Kate’s POV

“This is an amazing report, Mr Lance. I am quite impressed at how much you have dedicated yourself to this project. Makes me relaxed because I know I can count on you.” I said to him.

He blushed shyly. “I hope I always get to meet up to your expectations. If you didn’t give me another chance, I probably wouldn’t be here. So thank you for thinking me worthy enough.”

I nodded with a smile. “You are an amazing person that should be paid attention to. I know it must have been a tough time for you having to deal with so much. But I am most glad that you didn’t up and leave.”

“Still have you to thank for that.” He grinned.

“You are welcome. So let me just approve this and then you let me know about the rest.” I said.

Lance got the document back and left. Karen walked in afterward. I didn’t pay her much attention and just focused on the laptop screen.

She dragged out a chair for attention and when she got none, she huffed. “How can you go quiet on us like that Kate? You really nee

Kate’s POVIf persistence was a person, then it would be Charles. The way he has been pushing for us to meet and talk is crazy. I thought he would head to my response after I told him off at his event. But he still pleaded for us to meet. This must be how he made it in the business world. Pushing for something he believes in and now I find myself falling for that part of him that just wouldn’t give up.Slamming my bag on the table, I flared my nose at him. “What exactly are you aiming at Charles? Don’t you get tired?”Charles glanced around the restaurant. “Please sit down. Don’t raise your voice, it will draw attention to us.” He said in a hushed tone.I wanted to tell him that I don’t care what anyone says, but I was forced to sit my ass down when my wolf reminded me of the many things that could go wrong.“Why are you stressing me out, Charles?” I asked genuinely tired of this back and forth. He sighed, “I have told you before, Kate. You aren’t just anyone to me. You are someone th

Mark’s POV“How is he?” Marilyn asked after Carl was next to me. We were standing by the garden while Carl sketched from a distance.I didn’t know exactly how to answer the question. It’s been a rough couple of weeks for both of us. Two weeks felt like two months. Carl is really having a hard time pushing through his creative block. Even when I tell him the painting is coming out nicely. He doubts me and cancels it out right on the spot and we are back to square one. I have almost lost my temper many times, but I stayed patient. Reminding myself that I knew this would happen.“Is it that hard to answer?” She pressed on.“Sort of. He is driving me crazy. Went out yesterday, and partied in his usual way. Only to return with a cut on his hand. He got into a fight. He is acting like a child of mine.”Marilyn laughed at that. “I bet he is. Or he just enjoys you doting over him.”“I bet he does.”“I have something to tell you, Mark. Can we take a little walk?”“Sure.”There was a brief sile

Kate’s POV“You look good!” Her wolf commented. The dress looked nice on me. Black and chic as I wanted it to be. Karen is going to go beyond with her skills and I am going to be here for it. She made me the dress and still doubted her prowess. At this point, I do not mind opening up the fashion house right this minute. I glanced at the time on my phone and quickly got to finishing up with my dressing. Charles would be here any minute from now and I want to be ready before he does.Checking myself out in the mirror, I smirked proudly. He would go nuts when he saw me. Karen was in the living room chewing on a large bowl of popcorn with her eyes glued to the TV when I stepped out. I got in her face twirling.“How do I look?” I asked, wiggling my shoulders. She snorted. “You look good. Can you get out of my face now?”“Hell no! I need you to see just how much glow I have on.” She sighed, staring at me with some obvious questions in her eyes. I huffed, well aware of what was running throu

Author’s POVCharles could sense the discomfort from Kate. One of his wolf abilities is being able to read past people’s expressions. The moment they stepped towards the table and he found Charlotte sitting regally he knew it was going to be a tough night. His mother knew clearly that he was bringing Kate to the house. After the misunderstanding, they had over Matilda’s unexpected harassment. He wanted to show her just how much she meant to him by bringing her to the midst of those who matter to him. However, his intentions seemed to have been ruined. Kate definitely felt the energy at the table. She barely touched her dessert and didn’t say much after the dinner and it was time to leave.“Would you like some more desserts to compliment the one you didn’t eat?” He asked trying to lighten the mood.Kate smiled tightly, shaking her head. “No. I am fine.”“How was dinner?”“Not bad.”Her responses were enough to tell him tonight was a disaster. It seems like everyone is out to ruin the

Kate’s POV“Kate, you still haven’t talked about the dinner you went to yesterday.” Karen reminded me as we sat on Lois' rooftop with Lois and Bianca chewing on chips and beer.I groaned inwardly. I expected she was going to eventually ask questions. But I hoped it would be just between us and not end up pulling Lois into it. He will bite my ear off now.I threw her a hard glare, scrunching up my nose. “Why are you always eager to throw me under the bus?” I questioned and she let her tongue out at me in response.“What are you two talking about?” Lois asked.Karen giggled, “Kate went with Charles yesterday to eat dinner with the family.”“Wow, Kate! You and Charles again.” He noted, taking a gulp of his beer.I pouted with an eye roll. “It’s not even that deep. I should have just stayed back home. That family is nothing to write home about. Oh my goodness, even if I was destined to be with Charles. I will take flight at the first association with the family. They are moving crazy.” I

Mark’s POVI stared in awe as Davina moved with gait around the showroom putting the attires together and taking pictures of them. When we got talking she let me know she was a fashion stylist. She works for a couple of celebrities. Creating outfits for fashion shows and photoshoots. I have seen the way she puts things together and it is super impressive. I have always known her to be resourceful which makes it a proud moment to see how much she is doing. It’s been a month since we reconnected at the club and got talking. But we haven’t met physically due to busy schedules. I don’t know what it is, but it almost feels as if old flames are rekindling. It's a dangerous thing to tend towards and I know it wouldn’t last. At the same time, after a long time, I find myself wanting to engage in some flirty engagements just for the fun of it.“Won’t you be going too far engaging her?” My wolf asked.“It is just talking. Don’t get ahead of yourself.” I replied, snorting. Kate is the only one I

  • Her Revenge, His Regret    Chapter 295

Kate’s POV Charles sat still in front of me. His eyes followed every move of mine. At this point, I do not find whatever he is doing fanciful. His presence is suffocating the hell out of me. After the dinner saga, I was determined to forget about it. I bumped into Denise at a spa house. She had come with her friends and despite how old those witches were they still couldn’t hold themselves back from making snide comments about me. She didn’t even try to respect the fact that I was a friend of her son. It became clear to me the reason why she was so against me. She thinks I killed Jake and thought it ridiculous that someone of my age is allowed to run a multimillion-dollar company. She decided to put all of my hard work down and called me a pest. I didn’t expect a woman of such status would stoop that low to play that sort of game. I wanted to tell her exactly what I thought about her. Knowing she might end up committing suicide, I had to hold myself back. No one will remember what sh

Mark’s POV “This tastes so good, Marilyn.” I hummed, chewing on the creamy doughnut she made. Marilyn seemed to have tapped into her chef side now that she no longer works at the company and lives by herself. Always cooking something and bringing it to the house for us to eat. We are like the lab rats but I can’t even complain because every meal hits hard and the leftovers barely last the next day. Carl and I end up feasting on it in the middle of the night. Carl tsked at me. “You have the entire cream as a mustache.” “And you?” I pointed at the one on his nose and cheek. “How exactly do you chew?” Marilyn chuckled as she grabbed a tissue to help us wipe at the cream on our faces. She had a loving expression on her face as she stared at us. “It is so nice watching you boys eat my meals with so much gusto makes me want to do more.” “Please keep it up, mama. It’s how you never made us this much meal when you were here.” Carl commented. She smiled shyly and I came to her rescue. “T

Kate’s POVLois yawned like he had plans to rip my head off. I gave him a disinterested look, “can you stop doing that? We are in a public space.” I mumbled, looking around the space like someone would come to question us. He made a face, unremorseful. “Oh, please. Like they do not yawn. I am tired of this setting. I want to go home.” He whined. “Why? I thought you were enjoying the meal. It's a nice conference.” I urged in a taunting tone. “Spare me that nonsense talk, all I want to do is have a good sleep. I have been roaming around for ages. I deserve the best of rest.” “Aww, baby.” I cooed, caressing his face. “You have worked so hard. I am sorry for putting you through this much stress.” Lois snickered. “Like you are truly sorry.” “But I am.” “If you are you wouldn’t go ahead to a resort while I was busting my ass off for the company.” “Why are you being so dramatic? You act like the restaurant wasn’t a five-star and you didn’t get paid extra for working so hard.” “Well

  • Her Revenge, His Regret    Chapter 339

Mark’s POVMy strength was thinning out as I kept going like I was on some sort of hunt. I have been running for miles now and I can’t even tell how long it's been out of here. My wolf whined in pain, no longer interested in my persistence. I would love to stop, but my head isn’t in the right state and I just want to keep going until there is a possible chance of me passing out. I still do not know what to do with Davina. Her situation makes me keep thinking about how gullible I might have been towards her and I am more angry at Carl for continuously beating around the bush. If he had just told me straight up the many reasons he doubted her stay in the house. Instead, he was acting like the world would crash down on him if he said something. My wolf snickered. “Would you have accepted his words for it? Just admit that you are obsessed with looking after Davina.” I swallowed hard, halting in my steps. I felt dizzy at the blood that rushed through my head. It’s hard to explain why I

  • Her Revenge, His Regret    Chapter 338

Mark’s POVThe content of the file made my head swirl continuously. You think you know someone only to realize you know nothing at all. I don’t know which I would have preferred to be kept in the dark about Davina’s true tales or to know about them. I had kept the file away from me for an entire week before I could summon the courage to open it. Maybe because I knew I was going to find something that would incriminate her. Now that I have read through the entire content, I am vividly mad that she took me for a ride. It would have been better if she lied just about her divorce. One would understand her desperation to be away from the guy. I shut my eyes tightly, hitting my head against the chair. What am I supposed to do?“You know exactly what to do, Mark. Stop asking questions like you aren’t aware of how much risk this could bring to your life and business. Are you just going to let her move around freely despite everything that you have just discovered?” My wolf sounded displeased

  • Her Revenge, His Regret    Chapter 337

Kate’s POVWho would have thought meeting with Charlotte would yield so much? I was expecting a fight and also to just put an end to the bullshit Charles intended threatening me at every chance they get. We aren’t children, so it makes no sense to keep doing stupid things. “And who says adults aren’t allowed to be stupid?” My wolf queried. “You know exactly what I am talking about.” I retorted. She grumbled in response. I wasn’t surprised when I got home to find Karen and Bianca at the house working on a dress. They could have done that at the store, instead for the sake of hearing a gossip, they came all the way home. “Spill it already.” Karen blurted unable to remain patient. Bianca looked up at me. “Is your hair still intact? I bought glue just in case you might need it.” She said with a calm expression you would think she is really looking out for me.” “Go to hell.” I retorted, taking off my shoes and joining them on the rug with my arms spread out like my life had been gutt

  • Her Revenge, His Regret    Chapter 336

Kate’s POVI shouldn’t be here. I should not be found in this fucking space! But here I am. When would I really get over this moment that keeps revolving around Charles? It’s as if I am glued to keep doing things that I would regret. Here I am seated with Charlotte trying to discuss why I am with her intended man. I actually accepted this invitation because I am thoroughly bored and I could do with the entertainment. Karen is waiting back home to hear what we have been discussing. “Why are we seated here Charlotte? I have a lot of work to do. Coming out here is taking too much time out of my schedule already.” “Is that so? Because from the way you gallivant around town with Charles, you don’t seem too busy.” She replied. I chuckled at her words. “Really? Are you keeping tabs on every one of his moves? Shouldn’t you be exhausted at this point? Constantly chasing after a man who doesn’t pay much attention to you is not a good trait for a woman who prides herself so high. Or wait, is

  • Her Revenge, His Regret    Chapter 335

Mark’s POV“Is this some sort of a joke, Mark?” Clara questioned. I sniffed, adjusting myself on the chair while Carl spread his legs out going all serious on his sketchbook. I hate it when he leaves me to deal with my mess in cases like this when he really should be helping me out. But then, I brought this upon myself. I didn’t realize a sudden meet-up would be required just because I mentioned to Clara that she would need to offer Davina a bit of help in her career line. We have been at it for almost three days which is quite draining. I thought it was just a one-call thing and that would be it. Now Davina would think that I was just bluffing to her. Clara has been a major part of Carl’s career and life since our college days and pops up in mine once in a while. Being a designer who mixes art with fashion, she made sure to keep Carl close even when we weren’t all a big deal yet. Our communication isn’t every time because of her busy schedule. Always flying around packs. We also de

  • Her Revenge, His Regret    Chapter 334

Mark’s POVI yawned recklessly as the hunger hit me a bit more. This is part of the disadvantage of not eating on time. I didn’t even know when I fell asleep. It was a long day. Only for me to wake up in the middle of the night feeling super hungry. I thought it was morning when my eyes were wide open. But it turned out to be just a bit past twelve. Dragging my feet down the stairs with its light, I was about to turn towards the kitchen when I heard someone sobbing. My ears perked at the sound. Who could it be? Using my nose to sniff out the person’s scent and ear to fish out the location of the sound since there was no light on. I was shocked to find Davina seated on the floor with her arms wrapped around her. The first thing I did was to put on the light before I sat next to her to ask what was happening. Seeing her face clearly, I felt sad for her. Her eyes were swollen from the constant tears. “Are you alright, Davina? Why are you crying?” I asked, caressing her back slowly. S

  • Her Revenge, His Regret    Chapter 333

Mark’s POVMy legs didn’t seem to have an actual life in them as I kept dragging them around the room. These boys can be so annoying when it comes to putting them to work. They had no business in hurting Davina’s ex-husband. He was just supposed to be arrested, read the charges against him, and locked up for good. But they just had to shoot at him. Chances are his legs will never be the same again. “Why are you feeling so restless? It’s not as if you went to shoot the dude yourself.” Carl stated in his nonchalant tone. I wouldn’t expect him to understand my dilemma since he is so hellbent on hating Davina and everything around her. Just when I was about to give me a piece of my mind, the door opened letting in Davina. I gulped hard, blinking slowly at her. She had this strange expression on her face that had me worried already. “What was that you were telling me on the phone, Mark?” She asked coolly. I exhaled a shaky breath. “Davina, the thing is….” “Your ex-husband was shot.” C

  • Her Revenge, His Regret    Chapter 332

Kate’s POVMy soul left my body for real as the pain sizzled through my scalp the first thing that came to my thoughts was that I was finally getting caught by one of Charles's women. My friends already stood up with their wolves on the surface, only for my eyes to meet with the assailant and it appears she got the wrong person. The lady dropped my hair like it scaled her hands as she gasped loudly with a hand to her mouth. “Oh my goodness! Miss, I am so sorry. I thought you were the lady I was searching for. She has red hair just like yours and came in here.” What! To think I just lost a lot of blood right now thinking my life has finally reached its end. Just then the lady she was looking for indeed ran out of the restaurant. My assailant didn’t even bother to wait to find out if I forgave her or not before she bolted after her victim. Even in my state I already feel sorry for the red-haired lady. Because unless she gets saved by a miracle. She wouldn’t be getting out of that cl
