Taken

The man ignored my question, his eyes scanning the room as if searching for something. They landed on the knife block on the counter, and I felt a surge of fear as he strode forward. My heart pounded in my chest, and I backed up until I felt the coolness of the refrigerator against my spine.

Where was Soren? He'd been supposed to guard me, but there was no sign of the young warrior. Had this intruder hurt him?

The man stopped in front of me, his eyes drilling into mine, and I could see the madness within them clearly now. "Where are they?" he demanded, his voice rough and grated.

"Who?" I asked, my voice barely above a whisper, transfixed by his intense gaze.

"Don't play dumb, human," he snarled, his hands balling into fists at his sides. "The two alphas. Where are they?"

My eyes widened as the pieces clicked into place. This must be one of the rogues Xander and the others were fighting. But why was he here? And how had he gotten past the sentries?
