"I'm asking you to share the information I wanted. Where is it?" Alpha Alex's tone got stronger, and he seemed upset.

It looked like his eyes were burning with anger as he spoke.

"We couldn't find anything, Alpha Alex. The place was clean, and there was nothing on the wolves," a gamma from the back explained.

"And you're telling me you couldn't find anything?" Alpha Alex stood up, circling the gammas who were standing straight.

"I'm sorry, Alpha, but there was no sign of a fight or any force. The wolves didn't have any wounds, and it seemed like they died naturally," another gamma said.

Alex's face turned red from anger. He was furious, and his eyes got darker.

"You can all leave," he declared, getting angrier.

"Alpha," another gamma tried to speak.

"Leave! Do you want me to punish you?" he threatened, making the gammas leave the room quickly.

"Everyone, leave," he ordered the guards in the room.

They all left, and he locked the doors, leaving only Hendrix allowed inside.

"Hendrix!" Alex shouted angrily. "You know I could blame the death of those ten wolves on you, right? You were supposed to protect every part of the forest, and you slacked with that.""I'm sorry, my Lord, but I'll make sure I do more findings and ensure the culprit is held accountable," Hendrix replied, bowing down."You better do, Hendrix. You're dismissed," Alex said, dismissing him. He stood up and walked out of the study to meet Mia by the door."Mia, what are you doing here? Are you not meant to be resting?" he asked, approaching her.Mia glanced at Hendrix, who was standing behind Alex. She noticed a small movement in his hands that stopped abruptly when she looked at him."I'm fine, Alex. I just woke up and came here when the guards told me Hendrix was here," she replied."Good day, my lady," Hendrix greeted Mia, bowing curtly and raising his head afterward."Good day, Hendrix," Mia replied, squinting her eyes at his shoes."My husband and I would like some private time alone,

"You'll figure it out later, Mia," Alex said, gently holding her hands as they walked back to the study.**Hours later**"I can't find anything in these documents, and the photos captured were too blurry for me to see if there's any kind of different clay," Mia said, her exhaustion evident."It's time to rest, Mia. We're in the middle of the night, and a day's search cannot possibly give us all the information we need," Alex remarked, closing the documents."But I don't feel at ease, Alex. I sense there's more to this incident than meets the eye," she added, expressing her unease."I understand, Mia. I'll keep a vigilant eye on him and ensure every move is reported to me," he reassured, consoling the tired Mia as she slumped into a chair."I'll carry you to the bedroom," he offered, preparing to lift her."I'll eat first, Alex. I'm very tired and exhausted, so I'll have a meal and a bath before sleep," she decided."I'll instruct a maid to bring food to your bedroom, and you can eat t

Mia sat back down, awaiting the presence of the other elders.Minutes later, they were all seated, and Alex stood up to address them."Good day, elders. I believe we all know the reason why we're here at this moment," Alex said, addressing the elders."We're here to find resolutions to the deaths of those wolves and a way to prevent another tragedy on the next red moon," he explained. The elders nodded in unison to his words."As the pack alpha, responsible for the safety of the wolves, we must question why these deaths happened under your watch," an elder spoke out."I assure you that substantial steps have been taken to stop the killings, but it's proven more challenging than anticipated," Alex responded."Are you suggesting, my Lord, that this murderer is outsmarting you?" a white-haired elder questioned."Let's be clear; these killings didn't start in my pack, and they didn't happen here first. You might as well accuse alphas in other packs where the deaths occurred of incompetenc

"That's mountain ash, my Lord. Even the sniff is enough to make a wolf fall unconscious. You were able to ward off the effects so quickly because of your resistance and power as an Alpha," the messenger explained."If this is used on an ordinary wolf, the result can already be known. They'll be out of their senses, like a total blackout," the messenger added."They'll be unconscious, which gives the enemy the upper hand against them, making them vulnerable," Alex said, gathering his disoriented thoughts. The messenger fell to the ground with a loud thud, bringing Alex back to reality."The effects of the mountain ash are powerful," he said to himself."Guards," he called out, "take him to a physician and make sure he's well treated.""Send another message to the woods and tell them I command to end the mission; this is enough to prevent another ten deaths," Alex said before turning to walk away to the bedroom. The doors were flung open as he walked to Mia, who was seated in bed with a

Alex grunted from the pain and stood up sluggishly. "Hendrix, I swear by my birth that I'll kill you even if it will take my life," Alex swore before picking up the sword beside him to fight.Hendrix smirked and walked closer to meet Alex, raising his sword at him, he made a move to stab Alex again but the latter shifted and dodged, cutting the sword through his back, he kicked Hendrix's steps back.Another group of cloaked men rushed to the duo, attacking Alex."Mia!" Alex exclaimed in his weakened state, his strength was failing him, and he made a move to escape them.He ran around in circles and stopped when he realised that he couldn't run out of the circle Hendrix had drawn around him."Hendrix, what have you done?!" Alex shouted, making more attempts to flee the circle to no avail."Alpha Alex, I'm sorry, but my pledged allegiance to you ended moments ago," Hendrix said to Alex."You're no longer, my Lord, and I'm not your subject. In the dim-lit chamber, Hendrix knelt before the caged Alex, his dark eyes resembling a bottomless pit."Hendrix," a voice echoed among the cloaked men."Are you certain he's fully transformed?" one of them asked mockingly. "Look at him, still breathing like a human, and the shackles on him. If he had turned into a demon, shouldn't he have broken the shackles?" he added, addressing the others.Nods of agreement circled the group, leaving Hendrix uncertain."Allow me to test his strength. We'll know if the demon's soul's water truly worked," proposed a cloaked man.Hendrix, rising from his knees, stepped aside, granting the cloaked man an opportunity."Alex, the demon," the man declared, dragging his sword along the ground."You're no longer an alpha; no need for this pretense," he taunted, entering the circle.A few paces, and the man halted before Alex, raising his sword to strike."Bannnnggs!"
