the eeriness followed. The living room was filled with dust and cobwebs, making it look deserted. Even with the eerie outlook of the room, I could still feel the presence of someone else hovering steadily in the room. "Someone is in here, I can feel it." Tarrell said as though he read my mind."You can feel it too..." I turned to him and said. "It's easy to fi
TristanAs regards the information we got from Tanya and her friends, the rogues who caused all the trouble for me were still very much in my pack and I had to plan discreetly before taking them out. I gathered my men in the meeting area outside my office space and after having a brief one with them, I turned to the rest of my men.“As you all know, we have found a way to tune down the phenomenon that has threatened our peace over the last few days and we have our Luna to thank for that. But that is not all, I have some interesting news to share.” I could see the cheerfulness on their faces but that was until I spoke again. “An interesting news that is a bit disturbing thus, we need to handle it immediately. The rogues are in our pack. They have been running their affairs secretly from the Old Nights Villa.” The announcement came to them as a shock, it was evident from the way they exchanged questionable glances at each other. The gazes were accompanied with murmuring. “Now I blame
Tanya's POVI woke up with a loud headache, looking around, all I could see was darkness. Only then did I remember that I had been captured by those strange men and my driver was killed."Help! Help!!" I cried out. I heard footsteps approaching and I shouted again. "Help!" The door opened revealing a tall figure, at least from where I sat, he was tall. The light shone through the door into the room. "Who are you and why did you bring me here? Where is this place?" I asked the man who walked in.The man said nothing and just stood there watching me. Moments later, I heard the sound of a phone tapping like he was about to call someone. "She is awake, I heard him say to whoever it was that he called. "I am coming there now." The other man said from the other end of the phone. I was consumed with fear at that moment, I covered my hands over my chest as though I was trying to stop my heart from escaping my body. The small hairs across my body stood on end as tingle rushed across my s
Orion’s POVWe waited at the house while my men went into the pack as usual to spread out the substance. It was past the time they usually returned and that was when anxiety set in. I stood outside the balcony pacing and looking out for them. I heard footsteps approaching and I immediately hid behind the pillar, I took out my knife and waited for whoever it was to come. I peeped through to see who it was as he approached. It was one of my men, he was injured badly. Even without asking, I knew something wasn’t right.“What happened? Where are the rest of your men? I impatiently asked. He didn’t say anything and just fell to the ground. Taking a closer look at him, I saw that he was beaten on the neck. “I’m asking you a damn question.” I yelled at him as I was running out of patience. “They were killed and they took the rest of them. We have a problem. The substance is no longer working and from what we gathered, the Alpha’s mate concocted an antidote and all the pack members took i
Tristan’s POVDarkness spread all over the place and the time had also gone too. I entered the room to meet her curled up in a duvet. She was already asleep. She had been working all through the day and she needed sleep. I walked over and sat on the bed beside her. I gently pushed away the strands of hair that covered her face. She batted her eyes and slowly opened them then smiled sweetly. "Hey!" She greeted me."Hey Princess." I responded. She gently sat up with her back leaning to the bed frame. "I'm sorry I slept off, I was too tired. How did it go?" She asked with her sleep filled eyes and voice. "It's okay, I need you to sleep too, you had a long day...and, it went well, we were able to distribute the substance to the people. Thank you Tanya, this is by far the greatest thing anyone has ever done for me." I was really grateful. "We were made for each other, so whatever pain you feel, I feel it too, your people are mine and I will be here to help in any and every way I can."
Tristan's POV Gathering the people wasn't going to be an easy task but I was going to get it done regardless. As we drove further into the pack, I brought my phone out and placed a call to Tarrell. "Get the men ready and hurry to the houses closer to the borders, assemble all of them at the old pack house. Let every living soul Shadowclaw pack be there, young and old, male and female. Do it now!" I ordered. I ended the call and sat back in the seat. I couldn't lie, my body was shaking. The emotions that engulfed me at that point were intense in every level, relief and fear spread through my insides too."We will stop by the house, Princess, you won't be joining us. It's too risky for you and the..." I halted immediately. She didn't know it yet and that wasn't the best time to break such news to her. Immediately she looked at me with confused eyes, she knew I wanted to say something but I decided not to. "Is everything okay Tristan?" She quietly asked. In order not to lie to her
Tanya’s POVI entered his office and there he was sitting in his chair with his back to the door, anybody who saw him that way would know he had so much on his mind. I had to talk to my friends, we had a curing chemical, and we needed to bring it out immediately. I walked over to him and stood right in his face, he sighed heavily immediately he saw. His eyes were puffed and swollen, he had obviously cried so much. I thought about so many things to do to make him but nothing was coming to mind. I leaned in and placed a soft kiss on his lips. It made him soften up a little. “Take him to the fountain, he will feel better.” The voice in me said and I was going to do just that. “Come with me.” I held his hand and he obediently stood and followed after me. I gestured at one of the guards to get into the car and drive. He sat there quietly all through the drive but his hand held onto mine so tight while I gently rubbed it.The guard followed my instruction and after a few minutes of d
Tarrell’’s POVThe night was old, the moon hung low in the sky and basked in its full glory. The pack was quiet, everybody had gone to bed too. I was about to go to bed too when I heard loud growling of the wolves, there was trouble and we had to rush to see what it was immediately. As I rushed out, Tristan was already rushing out.“What was that?” I asked.“I think they are trouble. Alert the men, we are heading out into the city now.” He ordered and I began to mind link the guards. We didn’t waste any time, we shifted immediately and allowed our wolves to take control and immediately they did, we ran into the woods heading towards the direction we felt the wolves’ scent coming from.We got there and saw dead bodies on the ground. Their eyes, nose, ears and mouth were all covered with blood. They were killed by the chemical. One of them was still breathing, Tristan rushed to her. “What happened?” He anxiously and furiously asked.“We…were partying…and suddenly, everybody became di
Tanya’s POVAfter a heated bath, we dressed up and headed out together. Adeline had already set the table for breakfast. She stood by waiting for us while Tarrell had already begun eating. There were four other men standing by the door, they were in all black and looked rather scary. “Good Morning Adeline…Morning Tarrell.” I cheerfully greeted them. “Morning Luna, how was your sleep?” Adeline asked. The look she gave me was rather odd, her eyes made me feel there was more to it but I waved it off, maybe she was just worried about me passing out last night.“It was fine Adeline, thank you for taking care of me last night, Tristan told me.” “It’s nothing my dear.” She humbly said.“Hi Tarrell.” I greeted again when I didn’t hear his response.“Hi Luna… How was your night and most especially your morning?” Tarrell teasingly asked, he definitely had his ears in our room. My face blushed pink with embarrassment.“And what is that supposed to mean?” Tristan looked at him and asked.“Oh!
