Draco’s POV

There was no choice left to make.

I drummed on the desk with my fingertips as I thought of how best to present this issue before the leaders.

My pack was very delicate and we haven’t welcomed strangers into the pack since we overcame the insurgency.

There were a few leaders which I knew could pose a problem to the success of the meeting.

Elder Kelvin, a former Alpha of the pack and the grand-elder of this pack, was a recluse. He was difficult to deal with, though I knew the right words to get him where to come around.

The initial scepticism is to be expected, but I’d make sure they eventually embrace the idea.

The major obstacle would be the question of how both packs would come together, a question which I couldn’t answer myself.

I ran a hand through my hair and closed my eyes with a deep sigh.

Let’s not think about this now. I needed to trash the heap of files before.

And I set out doing just that.

I stretched a couple of hours later after I’d handled the files and clear

Draco’s POVThe nagging suspicion stayed with me even until dinner time.I got to the dining area to find the place gradually filling up as pack members streamed into the room while exchanging greetings.“Alpha!”They all rose and bowed in deference, acknowledging my presence.I waved off the greetings, and they all sat down expectantly. The pack, because of our small size, was closely knit, and everyone cared for each other. There was no such thing as a complete family in this pack. All around me were shifters who’d lost one or two members of their family, with many having lost their entire family to the pack crisis from half a decade ago.I frowned as I glanced around the room, noticing Sophie’s glaring absence. She’s been noticeably absent since my return, which was unusual.I walked towards my seat at the head of the table just as Seb and Bruno came in through the door leading into the dining area. They were headed in my direction, and I smiled fondly at their approach. Draco’s POVI turned to find that Seb had also noticed Sophie’s rushed exit. We exchanged glances and I could see the same suspicions reflected in his eyes.If Sophie was the intruder at the pack office, then the situation could get pretty tricky.I was well aware of her persistent need to be the Luna of this pack, and Sera’s existence was throwing a wrench into her plans.I was determined to take control of the entire situation before it got out of hand, as things could get ugly. There was no point confronting her now, but the outcome of tomorrow’s meeting was even more important.Bruno quietly watched us from his seat. His expression showed that he could feel the tension in the almost emptied area.“Does anyone intend to tell me what is going on here?” He kept his voice low, cautious of the few pack members still in the dining area.I stood, and they both stood alongside me.“Tomorrow, man,” I said, giving Bruno a pat on the back while he watched me in question.I was ready to retir

  • Her Second Chance Alpha   The meeting (1)

Draco’s POVThe door to the room right beside mine came open, and Sebastian came out fresh from the shower. He glanced at us, wondering what we were doing standing in the hallway.I ignored his look and proceeded towards the stairs. “Let’s head to the meeting room, since we’re all here.”Bruno and Seb trailed after me in silence as I descended the stairs. We’d just reached the end of the stairs when Freya came through the dining area.“Good morning, Alpha,” she bowed, “Sebastian and Bruno, how was your night? Hope you had a nice rest?” “Freya, you look lovely, as always. I had a good night’s rest, thank you.”Sebastian had a wide grin. Freya was a favorite of most of the pack members and he was no exception. With a smile, she announced, “Breakfast is almost ready. We should set the table in 30 minutes.”The meeting was to be held after breakfast and as pack members began streaming in. Bruno wasn’t the only one curious about the reason for the meeting. The leaders were making an appe

  • Her Second Chance Alpha   The Meeting (2)

Draco’s POV“Let’s move this to the meeting room,” I said as I rose and turned to head out of the dining area. They all stood up at my words and we moved out the doors, down the hallway, toward the meeting room. There was no need to delay anymore since everyone was here and we’d all eaten. We all walked in silence, each person lost in his thoughts. The meeting rooms in most packs were similar, with little or no difference. The pack’s meeting room was at the far end of the hallways because of the level of privacy needed for this meeting. However, most pack members were outside the pack or still lingering in their rooms at this time, which gave us much-needed privacy. This situation was just to my advantage, as controlling the opinions of these pack leaders to the existence of my mate would be effective in influencing the opinion of most of my pack members.Having two Alpha-level leaders in any pack would be difficult to navigate, but having a positive attitude was very important.Seba

  • Her Second Chance Alpha   Draco’s Shocking Plans

Draco’s POV“What? Your mate is the alpha of the Still Moon Pack?” Kelvin’s thunderous voice filled the meeting room.I sat in silence as I watched their reactions. Alpha mates were just as rare as second-chance mates, if not more.Female Alphas had been non-existent for the last few decades until Elder Selene, a member of the Elders’ Council in the Werewoods, broke that cycle. But Elder Selene never had an alpha mate. This made my situation with Sera even more peculiar. Our bond was going to attract unwanted attention and scrutiny for both our packs from the Council and other Alphas and everyone in the Werewoods.A situation neither I nor Sera wanted to see happen. My silence seemed to confirm Elder Kelvin’s words as Freya exclaimed, “What is the Moon Goddess trying to do? Stir up the entire Werewoods?”Her words echoed everyone’s thoughts, similar to my thoughts when I’d first discovered that my mate was an Alpha that fateful day in the guest room of the White Moon Pack.I was con

  • Her Second Chance Alpha   Draco’s Shocking Plans(2)

Draco’s POV “What did you say?” Elder Kelvin’s gaze showed disbelief. The idea weighed on my heart and my lips felt heavy from the size of the thoughts which passed its confines. It was new. It was fresh and unexplored, but it could work if given a chance. This idea of mine. “A union of two packs? No shifter has ever done that in our history!” Bruce said, eyes widened in shock. The usually composed enforcer had lost his composure at my words. The werewoods had never in its history recorded the union of two packs and the idea was foreign to us shifters. But who says our packs wouldn’t be the ones to break the record? Besides, it was worth the try. “The idea in itself sounds ridiculous!” Jane had a look of outright disapproval directed my way. “I mean, why go through all this just to invite trouble to ourselves? What of Sophie? She’s lovely and is Luna material.” Sebastian and I exchanged glances, remaining silent. The others all looked away in discomfort. Sophie wa

Sophie’s POV“Fine, just tell me about Sera. Is she your second-chance mate?”My pupils constricted in shock and for a moment, I couldn’t process the words I’d heard coming from the pack office.Draco had a second-chance mate? Did those even exist anymore? No, it was impossible.I shook my head in disbelief and the tail ends of my blonde curls bounced in harmony at the force of my movement.Sebastian had always been the bane of my existence in the pack since we were little, and this could just be another plot to taunt me, knowing that I was just behind the door.Just wait. Draco was going to tell him off pretty soon.I swiped my hair behind my shoulders, filled with disgust at Sebastian’s antics, while ignoring the brief pang of anxiety growing in my heart. The office remained quiet, and I didn’t hear Draco’s response for a long time.My hands felt itchy, and I desperately wanted to put it in my mouth, an anxious habit of mine. Sophie’s POVMy anxious thoughts calmed now that I knew my next course of action. I was determined to fight for Draco, but how to go about it evaded me.A second-chance mate? The thought of that still baffled me. I mean, who could have imagined? That was almost unheard of in the Werewoods.Just as I’d thought the major obstacle was dead and gone, long out of the way, a new one emerged. But it was unimportant to me because I just needed to get rid of this second-chance just like I did the first-chance.I let out a grim smile at my wordplay.Too bad I didn’t wait to get the full details about her identity. Sera’s POVWe all fell silent at Ruby’s words and even the pups around strained their ears, waiting to hear Draco’s reply.I turned to Draco, whom Ruby had put on the spot, as if I were watching a spectacle. We were all waiting to see how he’d handle her.As we all watched, Draco crunched down before Ruby, looking her in the eye. He let out his all too familiar wide grin and finally gave a reply.“Yes, I am Sera’s mate. My name is Draco, the Alpha of the Silva Moon Pack. I am the father of your niece or nephew, which is going to come out any time from now.”I gasped at his words.Ruby’s eyes took on a vicious glint, which I’d never seen, and she reached out to hit Draco before anyone could stop her.“Bad Alpha. You are the bad wolf that got Sera pregnant and left her all alone,” Ruby said, her hands crossed over her chest in defiance. My eyes widened, and I watched, amazed at how my sister had defended me. My eyes brimmed with tears and my vision blurred, but my heart surged with so m

Sera’s POV“You mean Alpha Draco of the Silva Moon Pack? The strongest shifter in all the Werewoods?” Max couldn’t keep his mouth closed as he stared at my mate, looking amazed.I fought hard to hold in my laughter, and the looks on Miles’ and Millie’s faces betrayed their amusement.Max had always been a fan of strong shifters and always raved about them. It was no wonder that he was also a fan of Draco, an Alpha who’d accomplished so much while we were all still playing around in the pack, merely pups. He’d become the young Alpha in his teenage years and built the strongest team of enforcers the Werewood has ever seen. That team was now going to move into this pack and become a part of us.I could already see Max’s reaction when he found out.Draco had a smug look at Max’s reaction to his identity. I hit him on his arm discreetly, while no one else was looking. He was having fun at my friend’s expense and I could have that.“Yes, in flesh and blood.” Draco responded with a slight

Sera’s POV“What?!” I exclaimed, unable to believe my ears.Max had delayed his return to the pack for so long that when we’d received a letter stating that he was close to the pack just before I got summoned by the Council, I’d brushed it off like it was another one of his reassurances. The harsh sound of screeching chair legs against the floor came from the side of the meeting room as Grace exclaimed with excitement, “My brother is back!”Like a whirlwind, she ran past the panting enforcer towards the exit, all thoughts of the ongoing meeting long forgotten.Miles and I exchanged glances.Max was back just in time before we begun big changes to the pack.I couldn’t help but be curious about the outcome of his investigation into the backgrounds and origin of the new pack members we had.It was just as well that we cleared out the spies before setting up the new pack.“Thank you, Joseph. You may take your leave,” I said to the messenger enforcer with a small smile.“Yes, Alpha.” He t

  • Her Second Chance Alpha   Max is Back!

Sera’s POV“What? A union of both packs? Mates? This is absurd!” Elder Philips exclaimed while the rest of my pack remained silent.“How is that possible? They can’t just command two shifters to get mated on a whim, right?” Max’s sheltered little sister, Grace, looked downright confused as she glanced around the room.We all knew that the Council could do whatever it pleased as it reigned supreme in the Werewoods, but no one was going to upset the she-wolf by telling her that.“The idea of uniting two packs is ridiculous. I mean, no one has ever tested it in the Werewoods,” Steve said, shaking his head slightly.“Which is why the Council has placed the union on a three-month probation. If either of the packs feels that strongly that things are not working out, they can secure a reversal by putting forth a convincing argument to the Council,” I said, hoping to reassure them. There was an inaudible sigh of relief that filled the room.Everyone looked relieved at my words, and the frown

  • Her Second Chance Alpha   Breaking the News

Sera’s POV“Just in time,” Cindy said, as she watched us walk into the dining area. Her face showed her disapproval as she stood arm akimbo in the large dinning. The Omegas assigned to the kitchen, Lydia and Aria, were clearing the dishes used by pack members during their breakfast and cleaning up the tables. We didn’t make it in time for breakfast with the pack.“Had you been a minute late, you would have had to microwave your meal yourself,” she said without a hint of a smile. The pack’s meal time was sacred to Cindy, and we always tried to ensure we made it in time every day. As the pack’s cook and the one in charge of our everyday meals, she hated food wastage even more.“Hello to you too, Cindy. I had to urge them to come down earlier. If not, they wouldn’t be out until noon,” Draco said as he moved forward to take a seat.I glared at him in mock outrage while Millie just looked from one person to another, confused by Draco’s statement.I ignored the snitching wolf and turned to

Sera’s POV“What do you mean?” Millie had the grace to look confused and I would have fallen for her act if I didn’t know her so well. I smiled in amusement, about to open my mouth and drill the truth out of her.But she beat me to it.“You should go get ready now. Cindy is making breakfast, and the pup is hungry. You don’t want to waste time.”Just as she said that my belly gave a loud rumble.I watched Millie, helpless, as she gave me a triumphant smile. Then I turned to enter the washroom, leaving Millie reveling in her purported victory.“This conversation isn’t over,” I promised in a loud voice as I shut the door behind me.I took a long bath, then found Millie asleep in my bed.How nice, I thought, shaking my head in disbelief. While being as silent as possible, I proceeded to my large dresser to apply my long-abandoned skincare and brush my hair.I took out some slacks and an oversized top, which helped to cover up my baby bump, making it unnoticed.I stared at my outfit in th

  • Her Second Chance Alpha   The Millie Mystery

Sera’s POV“Sera, are you in there? I’m coming in.”I was lost in bitter memories, unable to find my way out, when Millie’s familiar voice sounded from afar off, snapping me back to reality. The familiar velvet colors of my room’s window blinds and the cozy warmth of my enormous bed reminded me I’d moved past the nightmarish events from a few months back.11 months, 2 weeks and 6 days, but who was counting, right?I chuckled warily.Who was I kidding?“Coming in, Millie. I’m in here,” I replied, after checking through my fashionable dressing-table mirror to make sure that there were no signs of tears on my face.Tears I hadn’t even realized were there. The doors burst open and Millie strolled in, looking worried.“What were you up to? I called your name a thousand times and was considering whether to reach out through the mind link or go down to the office to check you there.”Millie threw her hands up in the air in surrender and settled into one of the cozy seats near the small table

  • Her Second Chance Alpha   Marc’s Death

Sera’s POVI remained in a daze as the pack collected the bodies of dead pack members and arranged for their burial. They were buried two days later in the woods, which was home to all shifters. We shifters are the most happy and fulfilled when racing in the woods in our wolf form and one with nature. Therefore, dead shifters were buried right in the woods, which was a gift from the moon goddess, Selene. The ceremony was held at night, with the uninjured pack members in wolf form as a sign of respect to the dead. The Still Moon Pack was going to bury its Alpha that night, and the woods filled with mournful howls.Sometimes during the wee hours of the morning, after remaining clear-eyed throughout the past two nights and not sleeping a wink, my tired body had given in and I’d finally fallen into fitful sleep.I’d woken up to find my claws gone and my eyes back to normal. I’d unknowingly left my half-shifted state. Now, I stood at the edge of the woods, watching as the large procession

Sera’s POV My conversation with Draco at the pack’s office once Millie and Miles had left about the new name of the pack remained at the forefront of my mind as I went around the pack for the rest of the day.Even spending time with the twins and hearing about Ruby’s latest adventures had done nothing to purge my mind of such thoughts.Though we hadn’t been able to come up with a suitable name for the pack, Draco had helped me realise the importance of picking a suitable name for the new pack. We’d keep it on hold for now and focus on getting the packs to accept the new situation and learn to accommodate each other.Which was why I was up even earlier than usual this morning. I lay awake in bed, staring up at the ceiling above my head, lost in thoughts. The window by the right of my queen-sized bed remained open throughout the night, and the tree just beyond the window swayed in the gentle morning air.I sighed as thoughts of today’s meeting streamed into my mind just as the wheels
