Our day passed quickly today, and it’s already night when Mama and the others left. I suggested they stay here for the night since their place is far, but they needed to go home. Jaxon also offered to drive them, Mama agreed but only until the bus station, then they’ll head straight to our corner.

We stopped by the drive-thru, I suddenly craved for burger and fries, there wasn’t much of a line so we didn’t stay long. I was starting to feel cold because I was only wearing shorts and a shirt, I just put on a cap, while Jaxon was in six-pocket pants and a white shirt, he also had a black cap, I envy him.

“You know Mama, love?” I asked while eating fries, I was just looking at the road, it was already a bit dark since it was already eight in the evening. He didn’t answer so I looked at him, he was holding his chest, my eyes widened because of that. “Hey, are you okay? Does your chest hurt?” I asked worriedly, he still didn’t answer so I started crying. “Love, why?”

“You what?” I think I misheard what he said. He stood up and pressed something on the remote, and the color of the glass window changed again. “Sorry, but I can’t risk the information I’m about to disclose,” I just nodded as he did that, once he made sure everything was okay, he sat beside me. “I’m scared to tell you this, once I disclose this to you, your life will also be in danger, and I don’t want anything dangerous to happen to you.” “I’ll be even more helpless if you don’t tell me, it’s difficult to navigate in the dark, Jaxon. Every day, my mind is filled with more questions, so please tell me, even just what I need to know.” He nodded in response, I heard his deep sigh. “It all started when I was twelve years old, when my Mom died from a shootout while my dad was on duty, he became so busy, he hardly had time for me, he was always quiet, as if he was thinking something deeper than usual. When I turned fourteen, that’s when I discovered the truth about my mom’s death.” He st

I thought it was just a crush, I mean, it’s not impossible to like someone, but it turns out that I found my first love. I followed her like a fool around, while doing my mission, I’m saving her without her knowing. I must be dumb to feel happiness just by seeing her smile, seeing her safe. Five years have passed, and I’m still dumb. I parked my car far from the building I’m going into. I put on my receiver and opened my tracker. It’s been ten past midnight, I’m not going to let this person touch my woman, not in my wildest dream. I made my way to the exit of the building. I made sure there wasn’t anybody when I got in. I went straight to the staff room and stole a pair of uniforms, and wore my black mask. I turned left and bowed a little when I saw a CCTV camera on the right side. “There’s one camera facing exit number three.” “Hold on,” Niana answered. I continued walking, I even bumped into a couple of crew, they just gave me a nod, seems like tonight is a busy hour for them as

“Jaxon, I need to go, I have to go to work!” We’ve been joking around here for a while now, I’m already ready and dressed, I need to go to work because I’ve been absent for two days. “Jaxon please, I’ll be late.” “Love, I can’t let you go until I find out who was following us yesterday.” I want to give in to him, but I really need to go to work, I feel sorry for my co-department who are left with the tasks that I should be doing. “Please?” I looked at him, he’s smiling, his eyes were hopeful. I smiled and kissed him. “Still a no.” I saw his face turn sad, but I just laughed and kissed him again, “Just accompany me, you have to look after me, since it’s your fault,” he stood up, so I hugged him, “You have to look after me, I know I have you.” Looks like he was not expecting that. But he managed to give me a warm smile, “Of course, I think I was born to protect you, for my whole life.” What the heck? “Cheesy!” he laughed and hugged me tighter, “Go, I’m giving you, uh,” I looked at m

“Love, close your eyes, I have something for you,” I chuckled, this man will always be full of surprises, it’s like he always has something new he wants to do in his life, and I’m always the one he’s teasing. “Why again? Last time I closed my eyes, you put hot sauce on my nose.” I replied, it’s true, my nose turned all red, and instead of helping me, he just laughed at me, he even sang Rudolf the Red-Nosed Reindeer, I ain’t talking to him. “You’re one to talk, the last time I closed my eyes, you left me! And you had my wallet and phone! I almost couldn’t get home!” I burst out laughing, you’d think he was about to cry, he was so upset back then, I laughed so hard, I got my revenge on him. “Come on, close your eyes.” I gave him a stern look before finally closing my eyes. I suddenly felt a cold metal thing on my neck. “Okay, open your eyes now.” So I did, I immediately grabbed what he put on me, it’s a gold necklace with a green something as the pendant. “What’s this for?” Is there

I woke up feeling heavy, what happened? It felt like I was in a movie when I woke up, white walls, white room, white everything, there’s a purifier beside my bed, what am I doing here again? I felt the IV attached to me, that’s why I felt a bit itchy and painful. The door opened, a doctor with a nurse beside him came in, the nurse approached me and smiled, “Just checking your vitals, ma’am.” I nodded, still confused. “Doc, I’m okay.” “Good evening Mrs. Vanth.” My heart jumped for a while. “You do not need to worry, it’s very normal, you have to take care of yourself though, I’ll be prescribing vitamins for you.” I was confused by what he was saying. As far as I remember, I’m not sick. Are those vitamins for stress? “Wait doc, I’m not sick, and why are you calling me Mrs. Vanth? I’m not married, well, yet.” Who knows, maybe my ugly one will propose to me. I saw how confused he is, “Oh, I’m sorry, your friend brought you here early this afternoon, and based on your record, you are,”

I felt the vibration of my phone so I opened my bag to look for it. It was Jc calling. I realized I hadn’t called him since I woke up, even though I’ve eaten and everything, I didn’t even inform Lukret. “Hel-” he immediately interrupted me. “Hey! Are you okay? Why aren’t you at the hospital? Did your husband take you? Hihi!” he teased, so I frowned. He’s crazy, as always. “You’re crazy! What did you say about me having a husband? I don’t even have a ring yet, and I’m already a wife? Are you jumping ahead?” I heard him chuckle. If he were here right now, I would have punched him. How annoying. “You’re pretending! I bet you’re thrilled, right?” he teased me more. I wanted to strangle him. “I’ll slap you, Jc. And what will you bet? You don’t even have a… you know.” I laughed as he shouted on the other line. “You’re so rude! Shut up! Get lost! Get lost!” he shouted, and I ended the call. I was happy to annoy him again. It’s funny to irritate him; I can imagine his face. He’s been m

I woke up because my phone kept ringing on the side table. I looked at Jaxon’s spot, but he wasn’t there. Where is that man going at five in the morning? Hays. I rolled over and groped for my phone. It was Jc again, ugh! This human being! He’s so annoying! “What?” I answered grumpily. I really can’t control my mood these past few days, I get triggered so easily. “You’re such a bitch, you know that? We’re coming to your house! I brought fruits for my godchild!” I suddenly laughed at that. “Where are you now? Did you get rained on? Which house are we going to?” This guy is really crazy. “You’re crazy. We’re at Jaxon’s condo. Tell me when you’re here, I’ll come out.” I couldn’t tell him why he couldn’t come in right away. Two weeks after I told Jaxon about my pregnancy, I thought he wouldn’t accept it and would just disappear like a bubble, but his response was way too opposite from what I was expecting. He called his mom, his grandparents, even his friends. He paced around the room

“Ay wow, no wonder she’s not answering calls, because the theme of the night is Sleeping Beauty,” I woke up to the irritating voice of my gay friend. “Hey, don’t be loud, she’s an angel when she’s asleep,” I heard Jaxon’s voice, “But a dragon when she wakes up, she’ll breathe fire on you.” And he laughed, he’s really crazy. “Ugh, really? Okay, I’ll stay in the kitchen, I might get scolded, I just had a facial, it cost five thousand,” my gay friend replied, then I heard some faint steps moving away from my spot. I slowly opened my eyes, adjusting to the sunlight. What time is it? I looked at the alarm clock on the side table, 10:30. I haven’t slept much yet, I haven’t even brushed my teeth. I immediately felt like my stomach was churning, I quickly got up and went to the bathroom. I felt like nothing else would come out, but I was still vomiting. In just a second, there was a warm hand on my back. “I’m sorry, love. You have to get through this,” Jaxon kept saying that while I was
