Tobias couldn't believe his ears.
Amara, the woman who had claimed to love him for the past 6 years and always stuck to him like gum, had filed for a divorce even before he could. This fact kept disturbing him.
He was the one meant to file for a divorce! Not the other way around!
"You're really testing my patience, Amara." He threatened, eyes cold and voice colder. "Don't try to act so big, because at the end of the day, you know what I'm capable of."
"But you don't know mine, Tobias." She countered, not the least bit intimated by his words or aura.
"What are you gonna do? Destroy me, ruin my reputation, destroy Melanie's business, or something along the lines of that?"
"I dare you, Tobias. Try to lay even a finger on the people I hold dare and you'll see just how that'd turn out."
Her threat, despite the confident and arrogant manner she had spoken it in, did little to faze Tobias. He had dealt with bigger and worse wolves, so if Amara thought her little threats were scary, she was dead wrong.
"I see you've decided to shed your fake skin."
"There's a difference between shedding skin and becoming the real me. Try me and I'll show you just who the real me is."
A dark glint flashed in his eyes, his gaze darkening with something she couldn't place a name to. But just as he opened his mouth to speak, Melanie appeared.
She didn't hesitate to give Tobias and Celestine a nasty look as she asked. "What are they doing here?"
"I don't care and I don't wanna know. Come on Mel, let's go elsewhere, I can't stand the air being polluted by the stench of sluts and assholes."
Without saying another word, or looking back at Tobias, Amara took Melanie's hand and walked off.
Only after she had walked away did Tobias clench his jaws and allow the impact of all her words show on his face and might I tell you, he did not look pleased in the least bit.
"Toby?" Celestine gently called out, wanting to snap his attention away from staring at where Amara had stood.
But Tobias was having none of it.
He was pissed, irritated, and enraged beyond words.
Who was Amara to treat him like she just had done?
File a divorce against him? And even threaten him?
Just the mere thought of what she had done had him seething and without hesitation, he fished out his phone and dialed the number of his assistant.
The line only rang for a few seconds before his assistant, Dean, answered the line.
"Yes Sir?"
"Have you gathered the necessary documents needed to ensure a smooth purchase of the Woodlands Cosmetics?" He asked.
"...about that Sir," Came Dean's answer, voice filled to the brim with hesitation.
Tobias narrowed his eyes, feeling his temper rising. “What’s the issue, Dean? Can't you even handle this little thing?”
“The acquisition could have been completed smoothly today, but...Ms. Woods had sold the business to someone mysterious and I'm still trying to get in touch with the one.”
“Enough. Send me the necessary information I need regarding the business group that now holds the Woodlands’ rights.” He demanded.
“Y-yes Sir. Immediately.”
Once Tobias was done with the call, he was marching towards the exit, ignoring Celestine who had called out to him.
Just as he stepped out of the club, he caught sight of her wavy brown hair and black gown, back facing him as she stood alone in front of a black GMC Yukon.
Beside her was an old man, dressed in a well-tailored suit and he handed Amara a thin object, which Tobias quickly identified as a premium black card. He was more than sure that Celestine’s words were true.
It was no wonder she rejected the fifty million. Amara had gotten herself a sugar daddy!
How dare she! She's still wearing the title of his wife!
Tobias wanted to confront Amara but the car drove off before he could get her.
Well, if she thought she was going to get away with her dirty deeds, then she had another thing coming.
For the second time this night, Tobias pulled out his phone. Except the person who he called wasn’t his assistant, but rather a private investigator.
“Mr. Larsen,” The person answered.
“I want a detailed file on Amara Miller, everything, her current lifestyle, where she has been to, who she’s been in contact with, and what she’s been up to.
"You have twenty-four hours to get that file to me or else you can say goodbye to the life you’ve built here in London.”
“Y-yes sir!”
“Good.”
With that, Tobias ended the call and stared darkly at where the car had been.
His wife might think she’s gotten away with cheating, but soon enough, she was going to regret her decision.
It had been several days since Amara sent the divorce paper but there was still no response. Pacing in front of the window, Amara called her attorney Philip."Hasn't Larsen signed it yet?""My apologies, Ms. Crawford," Philip sighed at the other end. "I have urged the side of Mr.Larsen but they just ignored us. I am applying for court procedures for you but we have also encountered resistance. The judge suggests that you should communicate with Mr. Larsen first."Hearing this, Amara chuckled out of anger. What was Tobias doing now? He was the first to ask for a divorce, and now she was giving him what he wanted, yet he started to obstruct her in every possible way. What's wrong with him?!!Taking a deep breath, Amara calmed herself. Since he wanted to play, she could play."I understand, Philip. I'll meet Larsen later." Amara picked up her handbag, heading to Tobias' company, Labyrinth. She had barely walked through the revolving doors when she heard a rather familiar voice ring out f
Seated in the back of his car, which was currently on route to Celestine’s apartment, Tobias impatiently tapped his foot while recalling the conversation he had with Amara before. Each time he thought about how eager she was to divorce him and link up with one of her sugar daddies, he couldn’t help but scoff. How bold of her. First she acted like a love sick puppy, gluing to him like he was the last man on earth, and now, she wanted to get away, ready to live whatever blissful life her sugar daddy could fund.Well, Tobias refused. He wasn’t going to let her get away with it, nor was he going to make the process of their divorce easy.He was going to make every single thing, from head to toe, a process that would make her suffer, make her question why she had gone behind his back and gotten a sugar daddy. But even though Tobias had decided this a little while ago, he still found himself baffled by Amara’s audacity.Scoffing, he muttered. “I knew I shouldn’t have married her in the firs
“…All the claims and accusations made towards me in recent post are all lies and acts of defamation. I hope you all, as my valued fans, can ignore the malicious and unprofessional claims and continue to support my acting going forward. Thank you all for understanding.”The next morning, Melanie who was reading this scoffed loudly, disgusted at how innocent and noble Celestine sounded, when in reality, she was blacker than a freaking chalk board.“This is all bullshit.” Turning her attention away from her laptop, she face Amara who was reading through some files sent by her grandfather. A quick tip up before she began leading the company. “How can she so innocently lie to those people? She’s the definition of a black sheep. If anyone here is innocent, it’s you, Amara.”Amara who had been too engrossed in her own work, didn’t pay attention to what Melanie was saying, rather, she nodded her head in agreement.Only when the papers were snatched out of her hand, did her work attention vani
“How long has it been?” The blonde male with brown eyes and similar appearance asked Amara as he led her towards a seating area. Holding a chair open, he added. “Three years?”“Four.” Amara corrected as she sat down, whispering a small ‘Thank you’ towards his gesture. She waited till he had settled down in front of her before asking. “How’s life in Italy been treating you, Lorenzo?”“Wonderful actually. I wouldn’t have left if not for the fact that Grandfather wants me to assist you a little since you’ve come to your senses.”Amara chuckled at his words. Lorenzo, her older brother, always had his ways with words, just like their grandfather. But even at that, she was glad he was here.“I’m really glad you’re here, Lorenzo.” She admitted, earning a smile from her older brother. But the smile quickly faded and he said.“Can I ask a question, Amara?” She nodded. “Why…why did you keep your identity hidden from Tobias for so long?”“Is that…is that really the first thing you want to discus
If Amara’s slap was meant to be an action directed towards snapping Tobias back into the right frame of mind, or perhaps a warning, neither of it was working. Rather, it was having the opposite effect. With his cheek stinging, red and bruised from the force Amara had hit him with, Tobias glared at her. The anger he was feeling towards her was indescribable and evident in his eyes. From the moment he had set foot in Sherativinor, the moment he had caught sight of her happily reuniting with that blonde guy, the moment her had heard her talk so freely and intimately with the stranger, his heart had tightened and he could feel himself boiling. How could did she have the nerves to cheat on him after claiming to love him for years? Was it all an act?Of course it was, he knew this from the very first day Amara confessed her love, so why did he feel so angry? And even more, why was he acting so irrationally and not thinking things through, as usual? These questions and more plagued his mind,
The first ever property Tobias acquired with his own hard earned money, was his current residence. Situated in the most affluent and secluded area of the city, building painted with a bright and eye catching cream color, with ten bedrooms, an indoor and outdoor pool, a garden, three kitchens and even a private office, the house was big enough to impress an normal citizen who had lived a mundane life. But for the Larsen family who had always lived their lives above the curve of life, this residence was considered basic.Times without number, they had told Tobias to move out, but he refused, because for some reason, this 'basic' house of his, felt more like home, than any other luxurious estate he had ever lived in.And now, as he carefully walked around the house, eyes scanning each and every area in hopes of finding the littlest trace of the woman he called his wife, Tobias realized why the house which no longer felt familiar had felt so comfortable. It was because of Amara. She had k
Looking at her name written across his phone screen, Tobias didn’t feel anything, whereas he had expected to feel all sorts of emotion. Anger directed towards the pictures of Celestine being with other men, that was currently roaming the internet, damaging her image, as well as the image of his company.Relief, that despite everything happening, how crazy Amara was acting, Celestine was still here for him.But for some reason, all those emotions were absent, leaving him to stare blank stare his phone screen for a few seconds before he even considered answering it.“Hello?” He said, at last, choosing to answer the phone call.“Toby,” Came Celestine’s sweet voice, sweet enough to easy whatever inner tumor he was having.Or so he thought.“Toby, are you mad at me?”“No,” Tobias shook his head with a sigh. “I’m not mad at you, Celestine.”“Then why haven’t you visited me?” She asked. “You said we would meet up today and have dinner together, but you didn’t come. I thought something bad ha
Perhaps it was the way Lorenzo had said his name, or how entitled he sounded when talking about Amara wanting nothing more than a divorce, or perhaps the obvious fact that he and Amara were together at this moment, meaning that Amara was planning on spending the night with him, whichever one it was, it was enough to tick Tobias off.He had spent a few seconds listening to the man’s words, and after those few seconds, it felt like he had listened to a load worth of bullshit enough to spoil whatever good part of his day that was left.“Is that so?” He asked, his tone low and laced with sarcasm.“Yes,” Lorenzo replied. “So if you can stop being a pain in the ass and actually listen to her and give her the divorce she wants, that’ll be a great help.”“A pain in the ass?” Tobias repeated the words, chuckling bitterly afterwards. So that was how Amara thought of him now. Alright then, since she now thought so lowly of him, she might just as well go to hell. But obviously, he wasn’t going to
