Two days of headache, one horrible nightmare and lots of blank spaced memory was all it took to keep Amara away from Alcohol. Permanently.
When Bethany had suggested they go drinking some time within the week, Amara did not hesitate to flat out reject the suggestion. For some ominous reason, she felt like this time around, if she got drunk and had another ridiculous blackout session, she’d end up doing something stupid, and that she wanted to avoid.
Walking through the doors of her company, the first thing that caught Amara’s attention were brown boxes lined up in the reception.
Was something happening today? She wanted to approach the receptionist or better yet, locate Duncan and question him until answers were provided, but before she could do either, the answer to her question literally walked out.
Jasper carried more boxes in his hand, visibly frowning as he did so.
Now Amara was more than curious and she approached the receptionist
At first, the kiss started off, easy, half assed; if you’d asked the pretty brunette Amara has smashed her lips against. And that exactly what it was meant to be. This action was just a way to show Tobias that he wasn’t a fucking God, he wasn’t all that hot stuff, thinking he could control her life in any way he pleased, telling her who she should ans shouldn’t meet, and that she, was long done listening to his sick orders. However, somewhere along the lines, things shifted and the kiss turned into something deeper, more intimate. The brunette had gotten over his shock and was kissing her back, holding her close. He seemed to have understood the situation faster than Amara liked. Although she didn’t like the fact that he was sticking his damn tongue down her throat, she had no plans of backing out.Because, even with her eyes closed, she could feel Tobias’s eyes burning a hole at the back of her head. She could f
After her encounter with Tobias, Amara had turned herself into a shut in. In a bid not to encounter him a second time, she only went to work, straight home and kept meetings with Gemini virtual.Things seemed fine that way, that is until a week later, Melanie barged into her place, demanding she take a break from her ‘vanilla’ lifestyle and come have lunch with her.“I’m sorry Mel, I have things to do,” She rejected and pointed at the pile of paper of the coffee table. “Company data to read through.”“That’s can wait.” Melanie matched towards her, seizing her shoulders before she had the chance to seat down in front of the coffee table. “Right now, we’re going out to have lunch.”A nice Idea, Amara couldn’t deny, after all, she needed a break from work. But just the thought of running into Tobias, who coincidentally happens to be every and anywhere, had the idea souring in
Edward’s words brought about whispers, good and bad. Many of the executives thought his words were a bit overboard, while other thought that the situation couldn’t have been addressed better.Amara on the other hand, thought his wonders to be utterly ridiculous.“Step down you say,” She cocked her head to the side, eyeing the executive from top to bottom. “For who? You? You think you can do a better job?”Perhaps it was the certainty in her voice, or the way her gaze made him feel, but the executive suddenly felt small, like an ant before a giant. But he didn’t back down. He swallowed thickly, squared his shoulders and continued to challenge Amara. “Anybody who can see that half a billion isn’t enough to run Synergy’s monthly deals, would run this company better that you. I mean look around,” He gestured at the table. “How do you expect our pockets to be funded with so little money.&r
The world couldn’t have played a more ridiculous trick on her. Amara thought as she watched Celestine curtsey and smile innocently. What were the freaking odds!“What is the meaning of this, Celestine?” Melanie questioned, standing up from where she sat and staring at the woman with narrowed eyes.Celestine’s smile did not flatter once. If she was intimidated or irritated by the presence of the two ladies in front of her, which mind you, she was, her professional work smile did not let it show.“I’m only here to assist a customer Miss.” She turned to Amara, totally ignoring what Melanie had to say next. “Is the dress to your liking, Amara?”Amara didn’t answer her question. Rather, she stared up at Celestine, sensing what her intentions were without the younger female needing to speak it out.Whatever belonged to Amara, had first been used by Celestine. This dress and even Tobias&rs
“Go ahead, call the cops,” Tobias barked, moving out of Celestine’s hold and walking towards Amara. He noticed the red marking his finger had left on her cheek, but his thoughts were too consumed with anger for him to care, to feel any sort of remorse.“And while you’re at it, be sure to tell them about all the despicable things you’ve done to Celestine.”“Despicable?” A laugh left Amara’s lip. “What gave you the right to call me such a name?” Her eyes gravitated in Celestine’s direction and she added. “Do you…think-““I know you’ve been playing childish tricks on Celeste. Bullying her, I know-““You know nothing!” Amara hissed. The look of anger written across her face had doubled, and her glare could have pierced through anyone’s soul. However, the only soul that received her wrath was Tobias’s.“
The first emotion that racked over Amara’s body when she was pinned to the floor was fear. Pure, raw fear. Her attacker, whoever they were, pressed so much weight on her back that she grunted in pain.“What? Who the hell are you? Get off!” She struggled, wriggling in his hold.Although she managed to spin around, relieving some of the pressure from her stomach and now laying on her back, she was unable to get her attacker off her.Now laying on her back, able to get a better view, she could see that her attacker was a man, clothed in a thick black hoodie, face mask and a face cap.Everything about him screamed shady and dangerous and it made the hair on the back of Amara’s neck stand all the more.“Let go! Get off me!” She continued to struggle despite the fear she was feeling.Did he have a weapon? Why was he attacking her? Who sent him?All those questions blurred Amara’s mind so much
The first thought that entered Amara’s head as she woke up was ‘shit’.And then, as she became conscious, the pain settled in.The aching pain in her head and the soreness of her back. Then she heard the voices, low considerate whispers.“…thankfully, too much of the drug wasn’t ingested.” An unfamiliar voice said. “Apart from the level of her stress, she seems fine, although I’d recommend a few days rest.”“I see, thank you.” A more familiar voice spoke and Amara manager to pry her eyes open.In the door way stood a doctor and besides him was her knight in shining armor, her bungee partner. The doctor was the middle of giving instructions, but paused when he noticed her awakening.“You’re awake,” He noted, causing the other male’s head to snap in Amara’s direction as quickly as possible. “How are you feeling?”“Fine,” Amara’s voice came out hoarse. She scanned the room she was in, squinting at the unfamiliar surroundings. “Where am I?”“My place.” Her bungee partner answered, settlin
Amara stood in front of the interrogation room’s glass, watching as the officer inside asked series of questions to her attacker. With his hoodie, face mask and cap off, Amara was able to see that he looked like a typical scumbag.Disgusting, how did Tobias think it was a wise idea to hire someone like him? Why did Tobias even think it was a wise idea to hire someone to hurt her?The thought of It angered her more than the ache she felt each time she thought of it.The sound of the door opening pulled Amara away from her thought. She looked in its direction to find the officer stepping out, no longer interrogating her attacker.“Ms. Miller,” The officer greeted her, shoving his hands Into his pocket as he approached her.“What did he say?” Amara straight up asked, only taking her gaze away from the criminal for a few seconds. The officer sighed. "He's refused to say anything concrete, only saying that you
