Ariziel

I opened my eyes to groan at the sun hitting me, aggravating the pounding headache I felt.

Slowly I stood up, hands fisted against the sheets as I stared into space.

I had another dream.

It was not the nightmare that had haunted me for the past few days, but a real dream. The times I believed to have forgotten cane back.

In my dream I saw a younger Derek. His smiles, his laughs and his playfulness.

Now, Derek was my mate and an Alpha. But back then, he was nothing more than my childhood friend.

Knowing each other since childhood, he was the only one in the pack who interacted with me. Even though he couldn’t stop the problems I faced, he comforted me through them. It was when we grew old enough that we learned that the Alpha, Derek’s father and my father, the Beta, had agreed on an arranged marriage between Derek and I, in order to secure the pack’s future.

A part of me mourned then, knowing that there was no chance of me finding my mate anymore. But I resigned to the idea q

AsherI sighed as the meeting droned on, with Serena giggling by her side about something I couldn't understand. It always went on like this. The weekly pack meeting was a briefing of every matter that has happened in the pack for every member to hear and discuss.Which was why, the large number of people clumped the hall. When I first came I looked around, perusing the place for something. Something…red, with blue eyes and pale, pale…A gasp left my lips, to the notice of Serena. My tongue felt heavy on me when I realized what, or being more exact, who I was searching for.Passing an assuring nod to Serena, I looked forward towards the crowd. Inside I berated myself for thinking about her.She was nobody to me, stupid bond or not. When the bond was broken this feeling was going to leave.“What about the rogue that was found?”My heart skipped a beat at hearing who they were talking about next. a prickling feeling came from beside me which I was sure was Serena's stare.Still I locked

AsherPregnant.I looked back to Ariezel's frame, lying on the hospital bed. She remained thin, almost sickly. She wasn't how I'd imagine a pregnant woman to be.And yet, she was pregnant for weeks, probably before she even came here.“You may leave.” I ordered the pack doctor, feeling her stiffen beside me.“Yes, Alpha Blackwell.” she bowed and scuttled out of sight.I paid no mind to her as I looked at the only one who mattered. Her red tresses flowed down the hospital bed, framing her face. The slight dark circles under her eyes. It felt like she was exposed to the world. Vulnerable.I sat beside her, but didn't dare touch. Her skin looked as pale as paper, and I feared that one touch was going to break her apart.Someone had abused her. And I was damn sure that that person and the father of her child was the damn same person.I remembered what she said, about why she ran away. There was someone she was betrothed to. And he…“He wasn't a good person.” she had said.Anger curled up

AriezelI hated this place. The sterile environment was too jarring. Too similar to the one which I wanted to forget. And yet, I felt better here than I had in weeks. The pains and aches were gone and slowly I found that most of the bruises that had plagued me had disappeared, my supernatural healing finally kicking in.I had met the pack doctor, a kind woman which relieved me of my fears. And yet, whenever I was alone, I could easily imagine the years of pitied glances and indifferent stares.Which was why it was such a relief when I was finally discharged.I entered the pack house on my own, stares I couldn't understand following me as I walked through the hallways. I wasn't sure who had found me, but it must have been a big enough scene for me to now be the subject of these stares.Being used to this as a former Luna was the only reason why I stood straight and strong, not betraying any emotion as I moved to my room. Inside though, I wanted to crush and crawl into a hidden corner w

  • Her Second Chance Mate   Chapter Sixteen

AriezelAs evening came, I was ready for dinner. I left the room, meeting Harriet on the way only to find her fussing on me.“Alpha Blackwell was so worried.” she gushed, talking about how he found me unconscious, and yet couldn't understand why he was able to know before anyone else.I nodded in silence, not betraying anything I felt. It was best if I acted just as confused, so nobody suspected that we were mates.Together, we moved to the large hall, where stares followed me as usual. Harriet ignored them, leading me to one of the empty tables.I waited for her to bring us both our food. Whether by some foolish instinct, I found myself looking up to the higher place, where Asher was.The seat where Serena ate was empty, and guards stood all around. But to my surprise, Asher was already present. And he was staring at me.I looked away the moment I realized that his eyes were on mine. Blood rushed towards my cheeks as I felt his stare piercing behind me. I focused on the dark wood tab

AriezelIn the morning I awoke, fully dressed and ready for the day.It was a surprise to me how quickly I had recovered over the few days that had passed. Back in my pack there was no day that I had gone without a wound or bruise. The absence of pain or aches left me feeling brighter.I waited in my room as Alys had instructed when she came in earlier.A man came in, lean and unassuming. I straightened as he did.“Good morning. It's good that you're up early. I am Ambrose, and you'll be following my lead today.”I nodded obediently. At the back of my mind, his name rang a bell. I was sure that I had heard it before. While I went up to follow him, I remained in contemplation. To my surprise, as the other pack members passed us, they gave a slight bow at the man.It was too late when I realized who it was. I stopped when he did, but barely heard the words he said.“Sorry, I didn't get that.” I said to him,He didn't look angry, patiently repeating “I said this is where you'll be workin

AsherI remained sorting out documents even though my mind was miles away, locked onto flaming red hair and blue eyes.I decided to change my treatment of her, paying attention to details the pack doctor informed me of.Avoiding any strenuous work? I changed her post.Needed to be nourished properly? I ordered the pack kitchen to curate a fuller nutrient meal for her.It was all worth it, all for the greater cause of getting her to trust me. It definitely wasn't for any other reason aside from finding out what wretched waste if a man could have treated someone so badly. Most of all it was solely as she was my pack member.I ignored the constant purr with every decision I made Telling me that I was 'taking care of mate' and 'being a good mate'. There was nothing about that.Truly.I had expected one thing from her from approaching her in the night. Perhaps a word of appreciation. A part of me had expected her to follow through with her emotionless veneer-although expectations and what

  • Her Second Chance Mate   Chapter 19

AriezelBy the time it is time for dinner I feel even more refreshed.Even though I was begrudgingly angry at his newfound treatment of me and the attention it got from the pack, I could not deny that I had felt begrudgingly better than before.Even for such a little thing, I felt immensely grateful for it.I ate beside Harriet and Alys, who had surprised us with her appearance. Yet as I did, my eyes couldn't help but wonder continuously towards the empty seats. The moment the place went quiet my heart skipped a beat. My gaze instantly went towards the high podium where Asher was coming out from. But it wasn't only him, Serena was there too, earning many gasps as I looked down and realized what had earned the noise. He was holding her hand, dragging her into.Despite my best efforts, I couldn't help but make quick glances at their podium where they both seemed so into each other for the first time.He never once looked back.I fought the bitter feeling, letting logic take over. AsherShe glowed. Those were the first thoughts that entered my head as I looked at her face, solely fixated on the screen. Her eyes were glossy with tears, yet the bright flush on her cheeks and joyous smile that curled up her lips told otherwise. Even in the combination of the daylight and offensive bleached hospital lights, she shone. It felt like a punch to the stomach, taking my breath away. Something in me felt heavy and pulsing, rushing through my ears frantically. It took me a few seconds to realize what it was; my heartbeat. What was I feeling?I wanted to run away to the nearest bathroom or closed corner where I could cool down and push away the cacophony of sensations that bombarded me. But I couldn't, because I wanted to stay here, savoring this moment, this look of happiness I had seen on her face. My reason fought against my feelings and with her face drawing me in like a moth to a flame, the latter won. I highly doubted that it was even a battle at all.The words of th

I said, smiling at her giggle. She turned back, her red curls bouncing along with her.She was the youngest out of the two of my half sisters, nine years old, although she continuously argues that she was turning ten. After getting to know Florian, he introduced me to both of them with joy. Although for now they only saw me as an aunt and the future Luna, in spite of our resemblance. It hadn't taken long for her to grow used to me, although Jolene, the older one, was more reserved.I turned to look at her in the hall we were staying in. She lounged in a chair, short blonde tresses resting on the couch as she read a book. She was the sole outlier out of us, and she was mostly quiet, always analyzing whenever I was present. It was okay, I didn't mind staying for as long as it took for her to get used t

  • Her Second Chance Mate   Chapter 143

143: AriezelIn the end, Alys and Harriet left us alone in the room. We stared at each other for what seemed like ages.I couldn't believe my eyes as I stared at the man in front of me. It seemed more like a dream as I looked at him over.I felt him doing the same to me, awe and surprise written over his face. But we couldn't stay in silence for long. Not as it stretched to the point of awkwardness. Finally regaining a bit of my senses, I parted my lips to speak.“Hello." Both our voices chorused.I blinked in surprise. As it seemed we had both spoken at the same time. The single word seemed to sway through the tension that was presented. I cracked my lips in a small smile.“Please sit down." I said, gesturing to the chair which Alys once sat in.I was sure Alys must have been grilling Harriet by now. After all, she hadn't kept this from just me but from her as well.I waved the thought away easily. Alys and Harriet were the last thing on my mind as he sat down.It was even more uncan

Ariezel“So one of the members said that she insulted her butt, so the other- her name was…Amber I think? Proceeded to shiver her own butt in my face just for comparison.”My stomach hurt badly solely from the amount of times I laughed. It was so difficult to catch my breath from the words Alys was saying.Thankfully, she waited till I was done before she spoke again.“In the end," Alys sighed despondently “The fight turned into a butt comparing contest with people as the audience and I being the judge. All I could think of at the moment was that this wasn't what I had prepared for."I howled again in laughter, the humor of her deadpan words further aggravated by the resigned, almost haunted look on her face. In my laughter I vaguely heard Alys laughter follow as minutes passed. My breaths heaving for air I looked at Alys to find an amused look on her face.“I glad that my misery could make you a little bit happy.” she said.I shook my head quickly in response .“I'm so sorry." • Her Second Chance Mate   Chapter 141

AriezelI was weightless, swimming in darkness without a care in the world. It felt like there was nothing holding me back. It might as well have been true.Like wisps of smoke, memories and voices came to me, only to fade away the moment I tried reaching out for them. In the end, I remained floating.I didn't know how much time I had spent, but soon, everything began to fade. The weightless darkness I floated in materialized until a firmament grew below, carrying me. The weightless darkness faded into something else. Something more material.Like a disk, I was drawn out of my water and the peaceful darkness, into something more material. And slowly but surely, I opened my heavy eyelids to see blinding light. It took me time to adjust, squinting and blinking against the harsh brightness. Once I finally did, all my other senses came back.A soft but firm surface below me, the scent of comfort that wafted over and ceiling I felt familiar in.Where was I?My memories then came back and

  • Her Second Chance Mate   Chapter 140

AsherI focused on her, taking her hand in mine in spite of everything in me that resisted.“Hello Serena." I said in a gratingly low voice, looking into her eyes. She sighed, looking awestruck as she looked at me.She, just like all the others who had once fought and scrambled to force me to mate with them, only saw what I was from the outside. A ruthless alpha and a powerful one. There was only one who didn't.Thoughts hammered in my head, coaxing me to go back and fix what I had done. I stayed firm however and brought the blonde woman closer. It was only a matter of time.“Let's go inside Serena.” coaxing her away, I led her inside, eyeing the rest of her guards who moved away, paving the path for us.Together, we moved through the forest with her and I at the forefront whilst the rest of my soldiers and hers followed from behind. Our arms were linked as we walked while she spoke ravingly. She kept on rambling about how she knew that I was going to come back to her and all her :sac

  • Her Second Chance Mate   Chapter 139

Ariezel My breath caught as those words reverberated through my brain long after they had gone.‘What?'My heart stuttered the moment I heard them, confusion filling my senses as I looked at him.It wasn't an illusion. Those were the words that came out of his mouth.‘Why?’What was he thinking? Why would he say that?I tried to look at him, praying that he would look at me and tell me that it was a hoax or something. Anything. But he kept his eyes away, focusing on Serena.“Asher." I cried out. I struggled against their grip, uncaring at that moment. It was only when I felt the threatening cool metal pressing against me in warning that I stopped.I didn't stop looking at him however, hoping that my call would finally make him focus on me.To my relief, it did. When he looked at me, I didn't expect to see his gaze so cold and shuttered.I was thrown aback by the sudden stare. This wasn't my Asher. The distance in his stare reminded me of back then, when he suddenly left me.My blood t

Ariezel “Relax. He'll be back in no time.” Alys said.I smiled at her in turn, yet I couldn't focus properly.Under the protection of soldiers within my room, Alys and Harriet stayed to keep me company throughout. Hours had passed, yet with no news, we stayed in place with more worries than not.Alys had left the hospital and held the same worried gaze in spite of her constant assurance. It was especially more of a necessity for her considering that Ambrose had gone along with Asher. Now we were both waiting and hoping that all went well for the sake of our mates.“I…I actually have something to tell you guys." Harriet spoke hesitantly.I was grateful for any distraction that could take away the churning anxiety.I had never expected what she would say next.“I found my mate."My jaw dropped.“Oh my…oh Goddess." Alys was the first to move forward, taking Harriet's hands in hers.“That's so good. I'm happy for you.” Alys gushed out.I knew that in spite of her carefree attitude, she

  • Her Second Chance Mate   Chapter 137

Asher The night was still, without so much as a cricket sound. My gaze swept the place. As I had expected, the security was lax.‘How foolish of them.’We had left the pack by evening, marching and moving until we hid close to the border of the Pack. When I told Ariezel of the sped up plans, she was worried, kissing me goodbye on the forehead.“Be safe." She whispered. My heart skipped a beat for her, knowing that she was out of my reach, filling me with anxiety. But there was no reason for me to be so worried about her this time. I had placed several guards under her to watch. Now? It was already midnight. We had trailed the path, waiting inconspicuously for hours. Whether or not Derek was here, at least I would be able to finish off one thing. It was soon time. My instincts were on overdrive, pumped with adrenaline. I could feel the weight of the celrescent moon above us.They wouldn't see this coming.I rose my hand to signal them all. This was the same thing they had done to us.

  • Her Second Chance Mate   Chapter 136

Asher “199…200.” I grunted out, pushing my body up.Only a day was left before the attack was launched. Until them, I had to continuously put myself in prime condition for certain victory. That involved constantly working out day by day, straining myself to the limits within the span of time I had.My days had only been limited to those two things; training and Ariezel. I wasn't shy to say that the majority of my time was spent with Ariezel, whether it was from taking walks with her to watching over her in the nights till early in the morning. I remained constantly by her side.Nothing was going to happen overnight, much less after two days. She was still reeling from my acceptance and remained hesitant. My heart still ached as she woke up with nightmares. But unlike before, she never faked a smile like before. She spoke openly about her nightmares before she slipped back into sleep. Even when she stiffened at the mention of her condition, whenever I was there, she relaxed. This tim
