CHAPTER 7

THE CHAPEL 

NUN #1 : Congratulations Mrs. Creed, you’ve giving birth to a bouncing baby boy 

MARTHA : Thank you… can I hold him please?? 

NUN #2 : Of course ( has she hands over the baby to Martha) 

MARTHA : He has his father’s eyes but I do wonder where he got the white hair from, I know it’s not from my family tree ( she says amidst a tired laugh) 

MIDWIFE : You should lay down to rest now, we would be leaving shortly 

The women are about to continue their little chatter when the building they are in begins to tremble with immense force, Martha sits upright in bed has the trembling continues 

MARTHA : What exactly is going on out there… ( with a tensed look on her face) 

NUN #1 : Lord held us… ( she does a sign of the cross across her face )

A holy knight barges into the chapel covered in blood with exasperation on his face, the nuns and midwife are struck with fear has they are shocked by the sudden entry of the knight 

MARTHA : What are you doing here, what’s going on out there… I thought the battle would be over by now 

HOLY KNIGHT #7 : You all need to flee at once, this place is no longer safe…. ( with heavy breath) 

MIDWIFE : What do you mean we should flee??... I thought the chosen had gone out to take care of the attack, what happened to them?? 

HOLY KNIGHT #7 : The chosen have fallen, slain by a powerful demon who calls himself “Draco of the Named”, the Holy knights are being beaten back with heavy losses, this church will not be able to stand for too long…

As the Holy knight is speaking with the midwife, the trembling comes to a complete halt after which a loud explosion is heard at the church gates 

HOLY KNIGHT #7 : oh no, the demons have broken into the church…

MARTHA : Is Elijah still alive??... ( with her head down and her arms placed on the bed sheets) 

HOLY KNIGHT #7 : Unfortunately no, he was the first to fall at the hands of Draco… ( with a sad voice, the nuns and midwife gasp in shock and look at Martha to see her reaction )

MARTHA : Oh… so he won’t be able to lay his eyes on his seed, I guess I’m at fault for sending him out so harshly, anyways there’s no use in crying now… ( she grabs the sheets and holds it tightly has tears roll down her cheeks) 

MIDWIFE : Martha…

MARTHA : Rita can you do me a favor??... ( she raises her head up with a forced smile on her face) 

MIDWIFE ( RITA) : Yes of course, anything…. ( she walks towards the side of the bed and sits beside Martha after which she holds her hand) 

MARTHA : I need you to take my child and leave this place, unfortunately I can’t leave this place with him seeing that demons have broken the church’s defenses ,it won’t be long before they reach here, I will have to stay back so as to keep them busy at least for a little while… 

RITA : Martha…

MARTHA : Please just do this for me… I know that it’s too much of a responsibility but I know you are the best suited for the job, so please grant me this request 

RITA : Yes of course, I’ll take him with me but at least name him, as his mother you have that right….

The chaos inches closer has more explosions are heard as well as screams and cries, Martha looked lovingly at her child before she carries him in her arms, she smiles back has her baby smiles at her 

MARTHA : Even his smile is just like his father though I’m guessing if Elijah were here he would disagree and say he smiles like me, like a star he shines bright and so his name should reflect such a thing. of course, how about….Sirius

RITA : That’s a wonderful name… 

MARTHA :  at least even if I can’t give him the love of a father or mother neither could I bring him into a peaceful world, I’ll be able to give him a nice name ( more tears run down her cheeks)… now take him and leave this place before its too late… ( she hands her baby over to Rita wrapped in a blanket )

RITA : I’ll be leaving now, please don’t die…

MARTHA : I’ll try ( with a smile) 

Rita takes the child and leaves the room in haste accompanied by the nuns and holy knight, Martha squeezes the sheets a bit more before putting her head up 

MARTHA : I’m staying for my son’s safety and to avenge my husband, please give me strength…. 

Blood and fire bathe the church courtyard, demons walk the church grounds killing stragglers that had survived the first wave, Draco sits atop the church fence and watched has the legions march into the church. 

Demons barge into the chapel and set their eyes on Martha fully clothed wearing a leather suit kneeling at the pew, they all burst into laughter at the sight before them 

DEMON #6 : Oh my… even when you are about to die, you still pray to the Father, that is devotion right there ( with a cynical smile) 

MARTHA : I apologize for what is about to happen in your place of worship but it is necessary 

One of the demons creates a flaming spear and hurls it at Martha, she dodges the spear on instinct, she turns towards the demons that had entered into the chapel 

MARTHA : Kneel… ( in an otherworldly voice) 

All demons that had entered the chapel immediately fall to their knees has they hear Martha’s command 

MARTHA : Kill each other…. ( in an otherworldly voice )

The demons within the chapel immediately take up their weapons and begin to hack down on each other with utmost brutality, within a minute all demons that entered into the chapel are sprawled on the floor, dead at the hands of their comrades. Draco feels a strange vibe coming from the church and it peaks his curiosity, he fly’s down his pedestal and walks into the church building, when he gets in he is greeted with the sight of demons attacking themselves with no mercy, Martha is standing at the church altar with a nasty look on her face 

DRACO : My oh my, you must be the one they call “The Mouthpiece”, your power is quite feared even in hell… the awesome ability to control anyone and anything with words, that right there is amazing…..

MARTHA : Are you the one they call Draco??.... ( not minding what Draco was saying) 

DRACO : Well of course, at your service…. 

MARTHA : Good, I don’t have to look for you…. Stop ( in an otherworldly voice) 

The surviving demons inside the church immediately stopped fighting and looked at Martha, almost as though they were waiting for her command 

MARTHA : Kill Draco…..

The demons turn their attention to Draco standing at the entrance of the church building and immediately attack him with murderous intent, Draco smiles a bit before putting up his palm 

DRACO : I have no time for this… 

 a small dark ball crackling with life forms on his upraised palm and fires a concentrated beam at the incoming demons, wiping all of them out instantaneously

DRACO : Is that all you’ve got??... ( with a cynical smile) 

MARTHA : Kneel…. 

Draco bends down a little with his knees almost touching the ground, he struggles a bit before looking up at Martha with a dangerous grin 

DRACO : My, my… you really are something else, Being able to almost bring me to my knees… for such a glorious feat, you have my respect

MARTHA : I don’t need your acknowledgement, you killed my teammates and now I’ll make you pay 

DRACO :  Oh wow, such ferocity…. You really are a feisty one 

Draco begins to walk towards Martha, albeit slowly as Martha continued to let out commands to stop him from moving, he keeps moving forward causing Martha to flare up 

MARTHA : Enough of this… ( with frustration in her voice) 

DRACO : Your ability is quite powerful, I must say… giving out commands that telepathically break down all your enemies mental barriers to completely take over and order around as you please and the best part is that there is no limit, as long as your faith is strong your power continues to grow, that is the way it is for all you chosen guys, none of you actually have an upper limit which could be worrisome if trained and honed to perfection… but you see your ability has a flaw, as long as your opponent has a greater hold on his psyche, you would be unable to take complete control over his or her mind, so basically your power is a battle of wills between your opponent and you and with that understanding, several other limitations begin to show up and then your power is no longer so awesome is it??....  ( A wild grin across his humanoid face) 

MARTHA : Tch… you deducing my ability is not going to deter me from what I’ve planned for you 

DRACO : I would have it no other way…. ( coming to a halt at the middle of the church aisle) 

Martha takes out a sword from underneath the altar and begins to walk towards Draco 

DRACO : That’s it, come to me and face your final judgment 

MARTHA : I’ll kill you….. 

Martha begin to run towards Draco with a menacing look on her face, Draco forms another dark ball on his palm and sets it loose…..
