Getting Mary and everything back in the car really wasn't as easy as I thought it would have been with everything still mostly packed as we hadn't gotten to the unpacking part as of yet. It had taken a little more time than I had wanted it to take but we were still able to leave before any wolves showed up.

Keeping my eyes in the rear view mirror I saw some shadows of wolves just as we were turning from the dirt road onto the paved road. I hope and pray to the Moon Goddess that they do not give chase and just let us leave peacefully and without a fight.

I might not have seen anyone following but being on the run for the last five years have definitely taught me that not seeing someone following doesn't mean that they aren't following behind you. I drove around taking random turns and making random stops just to be sure that I wasn't being followed and that they had just wanted to install a false sense of security by staying a little back making me think I am not being followed at all.

Deciding that it would be best to pull over and get some rest for the rest of the night before continuing somewhere again tomorrow I went to the nearest town that should have a bed and breakfast.

As I was driving I saw a 24 hour local store and stopped getting all Mary's favourite foods and snacks as she will be one hangry little girl when she finally wakes up from her nap. She fell asleep almost immediately after we started driving which was good because I don't like her seeing me so worried and looking over my shoulder.

After I got the needed groceries and supplies I drove further till I saw a bed and breakfast that had their ' rooms available' sign shining brightly.

This is definitely not a life of lap and luxury as some people are led to believe. Some days you really barely get any sleep in or you stay in crappy places just to get some sort of rest to be able to continue running for your life.

I had successfully booked a room for the two of us and was just in time back to the car for little Mary to start stirring and waking up.

"Where are we daddy?"

She rubbed the remains of the sleep from her eyes and looked at me with her green and blue mix eyes. Those eyes are really beautiful.

"Just at a place to sleep tonight. We are leaving tomorrow again as soon as I have found a new place for us to live in and go to. I promise we won't be sleeping here longer than tonight and..."

I fetched the bag of goodies and showed it to her. She was so excited that she squealed.

I unbuckled her from her seat and gave her a little light bag to carry up the stairs to the room where we will be spending the night. After we ate and had some snacks and hot cocoa as tradition is I put Mary to bed.

Once I was certain that she was fast asleep I snuck out and went to go for a run in the forest. Ares was happy to be let out as I had to keep him on a tight lease the last couple of days because of the constant moving around and with Mary being sick there just wasn't the time to let him out.

I let him take the lead so I could sit back and think of what to do tomorrow and where to go. Usually I do a lot of research about the small place and the people of the place as well as the packs in or near the new town.

When I arrived back to the motel I quickly slipped on my pants and the shirt I left out for me in the tree and ran back to the room as I didn't want to leave Mary alone for too long. Opening the door slowly I see that she is still in dreamland and quickly get my laptop before moving to the couch as to not bother her.

It was just before ten when I started working and when I looked up it was already four am and I knew I needed to go and lie down and get at least that little three to four hours of sleep before getting back on the road.

I was awoken by little hands trying to tickle me. I pretended not to be feeling her little hands when I heard her sigh and climb on top of me trying to tickle me even better. I had her right where I wanted her and trapped her in a giant bear hug tickling her all over and hearing that little laughter of her that I have grown to love over the years. After our little tickle fest we just laid in bed, giggling and cuddling until I heard her stomach start growling.

"Is someone hungry?"

I poked her stomach and asked her. She giggled and nodded her head yes. I knew she would be hungry. She is always hungry. After another few tickles I got up and went to get breakfast ready while Mary got dressed. I can't wait to see what combination she comes up with for today. Thinking back to the ones the last week her choice is definitely going to be funny.

I had gotten quite a lot of work done last night and even had the whole trip planned out for the next few days. I was thinking that we could go along the paved road and see where it leads us. The only packs in the area is one peaceful pack a couple of hundred of kilometres away and we will not be heading in their direction either way just to be safe.

After breakfast we got on the road and drove the most of the way to the room that I had booked for the night on the way to the little house that will probably become home for a little longer than the normal two or three months we usually stay.

Only time will tell I am afraid.

Mary's P.O.V I woke up way before we arrived at the bed and breakfast last night. I just saw how worried dad was and how not worried his eyes were when he saw me sleeping and save so I pretended to sleep all the way there. I don't know who these bad men are and daddy doesn't want to tell me the story but when I see how afraid dad is that makes me really scared because dad is this big tough man and him being scared means that the bad men have to be even bigger and badder than daddy. I was kinda scared when he got out of the car after he stopped and left me alone in the car to go into the store but I'm a big girl and that means I can't be scared of stuff like this. I have asked daddy if I could train with him but he said that I am still to young for all of that and that when the time comes he will start my training. I really try and be the best girl I can be as to not put any extra stress and worry towards dad because he already has. Somet

I woke up quite early despite what had happened last night and didn't feel like I needed any more sleep so I decided to wake daddy up by launching an all out tickle fest on him. He loved to do it to me so why should I let him have all the fun when I can also have some fun.To say my plan didn't work would be an understatement. He hadn't even moved and when I sighed and got on him so I could reach his most ticklish arms he had me in a tight bear hug making me giggle when he started tickling me back just as much as I had tickled him when I wanted to wake him up.Not wanting to get up and daddy still holding me close and cuddling me we just laid in bed until my stomach growled loudly.Daddy started poking me in the stomach asking if I was hungry. His poking made me giggle again but I still managed to do a yes nod with my head telling him that I was indeed hungry. Daddy started tickling me again before he told me to get dressed so long and to meet him do

Ryder's P.O.V I don't think that Mary was too interested in the going to school idea. She smiled and agreed but her face really didn't show that she was too happy. I don't mind teaching her everything that she does need to know but the social interaction would be great for he especially because she doesn't get to really talk to anyone at the moment. As promised if she finished her dinner she got her ice-cream. It looked so nice and refreshing so I stole a few spoons making her giggle and be mock angry at me for stealing her ice-cream. She really can't stay mad at me because on the way home I gave her a piggyback and that instantly cheered her up and made her smile and laugh for me again. I love how her mood just changes from one extreme to the next in literally a speck of time. I decided that with it being her birthday next month that I would slowly start easing her into telling her about us being werewolves and that hopefully I could get he

Queen Dianne’s P.O.VFlashback to six years ago Royal palaceI was just leaving the nursery because my little miracle was sound asleep and the guard was stationed outside her window keeping her safe from everything. We are really blessed to have had her after struggling for years and having quite a lot of miscarriages. I was ready to give up and live with the fact that we would not have any children of our own and I know Zach was really sad because of this.We both decided that we would be trying one last time and then our miracle little Mary was born without any complications or problems. The morning of her birth was the most stressful and funny day in my life. Zach was so cute being so worried when I told him that my water had broke and that he would need to get me to the pack hospital. He ran around the house for like ten minutes looking for his keys when we wouldn’t even need them.I pi

That was unfortunately not the case because when I woke up the next morning it was still the exact same as the day before and nothing turned out to be a nightmare. Mary was really gone and no amount of searching and looking led us anywhere and we were no closer to finding than we were the day she went missing. We hired private detectives, and we made announcements and pleas and posters and pictures asking for her safe return but none of that helped. It was as if she had disappeared from the face of the earth never to be seen again.Zach has started going more and more into his shell and never really smiles or laughs anymore. We haven’t had a joyous moment since she was taken five years ago. I can’t really blame him because I haven’t been any better myself also. I miss that little bundle of joy.Its like the moon Goddess closed off the happiness tap and opened the depression and sadness tap fully.Today she would have been six years old and we would have had a huge celebration and ever

Turns out that they left almost immediately after Liam got the tip and he followed their scent for a while but lost them again. Honestly, I don’t know anymore. This constant hope is going to be the death of both me and Zach.Ryders’ P.O.VHer nightmares continued and started coming more frequently. I don’t know how long it will continue before it changes into what really happened and she starts hating me. I decided that I would take her on a picnic and we could try and see if something that happened is the cause of the nightmares.I was thinking it could be the warning signs of her wolf coming forward but her smell hasn’t changed at all so that one is ruled out.I thought about her and the little wolf she met and thought that that could be the reason for her nightmares and that she had smelled him and then linked it with some smells from her past but I’m not sure if that could be the case as she isn’t supposed to be able to link smells until her wolf comes. All this uncertainty was giv

Ryder’s P.O.VThe woman stopped like four yards from us and placed the basket on the ground in front of her feet. She still wasn’t talking and kept on staring at us. I still couldn’t get a read on her scent. I definitely smell something that is not entirely human, but she is not a wolf or anything I have been in contact with before and I’ve been in contact with quite a lot of species before this whole running away and hiding away part of my life even started.Being part of the royal pack definitely has its advantages in this regard. Royal visits to the other realms and meeting the other species of the supernatural world. She started taking a few more steps toward me and started motioning with her arms and it looked like she was trying to tell me something, but the words were not coming out of her mouth. She pointed to her mouth and showed me something.“Okay so if I understand you correctly then you are either not able to talk at all or you are not able/ want to talk to me at this mome

Ryder's P.O.VAfter dropping the flowers into the basket she turned around, and waved at me and Dora before running back into the flower field probably thinking that she had not yet picked enough to fill the entire house like she had wanted to do. I watched her pick some more bouquets and place them in the basket along with the other ones before she ran back with one in her hand holding it out to Dora who willingly took it with the biggest smile on her face I have yet to see. Before I had time to give her a sandwich she had already run off to the field again trying to tug the basket back over to us. After I sat and watched her struggle for a little while longer I decided enough was enough now. "Mary, come and have a sandwich before you pass out." She looked up from where she was still struggling with the basket she ha

Mary's P.O.V I don't remember how long I was awake after we left, but I know it wasn't long. Car rides always made me sleepy, and in all the years, I have not once managed to stay awake long enough to see the whole trip. The calming sound of the tyres on the road just lulls me to sleep with its calming lullaby. Being shaken awake, out of my calming sense of sleep, wasn't something that I wanted. Smacking the hands away from me and murmuring for them to leave me alone also didn't seem to work because I was still shaken even after that. "Dora is picking the snacks alone, and we both know she doesn't have the best taste. You might want to go and help her." That had me awake almost immediately. She never chooses the speckled eggs and always goes for kale chips or something healthy and sugarless that has no taste at all. Smiling and eating it just to make her happy is what dad and I did, but for the last while it has been becoming increasingly more difficult. Jumping out of the car,

Ryder's P.O.V When Mary told me that she felt watched and followed from the library that had me worried already but when she told me that she had noticed the change in the attendants in some of the shops and someone told her to run I was glad that she was able to get home safely. I really want to meet that person who told her to run because I want to thank them for their help but she said that she didn't see who talked to her and that there wasn't anyone that she saw near her so she has no idea who talked to her. She mentioned that is why she said that it could have been something before she said someone. At the moment, I didn't care who or what it was, I was just really grateful that she was okay. The most important thing on my mind was to get everything packed up into the car and leave before there was the need for another fight. Mary didn't know who it was, and with that little knowledge gap she had because of me not telling her what she is and what actually exists, that could

"RUN!"I didn't have any time to think about the voice in my head because the tone of the voice just let me know that there was no space for argument and that if I didn't run I would regret it soon enough. I might not be feeling the eyes on me anymore but that didn't mean that they weren't lurking somewhere behind me. I didn't know whether I would be able to make it back home before whatever was chasing me caught up to me but I was hell-bent on getting there. Luckily I had the recently acquired speed on my side helping me zoom past everything faster than I have ever thought of running. I thought where would be the safest to stop and try and get into the house because I didn't want to struggle with the extremely solid front door that took forever to push open and I didn't leave any windows open when I left not thinking that I would need to make a quick entry into the house. Exiting the town square and entering the little clearing where the house is located I was so glad to see that

Mary's P.O.VWaking up I got the pendant out again fully intending to find out exactly what it was and what it means. I was hoping this would help me to be able to retrace my steps of last night and find out what had happened and in whose blood I was covered. I didn't want to let my imagination sore and think of random possibilities and scenarios because each one that I had come up with was more gruesome than the previous one and to be honest I was making myself both sick and scared.I didn't want to take it to Dory or dad because I didn't have a story to tell them about where I had gotten it and I didn't even have the energy to be creative enough to make up a story of how I had happened to get it into my possession. I had a feeling that telling them that I had picked it up on the street would not suffice and that they would not buy that story.Full well intending to go to the library and see what I could find out about the pendant, I had started my

Unknown's P.O.VWe had just finished dinner and were walking back to my place where I had plans for the lovely lady that was so willing to accompany me on this date tonight. Little did she know that she would not be seeing her beloved cat again after I am finished with her.Taking them out for dinner and getting the drunk and soft makes it easier for me. Also, you know slipping something into a drink here and there has also never hurt anybody, well except for the girls of course. Blood from a willing victim just tastes so much better than blood from someone struggling. The fear that courses through it just adds a weird aftertaste that I have learned that I do not care to taste when I need to refill my energy levels.I mean I could always just use my powers of persuasion on them, drink my full and let them go with them not remembering anything but where is the fun in doing that? I have more than just hunger needs that I have to fulfil and in any case

  • Hidden In Plain Sight    Chapter 39

Mary's P.O.V I didn't think that I had missed as much as I had missed while I was out but by listening to the story that Dora was telling me I did in fact miss a lot. We were even at the second location since the attack that dad was sidestepping the whole time. To be honest I felt better than what I remember feeling the last time with the doctor and his wife. I don't feel so scared and weak as I did with them and since I woke up on my own without the screams ringing through the whole room meant that hopefully, the nightmares would also not be present this time. Maybe it was the fact that I was older and understood more of what was going on in the world or maybe because in my heart I had started making peace with the fact that I was not normal and that the other people in my family were also not normal. I mean my dad can turn into a werewolf at will and Dora has this weird relationship with plants and little creatures. She also collapses when peopl

Dora's P.O.V Ryder left to go and make sure that there would be no werewolves here that would cause us trouble before he signed the lease for the house he had gotten us. The fact that we would only be able to occupy it in a few days because the owner said she was still getting it ready for renters was making me uneasy. I mean Ryder said that he had booked this place a while ago when he was working out the plan ahead of time so she knew there were people coming here to rent it so she could have made sure that she had it all ready before now. I just found it strange that she didn't make sure that the place would be done and ready when she had gotten the rent request from Ryder and accepted it from her side. It made me suspicious and I shared these with Ryder before he left and he said that he would check it out and make sure before we jumped to any conclusions. I agreed but that didn't mean that I would sit back and let him do everything on his own. I had my own ways of finding out i

I honestly don't know what I did to anger the moon goddess because she did not listen to my prayers. We had not gotten far away before the three were on our tails again. This time, they weren't being safe around Mary anymore, and they were doing whatever they felt was necessary to get her from the car. I didn't have the time to look back and make sure that she was safe and not scared out of her mind because one wrong move on my part could send us all to an early grave, if not lifelong imprisonment. They had shifted and were chasing us in their wolf forms, bumping against the car every once in a while, biting at the tyres making me swerve before getting back control. I could barely keep the car on the road as it was but with the nipping and everything, they were making it a lot more challenging to keep it steady. Just when it looked like they were backing off, one of them managed to get a good enough bite into the tyre and have it run flat. Not being able to continue with the flat

  • Hidden In Plain Sight    Chapter 36

Ryder's P.O.V Hearing the crunching leaves and breaking branches alerted us that someone was coming and that they were coming fast. I knew it was not the people after Dora because she would have been incapacitated by now with how close they were to us. I knew it had to be either the rebellion or the royal guard. I didn't want Dora or Mary to be here to find out who it was along with me, so I had them go along to the car for so long. I could see Mary struggling to listen to me, and I had to force her gently to go along with Dora to the car, but it is for the best and for her best. If they would find her here with me they would have dragged her back after they had killed me and Dora and made her do their bidding if it was the rebellion and if it was the royal guard they would have done the same except they would not have dragged her back but they would have taken her back to her parents if they were still alive. After she had disappeared, they had closed off, and nobody had seen them i
