Ophelia nodded her head to the music, mouthing every word, her hair rippling in the breeze, her hand out the window.

Adrian glanced at her, smiling to himself. So this was what she was like?

Heh. It was nice.

"Do you know this song?" She asked over the wind.

"Eh, no. I'm not really a music person," he replied.

She gasped. "Well, if we're friends, you're gonna be jamming a lot. I listen to a little of everything."

He stopped at the red light, taking the opportunity to look at her more closely.

She was very interesting. He didn't usually think people were interesting. They were boring and predictable.

But she was different.

"Isn't it weird?" He asked. "I am your boss."

She looked over at him. "Not right now. Right now, you're my new friend Adrian. That's not weird. That's beautiful."

He looked ahead, accelerating. "Ophelia I was right about you."

"About what?" She asked.

"You weren't made for this time. I always thought so," he smiled.

She shrugged. "I think so too sometimes."

He said nothing, the brisk air whipping in his face.

"Hey...Adrian?"

He glanced over, not used to her calling him his name. "Yes?"

"Two things. Can you take your hair down? And can we stop by McDonald's?"

He came to another stop light, taking his hair from his ponytail, and then slowly changing lanes.

"Sure. I have time." He shrugged.

Ophelia grinned. "Thanks so much Adrian! You're so pretty! I just wanted to see your hair in the wind."

He blushed. "I think you're pretty too," he said lowly.

"Huh? Speak up!"

He cleared his throat. "I said...we can be pretty together then."

"Well, I'll try. But seriously, are you God's favorite or not?" She chuckled, making her hand ride the waves of air.

"No, I don't think I'm His favorite. But He's blessed me, so I'm thankful," he said candidly.

Ophelia paused, she paused her song, rolling up the window.

He shifted uncomfortably. Was she upset? Had he said something wrong?

"You know, you're hot. You have money. And then you say things like that. Something must be wrong. You're hot and respectful. Why are you single?"

He blushed. "I'm busy. And socially awkward."

She smiled. "Nothing wrong with that, Adrian. I am too. I literally avoid people whenever I can."

He sighed, glad he got out of that conversation.

Why was he single?

"I prefer to watch and be silent," he explained, talking more to himself than her.

She was listening.

"I don't like applause. I don't like attention. I just do what I need to do quietly. The rest? I leave to someone else."

He looked away, feeling her eyes.

"That's good. But you know, sometimes, we need to know we're doing good. You know externally."

He nodded.

She smiled. "Don't worry. You don't have to get that from people who don't know you. I'm your friend now, so I'll give you the applause you deserve."

He chuckled. "We've only been friends for about an hour, but I have a feeling this will be a very interesting and beneficial friendship, Ophelia."

"I think so too," she rolled the window back down. "By the way, are you hungry? My treat?"

"I'll probably get some nuggets," he quipped.

"Really? I'd think you didn't eat fast food."

"Why?"

"You're so fit," she glanced at him, looking away.

"I work out. I try not to eat like crap, but it doesn't tend to work," he snorted. "So I work out to balance my horrible diet."

She blinked. "Oh. I can tell."

He said nothing, his ears heating up. He wished that would stop happening. It was embarrassing.

He parked the car and he got out, opening the door for her.

She thanked up, promptly tripping on her own foot.

He caught her, his hand holding her wrapped around her arm, keeping him close to her.

His hair brushed her shoulder. He held her there a little awkwardly, not knowing what to do.

"I'm thinking of cutting my hair," he said calmly. "What do you think?"

"I think you'll look attractive either way," she replied just as calmly.

They blinked. "You smell like peaches. Did you know that?"

She nodded. "Yeah. I like peaches so I um...use it as my fragrance. Like shampoo and lotion and stuff?"

He nodded. "Smells...smells great."

They stood there a while.

"Are you gonna pull me up, or...?"

"Oh! Yes! Yes." He smiled, pulling her upright, adjusting her clothing. "Yes...I am."

He patted her head awkwardly before walking away with a cringe.

Honestly. Could he not act like a damn virgin around her?
