FREYAIt's been three week since I lodged into a hotel with my kids. While I had found two jobs that I work part-time in; one at a restaurant and one at that same hotel we stay in as a cleaner, finding an apartment to rent has been a different story all together. One of the reasons it has been hard is also because I have been extremely busy. Working and taking care of six kids was not an easy feat. Jiel had really been trying. Speaking of Jiel, we still have not spoken since I left Laura's house. Even though I didn't want to talk to her yet, I was beginning to get worried at her, no contact for a week now. Did something happen? Did Zain or Jacob get to her or what? Maybe I should call her this time when I get back to the hotel. I am at my shift at the restaurant where I work. I work at the hotel in the morning, my afternoons are free and mostly spent the day sleeping, being with the kids or watching a movie, and then, I work in the restaurant from evening time, and I stay on shift
FREYAI was standing at the curb, waiting for a cab to flag down when I heard my name being called. I looked around, but saw no one. I frowned. Did I mishear?Worse, it had sounded like Kate's voice. I was about to flag down an incoming cab, when a fancy car pulled to a stop in front of me. I frowned, taking a step back and then, another. The window of the car rolls down, and I squint into the car. A breathable laughter escapes my mouth the moment I recognized Kate and Jerry sitting at the back seat of the car. I had no idea they came to the restaurant with a car. I thought they strolled. " Don't just stand there, sweetheart," Kate said, her amusement obvious in her voice. " Get in, let's drop you off."I hesitated, but then realizing I had no lie that would be believable to tell them, I just got into the car. " Where to, Ma'am?" The driver asked. I bite my lower lip, not sure if I wanted Kate and Jerry to know I stay at a hotel. What would they think of me when they hear that?
FREYA I stand there frozen, knowing exactly what she was referring to. She was referring to my sleeping with Alexander, even though I knew that would jeopardize my children's future. "Congratulations, I guess," my voice is strained and I curse myself for choosing that part of me, my vulnerable side to anybody. " You guys should leave the table, please and find other tables in the restaurant. I could help you. "' Don't bother, we are going to another restaurant," Stella sneers. " This one right here, is too contaminated."My mouth drops open. Stella stops just a few inches from me as she passes me to leave. She leans in, whispering;" Good fuck, huh? How does it feel exchanging a good life for both you and your kids for a good fuck, huh?" She taunts. " Maybe I should also let you know that we get fuck every day. Xander practically wants me everyday; on the bed, on the floor, in the staircase, kitchen and even the bar! Crazy right?!"She smiles at me. " Too bad you missed out on all
FREYA I was feeling foggy, and it felt like the weight of the world is on my eyelid. I move my fingers, wondering why my eyes felt so heavy. After a few more attempts, I finally open my eyes albeit slowly only to shut it back immediately. It was too bright, way too bright for my eyes. Where was I? And why is it so bright?"Freya?"I frown. Who has that voice? It sounds familiar, but I can't seem to remember who the owner is, or where I knew them from. " She frowned! She moved the muscles of her face!"" Thank you, Lord! Get the doctor!"Their is a furry of movement. I could hear someone moving away from me, and then, the sound of a door opening and closing. The frown on my face deepens. A doctor? Am I at the hospital? What happened?A hand grabs mine, squeezing it. The familiar voice spoke again. " Don't worry, Freya, you are safe. You are okay."Hearing that causes me to relax. I could not yet place where I knew the vo
FREYA I could tell that something bad had happened. My subconscious could tell I was about to hear something that would change my life forever. Kate and Jerry's face said so. I shake my head. " I remember having plans to meet you guys at the restaurant I work at. But then, I stumbled across Alex and Stella, who said words that got to me," I pause, the events of that night slowly coming back to me. " I left because I couldn't take it anymore and I had my...."My eyes shot up at Kate, wide. " My kids! They were in the car with me!" I try to take quick breaths to calm myself, but I couldn't. "Where are they? Are they okay?".Kate and Jerry look at each other, and a cold shiver ran down my back. That look was not okay at all. Something had happened to my kids. I could feel the tears springing up into my eyes. " Please," I take Kate's hands. "Please, tell me they are okay. I already failed them a lot, I won't b
FREYA Freya Amelia Hamfeild. That is my identity now. . Yes, I agreed to be Kate and Jerry's adopted daughter, and my kids now had Hamfeild attached to their names. Everything I watch my kids live and enjoy a privileged life, my heart aches at the fact that Meena is not here. I was not the only one that missed Meena's bubbly personality, Chris did too. For months after her death, Chris had withdrawed to himself. A few nights, I had caught him crying in his bed, and when I asked, he told me that he missed Meena. I guess he loved her so much, despite them always bickering and going at each other's throat. Or maybe, that had been their way of showing each other love. We were all in a better place now. I had learned to look in the mirror, and I appreciate the beauty of my face. I no more had appointments with therapists, psychologists and doctors. I had learned the loops of the Hamfeild business and was being trained to take over when my parents finally decided to retire. Mom. Dad.
FREYAI alighted from the car in which Kate had drove me to the airport. Kate alighted from the car as well, and came to the back of the car where I was getting my suitcases. She reached for one of the suitcases, but I pulled it out of her reach. " I've got it, Mom," I gave her a warning look, knowing she would reach for it again. " Are you sure you can handle opening a branch over there all by yourself?" she asked for the umpteenth time. " At least take Jack with you, he's been with us for a long time. He will be quite helpful."I turn to Kate a frown on my face, and my arms folded across my chest. " You know, mom, at first, I thought you were just worried about me. But now..." I shake my head. " I'm beginning to think you just don't trust me at all," I accused. " Of course, I do, baby," she soothed. " I'm just worried. Things could get overwhelming."I place my hands on her shoulders. "Mom, I already have some people over there who would help in one thing or the other..." Mostly
FREYA" Ma'am, someone made a delivery to you," my personal assistance tells me as I walk into my office. I signal for her to wait a moment as I was on call. She nods, a big brown envelope in her hand. Once I was done with the call, I turn my attention to her, a smile on my face. " Yes, dear, what we're you saying?" I ask her. She drops the envelope on my table. " This was delivered this morning to you anonymously. The delivery man said its the information you paid for," she explains. My eyes widens. " Really?"She nods in reply and I reach for the brown envelope immediately. Finally. I was beginning to think that they couldn't get any information for me. The mafia are known for being very secretive, after all. They had all this businesses in place to cover their illegal acts. " Thank you, Sarah," I said in a dismissing tone. She got the message and left my voice. I tore the envelope open, and brought out the stuffs inside it. I scan one document after another, my eyes narrowing
Just like yesterday, being auctioned, being sold to the Lord of the devil himself.Humiliated, rejected and life triangle accompanied with it. The feeling of self winning a life for my children. I'm the the mother who never leave all odds for survival. I fought way beyond my imagination, especially for my children and now when I thought I'm happy and self contended with my new path of life.He returned. His back. That fateful day, I was on my way to the airport when someone shouted my name and ran towards me. It was Jaxton! His eyes still hold that dark man I ever known, his pride and ego spurring at his face but something was amiss. He smiled at me with mix of fears and anxiety. He rushed and hugged me tightly, never ready to let go of my grips. I do not know what that means but something is wrong somewhere."You still smell very nicely!" He whispered to my ear and it sent cold shivers down to my spines with little mix of sexual fantasies.I remembered the old days when he could fu
“We have to elope from this city.”Jaxton was standing by the window, his hands in the pockets of his pants, his back a little hunched. I like such sights of him standing by the window of our room like a guardian watching over the universe.“This city reminds me of nothing but pain and a lot of silly things. Things I’ve done and the one other have done to me. Wicked things done for the sake of influence and power.”He pulled a cigar to his lips. I didn’t see that coming. He was holding it in the crisp of the fingers of his right hand. He wouldn’t quit smoking for anything, even in his present condition.I walked over to the window side and hugged him from behind. My lips braced his neck from behind, and my hand wrapped around his waist. Yes, the city has a lot of odd memories, and I always wish I could ever in my life find way to flee from the glare of the city, but to think of his telling me he wishes to flee the city his cartel rules at the moment, is something my mind will never t
It's been a few days since we got back from Zain's crib. Days since Zain got arrested. Days since we sent in a mountain of evidence against him in Jaxton's name. Days since the IDP sent a message to summon Jaxton back. Days since Jaxton had remained unconscious. I have practically moved into Jaxton's safehouse. I have been the one taking care of him since he was brought back here in the pool of his own blood. I gently laid Jaxton on his bed, tucking the blankets around him to keep him warm. I took a damp cloth and began to wipe the dirt and sweat from his face, careful not to wake him. As I wiped away the grime, I could see the scratches and bruises on his skin, and my heart ached for him. I found a bandage and began to redress his wounds, taking care to be gentle and thorough. As I finished tending to Jaxton's wounds, I pulled up a chair and sat by his bedside, keeping a watchful eye on him. I could see his chest rising and falling slowly, his breath coming in a steady rhyth
" Undress," Zain ordered the moment we got to his room. I stand there just mopping at him. He glares at me, impatient. " Are you daft?" I turn my back to him. " I need help to get this off." He scoffed. " Don't bother." He drew me to himself and palmed my breast through the corset. He pulled it down with his strength and my breast sprang free from their constraints. I do my best to hide my disgust as he licks his lips in anticipation. He was just about to cover my left nipples with his mouth when we heard it; a gunshot. Zain steps back from me, a confused look on his face. " Stay right here," he told me, moving to the door of his room. I listen to see if he will lock it with key, but he must have been in a hurry because I don't hear the sound of the key turning in the key hole. In your dreams. The moment his footsteps recedes, I move to his wardrobe and grab the first hoodie that I can get my hands on. Picking up a pair of scissor, I do a good job of using it to get the
" Are you sure you want to do this, Freya?" Percy asked while still helping me get dressed. I was on my way to Zain's crib. I had a talk with Sarah after my talk with Jaxton, and it turns out that her brother had helped her escape but had not been able to do himself. According to her, he was most likely being held captive in the basement of the crib. She had drawn the blueprint of the house for me in Jaxton's absence, pleading with me to please save her brother. Jaxton had wanted to wait until the day of his auction, be had gotten information that Zain would be holding a auction soon; it turned out that it was even Zain that had suggested the auction to my dad. Sarah had panicked though when I told her that we plan to wait until the auction day to raid Zain's crib. She had said something along the line of her brother not making it until then. Since I know Jaxton would not be in support if I told him, I decided to do this without him. It was going to be a covert mission and I would
Jaxton shaked his head. " It's not as easy as that, Freya."He paused before continuing. " Getting to you wouldn't have been the top priority, Freya. They were really more concerned with getting those dogs arrested than setting your free. I... I.." He took a deep breath. He looked up and the vulnerability I saw in there had me taking a step back in shock. " I just wanted to get you away from those dogs, Freya, I swear."I could feel my eyes start to well up with tears. If that had been his intentions why had he become one of them? " Funny how you got me away from the dogs and became one yourself," I accused. If I thought he had looked vulnerable before, he looked worse right now. He looked broken and I could see the gulit and shame shining in his eyes brightly. I looked away determined not to let those eyes get to me. " You took exactly what you were trying to protect and in the worst way possible." My voice cracked and tears rolled down my cheeks, some trailing into my mouth. The
I froze. No matter how much I will my feet to move and turn around, it wouldn't obey. I knew why. Not only was there supposed to be no one else here, there is also the fact that I have just a towel wrapped around my chest. Worse, that voice was very familiar. I could guess who was standing behind me, and even though I had plans to talk to him later on, he was the last person I want to see right now. I force my feet to turn around and it finally opens. I turn around slowly, my eyes meeting with the golden brown orbs staring at me from the door of the kitchen. God! That gaze, I had forgotten how it felt to be it's target. I was mesmerized and at the same vein it felt like I was being undressed under it. I resist the urge to fold my arms across my body. It would look as if I was scared of him if I did that. I stand there as his eyes moves from my head all the way to my toes. I resist the urge to squirm under his astute gaze. His eyes moves away from me to look around the kitchen, and
My eyes narrows on the big Projector screen and then My driver gasps as he recognizes the face also. I glance at him and back at the screen. " Isn't that...?" He starts. "Yes, it is," I answer, interrupting him. Sandy moves to the edge of her seat. " Isn't that the coffee shop opposite Nutty's apartment?" She asked turning to Mr. Driver. He nods in agreement, his eyes also glued to the projector screen. " I knew it would have to be him," Brian chips in. " He must have realized that Nutty is poking around his business."" Does it mean that he was getting too close to the truth then?" Percy asked, glancing at me. " If he wasn't a undercover agent, I'm sure he wouldn't have mind as that would even be to his advantage. For him to want to silence Nutty, I think he might really be an undercover agent."My head was railing. I think I need another cup of coffee to be able to process this information. I stand from my seat and make my way to the refreshment table. I poured another cup of co
We had spent the whole of yesterday and the next gathering a lot of information. While Percy had been able to get us information on Zain, there were still some questions that I wanted answered. I think Sarah would be able to answer them. It was looking like she has been with Zain for a long while now, the information she has on that chip dates back to a long time ago, too. Sandy and my driver had spent the whole of the two days getting their hands on all of the CCTV cameras along the roads that leads to Nutty's apartment, and I have them in front of me right now, waiting to be attended to. They had gotten the dashcam, too but have been unable to get the cloth, apparently the police had done a good job of sweeping the apartment for evidence. According to Sandy and my driver, who I'm really impressed with by the way, there had been someone wanting for them at the apartment's garage. Apparently, whoever had taken Nutty, had used his car as bait to see who Nutty was working for. They
