|| Lilac’s POV ||

The morning sun lit up my room as I woke up, the shadows of a restless night still lingering. My first thought was to reach out to Runa, my wolf. But there was no response. My heart raced as I tried again, but still nothing. She was barely there. Something was wrong. Why had I been given this second chance? It didn’t make sense.

The smell of pancakes pulled me back to the present. Downstairs, I could hear the soft hum of conversation and the clinking of plates. It felt like home, like the life I’d fought so hard to protect.

I dressed carefully—a blouse, a pencil skirt, and heels. As I walked downstairs, the smell of pancakes and coffee grew stronger. My family was in the kitchen. Mom was at the stove, flipping pancakes. Dad sat at the table with his coffee, and Ezra, my younger brother, was reading a book. He looked so much like Dad, with the same dark hair and sharp features. Everything felt normal, and I wanted to keep it that way.

“Good morning, sweetpea,” Dad said, smiling at me.

“Morning,” I replied, sitting down.

Mom set a plate of pancakes in front of me. “You look different,” she said, studying me.

I glanced down. I *was* different. The naive girl who believed in fairy tales was gone. Now, I carried the weight of a second chance.

“I have some plans,” I said vaguely, picking up my fork.

Mom didn’t press, but her gaze lingered. Breakfast was peaceful, filled with casual chatter and the sound of forks on plates. But I couldn’t stay. I had work to do.

As I cleared the table, Ezra leaned against the doorframe. “Where are you off to so early?” he asked, still in his pajamas.

“Just errands,” I said.

He raised an eyebrow. “Errands? You look like you’re about to negotiate a business deal or break someone’s heart.”

I rolled my eyes. “It’s not a date outfit, Ezra.”

He smirked. “Are you cheating on Kael already?”

I shoved him lightly. “You’re so annoying.”

“It’s my job as your older brother,” he teased.

“You’re younger by a year,” I groaned, but I couldn’t help smiling. I’d missed his teasing.

The drive to the plaza was quiet. Today was the day. Kael was holding a conference here, and it was my chance to set my plan in motion.

When I arrived, the plaza was busy. Reporters and cameras were everywhere. I spotted Elara almost immediately. She ran over, her curly hair bouncing. “Lilac!” she exclaimed, hugging me. “I heard you’re Kael’s mate! This is huge!”

I forced a smile. “Yeah, it’s… something.”

She tilted her head. “You don’t sound excited. Isn’t this what you wanted?”

“It’s complicated,” I said. “But I need your help.”

Her eyes lit up. “What do you need?”

“Get me into the press room,” I said, lowering my voice. “There’s something I have to do.”

She grinned. “Consider it done. But you owe me the full story later.”

“Deal,” I said, relieved.

As we walked, I felt a flicker of hope. This was the first step in changing my fate. With Elara by my side, I could do it.

    || Lilac’s POV ||The press room was chaos—reporters rushing, keyboards clacking, and the smell of coffee and ink filling the air. I moved through it like a shadow, my heart racing. There was no time to hesitate. My mission was clear: plant a document that would cast doubt on Kael’s new “miracle pills.” If I could spark enough suspicion, it might buy me time to gather real proof before it was too late. I spotted a messy table near the wall, papers scattered everywhere. Perfect. No one would notice one more sheet. I flipped through the pile, pretending to search for something, and slipped my document in. It was subtle—just a few lines questioning the safety of the pills. A small spark, but enough to start a fire. As I stepped back, my fingers tingled. Every nerve screamed at me to leave before someone noticed. I forced myself to walk calmly, blending in with the frantic energy of the room. But with each step, doubt crept in. Was this the right thing to do? Was I any better than Kael i

For the first time, Kael’s carefully maintained composure cracked. He pushed up from his chair so abruptly that it scraped against the marble floor with a piercing screech. His palms slammed against the table, the impact echoing through the room like a gunshot. “Shut the fuck up!” he roared. The entire room fell deathly silent. A shiver ran through me, not from fear, but from exhilaration. The mighty Future Alpha King had lost control. I flinched, curling my shoulders inward as if I had been struck by his rage. My lower lip trembled, and I ducked my head, playing the part of the fragile, pitiful she-wolf who had been scolded for nothing more than speaking the truth. Let them see me as the wounded mate, let them whisper about how their future Luna had been humiliated in front of them all. Inside, I was smirking. The game had started, and I was winning. “Kael.” Alpha Asher’s voice boomed through the tense air, steady and commanding. “She will be your Luna. Treat her with re

    || Lilac’s POV ||The morning sun spilled through my curtains, painting my room in soft gold. I stretched, savoring the quiet... rare these days. The past week had left me raw, scraped thin, but I needed to pull myself together. Today was about moving forward. Then the doorbell rang. I frowned. Who the hell shows up this early? Padding downstairs, the marble floor cool under my bare feet, I hesitated before opening the door. And there he was. Kael. Of course. He stood on my doorstep, those golden eyes glinting like he’d already won something. In his hands? A massive bouquet of roses— deep red, velvety, expensive. The kind he used to bring me every time he screwed up. My stomach twisted. Back then, I’d thought it was romantic. Sweet, even. Now? I knew better. It wasn’t an apology. It was a reset button. A way to erase whatever he’d done, wrapped in pretty paper and thorns. "Good morning, Lilac." His voice was smooth, effortless. He held out the flowers like an offerin

    || Lilac’s POV ||The days lost count, every single one with the delivery of a new over-the-top present from Kael. A diamond chain that shone like the night sky, a designer bag more expensive than most people made in a month, a jar full of exotic orchids that smelt of summer flowers, every one accompanied by a letter in Kael's lovely handwriting. "To my future Luna," the letters said, every single one of them signed with strong letters. And they made me feel this bitter, smoldering fury. I was standing in my bedroom, gazing at the new present, a velvet case containing a pair of emerald earrings that suited my eye color. My reflection before the mirror caught my attention, and I found myself unable not to notice the difference I made. The gentleness in the eyes was erased, replaced with hardness that didn't exist there before. That girl who trusted in fairytales no more existed, taking the place of a woman knowing the cost of trust."Lilac, darling," my mom yelled from down the stairs,

The air was filled with the scent of food, shrimp pasta and tiramisu, my absolute favorites. I had no idea how Alaric had found out about my preferences, but the moment he opened the picnic basket and the aroma wafted out, my stomach growled in anticipation.“Hungry, dove?” Alaric teased, his voice low and smooth as he handed me a plate. His eyes sparkled with mischief, and I couldn’t help but blush as I took it from him.“Starving,” I admitted, my cheeks heating up as I dug into the pasta. The first bite was heavenly, the flavors exploding on my tongue. I couldn’t help but let out a small moan of satisfaction, which only made Alaric’s smirk widen.“You’re adorable when you eat,” he said, his tone playful but his gaze intense. He leaned closer, his eyes dropping to my lips. “You’ve got a little some

    || Lilac’s POV ||The evening air was crisp, carrying the faint scent of blooming night jasmine as we stepped out of the restaurant. The soft hum of the city buzzed around us, but my mind was far from the present. My thoughts were tangled in the web of the Nightshades, their name echoing in my head like a haunting melody. The girl at the counter had said it so casually, as if it were nothing, but her words had struck a chord deep within me. “Your table will always be taken care of by the Nightshades.” Why? Why would anyone like them pay for us?Dad strode ahead, his broad shoulders cutting through the cool night air as he made his way to the car.I slid into the backseat, the leather cool against my skin, and waited for the others to join. Ezra, my strong-willed, almost-eighteen-year-old brother, hopped in beside me, his youthful face set in a scowl. I could feel the eyes of every alpha, luna, and noble in the restaurant on me, their whispers filling the air like a low hum. So this was their plan, I thought, my mind racing. To turn the tables in public, to force me into a corner."I will do anything you ask me of. I will even reject her, right now, right here," He slowly stood up.Kael’s eyes fell on Coco, who looked more frightened than ever. Her lips parted as if she wanted to speak, but no words came out.“Besides, once you are marked and mated, the bond with her will fade since they are not mated yet,” Alpha King Darius said, his tone matter-of-fact.I almost laughed. In my past life, the bond between Kael and Coco had never faded, even after I mated with him. They had already been together, their connection stronger than anyone realized. But this time, I wouldn’t make the same mistake."You have grow

    || Lilac’s POV || The air was thick with the mingling scents of expensive perfumes and gourmet food, the atmosphere both luxurious and suffocating. We sat at the table, the tension palpable, our fake smiles plastered on like masks. The server had just poured us one of the most expensive wines on the menu, the deep red liquid swirling in the crystal glasses like liquid fire. I took a sip, the taste rich and bold, but it did little to ease the knot of unease in my stomach. “Thank you, Benson, for obliging the request,” Alpha King Darius said, his voice smooth and composed as he addressed my father. His golden eyes were sharp, his expression unreadable, but there was a flicker of something, guilt, perhaps, or regret, that I couldn’t quite place. “Not a problem,” Dad replied, his tone polite but clipped. He leaned back in his chair, his posture relaxed but his eyes sharp. “So, what did you want to talk about?” Luna Cassandra smiled, her warm eyes turning to me. “
