Cara remained quiet all through the ride. She held back on her tears as they kept threatening to fall. It was a lot of work to keep those waters from pouring down her face.

Arriving at her complex building, she got out of the car and Romeo saw her off to her apartment. She still had to fake being okay even though it was very evident on her face that she was not.

Her legs trembled as she walked but anytime it happened, Romeo held her up with a gentle smile, knowing well what she was going through and not asking any questions.

It had hurt him– even though the words weren't directed at him– when Chris had talked about her inability to have children. It wasn't her fault and he wished he could tell that to her.

At the entrance of her apartment, she stopped and turned to him with a soft smile. “Thank you for today. You are always so helpful.” Her voice was empty of life.

Romeo felt so heartbroken looking at her like that. She was too shattered to be put back together by a few words but he s

  • His Greatest Regret    Vicky's Call

Cara stared at her friend with sympathy. She knew Abigail didn't like talking about how her husband hurt her, who would to be honest? But just to shine a brighter light into the situation, she spoke of her pain. She too could relate to losing someone she loved, after all, her husband had left her for none other than her best friend. If that wasn't pure pain then she didn't know what was. She placed her hand on Abigail's and squeezed it softly. Abigail couldn't help but to chuckle softly. “Who is comforting who?” She asked and Cara chuckled. “We're here for each other and you know that.” Cara said with a soft smile on her face. Abigail nodded her head, a gentle sad smile dangling on her lips. She continued. “So darling, I need you to trust him on this. Leave the choice to him, I know how much you love him and how much he loves you too but forgive me for saying this, if he leaves, then it was never meant to be.” Cara nodded her head, her friend was right, she knew it all along thou

  • His Greatest Regret    Doubt: A virus

“Did you hear? The hitman, your friend's ex boyfriend right? He's been sentenced to twenty years in prison.” Romeo said to Cara. He waited for a response but didn't get any. When he stared closely at her, he realised that she was there but her mind was elsewhere. He placed a hand on hers as he called her name softly. “Cara?”She flinched. “Huh? Oh… sorry. I don't– my mind was elsewhere. What were you saying?” Her brow arched as she asked him. “I was talking about your friend's ex boyfriend. He has been sentenced to twenty years.” He repeated. “Oh wow! That's… that's amazing! Now my mind can be at peace. All this while I was worried that he could be released or something.” She let out a soft breath. Romeo could tell that someone was bothering her. He took her hand in his and caressed it. “What's bothering you?” He asked in a soft and melodic tone. “What makes you think I'm bothered by something?” She asked him, her thin brow arching. He stared at her, knowing well that to him, s

  • His Greatest Regret    Thoughts of Doubt

Romeo was suddenly distorted, it wasn't that he missed her, but hearing her name had altered the proper functioning of his system. But only for a second. Cara arched her brow at him, wondering what was wrong. He shook his head in response, forcing his lips into a slight smile. “Okay,” he said in response to Andrew. “I don't see why it matters to me though.” Andrew peered out of the kitchen of his apartment and glanced at the sophisticated woman sipping from her cup of tea with the grace of a queen. “It matters dude! It f*cking matters because she's sitting in my fr*aking apartment, sipping on my fr*aking tea like a fr*aking queen!” “Dude.” Romeo said. “Sorry, I'm fr*aking out.” Andrew confessed. A low sigh drew from his lips. “What do I do man?” “Wait, how is she in your house? We hadn't even met each other when…” he paused, staring at Cara. Cara just stood there with a smile on her face, waiting for him to end the call. Noticing the pause, Andrew asked. “Is Cara with you?” “

  • His Greatest Regret    I Won't Die

Cara turned to the side with a soft grumble. She felt like she was going to throw up. Sitting up in bed, she wondered why she was feeling that way when she didn't even have alcohol. She wanted to call it morning sickness, but she wasn't sure if it usually happened at midnight sometimes too. Rubbing her weary eyes, she turned to look at Romeo. His chest rose and fell softly, a rhythm that always helped put her at ease. But she still wasn't feeling too good. She didn't want to wake him because his health mattered so much to her and he needed his rest. Managing to climb out of bed, she went into the bathroom and took a shower, hoping to calm herself. Was she hot? Was she cold? Her body was confused. “What the fuck…” she muttered as she returned to the bedroom. She couldn't even throw up. A sigh escaped her lips. “Didn't Abigail tell me these symptoms would stop by the time I'm in my second trimester?” She slid back under the blanket, managing not to wake Romeo up. Turning and tossi

  • His Greatest Regret    His cravings, her satisfaction

“I'm– I'm sorry, that sounded weird. My son is obsessed with car racing and he has one person he idolises. That's you! Your posters are everywhere in his bedroom.” Abigail explained, still feeling flustered. “Oh…! Wow that's an honor. I'd like to meet him sometime if you don't mind.” Jastrow said with a gentle smile. He reached into his pocket, took out his wallet and handed her his card. “Of course! I'll reach out to you.” She replied excitedly as she received the card. Andrew chimed in. “If your son would also like to meet the man behind the masterpiece this bigheaded human being drives then you can also reach out to me.” He said as he slid his card across the table towards her. Abigail smiled and took the card. “Of course. Thank you so much. I'm really happy today and it's not even my wedding.” Cara chuckled. “Alright lovelies,” Andrew called everyone's attention as he clanked softly against his glass with his fork. “Let's have a speech from the bride.”“Wait what? I'm not re

  • His Greatest Regret    Her Son's Bedroom

Morning soon melted into afternoon, the guests and the bride and groom all partied together, drinking expensive champagne and cakes of different flavours. Cara felt a hand tap on her shoulder and she turned around, only to be blessed with the best surprise ever. Her eyes widened as she exclaimed. “Abby! Oh my goodness! You came!” She wrapped her arms around her best friend and pulled her into a tight embrace. Abigail's soft chuckle flowed with the air as she hugged Cara back. “My darling, how could I not? It's your wedding day!” Cara was so happy to see her friend there. She smiled. “I wouldn't have come to my own wedding because I didn't even know it was happening!” She exclaimed with a childish giggle. A soft sigh escaped her lips as she pulled her friend in for one more hug. “You've been so busy! I barely get to see your beautiful face anymore. How's your son?” “I know right!” Abigail exclaimed with a roll of her eyes. “He's fine. He's part of the reason I've been so busy alt
