Mark’s POV
“What is all this about Mark?” Kate barged into my office tossing the file in her hand at me. Shelooks livid and I feel so glad to see her in this state.
I stared down at it with a reserved gaze. I have been expecting the outburst. It took her quite long. I sniffed, unfazed. “What do you mean?” “You bastard! You know exactly what you did. Why in the world is the budget for the project cut down so low?” She questioned. “I am not the financial officer. Why ask me such a question?” “Because I was told you would only append your signature if the budget was cut so low.” “Well, I am not going to deny saying it. What I do not understand is what you want from me.” She scoffed looking livid. “How far do you intend to go with this sour attitude? It is understandable if you do not like me. Do you have to drag your father’s business into it?” “Since when have you ever cared about my father’s business? You and I knowKate’s POV“This is bullshit!” I cursed, not minding the fact that I was in the office.Marilyn had a sorry look in her eyes as she held my gaze. “I know this must be a lot for you. I amso sorry.”I scoffed. “Why should you be sorry? You didn’t put me in this position unless, of course, you areworking with Mark against me.”My words were supposed to offend her, but instead, she took it in good strides and only noddedslightly.“I don’t need to pledge to you for the sake of your ego. I don’t play petty.” She replied. With my head bowed, I sighed. “I am sorry. I am just so overwhelmed.”“There would be no need for it if you would just tell Jake about all of this.”“And to what extent? How long do I have to keep running to him? Mark challenged me and I amgoing to do all that it takes to achieve this project no matter what.
Kate’s POV“Do you have anything to prove to us that it isn’t true?” Another board member asked.Something seemed to have gotten stuck in my throat. The file had a report of the budget spenton all of the projects that I have handled in the last two years. The approved board budget wasthere and the amounts were disbursed. On the second page is the money I am accused ofhoarding for myself.“Now that you have seen it, is there something you have to say to defend yourself?” Markinterjected. “Because the field workers are here to defend themselves against your tyrannicalact.”The walls suddenly seemed like it was closing up on me. My breathing was uneven, and everyonehad a mocking expression. I can hear their laughter in my head even though their faces remainedplain. It took me back all over again i can see their phones being held up to capture myembarrassing moments.
Mark’s POVThe room swirled under my feet, pushing me to grab the edge of the table to keep myself steady. My wolf felt restless, I wish I could let myself go and just put a bit of disruption into thecompany. How? How the fuck did Kate slip away this time? What exactly is it that she has on myfather to make him so in tune with her?It can’t be the red hair! Even though it does burn like a cooling fire and can make anyone lost init. It still doesn’t matter. There is a reason he is a bloody old wolf. He is meant to understand lifebeyond its physicality.I growled in discomfort as pain struck the side of my head. My breathing is tangled with difficultyand I just can’t seem to get a grip on myself. The legs wobbled causing me to stagger towards thechairs and fall to the ground.“You are just fooling yourself! Stop lying to yourself!” The voice in my head kept echoing in ataunting tone.
Kate’s POVNothing interested my eyes, my bones ache for a massage and my limbs just want to rest. It’sbeen two days since that doomed meeting with the board and having strange people lie againstme. Since Jake instructed that I continue with the project, I have been keeping late nights just tofind a way out of the disaster lying in wait for me.As for Jake, he seems to want nothing to do with me lately. He is obviously avoiding me and hasbeen returning to the room quite late. I wake up to find the other bed empty and he is alwaysnowhere to be found. He isn’t at the company either. Whenever I call, it goes directly tovoicemail. He is quite determined. But today, I do not intend to back down. I will wait until he is back. Which is why I left workearlier than expected. I can do whatever I need to do from home. The maids all mumbled agreeting and I replied with a grunt. I settled myself on the couch and pro
Kate’s POV“Are you sure this is good enough?” I questioned Bethel while staring the proposal down. She beamed proudly. “I worked on it all through the night. It is definitely good.”I tugged at my hair. She didn’t get the sarcasm. Sometimes I can’t help but think that she mightbe quite slow.I cleared my throat and sat up. “Bethel, my point is, this proposal will have me thrown out of theoffice in no time. This doesn’t cut it out. But you can do better. Why not check it again?” I urgedin a calm tone.Marilyn made her way in with a snort. “You knew she wouldn’t be able to get it right. Yet youhanded it to her.”“Please, Marilyn. A benefit of the doubt. Let her be.” I said, noticing Bethel’s crestfallen face. “Gorephrase it and let me see what you have. Remember that proposal on the new project? You canuse that as a re
Kate’s POVJake and Marilyn were laughing hard as I narrated my ordeal with Miguel.I stomped my feet glaring at them. “That is not funny.”“Why not?” Jake asked. “My dear, we expected it to happen. Why didn’t you?”“You are my husband for crying out loud. Why would you even say something like that?” Iwhined.“Tell her Marilyn.” He urged.Marilyn stared at me still grinning. “You are a beauty to behold. He would be a fool to not atleast try to get to you.”“I am married and he still asks me on a date.” I insisted.I just couldn’t believe the audacity of the Alpha. It had me in shock all through the ride that Ididn’t bother to return to work and went to meet Marilyn where she had joined Jake to play golf.As expected Jake didn’t look any surprised that I got asked out. My wolf seemed to be enjoyingthe ta
Kate’s POVWhen Alpha Miguel said he would make sure that I do not feel unsafe wherever we are to meet.I didn’t expect he would rent out an entire restaurant for us. This only makes me feel moreparanoid. His car had come to pick me up as promised and to avoid giving the maids somethingto gossip about. I met the driver halfway as soon as he informed me he was near.I blinked at the exquisite design of the space. Isn’t this too much for a mere date?“Why? Don’t tell me you aren’t used to things like this.” He cut into my train of thought.I coughed in shock. I didn’t realize I had spoken out loud. “It is not about what I am used to. It iswhat the people will end up saying.”Miguel shrugged. “I did this because you didn’t want to be seen in public. Would you havepreferred my manor?” There was a twinkle in his eyes.I rolled my eyes, refusing to let him get to me. I was about to ask what we might be eating whena group of waiters pushed towards us with trolleys of different delicacie
Mark’s POVI watched as she came undone from orgasm. A slight smirk pulled at my lips making my wolf andI feel proud. Body fluid smell filled up the four corners of the office. Standing up, I adjusted mytrousers and headed to the washroom to get my hands cleaned up. By the time I returned, shewas fully clothed.I sniffed returning to my chair. “Are you sure about this information?” I questioned staring downat the image in disbelief. She snorts. “Do you think I would ever lie to you? I have no reason to do so. Take it from me, youwon’t get this apt information from anyone else as it is kept away from the public. I wasn’t sureof what use it would be for you. Still, I just had to bring it, just in case you really do need it.”“That is very thoughtful of you,” I said, reaching for my phone to make a transaction. “I just sentyou some money. Enjoy yourself this weekend
Dame’s POV“This looks quite fancy.” My wolf drawled in a mocking tone. A satisfied smirk appeared on my face as I got out of the car feeling good. I have never been in the Diamond pack before. This happens to be a first and it is the most joyous moment for me too. Caressing my jacket, I walked towards the building. Not sure which floor I am headed to just yet, but I am certain all I need to say is the name. Saw a pretty lady and asked her where Mark Mccatty’s office might be. She directed me and I went straight to business, ignoring the urge to ask for her contact. Got on the el
Kate’s POVI have always prided myself in being courteous, but today I am throwing all of the damned rules in the wind. I didn’t care that Charles' secretary might end up losing her job as I barged into his office rudely. He had some people with him who had to leave on my insistence. “What’s going on, Kate?” He asked like he wasn’t the one who orchestrated the problem at hand. I fished out my phone with fidgety hands. Didn’t let that deter me as I tapped on the blog link Bianca shared with me and put it in his face. He stared at me like I had just blasphemed.
Kate’s POV“What in the world is this?” Karen blurted. My eyes almost popped out of their sockets as I tried hard to process the view in front of me. How did this get out? Who would make such spiteful remarks about me? What I can’t process is how the picture got to the media in the first place. As if it wasn’t fair enough that they claimed Charles Sanders and I are dating. Some headlines said the project we are working on must have been gotten because I was sleeping with Charles. Pictures of us kissing filled the entire tabloids. This wouldn’t have been worrisome if I was just by myself and didn’t just confess to Mark not too long ago how much he means to me. I hate being in the face of everyone. It doesn’t seem right that I have to constantly get judged by people who know nothing about me. I gasped as the reality hit me. Did Charles know I was going to turn him down, so he kept this image to spite me?“He wouldn’t dare to do that.” My wolf interjected. “What if he did?” I mouthed
Kate’s POV“How long do I have to wait for this dress to be ready?” I asked Karen whose head was buried in a pile of fabric. She raised her head to glare at me. “You make it seem like I just need to go into the kitchen and make the goddamn meal it's not food, Kate. It’s a dress not noodles, big head.” She hissed, punching at the pile and screaming into it. “I can’t do this anymore, Kate. I am going to lose my mind.” I chuckled at her silliness, chewing on the chips in my hand, “What have you so tired? I thought Bianca was helping out?”
Mark’s POV“You are such a lover boy.” My wolf teased me. I smiled shyly at the image on my screen, scrolling through the many goofy pictures Kate decided to take on my phone. She is such a silly goose. Always leaves me with something to remind me I am loved by her. It’s been rough in the last two weeks with Davina’s issues and all. However, after spending just a day with Kate, every worry that I felt faded away. There is no doubt that she is my peace now and forever. If I hadn’t so choked on my deadline, I would have stayed back at that hotel with her and spent an en
Kate’s POV“Hey, mama.” Mark cooed at me as he got out of the car. I jumped into his arms, squealing like a child. “Baby, it’s so good to see you.” He wrapped his arms around my waist kissing me passionately. “I am so happy to see you too. Don’t need to ask if you miss me. It’s obvious you do.” I hit his chest playfully. “Don’t get so cocky.”
Kate’s POV“Do you have a death wish? What is it with you consistently catching me off guard?” I roared, breathing heavily. My claws were out ready to tear at him for taking advantage of me the second time. I hate how he is using my feelings against him. Even if I did turn to mush in Charles's arms the last time. What fucking right does he have to lock lips with me again without my consent? He tastes like whiskey. Obviously been drinking before he drove all the way down here. Charles placed a hand on his hurting cheek and stuttered. “I. I am sorry. I didn’t mean to get at you like that. I was just eager to show my affection.” He mused. “Affection? What affection doesn’t require consent? Did you ask me before deciding on something like that? I let the first one slide. But this is definitely assault. Why are you even here at this time of the day?” I questioned. “I have been trying to reach you and you haven’t been responding.” “Doesn’t that mean I do not want to speak to you? What
Author’s POVThe line got disconnected again for the umpteenth time. Charles was beginning to lose his patience and he could feel frustration seeping in. The kiss they had that day made him very certain that Kate was eventually going to fall right into his arms. It’s not as if she is married. They even met up about two times to eat out. But to his surprise, she has been avoiding both his calls and texts for a while now. The one that made it most evident was at the business conference where she practically took off with her friend.“You should let it go now. She probably doesn’t want you.” His wolf said.“But I want her,” Charles replied. He could never really get pissed at Kate. She intrigues him. Makes him want to consistently be a better version of himself. That is a rare find amongst the many she-wolves he has met in his life. No one comes close to Kate. Also, he really needs her for the sake of his company’s image. Someone of Keate’s status who doesn’t have any dent in her persona
Kate’s POVLois yawned like he had plans to rip my head off. I gave him a disinterested look, “can you stop doing that? We are in a public space.” I mumbled, looking around the space like someone would come to question us. He made a face, unremorseful. “Oh, please. Like they do not yawn. I am tired of this setting. I want to go home.” He whined. “Why? I thought you were enjoying the meal. It's a nice conference.” I urged in a taunting tone. “Spare me that nonsense talk, all I want to do is have a good sleep. I have been roaming around for ages. I deserve the best of rest.” “Aww, baby.” I cooed, caressing his face. “You have worked so hard. I am sorry for putting you through this much stress.” Lois snickered. “Like you are truly sorry.” “But I am.” “If you are you wouldn’t go ahead to a resort while I was busting my ass off for the company.” “Why are you being so dramatic? You act like the restaurant wasn’t a five-star and you didn’t get paid extra for working so hard.” “Well
