“Ash, considering you already know that I can tell when you are lying, why do you insist on doing it?”

“Joe needs to relieve Billy so if you would please hurry up?” He reached for my hand but I pulled away.

“Ash, what are you planning?” I said angrily. I looked back at the table, searching for a needle or a drug that was meant to put me out, or paralyze me, or whatever just to make sure I couldn’t fight them when they cut me open.

“I promise you, Lee, we don’t plan on forcing you to do anything you don’t want. I just want to check you.” Joe spoke softly. Maria moved close to him, her face reassuring.

“Then why is everyone so alert?” I swallowed hard as fear crawled into me. “Its Baku isn’t it?” I didn’t think he would be brave enough to follow up on his threat especially with Ash around.

A deep rumble rolled over Ash’s chest. His fists clenched and his jaw tightened. I saw the silver creep into his eyes before he quickly closed them. That was all I needed as an answer. I moved to him
