The Imperial Ball was finally over and the guests had been leaving since morning. All the servants had been tasked with either cleaning up the guest rooms- changing the bedsheets, cleaning the bathrooms and such, or helping the guests load their luggages into their cars. I had been tasked with cleaning the bathrooms. Yeah, it's as fun as it sounds, which is not at all. I had been at it for at least four hours when I realised it was finally time for lunch. With an excited grin, I made my way towards the kitchen, ready to take food to Alpha Evan's room. I was hoping that he would finally tell me what the plan of action was, let me in how he was going to take me with him. I mean, it was me he was taking with him, so I obviously had to be let in on the plan for it to work successfully, right? And if he was going to do it today like he had told me he would, then now was as good a time as any to tell me everything. "What are you doing here?" Michel asked as soon as I entered the kitchen
I watched silently, tears streaming down my face as the small room I had called home burnt to ashes right in front of me. But it wasn't the site of the burning room which was making me cry, no. It was the sight of Miss Lillian and Raymond crying like anything right in front of it that was making my heart feel like it was being ripped out of my chest slowly and painfully. They thought that I had died. They couldn't see me because of a magical spell Alpha Evan had put on me but I could see and hear everything just fine. It was late at night when I finally made it to my room, exhausted to the bone after the day's work when I noticed Alpha Evan sitting on my bed as if he owned the place. For a moment, I'd thought that my tired mind was playing tricks on me. Because he had already left, hadn't he? How could he be there? But even after I blinked several times and rubbed at my eyes to clear them, he was still there, looking amused as ever as he stared at me. "What the hell?" I'd finally
"Pick whatever you want to," Alpha Evan told me, paying no heed to all the people in the shop who kept staring at us as if we were some sort of a celebrity couple. It was later that evening and Alpha Evan had taken me to a mall of sorts. There were shops of all kinds ranging from clothing stores, shoe stores to places you could pick groceries, toys and even jewelry from all on the two floors I could see. I nodded at him, feeling extremely self conscious as people around us stopped and stared. It was almost as if a pariah had come in, some sort of exotic creature they had never laid their eyes on and were seeing in the flesh for the first time even though it was only their Alpha who had come in. Alpha Evan walked behind me as I made my way towards the racks where sweatpants and sweatshirts were hung. The people in the aisle disappeared as soon as they saw him. Utterly confused as to why everyone was acting like that, I turned to him, my brows furrowed. "Why is everyone looking at y
The next morning when I woke up, bright sunlight was streaming in through the cracks in the floor to ceiling windows while the sunroof on the ceiling was closed. Alpha Evan was missing from the room as well. I briefly wondered what time it was as I got up and made my way to the bathroom to freshen up. Once I was done, I made my way downstairs, looking for Alpha Evan. I found him sitting on the kitchen island, looking freshly showered, dressed casually in an off white v-neck and dark wash jeans and reading some important looking papers. I briefly wondered how someone could make something so casual look so utterly sexy. Before I could dwell on it much, though, he spoke up, "So sleeping beauty is finally up.""Sleeping beauty, huh? Whatever happened to kitten?" I asked, strolling closer to him. "My kitten was taking way too long of a nap so she's been promoted to sleeping beauty now," he muttered dryly, still not taking his eyes off of whatever it was that he was reading."What time
"Do you have to be so stubborn about it?" I muttered, as I stood behind a seated Alpha Evan with scissors in my hand. "I can do it myself," he muttered moodily, his lips curving into an adorable pout, making him look like a four year old. I couldn't help but chuckle. "Yeah, right. Which is why it's all wayward at the back, isn't it?" It was later that evening when I'd woken up from a nap, only to find Alpha Evan standing in front of the floor length mirror in his room and attempting to cut his own hair. He had done a pretty decent job at the front but the back looked horrendous, so much so that the sight had made me laugh, bringing his attention to a now awake me. He had simply scowled in reply before continuing to cut his hair at the back without seeing what he was doing. That was when I'd practically pushed him on to a chair and forced him to let me cut his hair for him. I'd done it plenty of times for Raymond and was good at it if I did say so myself. He huffed, the tips of his
Alpha Evan seemed much calmer when he came back exactly half an hour later like he had promised he would. Feeling too jittery, I'd ended up whipping out a quick dessert which consisted of chocolate covered strawberries. Just as I placed the plate full of the strawberries into the refrigerator, he walked into kitchen. That was also when the exact moment the timer of the oven went off. Wordlessly, he wore a pair of oven mitts and took the dish out of the oven. "Smells good," he muttered, more to himself than me, seemingly much more relaxed now. "It does," I agreed, inhaling the aroma of freshly melted cheese and other herbs. I watched as a small, almost proud smile graced his lips before he grabbed two plates and plated the food for us. I grabbed two spoons and glasses while he did that and together we carried it all to the small dining table in the living room. Like a true gentleman, he pulled the chair out for me, pushing it in once I was seated and taking his own seat next to me
"You think you're ready for it?" Alpha Evan asked. "I'm not sure. I'm... I'm scared," I admitted honestly, letting out a breath. The last time I had tried this was years ago, and I had ended up writhing in pain halfway through before giving up entirely. It was early morning the next day and apparently, Alpha Evan thought that it was the perfect time to help me shift into my wolf form. Much as I wanted to postpone the entire thing, I was also eager to get it over and done with. I had a feeling I wouldn't be able to do it but Alpha Evan's presence and help was making me hopeful. And hope was a dangerous thing to have. "It's okay to be scared, kitten. Your past experiences haven't been pleasant from what you've told me so it's normal to feel this way, I suppose," Alpha Evan said, his voice soothing and calm. That coupled with all the greenery surrounding us in the large field close to Alpha Evan's house helped take the edge off, but I was still wary and nervous about what would happen
