Sera’s POV

Millie and Milles moved towards me as the enforcers exited the room.

“The plan seems acceptable. With proper execution, we could attain victory,” Millie said. She reached for my hand and held it in assurance.

I looked towards Miles, who stared back at me. “What do you think?”

“I agree with Millie. It isn’t perfect, but a starting point considering the pack’s situation. It would have a higher chance of succeeding with Amary, though.”

I agreed with Miles. My wolf would have been the much-needed icing on the cake. Amary snorted in my mind. She was still nonchalant about the entire situation, and it was getting on my nerves. A little care would have been sufficient!

My anger cooled and left me with my situation and the realization that I would have to confront it without escape.

“Alpha, the team is ready!”

An enforcer called out to me, interrupting my desolate thoughts. The five minutes was up. It was tim

Sera’s POVBorders of the Still Moon PackThe chirping birds flew away, and rabbits raced into hiding. A sudden noise of breaking branches alerted us to the enemy’s approach. The rhythmic sounds of wolves’ paws hitting the ground drifted into my ears. A glance at the edge of the pack borders revealed Ralf’s fifty-man army. My pulse quickened at the impending battle.Miles signaled to the others to get into position. The enemy was a few minutes from the first trap we’d laid. I recognized Ralf’s medium-sized light brown wolf at the head of the team. Besides him was a menacing, thin black wolf riddled with scars. He had narrow, opaque eyes, which gave him a cunning look. The rest were medium-sized, average-looking-looking, hungry wolves. They looked like they’d not had a full belly for days. The fugitive life involved hiding and living a genuinely pathetic existence. Such wolves were greedy and malicious because of their life experiences.Ra

Sera’s POVRalf continued his endless rants. His rage mounted as the seconds ticked, and he became reckless. I guess having your enemy in the light and you in the dark gave you the upper hand!“I guess you were never ready to take a position as Alpha. Look how the pack has become under your leadership. Come out and battle with me like a true alpha. This is a taint to Aidin’s legacy. Hmph! Your father would be so ashamed of who you’ve become.”I knew Ralf was taunting me, but it was getting to me. The mention of Dad had been the last straw. I clenched my fist with force, and my nails dug into my palm. Blood rushed to my head, and my heart beat in my chest. I couldn’t hear anything over the loud beating of my chest.I extended my claws, and my eyes glowed; my wolf awakened. I wanted so much to rip off his head as smoothly as I did his son’s. Relax, Amary, relax. We couldn’t afford to play his game. He had the advantage in numbers, and we had the adv

The wolf dropped dead with a grunt before me as I panted. My strength left me as I collapsed; I’d gained the upper hand by an inch. I felt a sharp pain in my neck and raised my hand to it. Draco’s POVThe earth rumbled, and a loud growl filled the air as we approached the borders of the Still Moon Pack. Silence, unusual for the Werewoods, hung over the rabbit- and birdless path. The tree branches shook as if startled by a significant force. Chaotic sounds of battle filled the woods as we got closer.“Alpha, it looks like there’s a battle going on up ahead,” Sebastian conveyed through the mind link. My team journeyed toward the Still Moon Pack, fulfilling a council directive. But that wasn’t my only goal. I would meet my mate, the Alpha of the Still Moon Pack, Sera Nerva. We raced forward in wolf form, and dirt flew up in our wake.

Draco’s POV“That’s Sebastian, my Beta, and these are my team of enforcers,” I said with a wave towards Sebastian and the team, ignoring their weird looks. It surprised them to see me so chatty, considering I’d ignored the other alphas who’d tried to get friendly in the other pack we’d visited. But I wasn’t concerned about that. They’d understand in time.“I am Millie, the Beta of the Still Moon Pack. Thanks for lending a hand.”The petite female from before came forward, as my mate had no intention of continuing to entertain me. She was feisty, and I enjoyed it.“This is Miles, the pack’s delta and top enforcer.”I nodded at Miles. A thoughtful expression lingered on his face. He seemed lost in deep contemplation.“You must be tired from your trip. Let’s get you guys settled in the pack

Draco’s POVShe had a tiny and high-pitched voice. The pup had thick chestnut brown hair which curled around her round, chubby face. She studied me with soft green eyes filled with questions. Something about her features was familiar, but I couldn’t place my hand on it.“Ruby, he is the pack’s guest. Come help set the table,” Cindy said, staring at the pup in disapproval.“Are you Sera’s new mate? Would we be getting a little sister?” The pup refused to bulge, and she looked ready to rip out the answers from my throat.I could now link the familiarity of her features with that of my mate. However, her questions brought up question marks of my own. How was this pup related to my mate? Was the whole pack aware of Sera’s new mate?“Ruby!”C

Draco’s POVThe living area erupted in noise as everyone exchanged greetings and settled in for lunch.I glanced at the stairs again, wondering when she would join us. Sera had been a no-show so far. I was getting impatient, and my wolf was getting antsy. Feeling a gaze on me, I glanced up to find Miles watching me closely. He had the same unreadable look as when we first met. His sharpness as a wolf meant he must have detected my scent on my mate. That was surprising because the others were too distracted to notice.I looked away from him and glanced at Sebastian and the rest of my team. They were all enjoying themselves as they dug into their plates. The tantalizing smell of grilled chicken caressed my nostrils, and I turned to attack my plate. I was as famished as the rest at the table.I studied the entire room as I ate.The atmosphere was harmonious, and I noticed

Sera’s POV“In your grand plans, who is going to be the Alpha of this great pack? You know that two alphas cannot handle one pack, right?”I couldn’t keep the sarcasm out of my voice. The Elder all turned to look at Draco, waiting for his response. This question was a tricky one, which was difficult to solve. On one hand, Draco, as a male shifter and acknowledged as the strongest Alpha in the Werewoods, can not be asked to relinquish power to me.It was damned near impossible. As it stood, a majority of the elders on the Council would elect for Draco to assume full authority over the pack.Because I was new, inexperienced and a female. My eyes narrowed as I clenched my fist fight.“Our mate is wonderful, yeah. But, no one, not even someone I like, could Walt in and take what’s mine,” Amary’s voice echoed through my mind, as domineering as ever. For once, I was thankful that we were on the same page.My eyes must have been glowing, for Draco watched me in silence, his attention directe

  • Her Second Chance Alpha   Draco’s Plans

Sera’s POV “I intend to have both packs live as one. However, each one answers to their leaders during the early period. Well, that is until everyone has properly adjusted to the new system. Then, we reform the new pack from top to bottom and then select new leaders.” Draco’s words were as daring as they were shocking. My blood boiled with rage. Does he think the members of both packs would just happily fall in line because he said so? I wasn’t happy with what I was hearing and the fact that the Council was entertaining this idea was inconceivable. I glanced around to find Elder Derek listening with rapt attention and Elder Scent had a contemplative look on him. Elder Selene was nodding as Draco talked, clearly approving his ideas. Louis, impatient as always, was tapping his foot on the ground. His familiar frown plastered across his face as he listened. As Lucian’s uncle, these plans were unfavourable to him, since Lucian had always wanted to bring my pack under his belt. On

  • Her Second Chance Alpha   Draco and The Council

Sera’s POVI turned around in disbelief to find Draco standing at the entrance of the room, looking determined. What was he doing here?He glanced at me with an unreadable expression, and I froze under his scrutiny.I couldn’t meet his eyes and my cheeks grew warm as he examined me from head to toe, his eyes pausing at my belly. He’d heard me admit to carrying his pup, but I couldn’t gauge his attitude.Elder Derek’s voice snapped me out of my daze.“You are the one responsible for the pup, or you are Sera’s mate? Which one is it?”The elders all shared a look of shock. Even Elder Rufus, who’d insisted on keeping mute throughout the meeting, could not hide his expression.“Sera is my mate and the pup in her belly is mine,” Draco declared in the meeting room, his glowing eyes proof that his wolf neared the surface.I watched him in a daze as his dominant pheromones leaked into the air, filling the room.No one had seen that coming.“No wonder you ran here so quickly. Sera’s POV“The Council requests your presence in the audience hall,” the messenger said to me, pointing towards the hall.I was to go in alone, leaving Miles and the guys just outside the meeting hall.“Good luck,” Miles said with a grave look.I took in a deep breath and resigned myself to facing the Council again. After Elder Derek had left me confused with his puzzling look, the other members of the Council had arrived one after another within minutes, and I had been too busy greeting each one to decipher what Elder Derek had been thinking. To my intense relief, the others had been fairly normal, and I’d even exchanged smiles with Elder Selene, the only female among them. That had helped ease my anxiety until Amary had spoken.“Don’t smile too soon. Seems Derek has not informed the others of the contents of the letter against you.”She was the bane of my existence. But now I didn’t even have the strength to worry anymore because I was about to face the Council.I walked into the r

Sera’s POVNightmares plagued me throughout that night and by morning, I was feeling drained of all energy. And by the wee hours of the morning, I’d ended the torture and abandoned all thoughts of sleep. The events of yesterday still felt like a dream. One minute I was happy and having the best time with the twins, the next minute I was getting slapped with a petition and ordered to be sent to the Crescent Hills for interrogation. As I struggled out of bed, the impending summons hung over my head like an executioner’s knife waiting for the big chop. The letter sent by the Council had been as brief as possible and it left a lot to the imagination. And my mind had taken that fact and interwoven different versions of the events taking place in a few hours into my nightmares. So much for getting a good night’s rest. Now I was even more tired than I’d been when I arrived at the Crescent Hills.I desperately wanted to take in some caffeine to snap my mind awake, but I had my growing pup to

  • Her Second Chance Alpha   Crescent Hills

Sera’s POV“When will you be back?” Ruby asked in a subdued voice, staring at me, looking so vulnerable in the oversized sweater she had on.We were saying our goodbyes, and I was about to leave for the Crescent Hills. After making hasty arrangements, we’d decided that Miles and some pack enforcers would accompany me. But I felt uncomfortable leaving the pack with just Millie around.I hoped Max would arrive soon enough to ease some of Millie’s burden. Then, it had been time to say my goodbyes to the pups.I assured them while I was all jumbled up and confused inside.Bill was still fine, but Ruby looked like her world was about to be turned up-side-down. The pup had always been very sensitive to these things.Growing up without their parents made the pups scared of losing any other loved one.“I should be back in a few days’ time. The Council just needs me to give a detailed report on the pack.”That was putting it, but there was no need to scare the pups.I turned to Miles and the

  • Her Second Chance Alpha   Council Summons

Sera’s POVMillie slumped on the table just as a kitchen aide brought her meal in.“I’m just stressed, that’s all. And I have these weird dreams,” she said, giving me a bewildered look. Her words reminded me of my own ‘weird dreams’ I’ve been getting, and I looked away as a blush crept up my cheeks.I asked, “How are things going with the pack? Is that why you’re all stressed?”Worry clouded my features.I didn’t mind handling the pack affairs if Millie and Miles were finding it hard to cope without me.“Oh, no worries. Miles is coping just fine and all I need is to be rid of these weird dreams,” Millie said, in reassurance.“When’s Max going to get back? It has been days since he was supposed to arrive,” I asked with a frown. That was another major concern of mine. Max has been on the road for a while now and he was still nowhere in sight.“Miles said he got held up by an emergency and would arrive another now,” Millie said in reply. With her food untouched, Millie looked lost in tho

  • Her Second Chance Alpha   Picnic

Sera’s POVI was in the pack’s study, trashing paperwork on a sunny afternoon, when the office doors burst open.“What are you doing working so hard on such a hot day?”The familiar voice had me jerking up in surprise. What was Draco doing back here so soon after he’d left?A flutter of butterflies filled my belly and I couldn’t even hide my excitement at seeing him, as a wide grin covered my face. After hours of perusing through countless paperwork, he was a sight for sore eyes.He moved forward, intent on kissing me, and I waited in anticipation.I slid smoothly into his embrace and just as our mouths were about to touch, a tiny shrill voice sounded in my ears.“Sera! Wake up! It’s time for our picnic.” I opened my eyes grudgingly, hold my head at the abrupt noise only to realize I’d been dreaming again.I glanced around, looking for the source of the noise, and frowned at the sight before me.The day wasn’t even bright yet and Ruby was already in my bed, all dressed and ready for

Sophie’s POVMy anxious thoughts calmed now that I knew my next course of action. I was determined to fight for Draco, but how to go about it evaded me.A second-chance mate? The thought of that still baffled me. I mean, who could have imagined? That was almost unheard of in the Werewoods.Just as I’d thought the major obstacle was dead and gone, long out of the way, a new one emerged. But it was unimportant to me because I just needed to get rid of this second-chance just like I did the first-chance.I let out a grim smile at my wordplay.Too bad I didn’t wait to get the full details about her identity. Well, not to worry. It will all be out soon. Then I could attack head-on.Beige snorted at my words, and her excitement coursed through my veins. It’d be nice to watch another one go down, just like the last.It was late in the evening when I made my way back to the pack house, and even the ambiguous glances and stares I received from pack members didn’t faze me.I was a loner in the
