Isabel’s POV

The audacity of his request left me speechless. I stared at him, waiting for him to laugh and admit it was a joke. He didn’t.

“Are you serious?” I finally asked, my voice barely above a whisper.

He nodded. “Liam misses you. He deserves to have both of his parents in his life, under one roof. This isn’t about us, Isabel. It’s about him.”

I clenched my jaw, my mind racing. His words sounded noble, but I knew better. Emerson never did anything without an ulterior motive.

“You think I’m going to fall for that?” I asked, my voice laced with disbelief. “You’re using Liam as an excuse to manipulate me.”

He didn’t deny it. Instead, he leaned forward, his gaze steady. “I’m offering you a chance to give Liam what he needs. A stable family. Isn’t that what you want?”

I wanted to scream. I wanted to throw his roses across the room and storm out. But I couldn’t. Not with Elias’s future hanging in the balance.

I stared at him, half in disbelief, half in frustration. He was leaning casua

Isabel’s POV"Hi, Mommy!" Elena's voice rang out like a bright bell as I stepped into the house. Her small arms wrapped tightly around me in a hug, and I found myself clinging to her warmth more than I intended. She started chatting away about her day, her words a comforting melody that briefly masked my inner turmoil. But Elena, as perceptive as always, soon paused and tilted her head. Her big eyes scanned me with concern. "Mommy, are you okay? Did something happen?"I forced a smile, brushing her blonde curls from her face. "I’m okay, sweetheart. Mommy's just tired. It’s been a long day at work."Her worried gaze didn’t waver. I knelt down, taking her tiny hands in mine. “Actually, I wanted to ask you something. How would you feel about staying with Liam… for a little while? Maybe a month?”Elena’s face lit up. “With Liam? Really? Yes! That would be so fun! Will Mister Em—Emson be there too?" Elena asked, her little head tilting to the side as she stumbled over Emerson’s name.Despi

Isabel’s POV“Miss Isabel, Mr. Williams is here to see you.”The maid’s voice snapped me out of my spiraling thoughts. I rubbed my temples, pushing away the lingering unease from my restless night. Right. Today was the day. Moving day.I forced myself into action, heading to my dressing room to change into something presentable. As I descended the stairs, Emerson stood waiting in the foyer, his posture relaxed but his eyes sharp. He greeted me with a broad smile that only added to my irritation. He looked happier than I’d seen him in ages. As if he’d won the lottery. In stark contrast, the dark circles under my eyes must’ve been glaringly obvious. His smile faltered as his gaze lingered on my face. “You didn’t sleep well, did you?” he asked, his tone soft but perceptive.“That’s none of your concern,” I snapped, brushing past him.Unfazed, he followed me. “Is everything packed?”“No,” I replied curtly. “You’re early.”He tilted his head, his expression almost smug. “I’ve already take

Isabel’s POVIt had been years since I’d seen the villa where I once used to live. Even when Emerson forced me back into his life before my "death," it had been at another of his properties. This place—this grand estate with its sprawling gardens and elegant façade—was a world I had barely touched since I was pregnant with Liam and the daughter I never got to meet. Now, as the car turned into the long driveway, my chest tightened. My heart pounded as my eyes took in the pristine hedges, the white marble columns, the grand entrance. Memories flooded back, a tangled web of joy and sorrow. The last time I had truly lived here, I was full of life—literally and figuratively. Pregnant with hope, with love, with dreams of the perfect family. But those dreams had shattered, leaving jagged edges I was still careful not to touch.I had missed this place, though I hated admitting it. Despite the bad memories, there had been so many beautiful ones too.The car had barely rolled to a stop before

Isabel’s POVBefore I could respond, a knock at the door interrupted the charged silence. Grateful for the distraction from the unsettling tension with the maid, I cleared my throat. “Come in,” I called, my voice steadier than I felt.“Oh,” he began, his tone hesitant. “I see you’ve met the new maid.”“How perceptive of you,” I replied, arching an eyebrow. My words dripped with sarcasm, cutting through the silence like a blade. The tension in the room was almost palpable, coiling between us like a living thing.Lila stood quietly by the corner. Her head was bowed just enough to feign modesty, though the faintest hint of a smirk danced at the edge of her lips. Emerson cleared his throat, shifting uncomfortably under my scrutiny, but his usual confidence seemed to falter.“Is… something wrong?” he asked. His sharp eyes darted between me and Lila, who stood rigidly by my suitcase.Lila immediately dipped into a respectful bow, her voice calm but deferential. “Nothing, sir. Miss Isabel w

Isabel’s POVEmerson’s lips tightened and his jaw clenched at the edge of my sarcasm. I could see him weighing his response, clearly aware that the tension in the room had grown thick enough to cut. After a long moment, he exhaled deeply, running a hand through his perfectly styled hair—a telltale sign of his discomfort.“Isabel,” he began, his tone low and measured, as if handling a fragile object. “I understand how this might look. And I’ll admit, when I first saw her… I was swayed. Lila’s resemblance to you—it caught me off guard. I’d be lying if I said otherwise. But that’s all it is—a resemblance.” He glanced at me, gauging my reaction. “I’ve never felt anything for her. Nothing like what I feel for you. You have to believe me when I say that.”My jaw tightened as his words settled into the room. “Believe you?” I said coolly. “The tabloids told a different story, Emerson. You’ve been photographed with her. You’ve been seen out together.”His shoulders stiffened, and he shook his

  • His Betrayal, His Regret   Chapter 373 - Strange Smile

Isabel’s POVLila turned slowly, almost too slowly, and her green eyes locked onto mine. That was one of the few differences between her face and mine—instead of blue eyes, hers were a striking shade of green. There was something unnervingly familiar about them. A resemblance I couldn’t place, but one that sent an icy chill skittering down my spine. Her expression was strange, a careful mask of innocence. Yet it failed to hide the underlying tension in her features. “I was just delivering desserts for the little ones… to give them a sweet welcome,” she said, holding up the empty silver tray in her hands as though it were proof of her harmlessness. My eyes darted past her to the children, seated at a small table in the corner of the room. Liam and Elena were happily munching on cupcakes, their laughter filling the space with a warmth I couldn’t let myself fully relax into. The sight of their joy should have reassured me. But it didn’t.Lila’s lips curved into that unnatural smile of

Isabel’s POVThe sight before me froze the air in my lungs. Liam was sitting on the floor, clutching his mouth, tears streaming down his face. A small streak of blood glistened at the corner of his lips, and a smashed cupcake lay in pieces around him.“No...” I gasped, the worst scenarios racing through my mind. Elena stood frozen by his side. Her wide, frightened eyes darted between Liam and me.“What happened?” I rushed to Liam, pulling him into my arms as he sobbed against my shoulder. “Lila,” I growled, my voice laced with barely controlled fury. “What have you done to my son?”Lila, standing in the doorway, looked the picture of confusion. Her green eyes widened, her hands clasping the empty dessert tray in front of her like a shield. “I—I didn’t do anything,” she stammered, her tone drenched in innocence.Emerson stepped past her and crouched beside us, his brow furrowed in concern. “Liam, let me see.” He gently reached out. But Liam clung to me, his sobs growing louder.I cradle

Isabel’s POVAs soon as Emerson proposed the plan to the kids, there was no way I could back out.Liam’s face lit up like the sun breaking through storm clouds. “Yeah!!! I wanna go camping!”Before I could voice my doubts, Elena joined in, her small hands clasped together in a pleading gesture. “Please, Mommy! Camping will be so fun. We can roast marshmallows, and Liam can tell me scary stories!”It was impossible to say no to their sparkling eyes and contagious excitement. I laughed, relenting. “Alright, alright. Camping it is.”Though I agreed, I couldn’t help but raise an eyebrow at the thought of Emerson roughing it in the wilderness. Camping didn’t exactly scream ‘Emerson Williams,’ the man whose wardrobe probably had more three-piece suits than most men owned socks. We left early the next morning. The car was loaded with supplies, snacks, and the kids’ boundless energy. I had to admit, seeing Emerson in a lumberjack-style outfit—a plaid shirt, slim-fit jeans, and hiking boots—wa

Isabel’s POVThe doctor’s voice rang in my ears like a distant echo. "Does anyone here have a matching blood type? The boy needs a transfusion immediately."My breath hitched, and in an instant, I was dragged back in time—to that moment in the hospital when I had first learned the truth. When my blood had saved Liam’s life, and in return, had revealed that he was my son. I had gone so long believing my son was dead. But then, in the stark coldness of a sterile hospital room, fate had thrown me the truth. That moment had changed everything. And now, standing here again, staring down a doctor who needed my blood to save Liam, I felt history repeating itself. But this time, it was so much worse. Liam’s life hung in the balance.“I’m a match,” I said quickly, stepping forward. There was no hesitation. No doubt. I would give him every drop of my blood if it meant he would open his eyes again. The doctor nodded briskly and took me to be tested. My mind was racing the entire time. My pulse

Isabel’s POVA chill ran down my spine. My body went rigid as the pieces of the puzzle fell into place. My mind was racing faster than I could voice. The memory of the jewelry store confrontation resurfaced with haunting clarity. It hadn’t been a hallucination from the drugs—I had seen through Lila’s disguise, seen the truth lurking beneath. I had seen her.Lilith.“Emerson,” I said, my voice trembling but resolute, “listen to me. I’m completely clear-headed right now. I need you to hear me.”He turned to me fully, his sharp gaze locking onto mine. “I’m listening, Isa. I know—the drugs have worn off. What is it?” His voice was steady, but I could sense the tension beneath it. The way he braced himself for whatever I was about to say.I swallowed hard, forcing myself to slow down, to make the words come out in a way that made sense. “It’s Lilith,” I said, the name tasting like poison on my tongue. “Lila was never just Lila. She was Lilith all along.”His brows furrowed, confusion flic

  • His Betrayal, His Regret   Chapter 423 - It’s Her

Isabel’s POVThe hospital corridors stretched endlessly before us, sterile white walls closing in like the cold grip of fate. The sharp scent of antiseptic stung my nostrils, and my heart pounded so violently in my chest that I feared it might burst. Emerson’s grip on my wrist was tight as we rushed forward, weaving through doctors, nurses, and worried families. But there was only one person I wanted to see—Liam. My baby. My son.As we rounded the corner to the surgical ward, my breath caught in my throat. Caleb sat hunched on a bench outside the operating room, his face buried in his hands. His usually confident posture was shattered, replaced by a shell of a man drowning in regret. The fluorescent lighting above cast a sickly glow over his slumped figure. Before I could speak, Emerson charged forward and yanked Caleb up by the collar."How the hell did this happen?" Emerson's voice was raw with fury, shaking with barely contained rage. "You were supposed to keep him safe!"Caleb di

Isabel’s POVThe room felt like it had been stripped of oxygen. My breath hitched, and my fingers tightened around the edges of the table."Alistair is back?" I repeated, my voice barely above a whisper.Emerson nodded grimly. "It was only a rumor at first, but now it’s confirmed. He’s been moving in the shadows. We don’t know exactly what he’s planning yet."I looked at Margot, who had gone pale. Her fingers trembled as she gripped the back of a chair. The color drained from her face, but her expression hardened in determination."It has to be him," she said, her voice breaking with restrained fury. "He took my brother. I knew something felt off... Elias wouldn't just disappear without leaving a trace."My mind was reeling. Elias had been missing for almost two weeks. His silence had been deafening. Now, knowing that Alistair was involved, any hope we had left was beginning to wither.Margot’s breathing quickened. "I have to find him. Now. Every second I wait—""Margot, stop!" I grabb

Isabel’s POVMy heart was pounding in my chest as I watched Emerson dial Caleb’s number. The tension in the room was thick, pressing against my ribs, making it hard to breathe. Please, please, please be okay. The silent plea played in my head like a mantra.Margot sat stiffly beside me, her gaze flickering between the phone and the door, as if expecting bad news to come crashing through at any moment.Would Caleb pick up? Were he and Liam safe?A pit of dread pooled in my stomach. What if something had happened? I would never forgive myself. I had already failed Elias by not realizing he was in danger. The thought of failing my own child, of allowing my son to be vulnerable while I was too weak to protect him, was unbearable. The phone rang once. Twice. Three times. Then—“What’s up, cousin?” Caleb’s voice came through the speaker. His typical casual tone instantly relieved some of the tension in my chest.“Caleb!” Emerson’s voice boomed through the room. “Where the hell are you?”“W

  • His Betrayal, His Regret   Chapter 420 - Second Chances

Isabel’s POVI turned to Margot, still catching my breath from the sheer adrenaline moments ago. The weight of what had just happened pressed down on me. Elena could have fallen. She could have—I shook the thought away, instead focusing on Margot.“What are you doing here?” I asked, my voice softer than I expected.Margot sighed, rubbing her temples. “It’s a long story,” she admitted, then gave a small, almost shy smile. “One that might actually make you happy.”I raised a brow, intrigued despite the lingering fear curling in my stomach.Margot exhaled deeply, her fingers tracing over Elena’s curls absentmindedly. “I found out Caleb was the one who provided me with the best medical resources after… everything that happened.” She gestured vaguely, referring to the months of struggle, of pain, of uncertainty. “I didn’t even know. He never told me.”My heart clenched at the sincerity in her voice. Caleb had done so much for her in silence, expecting nothing in return. That was just who

  • His Betrayal, His Regret   Chapter 419 - Unlikely Savior

Isabel’s POVTime seemed to slow as I sprinted toward the house, my heart hammering against my ribs. The image of Elena dangling from the second-floor window was seared into my mind, an unbearable nightmare unfolding in real time. My arms were outstretched, ready to catch her if she fell. But a sudden movement at the window made me freeze.Margot.She was there, gripping Elena tightly. Her entire body strained as she pulled the little girl with all her might. My breath hitched. Margot? How? What was she doing here? And how had Elena even ended up in such a dangerous position? The questions swirled in my mind, but there was no time for answers. All that mattered was that Margot had a firm hold on my darling niece.A final tug, and then—a heavy thud. They had landed safely on the floor. Relief flooded me. But I didn't allow myself to hesitate any longer. I turned on my heel and bolted up the stairs, my legs burning as I took two steps at a time. Emerson was already ahead of me, his

  • His Betrayal, His Regret   Chapter 418 - Hanging On

Isabel’s POVThe fog had finally lifted. After days of treatment under the guidance of medical experts, the poison’s grip on my mind had loosened. My thoughts were clearer. My body, once sluggish and foreign, was finally my own again. Emerson had been a pillar through it all. His quiet elation was evident in the way his gaze lingered on me. In the way his fingers often ‘accidentally’ brushed against mine. As if to reassure himself that I was still here—still me.I still couldn’t bring myself to truly look in the mirror—not after the last time, when the reflection staring back at me had been a hollow, broken version of myself. But as I moved past, my eyes flickered to the glass, catching a glimpse. For the first time in what felt like forever, I didn’t just see the damage—the dark circles, the lingering weariness in my expression. No, beneath all that, there was something else. A spark. A glimmer of the woman I used to be. The one who had returned to Rivermont not as a victim, but a

  • His Betrayal, His Regret   Chapter 417 - The Stench of Sin

Sebastian/Elias’s POVThe air in the dimly lit chamber grew thick with tension as Alistair Montrose stepped even closer. His breath reeked of cigars and an attempt at mint to mask the stench, but it only made it worse. A nauseating mix of indulgence and decay. The closer he got, the stronger the sickening combination became, making my empty stomach churn.I yanked against the chains binding my wrists, the metal digging deeper into my raw skin. My muscles screamed in protest. But I refused to stay still, to give him the satisfaction of seeing me accept my fate. I met his gaze with unflinching defiance."Calm down, young man," Alistair cooed, mockingly, as if soothing a wayward child. His voice dripped with condescension, his lips curling into a cruel smirk. "What’s wrong? Are you not satisfied with my… hospitality?"My blood boiled. The sound of his voice alone ignited a fresh wave of fury inside me. I gathered the metallic tang of blood in my mouth and spat. A dark satisfaction cu
