Anya’s POV:

“Congratulations, Mrs. Carter, you are pregnant and expecting to have more than one.” The gynecologist said as she handed the report to me.

‘Pregnant?’ I was stunned for a moment before I took the report from her. I subconsciously touched my belly as I still couldn’t believe life was lying here. Had I heard right? I was really pregnant?’

“Mrs. Carter, however, you must be careful. Our examination indicates that your uterine wall is fragile, and you are expecting more than one child, which is very dangerous for your life.” The doctor said to me seriously as she could see the shock in my eyes.

“I understood,” I said as take the reports and prescription from her.

I walked out of the hospital in a daze, as I didn’t know how what to do. I am conflicted about whether I should tell Evan about my pregnancy or not.

Even though Evan and I had been married for two years, our marriage was nothing more than a marriage between two families. And if for not the incident three years ago, I wouldn’t have been even married to Evan.

At the thought of what happened three years ago, my heart ached. That incident changed my whole life.

Two years ago, at the engagement banquet of Evan and Tara, my half-sister, after being set up by someone, I ended up having sex with Evan, who was also drugged.

The next day the scandal that Walter’s Group's eldest daughter hooked up with her brother-in-law was all over the news.

Because of the incident, Tara’s mental state broke down, and she was sent abroad for treatment.

And, I, Anya Walter, become a most shameless woman, who slept with her brother-in-law.

However, the Walter and Carter families had been friends for generations and this marriage is meant to deepen the connection between the two families. Hence the elders of both family Karl Walter and Marshall Carter forced me and Evan to get married.

Because of this, Evan hated me even more and believed that it was all my plan to get married to him. And no matter how many times I tried to explain to him however he never believed me at all.

And our marriage became the best way for Evan to vent his anger on me. There is not even a single day in these two years when he didn’t humiliate me…

Every time they had sex, he forced me to eat birth control pills, because he didn’t want me to give birth to his child, as he thought that I was not qualified to give birth to his child.

After thinking for a while, I looked at the driver and said, “Take me to the Garden Villa.”

Hearing that, the driver looked at me with doubt and asked again, “Madam, are you sure?”

“Yes, I am sure!” I took a deep breath and spoke. In the end, I decide to tell Evan about the child. I didn’t want my child to grow up without my father’s love, since I had experienced how it felt and I don’t my child to experience the same.

“It was also his blood and flesh, he will not be cruel to him, right?’ I thought inwardly.

Garden Villa was an extremely upper-class residence area developed in X city. There were only ten spare villas in the community, one of which was owned by the Carters. However, I was not the lady of the house, it was Tara Walter, the true love of Evan Carter. Ever since Tara returned from abroad, she lived there.

About half an hour later, the car stopped. Looking at the luxurious villa in front of me, I took a deep breath got out of the car, and strode into the villa.

As soon as I entered the house, I saw Tara sitting on the sofa in the living room. She draped in an elegant dress that seemed like something noble and elegant ladies should wear.

As if she was already anticipating me to show up, Tara was not surprised to see me.

She shot me a haughty look and displayed her authority over the house and asked, “Anya, what are you doing here?”

However, I was not in the mood to talk nonsense with her, so I said coldly, “I am here for Evan.” After saying that, I head to the upstairs.

However, Tara blocked me with her arm.

“That’s too bad! Evan worked late last night but still somehow found the energy to wake me up for some action. He only dozed off around the time the sun came up and is still sound asleep, so why don’t you go back for now?” she said with a smug grin.

Even though I knew that she was goading intentionally, I still felt a tightness in my chest.

Nevertheless, I managed to compose myself as best as I could and asked politely, “Where is his room? I will leave after discuss something with him.”

Tara looked at the top of the stairs and answered impatiently, “Anya, do you, by any chance, happen to speak a different language? I already told you that Evan is sleeping and doesn’t have time to see you. If you have anything to tell him, just wait until he gets home.”

Hearing that I felt another pang in my chest, as Evan had not been home for two full months.

Needless to say, I know that Tara was saying all this to provoke me.

I took a deep breath to calm myself down.

Even though I know our marriage is nothing more than a way for him to torture me, in these two years of marriage, I still tried my best to fulfill my duty as Mrs. Carter, not to mention not I am pregnant. I didn’t want my child to be born into a broken family, so I wanted to give a one more try…

Thinking that, I walked up to the stairs. However, before I could even reach the second floor, Tara suddenly caught up with me, grabbed my wrist, and yelled, “Anya, have you no sensibility? I already told you not to disturb Evan’s rest. Get the hell out of here.”

I was anxious to see Evan and belted angrily, “Tars, Evan is my husband. You have no right to stop me form seeing him!”

Hearing that Tara scoffed, “If it wasn’t for your nasty conniving two years ago that Evan left with no choice to marry you, I would have been the one to marry him instead. You never meant to be Mrs. Carter.”

I was not expecting Tara to bring up what happened two years ago. I was upset by this as my eyes turned red, “I was also the victim on that night two years ago. And it was out families who forced us to get married.”

At that moment, Tara suddenly put on a troubled expression and exclaimed, “Anya, what are you doing? Let me go!”

Before I could understand what was going on, Tara immediately loosened her grip on my hand, rolled down to the stairs, and fell hard against the floor.

Blood suddenly flows out from her forehead.

I just stood there frozen, not realizing what was going on until a tall figure emerged from the corner of the second floor.

Seeing Evan running there in a hurry, I suddenly seemed to realize what was going on and why Tara suddenly fell.

As soon as Evan walked over, the temperature in the room dropped by several degrees, and the atmosphere became unbearably tense.

“Anya, what did you do to Tara?” His voice was filled with rage as he uttered these words.

My face turned pale as I realized Evan’s rage was directed towards me and I hurriedly explained, “Evan, it wasn’t me who pushed her. She fell on her own!”

“Do I look blind to you?” Evan's gaze was icy and piercing like a knife in my heart.

The man in front of me was my husband, whom I had not seen for a month. However, the moment we met, he didn’t even ask for my explanation before forming his conclusion.

After all, I was his wife!

I felt an unbearable sadness swelling inside me.

When Evan walked past me, I subconsciously tugged at his arm and tried to explain, “Evan, I didn’t push her. I…”

However, before I could finish speaking, he pushed me away and said, “Scram!”

Because of this, I lost my footing and fell from the stairs as well. However, Evan didn’t even look back at me as he picked Tara from the floor and ran out of the house in a hurry.

I looked his back with my eyes full of despair. The husband whom I had been married to for two years, just left me like this for another woman…

At that moment, I felt a warm liquid flowing from my body. Seeing the blood between my legs, my went blank…

‘My baby… My baby…’

I panicked as the doctor's words came to my mind. I quickly searched for my phone and dialed 911.

“Help! Please…. Save my baby…”

As I said, I felt an unbearable pain in my stomach and my eyes suddenly became heavy… And not long after, I lose my consciousness.
