"Nothing. What are you holding?" Sarah deliberately changed the subject.

"A friend gave me a bottle of wine. It smells great."

Henry smiled as he asked Lydia, "Why don't we try it together?"

He could not figure out what was making Lydia so miserable.

Lydia eventually came to her senses. She had just begun to form a favorable opinion of Henry. She did not want what Sarah said to be true. She was extremely upset and uncomfortable.

When she noticed Henry acting as if he felt nothing, she could not help but ask him, "Henry, let me ask you a question, and you must answer it truthfully."
