Chris patiently waited throughout the next day after Cara's sudden disappearance before he had begun to dial her parents' numbers. Of course, no one picked up either!

It was Sunday evening with Jessica with him. He had called her over knowing he could run mad without someone by his side with Cara missing.

Jessica noticed him pacing around as he dialed his phone over and over again. She couldn't take it anymore. "My love?" She called out in a sweet tone. "Can you come over here for a while?"

Chris cut the call and dawdled over to her. She nudged him to take a seat, which he did.

"I know you're worried about her. She's my best friend after all. But she's not a kid and I'm sure she'll be fine. You called me over for a reason, and now you make me feel all lonely."

"Lonely? Oh no, never. I'm sorry, love. I'm just really worried for her, that's all. Her parents won't pick up!" Chris lamented.

He was suddenly looking all haggard and unkempt the more Jessica stared at him. Didn't he say he was over his wife? Why was he still acting like he loved her? Before she could say anything, a maid hurried forward to announce a presence.

"Madam Cara is here, sir." She said so freely like Cara was a superstar. Jessica instantly felt jealous. She knew neither of the maids liked her the way they loved and cherished Cara. She made a mental note to fire everyone of them and hire new ones once she got married to Chris.

Chris jumped up to meet Cara, more like he was running even.

Cara didn't want to go in on purpose, so she waited outside for Chris to come and meet her. She had dialed the number of a familiar housemaid and told her to go announce her presence and also pack her stuff and bring it outside. To her surprise, Jessica walked right behind Chris as they both approached her.

"Oh Cara! Where the hell have you been?? I've been so worried--!" He was rushing forward to squeeze her into a hug but Cara instantly pushed him away from touching her.

"Whatever. Even if you're still angry, that doesn't give you the right to--"

"--I want a divorce." Cara said instantly, cutting him off. Her face was hardened as she had visited with only one goal in mind. Which was to get her stuff from that apartment and announce her divorce.

Chris's face squeezed into a frown. "What? Divorce??" He scoffed. "How is that going to solve anything?? You'll just give up on our marriage that easily??"

Cara couldn't believe what he was saying. "Give up? Are you so dumb you don't realize who has given up barely two years into our marriage?"

Chris shut his eyes in regret and his lips pressed together as he thought carefully of what to say next. "Fine. I made a mistake. But surely there has to be a way to--"

Jessica quickly stepped into their midst. "We can understand your actions on divorce. And we accept."

Chris groaned, muttering something to himself. Then he spat out. "Jessica, this is a serious issue here. You should give us some privacy."

"Yea, Jessica. The adults are talking here." Cara said. She was disgusted to see Jessica in her own husband's house that sudden. But she quickly shrugged off that thought. "But she can stay if she wants to. I guess she's like a mistress, we can call it that."

"She is the mother of my unborn child, Cara." Chris said angrily. "Actually, you know what? Let's get divorced! But just know that you brought this on yourself. It's not my fault Jessica is so better than you, even in bed." Chris was pained that she didn't even act nice to him, so he lashed out on her, hoping to make her angry.

Cara managed to maintain her cool. "Well then, good luck to you two. I think you'll need a lot of it."

"I understand where this is going." Jessica said. "You'll want some sort of compensation. Honey," she called, hugging his arm dearly. "She's my friend and your wife after all. She'll need money. You know, to take care of herself and all."

"Please don't be too angry at her. Where will she start without your compensation? She might go around begging for money from her poor parents, or from yours? And I'm sure the little in her savings won't be enough to take care of her." She kept on saying like she was a caring friend, when she was only mocking Cara.

Chris sighed. "It's such a shame. I really like you, Cara. Can we not divorce?"

Jessica made a startling sound like a growl. "What is this? She has made up her mind so why are you even begging her? Remember, I am pregnant for you, Chris!"

Chris ignored and kept his stare on Cara. "Please, reconsider--"

"Oh shut up, Chris. Enough of your pathetic talk. I always knew you were so indecisive. But right now, you will have no other option but to accept this divorce. And that's final." Cara said upright.

"Fine. But I promise that you'll regret this. I'll try to compensate you with a reasonable sum for the alimony." Chris said through gritted teeth.

Cara only smiled softly. "I don't need anything from you. Come to the Longstate court on Tuesday so we can finalize this shit."

"But then, how are you going to survive you poor Cara? Because we all know how poor you are now without Chris's money." Jessica said in a mocking tone.

Just as soon as she had spoken, a sleek car stopped right outside, diverting all attention towards it. Then a young man stepped out; tall and well dressed. He began to approach them in an elegant manner that soon reminded Cara just how classy Romeo could be.

He welcomed her with a warm smile, dimples crinkling with a deep intense stare that highlighted his sparkling blue eyes. Romeo was handsome and somehow knew that, so he flaunted his beauty everywhere he went with his bold strides and confident manner.

"I thought you would have been done by now, Carina. We don't want to be late for our trip, now do we?" He said in a charismatic tone. Then, made it seem as though he had just been recognizing the presence of Jessica and Chris.

"Oh, pardon my manners. Hello," he said to them. Neither of them could even open their mouths to say a word.

Instantly, Jessica said in a whisper. "Romeo Armani..." It was an effort to pronounce that name out. The Armani household were powerful, wealthy and very famous as the Armani gallery was a huge creation from the past generations of the household, and was still so famous.

And it was so obvious that Romeo was the one to inherit the multi billionaire gallery with numerous expensive art collections.

But what was Cara doing with someone like that? It never occurred to her that Cara was that influential!

"Oh I'm sorry, I'll be with you in a minute." Cara said with a smile. The look on their faces was too amusing to watch that she found herself snickering.

Chris was the one who broke the awkward silence with a questioning tone. "Sorry, um...did I hear correctly? A trip?? What trip, Cara? Who is this man over here in our very own house!"

Cara let out a soft giggle. She realized that Chris had not recognized Romeo to be her best friend, since he had gotten more taller and handsome over the years.

"Will you give me an answer right this instant?" Chris demanded.

"Oh why do you look so angry, Chris? We're getting a divorce soon, so what's wrong?" Cara asked, ignoring the shocking glances on both their faces. "Does it hurt you so much that I'm going on a trip with this fine gentleman?"

Cara stared at her friend with sympathy. She knew Abigail didn't like talking about how her husband hurt her, who would to be honest? She too could relate to losing someone she loved, after all, her husband had left her for none other than her best friend. If that wasn't pure pain then she didn't know what was. She placed her hand on Abigail's and squeezed it softly. Abigail couldn't help but to chuckle softly. “Who is comforting who?” She asked and Cara chuckled. “We're here for each other and you know that.” Cara said with a soft smile on her face. Abigail nodded her head, a gentle sad smile dangling on her lips. She continued. “So darling, I need you to trust him on this. Leave the choice to him, I know how much you love him and how much he loves you too but forgive me for saying this, if he leaves, then it was never meant to be.” Cara nodded her head, her friend was right, she knew it all along thou

  • His Greatest Regret    Doubt: A virus

“Did you hear? The hitman, your friend's ex boyfriend right? He's been sentenced to twenty years in prison.” Romeo said to Cara. He waited for a response but didn't get any. When he stared closely at her, he realised that she was there but her mind was elsewhere. He placed a hand on hers as he called her name softly. “Cara?”She flinched. “Huh? Oh… sorry. I don't– my mind was elsewhere. What were you saying?” Her brow arched as she asked him. “I was talking about your friend's ex boyfriend. He has been sentenced to twenty years.” He repeated. “Oh wow! • His Greatest Regret    Thoughts of Doubt

Romeo was suddenly distorted, it wasn't that he missed her, but hearing her name had altered the proper functioning of his system. But only for a second. Cara arched her brow at him, wondering what was wrong. He shook his head in response, forcing his lips into a slight smile. “Okay,” he said in response to Andrew. “I don't see why it matters to me though.” Andrew peered out of the kitchen of his apartment and glanced at the sophisticated woman sipping from her cup of tea with the grace of a queen. “It matters dude! It f*cking matters because she's sitting in my fr*aking apartment, sipping on my fr*aking tea like a fr*aking queen!” “Dude.” Romeo said. “Sorry, I'm fr*aking out.” Andrew confessed. A low sigh drew from his lips. “What do I do man?” “Wait, how is she in your house? We hadn't even met each other when…” he paused, staring at Cara. Cara just stood there with a smile on her face, waiting for him to end the call. Noticing the pause, Andrew asked. “Is Cara with you?” “

  • His Greatest Regret    I Won't Die

Cara turned to the side with a soft grumble. She felt like she was going to throw up. Sitting up in bed, she wondered why she was feeling that way when she didn't even have alcohol. She wanted to call it morning sickness, but she wasn't sure if it usually happened at midnight sometimes too. Rubbing her weary eyes, she turned to look at Romeo. His chest rose and fell softly, a rhythm that always helped put her at ease. But she still wasn't feeling too good. She didn't want to wake him because his health mattered so much to her and he needed his rest. Managing to climb out of bed, she went into the bathroom and took a shower, hoping to calm herself. Was she hot? Was she cold? Her body was confused. “What the fuck…” she muttered as she returned to the bedroom. She couldn't even throw up. A sigh escaped her lips. “Didn't Abigail tell me these symptoms would stop by the time I'm in my second trimester?” She slid back under the blanket, managing not to wake Romeo up. Turning and tossi

  • His Greatest Regret    His cravings, her satisfaction

“I'm– I'm sorry, that sounded weird. My son is obsessed with car racing and he has one person he idolises. That's you! Your posters are everywhere in his bedroom.” Abigail explained, still feeling flustered. “Oh…! Wow that's an honor. I'd like to meet him sometime if you don't mind.” Jastrow said with a gentle smile. He reached into his pocket, took out his wallet and handed her his card. “Of course! I'll reach out to you.” She replied excitedly as she received the card. Andrew chimed in. “If your son would also like to meet the man behind the masterpiece this bigheaded human being drives then you can also reach out to me.” He said as he slid his card across the table towards her. Abigail smiled and took the card. “Of course. Thank you so much. I'm really happy today and it's not even my wedding.” Cara chuckled. “Alright lovelies,” Andrew called everyone's attention as he clanked softly against his glass with his fork. “Let's have a speech from the bride.”“Wait what? Morning soon melted into afternoon, the guests and the bride and groom all partied together, drinking expensive champagne and cakes of different flavours. Cara felt a hand tap on her shoulder and she turned around, only to be blessed with the best surprise ever. Her eyes widened as she exclaimed. “Abby! Oh my goodness! You came!” She wrapped her arms around her best friend and pulled her into a tight embrace. Abigail's soft chuckle flowed with the air as she hugged Cara back. “My darling, how could I not? It's your wedding day!” Cara was so happy to see her friend there. She smiled. “I wouldn't have come to my own wedding because I didn't even know it was happening!” She exclaimed with a childish giggle. A soft sigh escaped her lips as she pulled her friend in for one more hug. “You've been so busy! I barely get to see your beautiful face anymore. How's your son?” “I know right!” Abigail exclaimed with a roll of her eyes. “He's fine. He's part of the reason I've been so busy alt
