How many days passed since her arrival here? She wondered, watching the four moons rise again. A month? Two? The other world, Earth, seemed to fade from her memory the longer she spent here. Yet, she still was no closer to solving anything. They were still living in a cave, hiding from some unknown pursuer, and she knew very little about the situation. Gunther, Silas, and Zion all took turns leaving the cave for food, though she assumed they also checked on their situation. She felt as though she were going insane, especially with their recent avoidance.
'You worry the other two hate you.' Catherine grew used to his 'presence' in her head and they often talked to each other using their link, though she still hardly understood how it worked. 'They do not know what to say. It has been a month since your arrival in this world, yet you do not seem any closer to unlocking your powers as Cathy was.'
This annoyed her. No matter how many times she meditated with Silas, Gunther, or Zion, she was no closer to her supposed 'powers' than she was when she first arrived. With an exception of that pink-like mist that appeared when she panicked. Catherine was clueless as to how to use them, and the voices she heard back when she first arrived, had not come back. And with Gunther and Silas now avoiding her, she had to depend on Zion for answers. And Zion only answered her when he felt like it, too. She chewed on her lip, before shifting closer to Zion.
'Is that what we're waiting for?'
'Yes. We are here to keep you safe until you learn to access at least a shield.' His deep tenor voice replied, without a glance at her. 'Once you have, we will move elsewhere. We cannot stay in one location too long with this many people after us.'
"How many people are after us?" She asked aloud, and the three turned to look at her. "The three of you have not given me any details about our pursuers. Or that Satyr. And Gunther, Silas, we've already talked about this. I will not hurt you, or this body. If I was going to, I would have already."
"Scared." Zion shrugged to which Gunther jumped to a stand.
"I'm not scared!" Gunther yelled at Zion. "I just don't know how to act around her!"
Silence fell over the cave, and Catherine looked at the DragoShif in unconcealed shock. This was the first time she ever watched someone turn as red as a tomato, and he awkwardly shifted away from the group, the sound of his footsteps echoing as he walked towards the back of the cavern. What was strange was the silence left by his statement. Catherine tried to find out more from Silas and Zion, but they averted their gazes. She sighed before following after the wayward dragon again. He was the one who seemed to struggle the most from the missing Cathy. The other two did not seem to care.
"Sometimes you will say or do something that reminds me of her." He said when she arrived at his side. "Then I remember you are not her, and it sucks."
"I'm sorry." She sighed, taking a seat next to him, and he looked over at her. "I'm not her. How did you two meet?"
"I'm not sharing my Lias with you." Gunther snapped before his shoulders sank. "We met a year before we wed. I did not know you from before. A distance separated us."
"A distance?"
"Yes. I am the DragoShif. The next Dragon King." He sighed, his chest heaving. "We married three days before you arrived in Cathy's body. Our first meeting was three days before that, as is tradition for my people."
"Oh. But you already seem in love with her…" Catherine replied, glancing at the blood red-haired man at her side. "I assumed you knew her well."
"Intirmates are permanent, but we have not yet slept together. Not like her and the other two." Gunther pouted a little before he backpedaled. "Not that I wanted to, anyway. And I'm not 'in love' with her. It's only because we're Intirmates. My soul is drawn to her soul, not yours."
Though she knew it made sense, his words still hurt a little. Catherine was not the woman Gunther fell for. And though he never met his bride until three days before their marriage, he loved her and was loyal to the idea of his wedding. Which was a very attractive feature. Men were no where near as loyal where she was from. She gave him a gentle nod of understanding before turning back to the pool where the two often talked. The glowing creatures floating in the water splashed, and some water landed on Gunther's head, making Catherine giggle when he shook it away like a dog.
"Well, I understand your loyalty to Cathy, but I also want to trust and have your trust, too. So, if you want to act as you would around her, I would be fine with that." Catherine continued, reaching out to pat his damp red head like a child. "Though since you did not know her… could you get to know me the way you would have tried to get to know her?"
Gunther's red eyes narrowed, and he coughed, his cheeks flushing. She had not meant it to sound improper, though it was funny how embarrassed he would get. When she giggled, he looked back at her with annoyance in his eyes, but there was a little understanding there too, and he chuckled. As the two started laughing out loud, his earthy scent filled her nose before she found herself pressed against the stone floor of the cavern. Gunther positioned himself between her thighs, pressing his massive form against her body. His lips found purchase against the mark on her chest.
"Mmm!" Teeth sank into her lip as she tried to hold back her moans. "Hah!"
"Fine. If you wish for us to become closer, give yourself to me."
This chilled her to her core, and she froze, purple eyes wide. When he noticed, Gunther pulled back with a sigh of disappointment, his flushed face averting. She wanted to give in to her lust for these men, especially when they touched those marks, but it did not seem right to choose between them. Regardless of if they were her husbands or not. She could tell the three often butted heads, and did not want to increase that discomfort by picking just one of them. When she sat up, she put a hand on Gunther's shoulder.
"I'm sorry… I'm just still so very confused about this place…" Catherine supplied before rising to walk back to the others. "And I don't feel comfortable choosing between you three."
"There is no 'choosing' between us three." Silas appeared with Zion in tow. "You married all three of us. We all have an individual dynamic with you when we are alone with you, and another dynamic when the four of us are together."
"No interruptions." Zion confirmed with a nod. "If you speak to one of us, the others leave us alone."
"And everything is at your pace. Regardless of your soul's status as Cathy, you are our wife. We have been over this." The Dark Fae stepped forward and took her hand in his despite the annoyed expression on his face, his voice was gentle. "That means you chose how far you are willing to permit us to touch you. If you say stop, we will. If you say continue, we will. The same applies to any sexual relations we have as well."
~~~~~
Zion shifted closer as the storm outside worsened. Silas and Gunther left hours ago, and she was alone with him, trying to keep warm. Every time she shivered, Zion would shift a little closer, making her heart race in her chest. Of course, she felt closer to him because he always seemed to be nearby, his silent support a comfort when she felt distressed. But Catherine was well aware of how much he desired her. And all he had to do was touch the spot on her neck. Now that she thought of it, though, she wondered what it looked like.
"It matches my markings." He answered, his tenor voice echoing. "Here."
In his hand, a small mirror appeared and she looked at her neck. Sure enough, there was an intricate design of a wolf with hazel-colored eyes. It was about the size of her fist, a very obvious dark brown against her pale flesh, a similar color to the tattoos that wrapped around his form. Catherine looked at the mark Silas mentioned previously to find a very detailed reference to the Dark Fae. She had yet to learn much of her second husband, but she understood his status as her Harlequin. Catherine decided to learn more about that later. For now, she wanted to focus on this chance to learn more about Zion.
"Why were you so quick to accept this? I thought you loved Cathy." She wondered aloud, and his hazel eyes turned to look searchingly into hers. "I'm trying to make sense of the relationships here."
"Cathy did not love us." Zion shrugged, then turned back to the fire. "She hated our bonds."
"That doesn't answer…"
"I loved her looks. Her personality was too immature." He countered, making her jaw drop in shock. "You are better. You are not afraid of me."
Huh? Cathy was afraid of Zion? But he seemed so kind to her. Even with the scar under his eye, he was still a handsome male, with a diamond-shaped head, short brown hair, and full lips. He looked wilder than the other two, despite his quietness, and he leaned forward, his cocoa-colored skin looking sweaty in the firelight. When his fingers touched hers, and she felt his Lias spread through her form, she sighed in pleasure. It was warm, the same warmth of his skin on hers, and comforting, too. Was it because she trusted him? Catherine closed her eyes to the sensation.
"As your first husband, it is my duty to make sure the other two stay in line. In our relationship, I hold more power than they do." Zion's voice entered her ear nearby, sending a ghost of his breath across her flesh. "And so long as you trust me, nothing will ever happen to you. I ensure your safety from everyone while you are unable to protect yourself."
He was swearing himself to her much like a knight would, and it made her heart race in her chest. That traditional outlook made her feel like a woman who wanted to be protected by his strong arms, and confused her. Catherine was not the kind of woman to depend on a man, so depending on Zion seemed counterproductive to her. Not only that, but his voice made her spine tingle, and she wanted to buckle under the weight of his passionate gaze. Catherine had not even opened her eyes, yet she could feel his hazel orbs stroking over her skin under her pink robes.
"I am not in love with the idea of a woman who will never return my affections. But I can sense your attraction through our link." His voice moved lower, and she shivered again. "And that makes me want you. Perhaps the others feel the same way, and that is why they touch you too."
"You don't mind?"
"I am your first husband. It will never bother me." He shrugged, and his breath drifted lower. "So long as you are safe and happy in your relationships with them, I will not intrude. As I said, my first duty to you is your safety."
She still had yet to open her eyes. The link between them strummed to life when his massive hands gripped her shoulders, and she finally lifted her lids to lock with his hazel orbs. He was closer than she expected, but it did not startle her. His cocoa skin flexed over his muscles as he lowered her to the pillows beneath them. There was something methodical in his touch, a gentleness she knew did not fit Zion’s image, despite his scary expression. Zion was the first of the men she trusted, but he also was her type. The strong, silent kind of man.His warmth pressed ever closer until he leaned over her, his eyes narrowed in desire. It was a gaze that set her body aflame, and she automatically reached out to wrap her arms around his broad shoulders, feeling the muscles flex beneath her fingertips. Zion seemed to grow hotter under the feel of her hands on his back, and he locked eyes with her. Part of Catherine felt it was too soon to trust herself to him like this, but sh
He first met his arranged bride fifteen years prior, before she became the Tatiana. Her father, determined to find someone who would accept his strange daughter for forever, searched across the kingdom of the Fae until he happened upon Silas. And what was strange about Cathy? She was far smaller than the other women. While most women were closer to the males in height, Cathy was slim, with beautiful white hair, shining purple eyes, and for Silas, it was love at first sight. She was so small he wanted to protect her. So beautiful when she smiled, that when her father offered her hand, Silas was the first to accept."I have been searching for an Intirmate for her for as long as I can remember. Someone who would love her as soon as they met." The older Fae said in a shaky voice. "I do not care if you are a Dark Fae. Please make her happy.""Of course." Silas replied coolly, glancing over the old man's shoulder at the young Cathy. "May I introduce myself?"Silas ste
Gunther remembered when he agreed to the marriage. His father demanded he marry the Tatiana, the only woman who could bear him strong heirs. Then he met her three days before their Intirmating Ceremony, as was tradition for his people. She was beautiful, with pointed ears, glowing purple eyes, and long white tresses down her spine. Flawless skin, a beautiful pale white, with long white eyelashes. She wore such innocence in her eyes, something he found agreeable since he was not interested in a woman who was not. Cathy was ethereal, and Gunther was proud he won the approval of Silas and Zion.“Tatiana, I am honored to stand before you, a Dragon who has won mating rights.” Gunther bowed, but slipped and landed right on his face before her. “Uh…”“Haha…” She giggled, making him look up at her flushed face, and his heart throbbed. “Are you okay?”~~~~~Catherine was noth
~~~~~Catherine rarely found herself impressed by someone’s consideration before. But she could not help but be in awe of her youngest husband. Though he pretended to hate every second, he still helped her to the bathroom. And maybe he thought she did not notice, but she could tell his soap was homemade. It smelled of soft lavender and reminded her of her baths back on Earth. A tear rolled down her cheek, and Gunther appeared from nowhere, making her cover her chest under the bubbling hot water. Clear panic was written all over his face, and his distressed appearance almost made up for his nearly seeing her naked. No matter if he was her husband or not, he was still a stranger to her.“Is the water too hot?!” He cried out, and she felt his Lias swell. “Sorry, I was thinking back to when you first looked at me.”“Huh?” she wondered dumbly, before shouting in embarrassment. “No! The water’s fine!&
“Silas…” Catherine started, but Gunther interrupted.“Do we need to move out?” He asked, not glancing at her. “How close are Queen Susanne and her allies?”“Gunther…” she tried, but Silas ignored her outcry.“Too close.” Zion nodded, scooping Catherine into his arms. “Gather Catherine’s things. We’re leaving.”“Zion…” But he did not spare her a glance, so she crossed her arms in a huff. “I see how things are. Fine, I’ll shut up.”Without another word, she found herself on the enormous back of Zion as the sight of the cave disappeared behind her. Catherine felt a little nostalgic as she watched the mouth of her home for the past two months disappear, but she startled when she realized it, and shook the thoughts from her head. For now, the focus needed to be on staying alive. If someone was after them, they likely not
Gunther felt it was his job to protect her, yet here she was, shielding him against Zion’s and Silas’s glares. He failed her, yet she proclaimed his innocence. Why was she always surpassing his expectations? Catherine was nothing like the Cathy he remembered. She was always crying out for help, pretending she was in danger, and acting like a spoiled child. Catherine did her best to make him comfortable, and it was for that he could find her easing into his heart. His Lias leaked, moving towards his Intirmate, but he blocked it, still unable to face almost hurting her.“While we were in the sky, he activated his Lias to make sure I was comfortable. Doing so alerted our enemies, and he took the hit they intended for me.” Catherine spoke softly, using her bare hand to wipe at the sweat on his forehead. “So, he did not FAIL you. I failed him.”He weakly opened his eyes to look into her concerned purple eyes. Even though he knew he messed
Silence met his ears first. Then the soft chirp of birds in the distance and the crackle of a fire nearby. Gunther could feel pillows under his body, and he clenched his eyes before opening them. He was on his back under the swaying branches of some tall trees. His red eyes looked around to find the back of Catherine near the fire, Silas reading some parchment in a branch on one of the tall trees, and Zion was stalking the perimeter in the distance, but Gunther could still sense his Lias. As if sensing his movements, Catherine turned to look at him before she looked up into the trees, her purple eyes shimmering.Gunther watched Silas leave, and she approached the pillows with an apologetic expression on her face. Was she going to abandon him? He failed her, so he could not blame her. But when she sat and lifted his head into her lap, he froze. What was she doing? Gentle fingertips stroked through his hair, making his horns appear. This was something only Intirmates could do.
The pain did not last long, and a few days later, Catherine was up and moving around again. After all the work to make their camp more comfortable for the four of them, she sat down to meditate for the day. Her spine relaxed, and she let her eyes drift closed after crossing her legs under her. Silas’s teachings flooded into her mind, and she found her center, her thoughts easing into her meditative state. Her source. The Lias burning bright within her chest. Since she began practice with it, it was much easier to access the Majyk of Erlias. She inhaled the scent of the surrounding woods, the sound of the birds chirping, and the feel of the breeze on her cheeks. A visage appeared before her, someone familiar yet not.“You have mastered accessing Lias, I see. I was right to choose you to take my place.” Cathy’s voice whispered, and Catherine’s eyes widened. “Your bond with Zion, Silas, and Gunther grows ever stronger. You will sa
"Assessment complete. We have located the correct soul. Let us check her response to the Future Tatiana's Chosen Husbands." A voice said, causing my eyes to blink open. "You came to the park to play today with your new friends. Have fun!" The surrounding scenery changed from blank white to a splash of all the colors of the rainbow. I lifted my hand to block out the sun before throwing my head around to look around the park. It was pretty, and I could see three different boys playing by themselves. I skipped to the meanest looking one first, worried I would chicken out if he was actually as mean as he looked. He glanced up at me before jerking his head away, as if he should fear me. "Go away. Girls dislike scary boys." "But you're not that scary. You have honest eyes, which makes you quite handsome." I stated with a giggle, before pointing at the slide. "Would you like to play?" "No. I prefer watching over the people I like." He replied with a gentle smile, though still would not le
"Gunther, you should not be seen with that Fae female!" His father warned with narrowed ruby eyes. "What if she mind controls you and forces you to harm us?" "Catherine would never do that, Father." Gunther sighed, annoyed at the topic coming up again, and glared at the older Dragon. "She is a good female, perfect for raising our whelps. You said you would trust me." "I do, but at least keep your options open. Lady Gisela is very interested in seeing you again." Klaus stated with a mischevious grin. "Perhaps you could see..." "Gisela is a childhood friend and nothing more. She could never produce several heirs. You know Dragon fertility rates are low." The younger returned while clenching his fists, his form growing stiffer. "You wanted me to Intirmate with the Tatiana so the Dragons could have strong whelps. How could you ask me to turn my back on my wife?" It hurt. Gunther loved his family and the Dragons. He wanted a wonderful future for all of the
Gunther remained by her side when they approached the entrance to the Audience Chamber within the Lair. Though she felt out of place and unwanted, she kept her head up and her attention focused on what she wanted to say. Dragons were notorious for growing angry, something she often saw in her third husband, so she wanted to make sure she did not offend the King.As they got closer, the doors opened revealing a large throne with a shifted Dragon lying near it. Powerful Lias filled the room, making the candles flicker off the shiny white walls, and she gripped Gunther's hand, hoping for the courage to make this work. She looked up at her husband with a small nod, wanting to get this over with. They took two steps before the Dragon's eyes opened, a familiar red with slitted black pupils.He was massive, with a curving green and red tail, large dark green wings, and an extremely long snout. This Dragon had to be the strongest of all the Dragons, and the thought made
The Queens were angry with his orders, but could not rise against him. Silas smirked a little before refocusing on the parchment in his hands. People did not like the barriers to Faerie being open. There were hate crimes happening, and DragoShif children being located. And he missed her. Since she entered the Dragon Territory, neither he nor Zion heard anything from Catherine or Gunther.He could still feel her Intirmating link, but she was keeping things silent. Perhaps she was learning more about their culture she could not share, though that made him nervous. What if she was in danger? Silas shook the thoughts from his head, unwilling to savor the idea. Even if she were weakened by something, she would endure. He just needed faith in her. With that determination, he continued working until a heavy knock fell on his door."Come in." He called, unsurprised when several Queens filed into the room, annoyed expressions on their faces. "What is it?""The Barrier to
Fynn looked between Gunther and Catherine with annoyed, yellowish eyes, making her shift nervously. She hated being scrutinized by people who were strangers to her. But Gunther trusted him enough to bring her here, to his friend's unremarkably gray, rocky home, so perhaps she should give him the benefit of doubt. Fynn was a slimmer DragoShif who looked a little older than Gunther, but she did not know how old that was."You never found a den for your Intirmate?" Fynn questioned, drawing the gaze of everyone nearby. "Come inside."When she stepped through the entryway into the mountain, the first thing she noticed was how beautiful the place was. Instead of what she imagined as a cold, unforgiving room, the foyer was actually quite warm in its decor and gentle blues, so she breathed an inward sigh of relief. Fynn turned with a scowl on his face, and Catherine tilted her head at his strange expression. Was there something wrong?"Your father is sick. Rebels are ri
To say it was clothing was a gross understatement. Catherine did not know how the clothes stayed in place to cover all her private parts, but it did. It was still a dress, of sorts. The top was one long scarf-like dark blue fabric that wrapped around her neck in a single loop before covering her breasts. It attached at the hips to a lighter blue fabric skirt with flower prints near the tail. Her entire back and parts of her chest down to her bellybutton felt more exposed than normal, and her cheeks flushed."I look silly..." she stated, covering the slip of skin between the fabric of her top with her arms. "This is embarrassing..."Since she came back from the ensuite, the three had yet to close their mouths, but as soon as she turned to change, she felt a whisper of breath across her bare back, making her toes curl. Her husbands could be so cruel, she thought, turning to find Gunther on his knees next to her. His ruby red eyes were blown up in lust, and his fingers pu
"Cathy, you cannot accommodate him like that. If it is too much, then say so." Silas's familiar voice rang in his head and he blearily opened his eyes. "Oh look. The Lizard is waking up!" "Silas..." Catherine started warningly, but the cool expression on his face had Gunther wincing. "He needs to hear it at some point. You cannot go that far, Lizard. If Catherine spends too much of her Lias on us, the world gets off balance." The Fae ranted, listing things off with efficiency. "And I know your mating season is soon, but try to remember your wife just had pups." One look at her told him all he needed to know. He did not mean to push her that far, but he was so out of it, lost since their last time together, that all he could think about was her pleading expression. All he could see was her acceptance. The same acceptance he knew made her an attractive wife, yet never expected to receive. He loved her, but he hurt her. When her hands reached out to stroke
She knew better, but it was calling to her. Now, here she was, stuck to the side of some young male Fae who only pretended to like her. Elvenia did not want to go to Faerie until a few weeks ago, when some young man, a guard, came to confess to her. He promised her a future together only to lie and hurt her. Why did her mother allow this? Elvenia sighed, but thought about Catherine.Never once had her mother denied her or rejected her. This would hurt her, but Elvenia hoped her parents would give up. Despite his lies to her, she did not want Eitan to face punishment. Especially not from her father. They may have hid the truth from her mother, but she knew Silas wanted Circe to die. She could see it in his eyes anytime Circe was brought up. The Elder Fae likely felt at fault for this latest string of stress."Your mother will not be coming here." Circe whispered with a crazy grin. "But with you here, she cannot do anything when I go there. Only the real Tatiana has cont
She was busy. Gunther understood it and was told not to be selfish, yet here she was, staring expectantly at him. The Council of the Queens agreed to meet with her if she passes through the gate. But Catherine refused, stating the Council would need to come to her. She was headstrong and refused to bow to them, which made her shine brighter in his eyes. Since she came into her Majyk, she seemed like a different woman and it drove him wild. But he did not expect her to notice. He felt distant from her. Sure, he saw her every day, but her focus was on Silas and Zion, something that annoyed him greatly. Though he tried to not complain. Catherine had a lot of responsibilities when she was this close to the border of Faerie. That was what he tried to convince himself of, anyway. The more they laid under the moons of Erlias, her resting on his shifted form, these thoughts plagued him. "Do not let me ignore you, Gunther. If you want attention, let me know." She whispered, h
