Tania, who was unaware of the fact that her pack had declared her wanted or that the pack she was approaching had a shocking secret waiting for her, traveled all night through the heavy rain so she could get to her destination as soon as possible, but despite her speed, she only arrived at the Wild Willows pack the next afternoon.
By the time she arrived at the border, she had been driving for more than twenty hours, was exhausted from all the driving, and had a temper and it didn’t take long for the patrols to know that. However, they still kept calm knowing she was a pack wolf, not a rogue.
“Ma’am, you have to calm down and identify yourself and the purpose of your visit. No matter how mad you are, we can’t allow you into the pack if you do not do that.”
“Didn’t I just do that? I said I am the Alpha’s mate. Didn’t you hear me the first time?” Tania asked with irritation while the patrol guard took a good look at her.
She had pink hair, or was it a wig? He wasn’t even sure, her nails were excessively long, her fake eyelashes were shaped like butterfly wings and she called herself the Alpha’s mate? Even if the Alpha was mated, they were sure it would not be a woman like her.
Their Alpha was a good man who was gentle and protective of his pack, a woman like this, was not one who would arouse his attention at all.
The man put on a patient smile, “Ma’am I am so sorry, but our Alpha is not mated yet.”
“Then you go inform him that his mate is here!”
“Miss…,” The patrol guard took a deep breath, trying to control his temper, “We can’t just inform the Alpha about strangers. If you do not know who you’ve come here to see, I think you should leave.”
“So you want me to leave without informing your leader?”
“Ma’am you’re the one who refused to cooperate.” The patrol guard told her with a strained smile.
“Well then, I wonder how your Alpha would react when he finds that his alliance mate was turned back at the border. I will go back to my pack immediately.” Tania said and reignited the car.
The guard panicked immediately and stopped her, “Hold on, ma’am. Did you say you are the alliance mate?”
“Does it matter what I say, you won’t even believe it,” Tania replied with a mocking smile. She knew he had heard of her, and immediately took pleasure in making things hard for him.
The patrol guard swallowed and glanced at his colleagues who were watching from afar and were no doubt listening to every one of their conversations. He had heard that the Alpha had been granted an alliance mate, in fact, everyone in the pack had heard of it but no one took it seriously.
To them, their Alpha’s mate was only the one accepted and acknowledged by the Alpha. It didn’t matter who was allied to him as his mate, the person meant nothing to them, but that didn’t mean they would mistreat such a woman.
“I am sorry for my actions, ma’am I would contact the Alpha immediately.”
“Good, hurry up then,” Tania replied and the guard hurried away.
Tania wondered why he had to go somewhere else to mind link his Alpha, but soon she found the answer to that question when the patrol guard returned with another man.
He was tall, muscular, and tanned due to thorough training under the sun. Tania had also noticed this pattern in the patrol guards too, the men of the Wild Willows pack were very tanned which meant they trained a lot and this pleased her and made her even more interested in meeting the Alpha.
The man paused the moment he saw her, stunned, and for a few seconds, he didn’t know what to do. His facial expression seemed to say a lot, but in the end, Tania didn’t understand any of it and was impatient.
“And you are?” She asked. She knew he was a pack leader from his aura, but she was not sure which of them he was.
“Ah, sorry, I am the pack’s gamma, Connor.” Connor introduced himself very respectfully which surprised the patrol guard.
Other than the fact that this woman was an alliance mate, was she related to an important person? He wondered as he took a thorough glance at Tania who had opened the door by now and was stepping out. The moment she stood, the men were surprised at the length of her heels which brought her to the same height as they.
Her leopard print mini dress was so short she dared not bend, and her long legs... all the men looked away with tacit understanding, a faint blush appearing on their faces.
But the patrol guard couldn't help but notice that other than her sexiness, there was nothing special about this woman, she didn’t even have the breath of an Alpha’s daughter or a leader’s daughter. She was very ordinary. But still, the gamma assumed a submissive posture, why?
The guard glanced at Connor and frowned, wondering what exactly he was missing. At this moment, Tania, who didn’t know what he was thinking, spoke up.
“So I assume you should be the one leading me into the pack?” She asked. She noticed this man's unusual submissiveness, but she didn’t really care or read too much meaning to it.
“Yes…”
Before Connor could finish speaking, the key to the car was thrown at him, Tania immediately turned and got into the back seat. Ignoring the surprised men.
Connor soon came to his senses, picked up the key that had fallen to the ground, and got into the car while ordering the guard to return to his post. He drove towards the pack while stealing glances at the woman who sat silently staring out the window.
If he said he wasn’t shocked, he was lying. He didn’t know what was wrong with him or what came over him the moment he saw her, but he had a guess. He had a feeling as to why he was submissive. He knew it was his duty, but he never imagined she would be someone like this.
Why did she have to be someone like this? Why did he have a feeling the peace of this pack was going to be a thing of the past with her here?
He sighed, and immediately opened the link, issuing orders and informing Justin and Cod of her arrival. He spoke with Justin and Cod for some minutes while stealing glances at Tania.
Tania felt his constant gaze on the ride to the pack but she ignored him, instead, she was more focused on this pack and she must say, the pack really lived up to his name. The pack was surrounded by thick willow forest that most likely gave one the creeps at night and the small town that made up the pack was located deep within this willow forest, it was a thirty minute ride from the border.
Even as they drove down the tarred road, they occasionally saw patrol vehicles, and she saw a glimpse of patrol wolves watching them for the canopy of the forest which impressed her. The security of the pack, in her own opinion, was superb, they were alert and up to task.
The small town looked pretty good, with a tarred road and brick houses on each side, the pack members were living a pretty normal and harmonious life which she had come to associate with packs but did not appreciate. It didn’t take long before she arrived at the Alpha’s mansion where a group of women dressed in maid uniforms were lined up waiting for them.
Directly opposite the mansion was the vast expanse of land where she saw people training and realized it was the pack's training ground. She felt surprised at this, while most packs had their training grounds in a secluded area, this pack had it right in front of the Alpha’s home, what were they trying to say? She wondered with a raised brow.
At this time the car came to a stop and Connor alighted from the vehicle, walked to her side of the car, and opened the door for her. Tania did not care for his curtsy at all and immediately alighted, the moment she did, the women were shocked. Even Connor couldn’t help but blush again before looking away.
Tania’s long, fair, and toned sexy legs were the first thing that was exposed to the maids who immediately shared a surprised glance, the moment she stepped out and they had a full view of her look, they were shocked.
Was this the alliance mate? Their new Luna? They all wondered but pushed their wonder aside when their leader signaled them.
“Welcome to Wild Willows pack, miss.” Seven maids who had lined up in front of the house greeted her in unison, surprising Tania a bit.
So was this a show of discipline and courtesy, because if they were to talk about courtesy she would ask where the Alpha was. He was the one who wasn’t man enough to await or find his true mate, he wasn’t man enough to choose one from his pack and had her come here as an alliance mate. She’s here now and he didn’t even come to welcome her.
What a disrespectful spoiled man.
Tania thought and snorted, in fact, this disrespectful action of his made her glad. Since she arrived at this pack, she had been very unhappy. A lot of things here were just right and to her liken so much that she feared she wouldn’t want to leave. Seeing the Alpha act disrespectfully made her very glad, in fact, it would be better if he was very disrespectful and arrogant in person so she could leave here sooner. After all, which strong Alpha wouldn’t be proud and arrogant.
She was very pleased.
However, hearing her snort in response to their greeting surprised the maids and even Connor, they expected her to smile and respond when they greeted her even if she did it in pretense, but instead, she snorted. They shared a glance and swallowed. It was not hard to see that she would be a difficult person to serve.
“My things are in the car, take them to my room and be careful with them,” Tania ordered arrogantly, stunning Connor and the maids further.
No one knew how excited Tania was at this moment and how eager she was to talk some sense into their Alpha, so she didn’t even notice their shock as she turned to Connor, “It’s funny how your Alpha doesn’t even understand the simple meaning of courtesy. So you are the one to lead me into the mansion when I am his guest?”
“I..." Connor was a little speechless, "I am sorry if our action offended you miss…”
“Tania, my name is Tania.”
“Yes, Miss Tania. The Alpha is not feeling very well and cannot come to escort you into the mansion.”
“So I have to go see him on his sick bed?”
“What? No, Miss Tania, he’s waiting for you in the living room.” Connor answered with a frown, what was wrong with him it wasn’t just him who was submissive to this woman, it was his wolf.
Damn it.
She didn’t even care about the Alpha or didn’t she hear what he just said? What kind of a woman was this? How was he supposed to protect someone like this? How was he supposed to serve a woman like this?
How was Justin supposed to deal with a mate like this?
Yes, she was Justin’s mate and not just any mate. His true mate!
The Wild Willows was a very superstitious pack with many traditions, just as only he who had the Alpha’s blood could be Alpha, the Gamma was sworn to protect the Alpha’s true mate with his life. From the moment he is sworn in as the gamma, his wolf is enabled to detect the Alpha’s true mate and he shows utmost loyalty and submits to her, no matter who she is. Other than the pack leaders, very few people knew of this but this sign has also been a second proof that shows that a woman was the Alpha’s true mate. But now, he was not just the Alpha’s Gamma but also his best friend. He grew up with Justin and fought alongside him since he was a child, if Justin had not been feeling guilty towards his brother, he would have been his beta, now he had to bow to this woman. This was hard for him, but his body obeyed like he was a robot and his mouth spoke to her respectfully as if he was her right-hand man. This action of his, also successfully surprised the maids who were supposed to be movin
“Yes, Miss Tania.”Connor replied with humility which surprised everyone except Justin, who already knew why, and Tania, who didn’t really mind.Justin finally understood why Connor had no comment about Tania, after all, who was he to judge or give an opinion concerning his true Luna? He looked at the woman who had her eyes on Cod now, thoroughly scrutinizing him, and sighed. He could guess what she was thinking, she probably thought Cod was the Alpha and that was why she ignored him, even though that made him unhappy, he couldn’t help but wonder how she would take it when she knew it was him.As for the other three, they were busy wondering when Connor became so obedient, especially Aubrey who had never been liked by Connor. Since she wanted to win Justin’s heart, she had done all she could to walk into his life, including getting the favor of his best buddy Connor but failed miserably, now, Connor was being respectful to a lowly alliance mate who was dressed like a clown. Why? Sh
“You shouldn’t have bothered trying to get an alliance mate when you already had a woman warming your bed,” Tania said with an ugly smile on her face as she stared at Justin.“There’s no such relationship between us.” Justin defended as he walked to the nearest seat and sat down, probably to show her that he could walk on his own but Tania scoffed in anger, she obviously didn’t believe him neither did she care for his seemingly little achievement. It was hard to understand, was it that the goddess had a sense of humor or Justin was just too pitiful? He was mated to a woman who despised him at first sight. It was too painful. Connor thought and sighed.“Why don’t I take you to your room Miss Tania?” Connor chirped in, wanting to solve the tension in the air.“There’s no need for that. I’m leaving.” Tania said, her eyes not leaving Justin’s. “I am going to reject him right now and walk away from this pack.”Justin had a self-deprecating smile the moment he heard her words. He expected n
Kaley immediately turned to Justin, “Justin, what are we going to do? How can we be so unlucky as to get a woman like that?”Justin shot her a glare and she took a step back, even though Justin was sickly and hardly gave orders anymore, the weight of his glare was still there and it was enough to scare Kaley into watching her words. She softened her tone immediately, “I know that she’s your true mate, but still, are you considering having a relationship with her? Look at her, she hates you!”“Enough Kaley, I’m going back to my room to rest,” Justin said and approached the wheelchair, he was exhausted and knew any decision to walk upstairs at this moment was a bad idea.“Let me help you.” Aubrey immediately rushed to stand behind him and pushed the wheel for him.“Thank you,” Justin said calmly.Unconsciously breathing a sigh of relief, Aubrey noticed. For the first time, Justin was not cautious of her, in fact, she had never seen him this relaxed with her. Did this mean seeing his mat
“Miss Tania, why are you here?” Justin asked with a frown when he saw Tania barge into his room, but she ignored him and instead looked around the room with interest.“Miss Tania, you shouldn’t be here, the Alpha is tired and needs to rest,” Aubrey spoke up angrily. She didn’t understand what this woman was here to do, shouldn’t she be fuming with anger somewhere?“Since when were you his mouthpiece?” Tania asked, glancing at her before resuming her inspection around the room, touching things and looking around as if the place was hers.“I am the Alpha’s nurse and I understand the needs of my patient more than anything. Please Miss Tania, you need to leave.”“I don’t think you have a right to tell me that,” Tania said again as she stood in the middle of the room staring at Aubrey as if she was a jumping clown, her every word angering Aubrey who was trying to maintain the persona of a calm person. The only problem was no one could remain calm around Tania unless she decided not to prov
“What?! You can’t do that!” Aubrey was the one who spoke this time.“Why not? I don’t like climbing so high, it’s too much stress, I want to live on the first floor and since we are mated…,” Tania allowed her fingers to trail along Justin’s shoulders as she spoke, “…Justin will naturally stay with me. Right, Justin?” She turned to Justin, who frowned but didn’t reply.“Tania, the Alpha can’t stay on the first floor. He has to be kept in the safest and most protected room in the mansion” Aubrey told her in anger, throwing away honorifics at this point.Tania scoffed at her words, “Why do you make him seem like some rare treasure? He is the Alpha, who would be taking care of the pack if he’s hidden here? Who even made this rule? There isn’t a single guard stationed in the mansion, so what makes the 'fourth floor' so safe? The stairs?!” She looked from Aubrey to Connor who also had a disagreeable frown on his face, but neither answered the question.“Never mind, don’t answer that, I don’
“Aubrey? What’s wrong with you?” Cod asked the moment Aubrey walked into the Alpha’s office with tears running down her eyes.“What is wrong? How can you ask me that Cod? Was this what you’ve always wanted? Was this how you wanted things to be? Did you hate me so much? I thought you were on my side. I thought you wanted Justin to be with me!”“Of course I do! You know that I want that more than anyone else.” The confused Cod told her.“That’s not true! Because if it were true that bitch wouldn’t be upstairs right now! I did everything you asked, so tell me, explain to me why you would treat me like this!”Cod stood to his feet and approached, “Aubrey, you need to calm down, I don’t understand what you are talking about, why you are mad, or who made you cry, but I promise you, that woman means nothing to Justin and this pack. She’s just a figurehead, Justin is yours and you are the rightful Luna of this pack.” He coaxed her as he rested his arms on her shoulders intimately. But Aubrey
Tania spent over thirty minutes in the bathroom, and by the time she was out, Justin was nowhere in sight. She looked around the gloomy room and sighed, the haughty look on her face disappearing. She walked to the bed and sat on it after ensuring the door was locked. What was she supposed to do here? She wondered. Then her eyes fell on the door to the walk-in closet which was left slightly ajar, she stood up and went in only to see that Justin’s clothes on the right side had been vacated and squeezed on the left side while the space now contained her clothes, obviously the maids had been here while she was still in the shower.Seeing this, she chose simple cargo pants with a crop top and had her makeup done exquisitely before heading downstairs for lunch. Lunch was a simple ham sausage bean soup and a large jug of orange juice for beverage. There was also a maid there who was ready to attend to her every need and all the other house members were nowhere in sight, which pleased her v
“Do you like him?”Tania threw back and Lydia sighed, this Luna, was really hard to communicate with, she was so defensive against her and didn’t seem to like her at all or maybe it was their pack she didn’t like. But with her determination and strong will, if she could be won over by the Alpha, she would be his strongest support in the pack. Don’t go around thinking Wild Willows was some peaceful pack with peace-loving people. The whole pack was split into two factions, those who were loyal to Justin to the bones and those who now saw Cod as their new Alpha believing Justin’s era was gone.In the first three years, Justin’s faction was so strong that they made sure he still sat on the seat of Alpha despite his lack of interest but after so long, with Justin, who was ignorant of all the underground activities of the pack, unknowingly allocating more power to Cod, Cod had won over more than half of the those still loyal to Justin. The reason why Cod had not been crowned Alpha was bec
Cod stared at Justin, unhappiness etching his brow, could it be that Justin had fallen for that woman?“But you know this is dangerous, yeah? She is like a ticking time bomb,” At least for him, that woman was, “…I don’t think she would stay in the pack for long. Now that you are depending on her for your health, what would you do when she suddenly leaves?” Cod words sounded like concern but somehow his tone sounded like he was mocking Justin.“Like I said, before, if she wants to leave, I would let her. After all, I have become used to being ill… I just hope she gives me a chance to get to know her.” Justin murmured the last part, but Cod heard anyway and he was surprised.“You like her already? You just met yesterday and if I remember correctly, you didn’t seem to like her very much.”Justin laughed a little not wanting to say he had fallen in with her sleeping face and wanted to see it every day, “I guess the mate bond is fickle like that.”“Really? When I saw your actions yesterday
Tania ate her breakfast with great satisfaction while ignoring Justin who stared at her through the breakfast but hadn’t said a single word. He didn’t know what to make of this woman, he didn’t understand her at all.The best thing was to stay away from people as unpredictable as her and yet here he was, sitting and not leaving, well he knew there was nowhere to go, as he could not climb up the stairs without the help of a wheelchair or the strain would be too much on his heart. But he could not ask Aubrey for help either, seeing the way Tania treated her and he didn’t fight for her, nor could he ask the maids, because... well, it was just so embarrassing. He still had some pride to protect after all.Tania’s indifference to him however was unsettling, just some minute ago she had given him attention, not a good one but it was attention nonetheless, now, she acted as if he was invisible. What was her deal?At this time, Tania dropped her cutlery, wiped her lips, and stood up, “Where ar
Justin declared his sovereignty over Tania as her mate for the first time and damn, it felt good, but a part of him was confused, he didn’t understand what this woman’s deal was. Yesterday, he saw the anger in Connor’s eyes when she bit his lips and threatened him to agree to her staying here. He had to admit, he felt angry and threatened. He was even sure everyone now labeled her the number one person they had to protect him from, but seeing that this woman didn’t even want to stay with him anymore made him feel a sense of crisis. Why?He couldn’t possibly like her, right?“Don’t flatter yourself Alpha,” Tania's voice resounded in his ears as if in response to his question, “…a weak man like you also thinks he has the right to claim possession of a mate? Didn’t you hear that your heart is weak?” Tania smiled wickedly, “Or shall I remind you?”Justin felt happy and eager almost immediately, when he noticed his eagerness, he was stunned. What was wrong with him, was he masochistic? He
“Justin?” She was shocked and the man who had a head full of bed hair was equally embarrassed when he saw her, he had also woken up early to ensure he took his bath and got dressed before Tania woke up.“I mean, sorry, Alpha. Why are you coming from that room?” Aubrey asked wide eyes, hoping it was what she thought.“Oh, I spent the night here,” Justin said casually before hurrying back to his room, leaving Aubrey stunned. He did what…? He slept there? He didn’t sleep with Tania? He didn’t… A smile broke up on her face. Of course, how could the man she had been chasing for more than five years and couldn’t win, suddenly fall at the feet of some rude woman because she claimed she was his mate. She should have known, she should have trusted her precious Justin. She giggled then paused, come to think of it, he immediately told her why he was there, was it to explain to her that he didn’t sleep with Tania? Was it to make it so she wouldn’t misunderstand? She felt like screaming for jo
