Tif sent the day as usual classes, lacquers and more classes. But unlike days before her mind kept going back to the scent. She knew it she was sure of it. Something from her past or someone. She had a foggy glimpse of a boy and a strong hand on her thin shoulder. “Someday Tiffany” she thinks it’s her father’s voice but it wasn’t his voice. This voice was deep harsh. Her father had a soft calming voice. Someday what? “Miss Alexander are you hear with us today?” Tif shakes her head and looks up from her hands that she had been holding in tight fists without even knowing she had been. “Oh um” she clears her throat “I’m sorry Mr. Brown I was ah lost in thought” she blushes and gives him a small shrug “Clearly you were.” He pushes his glasses up the bridge of his nose and continues “I was asking if you would like to give the answer to the question I have on the board.” Tif quickly reading the question gives her answer, then shrinks back down into her chair hoping she would not be asked to expand upon her answer, “And the reason for your conclusion is?” Clearly Mr.Brown was noting letting her off the hook for day dreaming in his class.
As she walked from her last class back her dorm her mind a thousand miles from this snow covered hell she watched the snow crunch under her shoe rather than where she was going. Her normally acute sense of her surroundings totally abandoned as she runs into a rock hard body, all but falling over a hand quickly reaches out grabbing her by the waist keeping her from falling. “Oh my god I’m… I’m so sorry” she blusters as she looks up into the smiling face of a tall man his almost white blue eyes meet her green eyes, a moments flash of another memory floods her mind, a boy white eyes, the word future alpha. She pushes herself away from him but as she does the scent, it’s him from earlier. “No I should be the one saying sorry, I stopped because I smelled something…” his voice was deep husky, almost a growl as he steps in closer again. She took a step back, she need space to get her head to clear. She but her hand up and waved him off. “No.. No. I wasn’t watching where I was going. I’m sorry” she felt so disoriented this wasn’t like her she needed to get away from him those eyes his over whelming delicious scent. She shook her head then put a hand to her forehead. “I’m sorry I have to go” She pushed past him with her head down, walking quickly away not looking back, she didn’t dare or else she would see him watching her and that was too much. She could feel his eyes on her, watching her leave. Seeing what form she would go to, she didn’t care away she needed to get away. Her mother’s voice in her head. Her last conversation with her mother before leaving for Montana. “Please Tif you could go any where why Montana?” Her mom had looked so sad “Mom it’s where I want to go. I want something new something totally different then here” Her mom had pouted her lip out and starting crying. “It’s just so far and you don’t know what it’s like. The… people they can be harsh to outsiders.” Tif had scoffed at her mother “Jesh mom you make it sound like it’s some hillbilly back water. It’s a college town with people from all over the world,” she mother had not eased up at all. “Just promise me if you meet anyone that seems out of place or strange you get away. Run away if you have too.” “Mom I’ll be so busy I doubt I’ll even have time to leave the campus, I gave myself a pretty heavy school schedule for the first two semesters. I won’t hardly have time to do anything but study.” Her mom breathed a soft sigh and only shook her head. “Even on campus please even if it’s just to put your mom’s mind at ease. Promise me.” Tif had put her forehead on her mother’s and pressed something she had done since she was little, and sighed to her mom. “I promise if anyone gives me the ick I will run away screaming if I have too.” She smiled at her mom and kissed her cheek. Now she was hugging herself walking so quickly she was almost running. She reached her dorm building and slipped inside, pressing herself against the wall beside the entrance and took a deep breath, closing her eyes. “What was that?” She asked to no one. Her heart was pounding but in the back of her mind a part of her was screaming to go back. Only she couldn’t hear it over the pounding of her heart. But soon enough that part of her mind would find its voice and she would not be able to stop it.Siron watched the girl rush away from him. Her scent so strong he could almost see the fresh lilacs and hear the bees making their warm golden honey. He had never noticed her before and wondered to whom she belonged. He watched as she rushed to enter one of the building and lean against the wall once she thought she would be out of sight. He smirked to himself, taking a deep breath in, tracking her smell marking her if he needed to follow her or find her again but for now he had other things and people to see. Pulling his phone from his pocket he scrolled through his contacts until he found the number he wanted. Hitting call he had to only wait two rings before the answer on the other end. “Yes sir?” Taking one last look at the girl he turned and starting walking “There is a new girl here on campus, I have never seen her before so she must be a freshman, in D building in the west dorm complex, she is short maybe 5’2” 5’3” at most red hair pale skin and green eyes.” Thinking back on
Tif didn’t know how long she stood leaning against the wall just breathing, remembering her mother’s words to her. “Hey you ok?” Tif opened her eyes and saw a girl with chestnut brown hair and brown eyes looking her dead in the eyes. “Oh uh yeah. I’m fine just had to clear my head… you know” the girl looked her up and down a slight frown on her round face. “You sure you’re ok? You were standing there for almost 10 minutes.” “10 minutes?” “Yeah I came in right after you, went to my room changed my clothes and came back down here and you haven’t moved at all.” “Wow I didn’t realize it had been that long.” Tif replied checking her phone for the time. It had really been closer to 20 minutes. She shook her head, sucked in a breath and blow it out slowly. The girl Tif didn’t know was still standing there staring at her. “I’m fine really, just a rough day with my classes is all.” The girl seemed to relax slightly at this and nodded shifting her weight from one foot to the other for
Tif shuffled down the hall to Mary’s room. The hall was quiet most of the door closed the girls inside either out for the night or asleep. Tif tilted her head to one side as she passed a door. ‘Wow she is a heavy sleeper’ she thought hearing the girl on the other side of the door breathing loudly. The door on the opposite side of the corridor slightly ajar Tif could hear the girl speaking to her roommate in a hushed voice about some guy she was going to bang soon. Tif only shook her head who had time for that? As she came to Mary’s door she lifted her hand to the door knob but paused as she heard Mary and Jillian talking giggling “Shut up she doesn’t know a thing.” Mary was saying “Well her pizza is going to be cold by the time she gets here and I’m pretty sure she figured it out. That’s way she took so long” “No way, she said she lost track of time.” Tif sighed she had never noticed how easy it was to hear through the doors. She gave a soft knock on the door turning the ha
He was sitting in an oversized leather chair scrolling the news on his phone when Silas come strolling in a thin file tucked under his arm and slight smirk playing across his clean shaven face. Siron didn’t even bother looking up to see his friend to know the look. “You can whip the shit eating grin off your face, what did you find out?” He asked as Silas dropped the file on the coffee table between them and seating himself on the matching leather couch. “Her name is Tiffany Miller 21, well 21 tomorrow, her home address is in San Diego. But funny enough she was born in Billing.” “Billings? Are you sure?” Sir asked as he lifted the file up opening it to the first page a photo from what must had been her school ID attached to it. It was most definitely the red head he had run into twice today. He quickly scanned the information then looked up at Silas. “Is she?” “If she is she has no pack affiliations that I could find. “ he pointed to the file. “But look at the name listed as the fat
Tif was not one for being up late but it was her birthday in just a few short hours and this evening she felt energized, like she could go all night. Someone had handed her a drink and she downed it like it was water and asked for another. That drink was gone in to swallows. In the tiny dorm room Tif had never felt so alive her whole body felt electrified and buzzing. She closed her eyes and swayed to the music playing. Mary put a hand on her shoulder “Tif are you ok?” She asked concern crossing her face her brows knotted together. “Yeah I’m great what artist is this music I’m loving it.” “What music?” “What music? The music you have playing this jazzy drumming stuff.” Mary placed her other hand on Tif and gave her a slight shake making her open her eyes. “Tif I don’t hear any music, and my god you are burning up!” Tif gave a huffing scoff and pulls herself free of Mary’s grip. “Burning up? I feel fine it’s probably all the damn cold outside making me feel warmer than I
Siron and Silas pulled up to the dorms just before midnight, parking in front of Tif’s building. “Are you sure you want to do this tonight? It’s almost midnight she is probably asleep or out not even here.” Silas offered as they stepped out of the car, the night so calm the sound of snow crunches under foot. The sound of Raga music was softly coming from down the block and a few cars slowly rolled down the mostly empty streets. Siron nodded looking up at the building. He felt a pull to her now. His wolf was passing in the back of his mind, something wasn’t right “She’s here.” He said her sent even stronger than before. “And we have to get to her.” He says as he started for the building a sense of urgency washing over him, his heart speeding as he moved to the doors. Silas sensing the change of mood in his friend hurried his pace as well. He didn’t even bother with the elevator seeing it moving and stopping on her floor he rushed to the stairs taking two or three at a time. Pushing
The air was crisp, Tif could see her breath as she breathed out. Shrugging her shoulders against the cold minus 3 degrees of a normal Montana January morning, she shivered just thinking of it. She looked up only four blocks from her dorms to the cafeteria but it felt like a mile. Who had told her Montana would be a good idea? She couldn’t remember now. Another shiver as she pulled her book bag up onto her shoulder and trudged along. Tif was not built for this kind of weather her thin frame had didn’t hold heat well. Even in the biggest fluffiest jacket she could find she felt the cold seep in. She had pulled her long red hair into bun and pulled the beanie over it and around her ears but she could still feel the freezing air around her neck and cheeks. If it wasn’t for the credits she was getting for the classes she was taking she would drop everything and rush back home to SoCal yesterday if she could have. But with the new semester only just started she would tough it out. She re
Siron had pushed through the door with hardly a look up from his phone. It had been a long but great night. The run in snow had invigorated him and he was ready for the day. Not even almost smashing into the bundle of clothes he assumed was a person and dimmed his mood, with a cheery clip to his word he shouted an apology and kept going. Looking back down at his phone he smirked to himself. Lila had sent him a very inviting text to her dorm room and he wasn’t about to turn down the chance to get a good release before class. He breathed in deep of the cold clean winter air and stopped dead in his tracks. He sniffed the air again turning slight back towards the dinning hall. A vey faint scent of lilacs and honey floated on the air. He took a step back in the detection of the cafeteria. Sniffed again the smell was fading fast in the fridge cold. He blinked and shook his head, he must have been mistaken some girl with a heavy perfume on. He stood for a moment longer before his phone vibr
