Isabel’s POV

"Isabel!" The deafening roar of Emerson’s voice cut through the chaos. His panic-laced tone pulled me from the edge of unconsciousness. Caleb’s shout followed, equally frantic. "Isa, hold on!"

The world came back into focus in a blur of light, sound, and pain. I slumped to the ground, gasping for air, my chest heaving with each desperate breath.

My hands trembled uncontrollably. One was slick with warmth. When I lifted my palm, I saw it—blood.

A small, shining object rested in my shaking hand. Its metallic surface glinted in the chandelier's light. My bracelet, now transformed into a dagger.

It felt cold and foreign in my palm, its weight almost unbearable. I stared at it, my breath caught between relief and horror.

Above me, Lilith’s agonized scream still echoed through the hall. She clutched her arm, blood seeping through her fingers and dripping onto the pristine marble floor.

Her face was twisted in fury and pain. Her once-flawless composure was utterly shattered.

Isabel’s POVThe silence in the car was suffocating. I stared out the window, the passing streetlights blurring into streaks of light. My hands trembled in my lap, and I clutched the fabric of my dress. The metallic texture of my bracelet-turned-dagger was still imprinted in my palm. I couldn't stop replaying Lilith’s venomous words in my mind, her twisted smile, and the weight of her confession. He’s already in hell. Go find him."Isa, are you okay? Please, say something. Don’t scare me," Emerson’s voice broke through the heavy silence. But I couldn’t bring myself to answer. My throat felt like it was closing, and my chest ached with a pain that wasn’t physical.Caleb glanced at us from the driver’s seat, his voice a mix of anger and concern. "She’s in shock, Emerson. That crazy woman deserves to rot in hell!"The word hell sent a jolt through my body. My breathing grew erratic, and the trembling turned to full-blown shaking. Emerson noticed immediately, his hands reaching for mine.

Every step he took, every breath I drew, felt like a cruel echo of the truth I couldn’t escape. He laid me gently on the bed. His hands were trembling as he brushed stray strands of hair from my face. “Isa,” he began softly, his voice cautious, as if afraid one wrong word would push me over the edge. “Did Lilith… say something to you? Please, tell me.”His tenderness, once a balm for my pain, now ignited my fury. “Why didn’t you find out earlier?” I snapped, my voice sharp and trembling.“What?” His brows furrowed in confusion, his gaze searching mine. The rage surged, uncontainable. I sat up and grabbed the front of his shirt, yanking him closer. “Why didn’t you find out earlier?” I hissed. The words spilled out, fast and venomous. “I can accept your disloyalty in our marriage, Emerson. I can even accept

Emerson’s POVIsabel’s limp body lay against the pristine white sheets. Her face was pale and peaceful for the first time since the banquet. Her trembling breaths had slowed, her chest rising and falling softly. I leaned over, brushing a stray lock of hair away from her damp forehead. Even in her unconscious state, there was an ethereal beauty about her. A strength in her fragile frame that left me breathless. How had I let this happen? How had I allowed her life to shatter so completely while I stood by, blind to the destruction? My chest ached with guilt, the weight of my sins crushing me. I had ruined her. The one woman who had always been my anchor, even when I didn't realize it.The sound of the door creaking open broke my thoughts. The family doctor, Eric, entered with a somber expression. His gaze flickered to the blood dripping from my arm, staining the carpet beneath me.“Mr. Williams,” Eric said, his voice calm but firm, “your wound needs immediate attention. It's deep, and

Emerson’s POVHalf a year before the divorce, my life was already a mess. Isabel and I fought constantly—arguments that burned through the walls of our fragile marriage like wildfire. That night had been no different.“Why can’t you ever just talk to me, Emerson?” Isabel’s voice had trembled with frustration, her eyes bright with unshed tears. “All I ask is honesty, but you shut me out every time!”I had stared at her, my emotions coiled tight like a spring. I wanted to explain, to tell her everything, but how could I? How could I share the guilt that clawed at my soul when I barely understood it myself?Instead, I did what I always did—I lashed out. “Maybe if you stopped clinging to me every second, I’d actually have some space to think!”Her silence was worse than her anger. Her lips pressed together, and she turned away, retreating upstairs. That was when I grabbed my keys and left.I didn’t have a destination in mind, just the overwhelming need to escape. Isabel’s POVWhen I woke, the first thing I noticed was the faint golden light filtering through the curtains. The second was the warmth of Emerson’s hand wrapped tightly around mine. He was slumped over the edge of the bed. His head was resting precariously on the mattress, his face drawn with exhaustion. He was asleep. The IV stand beside me stood empty, the needle removed from my hand. I felt an odd sense of calm, as though the storm of rage and grief had temporarily settled. My mind was clearer now, and with it came a stark realization. What I had done last night, the chaos I had unleashed, wasn’t going to solve anything.Death was too easy, too merciful for Lilith. She deserved to experience the same agony she’d inflicted on me. I couldn’t let her escape the torment she had brought into my life so easily.I carefully tried to withdraw my hand from Emerson’s grasp, not wanting to wake him. But the slight movement stirred him, and his eyes shot open, bloodshot and panicked.“Isa,”

For a fleeting moment, I thought he might deny it, but then his shoulders sagged, the fight draining from him.“I’ll tell you everything,” he said quietly, his voice strained. “But I swear, Isabel, I never planned to betray you during our marriage. What happened with Lilith… it was a mistake—an accident I couldn’t undo.”His words struck me like a physical blow. An accident? My mind spun with disbelief and fury. How dare he reduce the utter destruction of my life to something as trivial as a mistake?“I didn’t even know what happened that night,” Emerson continued, his voice trembling. “I was drunk. I woke up with no memory, just… evidence. And then Lilith came to me months later, claiming she was pregnant. I didn’t believe her at first, but after Liam was born…” He hesitated, looking away as though ashamed to meet my gaze. “I did the paternity test. Liam is my son. That’s the truth.”The air in

Stay here with Isabel.”But I stepped forward, shaking my head. “I’m going with you.”Caleb turned to me, confused. “Isa, are you sure? You don’t look well yourself.”“I’m fine,” I replied, though I wasn’t. My legs felt like jelly, and my head was still spinning from everything that had happened earlier. My mind raced, grasping for an excuse that wouldn’t crumble under Emerson’s probing questions.“It’s nothing,” I said quickly, forcing my voice to steady. “Caleb is just overreacting. Isabel’s POVAs soon as the call ended, my mind was racing. Emerson hadn’t been himself all day, and now, hearing Robert mention Sebastian's name again, I couldn’t ignore it anymore. My thoughts swirled, and the questions I had tried to push down resurfaced, demanding answers. My eyes flicked over to Emerson, his grip tight on the steering wheel, his jaw set in that familiar, unreadable way that always made me uneasy.I couldn’t let it go any longer. “Emerson,” I said, my voice softer than I meant it to be. "What happened between you and Sebastian? You've been acting strange all day."He exhaled sharply, a deep, heavy breath, as if he had been holding it for too long. For a moment, he didn’t answer. Finally, his gaze met mine. His eyes were filled with sorrow, regret, and something else I couldn’t place—something darker, more complicated. He parked the car by the roadside and then turned to face me, his eyes never leaving mine. “Sebastian had a condition. For his sake, I forced myself to swallow the bitter taste of my emotions. “Don’t worry, Dad. Everything will be okay,” I whispered to him, hoping my words held some kind of truth. I held his hand tightly, squeezing it as though I could transfer some of my strength to him. I had to be strong for him. I had to.I caught Emerson’s eye, signaling him to cooperate. To show my father the support he needed. I expected him to nod, to act the part of the devoted husband. But when I looked at him, I saw a flicker of something darker in his eyes. Something wasn’t right. His jaw was clenched, and his hands were twitching at his sides. He seemed… uneasy, as though he were fighting a war within himself. I glanced at Emerson, and I could see the shock mirrored in his expression. His lips parted as if he, too, couldn’t fully grasp the magnitude of what my father had just shared. It felt like the ground beneath us was crumbling. My father, weak and fragile, looked at us with eyes that had seen too much. “Yes, someone had accessed me, or I should say, I was kidnapped to meet him,” Mr. White said, his voice hoarse but resolute. “I don’t know who they were. They threatened me to hand over my pharmaceutical company within one month.”The words came out slowly, but they hit me like a tidal wave. My mind struggled to process them, to understand the depth of the danger that had been lurking around us all along. “I refused, of course,” Mr. White continued, a glimmer of pride in his eyes despite his weakened state.

As I stepped closer, the faint gleam of blood on his knuckles caught my eye. My breath hitched.“Emerson,” I whispered sharply, crouching in front of him. “What’s going on? Were you fighting with Sebastian again?”His gaze flicked to mine, dark and unreadable, before shifting away. “No,” he muttered, his voice hoarse. “This... this is my doing.”I blinked, caught off guard. “What do you mean?”He flexed his hand, his knuckles raw and split. “I hit the wall. To clear my head. It’s nothing.”Anger and concern bubbled in my chest. I lowered my voice, leaning closer. “You can’t keep doing this to yourself, Emerson. You need to stop bottling everything up until you explode.”His lips twitched, but it wasn’t quite a smile. “I’m fine,” he said simply, then straightened. “What’s wrong? Why are you out here?”I sighed, brushing aside my fr

I don’t want to waste another second.”I reached out and took his hand, startled by how cool and fragile it felt in mine. His fingers curled around mine with a surprising strength, anchoring me in a moment I had dreamed of but never dared to believe would come true.“You’re here now,” I said, my voice trembling. “That’s all that matters.”He nodded, his gaze never leaving mine. “I wanted to wake up for you.
