I didn’t wait for permission to go upstairs. I took the stairs two steps at a time and searched every room until I reached a room with a man sleeping on a king-size bed. A female in a white lab coat was standing by the bed, writing something on a piece of paper on a clipboard.

Ignoring her, I went to the other side of the bed and sat on the edge. The man lying on the bed, with a navy blue comforter, looked like he was sleeping. There was a tube in his mouth for oxygen and another tube that went into his nose, likely a feeding tube.

“Excuse me, miss, but were you permitted to be here?” The female Doctor asked.

“She is fine.” Jack said as he entered the room.

“Okay, well, if you need anything, let me know.” The Doctor said as she backed out of the room. “Also, be sure to consider what we talked about.”
