Isabel’s POV

The room felt like it had been stripped of oxygen. My breath hitched, and my fingers tightened around the edges of the table.

"Alistair is back?" I repeated, my voice barely above a whisper.

Emerson nodded grimly. "It was only a rumor at first, but now it’s confirmed. He’s been moving in the shadows. We don’t know exactly what he’s planning yet."

I looked at Margot, who had gone pale. Her fingers trembled as she gripped the back of a chair. The color drained from her face, but her expression hardened in determination.

"It has to be him," she said, her voice breaking with restrained fury. "He took my brother. I knew something felt off... Elias wouldn't just disappear without leaving a trace."

My mind was reeling. Elias had been missing for almost two weeks. His silence had been deafening. Now, knowing that Alistair was involved, any hope we had left was beginning to wither.

Margot’s breathing quickened. "I have to find him. Now. Every second I wait—"

"Margot, stop!" I grabb

Isabel’s POVThe hospital corridors stretched endlessly before us, sterile white walls closing in like the cold grip of fate. The sharp scent of antiseptic stung my nostrils, and my heart pounded so violently in my chest that I feared it might burst. Emerson’s grip on my wrist was tight as we rushed forward, weaving through doctors, nurses, and worried families. But there was only one person I wanted to see—Liam. My baby. My son.As we rounded the corner to the surgical ward, my breath caught in my throat. Caleb sat hunched on a bench outside the operating room, his face buried in his hands. His usually confident posture was shattered, replaced by a shell of a man drowning in regret. The fluorescent lighting above cast a sickly glow over his slumped figure. Before I could speak, Emerson charged forward and yanked Caleb up by the collar."How the hell did this happen?" Emerson's voice was raw with fury, shaking with barely contained rage. "You were supposed to keep him safe!"Caleb di

It hadn’t been a hallucination from the drugs—I had seen through Lila’s disguise, seen the truth lurking beneath. I need you to hear me.”He turned to me fully, his sharp gaze locking onto mine. “I’m listening, Isa. I know—the drugs have worn off. What is it?” His voice was steady, but I could sense the tension beneath it. The way he braced himself for whatever I was about to say.I swallowed hard, forcing myself to slow down, to make the words come out in a way that made sense. “It’s Lilith,” I said, the name tasting like poison on my tongue. “Lila was never just Lila. She was Lilith all along.”His brows furrowed, confusion flic

Isabel’s POVThe doctor’s voice rang in my ears like a distant echo. "Does anyone here have a matching blood type? The boy needs a transfusion immediately."My breath hitched, and in an instant, I was dragged back in time—to that moment in the hospital when I had first learned the truth. When my blood had saved Liam’s life, and in return, had revealed that he was my son. I had gone so long believing my son was dead. But then, in the stark coldness of a sterile hospital room, fate had thrown me the truth. That moment had changed everything. And now, standing here again, staring down a doctor who needed my blood to save Liam, I felt history repeating itself. But this time, it was so much worse. Isabel’s POVElena sat on the hospital bed, her tiny legs swinging anxiously. Despite the exhaustion evident in her posture, she held her head high, determined to be strong. My heart swelled with pride and grief at the same time. She was so young, yet she had just given her own blood to save her brother’s life. The doctor assured us that while she couldn’t donate much due to her age, it had been enough to keep Liam stable until the blood bags arrived. Still, the knowledge that she had been put through such an ordeal made my stomach twist. She was only a child… Our child.Liam was finally out of immediate danger, but the doctor insisted he remain in the ICU for observation. I hated the sight of him lying there, so still, his small body covered in wires and monitors. It was unnatural. He should have been running around, laughing, causing mischief. Instead, he was fighting to recover from something no child should have to endure.Elena tugged at my sleeve. “Mommy… is Liam going to be o

Isabel’s POVThe small, dimly lit room felt heavier than the weight of the secrets we were about to unravel. Eric, Emerson, and I sat in silence, the air between us thick with unspoken tension. I could hear the faint sounds of the hospital outside—the distant beeping of machines, the soft murmur of nurses passing by—but inside this room, time had stalled.Eric was the first to break the silence. "I suppose it's time you know everything," he said, his voice laced with something unreadable—anger, perhaps, or sorrow. "I've been looking into your past for a long time, Isabel. I never told you because I wanted to protect you. But after everything that has happened, I can’t stay quiet any longer."I swallowed hard. My past was something I had learned to live with, but never something I had entirely faced. There were too many wounds, too many buried nightmares I wasn’t sure I could handle revisiting.Eric met my eyes, his expression softening just slightly before he turned his gaze to Emers

Lilith’s POV"What? You want to change back to your old face?"The woman in front of me didn't even look up as she spoke, her voice laced with contempt and utter boredom. She was in her fifties, yet not a single wrinkle marred her flawless skin. Her body, toned and striking, was a testament to her wealth and vanity. She sat elegantly on the edge of a metal counter, her fingers idly playing with a small vial of serum. The dim, sterile light of the underground lab reflected off the glass, casting eerie patterns across the walls.I clenched my fists. Of course, she wouldn’t take me seriously—not at first. But I was done playing games."I’ve completed the task my father gave me," I said, my voice steady, though my stomach twisted with unease. "I no longer want to bear this disgusting face."That got her attention. Scarlet finally turned to face me, a slow, amused smirk curling her lips. She tilted her head slightly, as if studying me for the first time."Completed?" she repeated mockingl

Sebastian/Elias's POVThe basement was the same as ever—cold, damp, and stinking of rust and decay. Dust swirled in the dim light from the single flickering bulb, casting erratic shadows on the cracked stone walls. But this time, I wasn’t the one in chains.“Kill him.” Alistair’s voice was sharp and commanding, his outstretched hand pointing at a young man kneeling a few feet away. He couldn’t have been much older than nineteen, his face drawn and gaunt from fear. His chains rattled as he tried to inch backward, but there was nowhere to run. Nowhere to hide.I didn’t hesitate.I lunged forward, my foot connecting with his chest before he could react. He crumpled to the ground with a strangled gasp. Without missing a beat, I dropped to one knee, my hands locking around his throat. His pulse fluttered beneath my fingers, his breath hitching as I tightened my grip.He struggled—weakly at first, then more desperately, his fingers clawing at my wrists. But I was stronger. Faster. Yet there was something else lurking beneath it—regret. Guilt.Alistair, as always, was unimpressed. He gave a dismissive wave, his mouth curling into an infuriating smirk. “Spare me the theatrics, Scarlet. He dragged himself into this when he started meddling with my operation. You want to play the remorseful aunt now? Too late.” His gaze turned to me, and his voice took on a condescending edge. “You should be thanking her, Elias. She’s the one who made those delightful little concoctions running through your veins.”Scarlet stiffened, but she didn’t deny it. “I never gave you permission to use them on my family members.“And since when do I ask for permission?” Alistair sighed, as if the conversation bored him. “Since you’re so concerned, why don’t you give him

My heart skipped a beat."Liam, Elena, what are you doing here?" I asked, my voice thick with emotion. I hadn’t expected them today, and the sight of their small faces brought a surge of overwhelming love and guilt.Eric stood behind them, his expression apologetic, his eyes soft with understanding. “They begged me, Isabel. They wouldn’t stop asking to see him... I couldn’t say no anymore.”Liam’s face was drawn, his usual bright energy dimmed with concern. Isabel’s POVA month had passed. One whole month, and still, no sign of life from Emerson. The machines beside his bed beeped steadily. A monotonous rhythm that I had come to know too well. A rhythm that seemed to mock the stillness of his body. I sat by his side every day, watching him, praying for some miracle—some sign that he was still there, still fighting. But each time I whispered his name, there was nothing. Nothing but the soft hum of hospital machinery.“Emerson,” I whispered, my voice trembling despite my attempts to sound steady. “Don’t you want to be with me? If you wake up, I promise we can live happily as a family of four.”I meant it, every word of it. The thought of a future with him, of raising our children together, was the only thing that kept me going. I needed him to hear me. I needed him to wake up.But Emerson remained unresponsive. He looked like a prince charming, trapped in an eternal dream—strangely peaceful. I combed his dark hair back neatly after gently

My heartbeat pounded in my ears as I clung to Emerson, his labored breaths hot against my skin.I didn’t dare move. The slick warmth of his blood drenching me was unnerving. His chest rose and fell in erratic, shallow breaths. But then, amid the cacophony of battle, a stunned silence emerged. Orders were shouted. Weapons clicked into position. Something had changed. I forced myself to glance up from Emerson’s chest, my pulse hammering.Alistair stood frozen, his face contorted in pain. Blood dripped from his hand—the very hand that had been pointing a gun at me just seconds before. His grip slackened, and the weapon tumbled to the ground.A sniper.Alistair’s men immediately scattered, taking defensive positions, frantically searching the area. But before they could react, several of them suddenly dropped to the ground. They were convulsing violently, frothing at the mouth. One by one, the

Isabel’s POVMy wrists ached from the tight ropes binding my hands behind my back as I was shoved forward. The rough ground beneath my boots felt unsteady, my knees weak with exhaustion. The air smelled of blood, gunpowder, and sweat. The night was still alive with distant gunfire, but here, in the heart of the enemy’s grasp, there was only the sound of my ragged breathing and Alistair’s mocking laughter.“Stop resisting, Emerson,” he drawled, his voice filled with smug amusement. “You’re in over your head. Oh—look who finally decided to join us.”Emerson was holding back several opponents, bruised and bloodied from the fight. His head snapped up at Alistair’s words. He turned, and when his eyes landed on me, something in his face shifted. Shock, then rage, then a devastating kind of fear. He lunged forward, but a guard was faster. A rifle butt slammed into Emerson’s ribs. The sickening crack echoed in the night, and he crumpled to the ground, gasping for air."Emerson!" I screamed,

  • His Betrayal, His Regret   Chapter 441 - Hunted in the Night

Isabel’s POVAt first, Emerson and I managed to escape the building, slipping into the shadows like ghosts. The night was thick around us, swallowing our hurried footsteps as we navigated through the wreckage of Alistair’s camp. The distant gunfire and shouts of battle echoed behind us. But just as we reached the edge of the compound, the world seemed to shift. From the darkness, figures emerged—silent and predatory, their weapons gleaming under the pale moonlight. They moved like shadows given form, their presence an unspoken promise of violence. My breath caught in my throat as a dozen, no, more than two dozen enemies surrounded us, blocking every escape route. The sheer hatred in their eyes sent an involuntary shiver down my spine. These weren’t just guards; they were fanatics, men who thrived in the chaos of bloodshed and terror.Emerson moved instinctively, stepping in front of me, gun raised. “Stay close,” he murmured, barely audible over the wind. I nodded, steadying my grip

  • His Betrayal, His Regret   Chapter 440 - Bloodlines of Betrayal

Sebastian/Elias’ POVScarlet’s scream echoed through the dimly lit room, raw with disbelief and fury. “You’re lying!” she spat, her eyes blazing with denial. The restraints binding her wrists rattled as she struggled, but I didn’t move to stop her. There was no point—her fight wasn’t with me. It was with the truth.I let out a slow breath, pulling a small, timeworn pocket watch from my coat. The silver casing had dulled over the years, but the engraved initials remained clear. I clicked it open and held it out to her, revealing a faded family photograph inside.“My father gave this to me before he died,” I said evenly, my voice softer than before. “He cared about you, Scarlet. No matter what you believe, you were never forgotten.”Her breath hitched. For a moment, the fire in her eyes flickered, replaced by something rawer—uncertainty. “How could it be?” she murmured, barely more than a whisper. All the pieces had finally clicked into place as Scarlet unraveled her story. The tangled

  • His Betrayal, His Regret   Chapter 439 - From Pain to Power

Scarlet’s POVTelling my story, I was flung back into the past. Lost in the grip of memories that had never truly left me. The present moment faded, and I found myself reliving those painful years. As vivid and raw as the day they had happened.I had been young, hopeful, foolish. Despite the years of neglect, I had still wanted my parents' love. But when I overheard them denying my very existence, something inside me snapped.Disheartened, I had returned to the countryside, burying myself in my studies. Medicine became my refuge, my salvation. I dedicated myself to understanding the human body—not just how to heal it, but how to manipulate it, how to break it. My hands, once weak and trembling from years of frustration, became steady, precise instruments of control. The first time I killed a lab mouse, something dark and exhilarating bloomed inside me. Power. The ability to decide whether something lived or died. The ability to take control of what had always been out of my grasp.

  • His Betrayal, His Regret   Chapter 438 - Lingering Shadow

Elias’ POVI watched from the shadows as Isabel and Emerson disappeared into the night, their figures swallowed by the chaos of battle outside. I clenched my fists and tried to push down the sharp, aching weight that settled in my gut.Maybe it had been foolish to think I ever stood a chance with Isabel. Emerson had always been the one she turned to in the end. The one she trusted in the heat of battle. The one she looked at with that fierce determination in her eyes. And me? I was just a shadow lingering on the edges of her world, never quite stepping into the light.A slow clap echoed through the dimly lit room."Are you just going to let them go?" Scarlet’s voice slithered through the shadows like a snake.I turned away from the exit, my expression unreadable as I faced the woman bound to the chair before me. Her wrists were tied behind her back, her face partially obscured by strands of disheveled hair. Even restrained, she exuded a sickening confidence, her smirk unwavering.I m

My boots pounded against the forest floor as I sprinted after her, weaving through the pine trees in pursuit. I knew why she was doing this. I understood the desperate, reckless pull of wanting to save someone you love. But charging straight into enemy territory? Alone? It was suicide.“No!” I hissed under my breath, pushing my legs harder.Margot moved swiftly, her figure barely a shadow in the dim light. She reached the edge of the enemy’s perimeter and, without hesitation, hoisted herself up onto a low window ledge. She pulled her body through with practiced agility. She was inside before I could even call her name.Damn it.I skidded to a halt near the building, pressing myself against the rough exterior. The compound was crawling with patrols.
