Owen

***Five years earlier.****

The sound of the truck hitting the side of my smaller car was deafening. My body felt like it was floating as the car flew through the air rolling several times before coming to a stop. Glass was everywhere. My whole body was in pain. Every airbag in the car had deployed. One hit me head-on, while another came from my left side. It all happened so fast. One second, everything was going so well. We were laughing and singing along with the songs on the radio. The next, the world seemed to end as everything went silent. The last thing I remember was hanging upside down inside my flipped-over car, blood flowing down into my eyes as everything went black.

When I open my eyes next, I am in a cold room with mint-colored walls. The only sound was of the machines connected to all the wires connected to me making beeping sounds. The room was dark except for the glow of the same machines that showed I was still alive. I tried to sit up, but moving proved to be ver

AlisonI was left in my old room alone. Bryce didn't go far, though. I could still hear him in the suite that used to be my families living space in the pack house. I heard him talking to others more than once, but no one ever bothered me. At one point, I must have dozed off because when I woke again, there was a large bag that had been left at the foot of my bed. Sitting up, I pulled the bag to me, opening it. Inside were a couple of shirts, pants, packages with new undergarments and socks, and shoes. At the bottom of the bag were also some essential hygiene items. None of the items were fancy, but they would get me by until I figured out what I was going to do. I honestly wasn't sure I wanted to stay with the pack. I mean, after all, they had left me at a time I could have really used them. Then again, they came for me and brought me back to the pack in the end. But was that really enough? I wasn't sure. I was still deciding what I would do as far as they went. Bryce said I would n

AdamSince letting Alison go, my wolf has been angry with me. We hurt our mate all because we couldn’t be patient. If only we had been patient. To top off my wolf being angry with me, I have had Teresa pushing to know what happened. Why did I let a wolf we had locked up go? She wouldn’t let it go and kept pushing. But I wasn’t ready or even sure how I would explain everything to not just her but the rest of the pack. I tried going over everything with Ian and Charles, but even they didn’t know what to do. Could we get by with not saying anything to the pack about what my father had done? Sure, it had been my father’s mistake and not mine. But then how would I explain to the pack I had found my mate and was forced to let her go? It was something I would not be able to get around. I would either one-day show signs of being weaker due to her finding someone else and choosing to be with them. Or even the possibility she would choose to reject me outright, leaving me obviously weaker. Of c

AlisonLeaving Adam behind, I let my wolf take the lead. Running through the woods. Saying our rejection out loud was much harder than we thought it would be. And to make things worse, he refused to accept it. Why? Did he wish to torcher us more? I didn't know. But for now, I let my wolf run and release some energy. We would have to figure out what to do. I couldn't leave my things in a hotel forever. The money in the bank account would only last for so long. I have never had a job and wasn't sure getting one would be easy with my record. But I would have to try, I guess. We ran for another hour before making our way back towards town and the hotel where my things were. Thankfully it was after dark when I returned and was able to sneak in unseen and get back to my room. Well, I should say unseen as far as I knew. If anyone was watching the cameras or looking out their windows, they got a full-on show of me walking through the halls naked as I made my way to the ice room first to retr

AdamAdmitting to my pack that not only had my father messed up but so had I was one of the worst things I think I ever had to do. They, of course, forgave me. I was their alpha, and even though I had made a mistake, I was owning up to it. Teresa wasn’t so forgiving after finding out I had found my mate and hadn’t instantly rejected her. I was married to her, for goddess sake. She moved out of our room and back into the house her parents had outside of the pack house. But she was at my office door by the end of the first month. I had let her in even though I knew what she was there for. We had split up so many times before getting married it was like a part of our routine. We would fight, and she would sulk for a day or week, then come back, giving me puppy dog eyes. Ian had just filled me in on the movement of some rogues that seemed to be congregating close by. None of them bothered with the pack or even attempted to cross the borders. So, we were simply keeping an eye on them. Ther

OwenMidday, and I had already taken care of everything I needed to do for the day. The animals were all fed, the eggs were collected from the chickens, and all the water troughs were full. All that was left was doing another feeding for the animals tonight. None of the vegetables in the garden would be ready to be picked until next week. So I decided to spend some time relaxing inside. I had no more than made a sandwich for lunch when the sound of something scratching on the door caught my attention. Curious, I made my way through the front room and opened the door. To my surprise, a large black wolf collapsed at my feet. I was frozen for a few seconds until I noticed blood pooling around the back end of the wolf. It wasn’t moving, but I could tell it was still alive. I knew the people in the area had a thing about shooting the wildlife in the area. Just another reason I hated people. I never saw any of the animals come up on my small farm and go after any of my animals. I had no rea

OwenI sat and watched her eat for a few minutes before returning to my food. She didn't seem happy that she had gotten hurt. Though, who wouldn't be happy they had gotten shot? But to be honest, I was surprised that only one bullet had made contact. For the most part, all the kids in the town were shown how to use a gun at a young age. If two of them had fired at her, I would have thought both would have hit her. This alone didn't really help my view of the human race. Even less knowing they shot at her wolf, who, from the sounds of it and by where she had been hit, was moving away from them and not towards them. Shaking my head, I finished my food. When I finished, I found her sitting across from me, staring at me just as I had stared at her earlier and watching me. "So tell me, Owen, where did you learn to stitch someone up?" Scoffing, I grabbed her plate and mine and got up from the table. "I was a doctor in another life." A small smile pulled at her lips. "Well, then, I did

AlisonI had been wrong earlier, thinking I was close to the pack my parents once belonged to. I was too far away from them. Or at least I couldn't hear them, nor them me, as far as I could tell. And if my gut was right, those guys in the truck weren't just ordinary humans. When I was little, my father told me stories about humans that hunted our kind. Only going after lone wolves or rogues who they deemed were a danger to the human world. And well, I am sure even though I have served my time in their prison, not to mention the guy I killed was done in self-defense. I would qualify as a danger to them. Though I really didn't want to stick around and find out if I was right or wrong. My wolf and my gut agreed if I stuck around any longer, it would make for the second mistake I would have made in the last twenty-four hours. I was going to have to talk with Bryce or maybe Dominic and find out if I was right. Because if I was, I am sure I wasn't going to make it on my own. Nor did I want

AdamWe spent the day searching the woods, the whole time staying well under the radar of the hunters that were also in the woods. They were on the hunt for who they thought was just another rogue wolf. They didn't know she wasn't alone. At least not if I could help it. We had to find her first. And the longer it took to find her, the more I worried we would be too late. As it was, I had long lost the sensation of being injured. This made my wolf push harder, refusing to believe she was gone. Just the thought alone sent a pain through my chest that was nearly as bad as the day she rejected us. Then finally, there was news. The hunters were converging on one location. Following them, we made a perimeter around the whole location. Once my men were in place, I ordered them to close in. In doing so, we ensured the humans in the woods knew they were outnumbered and she wasn't alone as they thought. Nothing more was needed. The humans took the hint and got the hell out of dodge. Not before

AlisonWith Owen and the babies secure, I made my way out of the house. The howels were close by. From the communication coming through the pack's link, the fight was moving in my direction. With a sigh, I made my way off the porch, letting my wolf take over. Moving in the direction of the closest fight was. It didn't take long to recognize who was crossing into our territory. I had spent weeks learning every marking on the wolves that patrolled near the cabin Adam held me at. They left us alone for over a year. And now they wanted to take their revenge. It was slightly maddening. They could have done this sooner. But I would not allow them to go farther into the territory. Joining the worriers that were already there, I helped fight them off. After everything that happened, I have spent even more time training with the rest of the pack. Learning to protect not only myself but everyone else around me. My wolf was strong. We knew this. Not just because she has done what she needed to

OwenI don’t know how he made it happen. But by the time we returned home, Damion had already had everything we would need delivered to the house. The only thing he had the guys set up was a bassinet that was placed in Alison and my room. Everything else was left in their boxes and left in one of the two empty rooms in the house. Allowing us to decide which room would be Hopes and allowing us to be the ones to set it up how we wished it to be. That, of course, didn’t stop him or Bryce from coming over in the coming days to help get everything put together and set up. But I was grateful for the courtesy of allowing us to make the decision on colors and whatnot. Though it wasn’t hard to decide that our baby Hope was going to be anything other than a princess. Being a father was definitely something I didn’t think would be in my cards after everything that happened in my past. And now I don’t know that my life would have been whole if I had never met Alison and she wasn’t the mother to

AlisonStanding there listening to Alpha Nikolai suggest that I wasn’t going to be allowed to leave, and they planned to use me for things I have fought not to happen to me in my life. I am not going to lie. It was hard to control my wolf. Handing my baby girl to her father was the only way I knew to not only protect her but him. If they were going to allow her to leave, then he was the one to leave with her. He would keep her safe. Once she was safe in her father’s arms, my wolf pushed forward, giving a warning growl. One that was cut off by Damion looking over at me with a warning in his eyes but also a warning not just to me but to Bryce through our link. “Not yet. Both of you need to calm down.” A quick glance at Bryce told me his wolf was not a fan of what was being said either. But at Damion’s command, we were both able to pull our wolves back and stay calm while he handled things. Which, if I haven’t said before, he was a damn good Alpha. He looked so calm and collected. OwenThey were both healthy. Both my girls were fine. I could breathe again, knowing they were both healthy. However, that didn’t stop the feeling as though something wasn’t right. Standing back up, I did my best to continue to stay calm and keep the role of only being one of the pack’s doctors. A voice in my head told me not to do more than that. If I showed any signs that I was more than just a doctor for the pack and that I was Alison’s partner, something bad was going to happen. It could have just been me being paranoid or reading too much into what Damion said before we left the plane. But the way the one guy that had been in the room with Alison when we walked in didn’t help make the feeling go away. Giving a slight nod to Damion to let him know we were good to go, I stayed close to Alison. Damion returned my nod with one of his own as he turned back to Alpha Nikolai. “Thank you for your help in finding Alison for us. And I do apologize for her trespassing on your land.” Alph

AlisonAfter collapsing with my baby girl in my arms, I was carried back to this packs, pack house. I was placed in a room and left with a woman who didn't know English. Or she didn't seem to, as the only response I could get from her was a smile and a nod of her head, and she continued helping me to get cleaned up. When she was done, and I was dressed in a hospital gown and lying in a bed, she left the room. I was left there with my little girl, who was also now dippered and wrapped in a blanket. A few minutes later, the woman returned with a guy who looked me over. Again, he didn't seem to know English. Leaving me to only guess the guy must be a doctor and the woman a nurse. The two looked me over in a similar way that Owen would have if I had been injured and at home. My attention going back to my baby. Tears sprang up in my eyes. I wished Owen was here. I wish I knew how he felt about being a father. I never got the chance to tell him. Though, I wonder if it matters at the moment

OwenThe rest of the flight was done in silence. The others left me to my thoughts. By the time the plane landed, I was nervous beyond belief. Alison had been pregnant when she was taken, and they said that the she-wolf that was found was in the middle of giving birth. This could very well be her, in which case I was not simply going to be a father. But I was a father. I was not only on my way to hopefully see the love of my life. But also meet my baby. My baby? Was it a boy or a girl? Was it healthy? Was Alison healthy? She had been taken while she was pregnant. Did they make sure she had everything she needed? Had they provided her with any care at all during her pregnancy? They said she was in the middle of giving birth when she was found. Was there any complications? All these things I needed to know. I needed to see her. To look her over and be sure myself not only Alison was well, but our baby was too. The moment I felt the plan stop, I unclipped my seat belt and stood. Damion'

AlisonThe cabin was a little bigger than the one we stayed at before. I still had to sleep in the same bed as Adam. And for the first month with the cuffs on. But the bathroom had walls instead of a curtain. And the kitchen had a stove so we could cook. Adam didn’t let me out of his sight for the first month or so. Only letting me outside when he was there to watch me. Chaining me inside anytime he left. Occasionally, he would return with someone to look at the mark on my neck. Every one of them left with him angry because they said there was nothing they could do about it. My guess was he was looking for someone to remove it, which was impossible. But that didn’t stop him from trying. By the second month, he was leaving me alone without chaining me up. I was also allowed to sleep at night without the cuffs on connecting me to him. Without the chain on me, I was able to move freely throughout the whole cabin, versus being confined to the bathroom area and the bed. I used my newfound

OwenWaking up, my head felt like someone had sucker punched me right in the temple. Only I know that's not what happened. I had been drugged while Alison was taken. Several pack wolves surrounded me, checking on me. All the while, I could hear Bryce there, already giving orders to follow her scent. Damion showed up just as I was being helped into a sitting position, taking over and giving orders to find Alsion. The van she was taken in was already being followed. The only problem was the members following it lost it after a while. Leaving the search to grow cold. At least until after dark when some of the guys picked up on the scent of the guys that took Alison. On Damion's orders, the guys were picked up and brought back to the pack. I will give it to the guys. They did well on holding out. It took Damion's guys nearly a week to get any information out of them. By then, it was too late. Adam was long gone with Alison. That didn't stop the search, though. We kept going. Damion calle

AlisonAdam’s scent surrounded me. I didn’t need to open my eyes to know who was behind my kidnapping. Laying there, I kept my eyes closed as I took stock of myself. I was alright. I wouldn’t be able to shift because he placed another one of those collars around my neck. All my wolf would be able to do was continue to protect our baby, which she was doing a really good job of. It was going to be up to me to get us out of this. A task I am sure will be easier said than done. But I was up for the challenge. The car we were in slowed to a stop. I chanced a quick peek as I watched Adam put the car in park and climb out. I didn’t have a lot of time to plan or even think my escape through. I had just enough time to shift in the seat as he walked around to the other side of the car and opened the back door. Taking the opportunity, I kicked him hard. Landing my blow at his midsection, taking him off guard and making him stumble backward. Grabbing the door, I pulled it closed, hitting the loc
