I looked up as Xander and Kane approached, their expressions serious and urgent. The sight of them, naked and powerful, should have been distracting, but the intensity in their eyes kept me focused. I set my coffee cup down, standing to face them.

"What's going on?" I asked, my voice steady despite the flutter of nerves in my stomach.

Xander stepped forward, his blue eyes piercing. "Vivi, there's been an incident. A nearby pack was attacked by poachers. We need to move you to our compound where you'll be safe."

I blinked, taken aback. "Move me? I can't just up and leave. I have a job to do here. I'm not some damsel in distress who needs protecting."

Xander's jaw tightened, a flash of frustration in his eyes. "Vivi, this is serious. These poachers are using silver bullets. They're targeting wolves, and they won't hesitate to hurt anyone who gets in their way."
