The doctor after examining Alex wrote a prescription of medicines for him. He handed it to Anastasia and said, "These pain killers will be given twice a day for three days after meals."
Anastasia listened to him and asked, "Doctor, how long will it take to heal the wound?"
"More than two-three weeks," replied the doctor. Anastasia nodded and thanked him. Butler Antonio Ferro showed the way out to the doctor, closing the door behind him.
"I need to bring these medicines," Ana informed him as she looked at the prescription.
"Give it to me," Alex demanded the prescription slip, which she handed to him. Alex took out the phone from the pocket and called Stavros. "Come to the room," he hung up and put the phone aside. He also took out Anastasia's p
"He hates me because I did not answer the call that day," Anastasia murmured and put her palms on her eyes. "He doesn't hate you. He likes you, Ana. It's because you did not answer the call that day. That's why he is angry. Alex's parents rarely lived with him in the past because of the business. He lived alone in this big house. When he met Hamish, he found a sibling in him and his death broke Alex," Stavors briefed her. "Alex never got close to any woman. He was supposed to marry Rose, but he avoids her the most. He hates women because his mother never cared for him. However, with you it's different. Don't take his words to your heart," Stavors advised her. Anastasia had stopped crying and then wiped her cheeks. At that moment, Stavors' phone started to ring. He answered it. "What? An accident
"I don't know. Anastasia is not in a good state. So, come here quickly," Stavros advised Alex, who hummed. "Are you good? Well, if you are feeling weak, then let it be. I will handle everything," Stavros suggested to him. "Cancel the afternoon's meeting and shift it to tomorrow. I am coming to the hospital," Alex answered and hung up the call. He put the phone on the bed and ran his fingers in his hair. He got down from the bed and went to the walk-in closet to change. After he got dressed, he left for the hospital. Rose stopped him as he crossed the living hall. "Where are you heading to?" She questioned him. "None of your business," Alex answered and walked out of the house. He told the driver to take him to the hospital.
Alex and Stavros went to the mortuary to see the corpse of Lucas. The doctor came to him and said, "Mr. Adamos, if you want then you can go for organ donation." "His family is coming. They will decide. I am his son-in-law, so I cannot say anything on this," Alex replied. The doctor nodded his head and pushed down the white sheet from the face of Lucas. Alex saw that Lucas' head was severely injured. He recalled the day when Lucas conversed with him for a shorter span of time. 'Take care of my daughter,' these words of Lucas revolved in Alex's mind. He stepped forward and grasped the hand of Lucas. 'Don't worry about your daughter. I will keep her happy. I will give her everything that she deserves,' Alex promised to Lucas in his mind.
The burial ceremony for Lucas was performed in the evening. Alex had bought the land for his father-in-law, where he could rest in peace. Many people came to give their prayers and condolences to the Spanos family. Even Alex's parents came when he informed them. Soon, the people left, however, Anastasia and Alex stayed behind. Katherine had to leave because of urgent work. She told Alex to keep informing her. The sky started to turn dark and it thundered. The clouds had gathered in the sky. "Let's go back," Alex told Anastasia, since rain was going to pour soon. But Anastasia did not answer him. Like a lifeless body, she blankly stared at the grave of his father. Tears were streaming down her cheek. Suddenly the rain started to pour. "Ana, let's go back," Alex again urged her. His tone was soft.
The maid knocked at the door. "Come in!" Alex told her. "Give it to me." He stood up and took the tray from him. The maid walked out, closing the door behind her. Alex put the tray on the mattress. He then pulled Anastasia up such that her head rested on his lap. Stirring the soup, he picked it in the spoon and blew air over it. He opened Ana's mouth and made her drink the soup. After fifteen minutes, the soup finished and he put the spoon on the tray. He had already taken out the medicine and pushed it inside Anastasia's mouth. Making her drink the water, he caressed her back. Alex stood up from the bed and put the tray on the sofa table. He then thought to give a towel bath to Anastasia as it would relieve her and the temperature would also come down quickly. Bringing the lukewarm water in a b
"I do not know. It's up to you. Ask yourself if you trust me or not," stated Alex. Anastasia hummed and withdrew from the hug. She wiped her eyes and cheeks too. "It feels like I am still in a bad dream that I was not supposed to," Anastasia said while sighing. "Stay in bed and take plenty of rest. At the present moment, you can only do this," asserted Alex. He brought his palm to her forehead. "Last night, you were burning with a fever." Ana looked at her clothes and found she was wearing completely different clothes from the one she had put on yesterday. "Whose clothes are these?" Ana asked Alex, who passed a tiny smile to her. "Mine," he replied. "Did you change my clothes?" She questione
"Fine. Let's divorce and pay the debts through transfer. Don't ever show me your face," Alex affirmed and picked his phone from the bedside table. He dialed Stavros' number, who answered the call in a few rings. "Prepare the divorce papers for Anastasia and me," Alex hung up the call and turned to look at her. "You can go back to Stephen!" Alex stated. Anastasia did not meet his gaze. "You don't need to tell me," she asserted. "You bought the land for my father's burial ceremony. How much did that cost? I will pay you," Anastasia asked him. Alex chuckled because now, she was turning meaner. "That's what I wanted to do. I won't accept that money," Alex affirmed. "You should worry about the rest of the debt which is much higher,"
***** Ch Anastasia called Stavros and asked him if she could sign the divorce papers earlier than the decided time. "Why?" Stavros asked the reason for it. "I don't want to see his face," Anastasia replied. "We both agreed for this divorce, so there should not be any problem if I sign earlier," she opined. "It is a legal procedure. Both parties will be seated in front of each other," Stavros answered. "Also, I would like to say something to you," he said. "Hmm?" "He likes you, Anastasia
