Chapter -7 Alpha's death or the fake vision

There was an icy silence in the room and it went on for minutes. Rizine curled up in fear and stared at the twins in horror. Her lips quivered and her hands trembled, she had to ball them into a fist to try to keep them steady.

Their sudden coldness had her thrown off balance. Just a few minutes ago, she'd thought they were the warmest twins she'd ever come across. And now, this? They were suddenly giving off sinister vibes? How could they switch so quickly?

“Yes, or no, Rizine?“ Milan repeated sternly. It was hard to maintain a poker face but he did. As much as he hated to scare her like this, they had to do whatever to compel her into staying with them. Just until they figure out what it was that had them drawn to her.

“What– but I – “ Rizine couldn't make out any coherent words. But the words laid on the tip of her tongue.

She wasn't a dancer, what she did back there at the club was just putting up a front. Her dance skills were mundane. Just a few basic steps she picked up from the rogue pack. So if they do pay her to become their dancer and find out there was nothing special about her dance skills, they'll wanna kill her for tricking them.

And if she refuses their offer, they're still gonna kill her for going against their wish. It was a no-win situation.

She felt trapped. No matter how hard she thought about it, there was no escaping this in one piece. Whatever decision she makes right now might directly or indirectly lead to her demise. That fact left her terrified and immensely aghast.

”I don't think this is working, dude,“ Kilan said to Milan through the mind-link, “She seems too shaken and terrified. We'll just end up making her scared of us,”

”The point is to get her to stay here, it doesn't matter if she becomes terrified of us. We'll fix that later, as long as she stays,“ Milan said. He wasn't taking any chances. He needed her to stay, even if that meant she became scared of them.

“Hey, don't cry,“ Kilan cooed as he spotted tears rolling down her eyes, “To be honest, we didn't mean it when we said we were gonna kill you if you don't take the offer–“

He merely finished his words when Milan cut him off with a smack on his head.

“Ouch, what did you hit me for?” Kilan whined, rubbing at the spot he was hit.

”You are so stupid,” Milan seethed through the mind-link, “Why would you tell her that?“

“She was in tears. I just wanted to calm her a bit,“

“By telling her we were just bluffing? What good is that gonna be? She's just gonna flat out refuse us now,“

“There has to be another way other than this, I'm sure there's a way to get her to stay without putting her through so many tears,”

”I asked you before and I'm gonna ask you again. You got a better way to convince her into staying? Let's hear it,“ Milan urged him.

“I don't. I just don't think threatening her was doing the trick. That's all,“ Kilan replied with a wince.

Lost in their bickering, they failed to notice the change in Rizine's expression. A low whimper escaped her. Her eyes shot up in a blazing stare, and her shoulders tensed. Her heartbeat increased and she was pale.

She was having flashes of images and at first, she thought it was just her mind playing tricks on her. But it continued. Images, voices, they kept flashing before her eyes, like a trance. She blinked rapidly, trying to put them away. But they wouldn't go away.

They were blurred at first, but then they got clearer. Like a vision. And she almost shrieked as she saw who it was. It was the Alpha from earlier, the father of the twins in front of her. He was running through the woods, like in a chase.

“No– no…” Rizine mumbled repeatedly, shaking her head vehemently and her eyes were tightly shut. She hated what she was seeing and she needed it to stop.

“Hey, are you alright?“ Milan asked, as they finally noticed how weird she was acting.

“No, please stop…“Rizine mumbled again, fighting off the vision. Beads of sweat cascaded down her forehead. Goosebumps caressed her skin in fear. She needed the vision or whatever it was to go away. She was getting terrified by it.

But then she heard grunts of rogues. They were on the Alpha's tail, and the next thing she saw had her going berserk. They had caught up with Alpha Jared and struck the wolfsbane through his heart. Even if it was just a vision, it felt so fucking real.

“No!“ She shrieked, forcing her eyes open and scurrying to her feet. She ran out of the house, heading into the busy streets, and maneuvering her way through like a maniac.

“Shit, what's gotten into her?!“ Milan cussed as they ran after her. She'd taken them by surprise and ran past them like a lunatic.

“Told you threatening her was a bad idea, ” Kilan nudged him as they both raced with fast legs, going after Rizine.

Rizine ran and ran, altering traffic signs and bumping into moving cars, almost getting knocked down by them. With her fast she was going, she probably covered a thousand miles on foot.

Soon, she found the woods and dashed into them. Her bare feet got some thorns piercing through them but she didn't mind for a second. She kept going, and only slowed down when she heard a low, painful grunt. She followed the sound and found Alpha Jared lying almost dead in cold blood.

“Goddess,” She gasped in fright, covering her mouth slightly with her hand. The man was dying, and she should save him. With that thought, she ran to where he lay, knelt beside him, and tried taking out the wolfsbane that was stuck in his heart.

Just like in her vision or whatever that was.

“Rizine! Where the hell are you?!“ She heard the voices of the twins, and then they showed up in front of her.

First, they didn't realize who was lying on the ground. But soon, their gaze went to their dead Father and she could see the terror in their eyes. And for some reason, she felt the need to defend herself. For some reason, she knew they would pin this on her.
