I smirked at him as he looked from me to Mora. She looked like she wanted to kill me and I would be dead if looks could kill.

“Well, she is not your fated mate is she? So obviously she has a mate. Do you think that she doesn’t already know who that is?”

There was gasps and silence around us as I could see everyone was shocked that old Isla could stick up for herself against the mighty alpha. He was a fool to think that I would sit and take any shit.

Being at Eclipse had made me stronger, the training I had every day. My uncle Ed took no laziness, there was no room for slacking. We all did our bit and worked our arsed off.

Alpha Miller was nothing compared to the Eclipse.

“Well, are you going to let her speak to me and you like that. In front of the pack?” Mora practically shouted causing Alpha Miller to growl. “And why is Amanda out of bed? Should you not be resting since your mate ordered the alpha to make sure that you did not cause anymore drama to yourself of the

  • Her Rejection, His Regret    Chapter Ten

It did not take long for me to find my mother, she was laying in her human form sprawled out naked by the stream. I immediately howled in distress and shifted back to my human form. Not caring that I was now naked and sensed that he had followed me. I rushed to my poor mother and started to cry because I was scared. What if she died? She was barely breathing and looked like she had been attacked since she was covered in cuts that looked fresh. “Isla, please allow me to help. This is my fault.” he sighed and I could see that he meant well but that did not mean I was about to give him any chance of hope with me. “Here.” he suddenly went behind a huge oak tree. I wondered what he was doing when he reappeared with a bundle of clothing. He was also dressed in a tracksuit bottoms and white plain top. “What is this?” I frowned and took the clothing that he was holding out to me. It was two dresses and some clean underwear. I glanced up at him and raised

“Where am I? What happened to me?” Our mother tried to sit up as her eyes fluttered open. She looked around the room, dazed and then the panic set in. “Why am I here? What is going on?” She started to pull at the tubes and wires off her while Cora called for the doctor. In a few moments, the pack doctor and a couple of nurses had calmed mother down with a sedative since she was freaking out and disturbing the other patients. “Your mother needs to rest now for a bit. Once she is awake, we will call for you.” The doctors said and I agreed. She would be a bit better once she had slept it off. Cora and I walked out of the pack hospital to get some fresh air and discuss what we would do next since Daniel was not coming back and if Uncle Ed head about this, he would demand I return. I could not leave my family here at Pembroke again. My mother was broken, and my sister would have nobody else since goddess knows where our father was. Not that I would want to see him.

“Is there something you need to say?” My father roared angrily my way causing Cora to tremble and lower her gaze to the ground. I wrapped the huge dressing gown around me that Aly appeared with. She quickly scuttled off without even looking at me. They were afraid of my father. He was nothing. Who did he think that he was? “What could I possibly need to say?” I bit back refusing to allow this piece of shit to make me submit. He had no power over me. I did not see him as my father any longer, he did not deserve any respect from me. His eyes flashed and his warning growl told me that he was not impressed by my response to him. I did not care. He was not going to come back here and bark out orders to me like he had done nothing wrong. My mother was inside that hospital, all because of him. He did not give a toss about any of us. I had no clue as to why he was back here. “What are you doing back here?” I demanded to know. Ignoring the shocked gasps from everyo

“Isla, you cannot leave. Your mother has just passed away.” Alpha Miller came rushing into the room in a right state. My sister started to scream horrible ear piercingly. I felt numb. My mother was gone! That was all his fault. “Your father wants to speak to you. He wants to explain.” Alpha Miller tried to convince me, but no. No way. Why should I give that murderer the time of day after what he had just done? This was all his fault. If he had never done what he had done, then this would never have even happened. I did not want to see him. “No, Miller. I do not wish to see him. You know, as you’re not my alpha, you cannot force me to do anything he says.” I pointed out solemnly. Alpha Miller sighed and nodded. He knew that I was right in what I was saying. Cora was crying her heart out, and I went to hug her. She was still my sister, and I felt awful that our mother had died. But I could not stay here and be around him. I hated him. “Get me

“Are you ok back there, Isla?” Simon glanced at me from the rear-view mirror. I pursed my lips together and nodded. I was going to be simply fine. My mother was free from pain now and my father. I could not help but feel a little relieved that she was at peace. Uncle Ed would have been told about mother by now and I hoped that he knew that I was on my way back to Eclipse. That place was my home. I had never felt at home at Pembroke. The thought of seeing Zara soon made me smile and I looked out of the window at the trees and open road. It would not be long. We drove in silence most of the way there until Simon decided that it was an enjoyable time for a quick pit stop but I think he secretly craved the idea of a greasy fry up as much as I did. “Excuse me, Miss?” I turned around in my seat to see a young woman around thirty years old sitting alone and smiling but she was staring at Simon like he was the only one that she could see. He looked up at imm

Simon slammed on the brakes, forcing me forward and smacking my head into the back of the front passenger seat. “What the hell are you doing?” I yelled angrily as soon as I had managed to regain control of myself. Jennifer was sitting in the front with Simon. I noticed that she was gripping her seat and staring right ahead. Tears were falling down her cheeks, but she was silent. “Jennifer, is everything ok?” I gasped, reaching forward to check on her. Simon punched the steering wheel so hard and cursed loudly. Turning his attention to Jennifer and me, he growled. “Did you not see that fool pulling out in front of us? No indication. Nothing?” He spoke. I looked up, and that was when I saw a vast black Jeep with tinted windows in front of us, blocking the way. “Jennifer, do you know them?” I questioned, suddenly wondering if they were after her. When she did not respond, I shrugged at Simon and rubbed my forehead thoughtfully. Simon was furious and I frowned.

“You there! Get your filthy mitts off, my mate, before I rip you to tiny little shreds.” He roared, and a shiver of excitement rippled through my body. I could not believe what was happening. Was I dreaming? “This can not be happening,” Miller grumbled, but I heard him. I felt this satisfying buzz overwhelm me, and it was so good. Miller looked devastated to see I had been blessed with a second chance, mate. Well, he did a rubbish job of being my first chance mate. He did me a favour, really, and so did Mora. Without them, I would never have met this absolute hunk. “Oh my goddess!” Zara slapped her mouth with her hand in astonishment, causing me to look her way with an excited grin. “The Lycan King Max is your mate.” It sounded so good. Miller stood out of the way, and I stood face to face with a second chance mate. “You are magnificent, and you are mine.” He reached for me and spun me around before grabbing my

“Good to see you again, Isla. I see you have met King Lycan Max.” My uncle Ed gave me a nod and walked off in the opposite direction. I watched him go, feeling confused. Why did he seem so off? That was not like him at all. Max was still staring at me like he wanted to pounce and claim me. “I need to finish discussing some important things with your uncle. Would you accept my apologies and allow me to take you out to dinner?” He bowed down to me, took my hand and kissed it gently. Then looked up at me with a smile on his face. Goddess he was so handsome, and I could not even bring myself to say no to him. Why would I want to? How could anyone want to freely turn him down when he looked so good, so delicious and oh goddess I was going to lose my mind over this male. Cleo was so happy that we had been blessed with such a lovely looking second chance mate. He seemed so different compared to Miller. In so many ways. He was nothing like that shame faced loser.

Luke pov The black wolf snarled, his eyes narrowing with fury as he calculated his next move. We were no longer just a pack of wolves; we were a force of nature, an unquenchable flame ignited by our collective resilience and unity. With every heartbeat, the anticipation surged through us, amplifying each flicker of power as we stood against him, determined to banish the darkness that had haunted the edges of our lives. “Enough!” he roared, charging at me, the darkness pooling around him in a furious torrent. I could feel the malevolence radiating off him like heat from a fire, trying to instil fear within our hearts. Yet, as he bore down on me, I could see the uncertainty behind that ferocity. He was no longer the predator; he was desperate. “Together!” I shouted again, urging my pack to rally. Carrie and Ryder poured their strength into the barrier of light that Rachel had conjured, reinforcing it as we prepared for his assault. As the black wolf lunged toward me, time seeme

Luke pov As the shadows slowly began to release their grip on me, an instinctive anger ignited within, burning hotter than the darkest depths of the void that had threatened to swallow me whole. All around, I could sense my pack gathering strength—Carrie’s fierce determination, Ryder’s unyielding loyalty, and Rachel's frightened yet resolute presence in the corner of my mind. Our shared bond pulsed like a heartbeat, commanding me to fight back.“You think you can break free?” the black wolf taunted, his voice echoing through the night like thunder. “This realm belongs to the darkness now!”Ignoring his bravado, I focused on the shared energy radiating from my packmates. Each heartbeat was a reminder of what we stood to lose. We were more than just a collection of wolves—we were a family woven together by our struggles, victories, and unbreakable bonds. “Together!” I shouted, pulling every ounce of strength from my soul and feeling the power surge to the surface. “We won’t give in!”

As we pulled away from the embrace, I felt the weight of our previous argument still hanging in the air. I could see that a cautious acceptance was slowly replacing my mother's worry, but I couldn't shake the feeling that something more sinister was lurking beyond our immediate concerns. We gathered the rest of the pack for an emergency meeting, each member looking apprehensive. The day's events had spread like wildfire, and now everyone was on edge. I stood before them, clearing my throat to capture their attention.“I know today was a close call,” I began, my voice steady despite the adrenaline rush still coursing through me. “But we are stronger than we realise. The rogues won’t just back off easily. They will come again, and when they do, we need to be prepared.”Ryder stepped forward, his eyes flashing with intensity. “I suggest we step up patrols immediately. We’ve already started gathering everyone for a watch rotation. We can’t let them have the upper hand.” The pack murmured

Luke’s POV As we stood there, the rogues slowly backing away, Carrie's voice echoed through the cave. I could sense her power building, knowing she was getting angry. Her eyes were blazing with fierce determination, and I could see the wolves within her starting to stir."You're not taking anyone else from my pack," she growled, her voice low and menacing.Ryder, still in his wolf form, let out a snarl, and I could feel the hairs on the back of my neck stand on end. The two remaining rogues took another step back, their eyes darting between us.I took a step forward, my power growing in response to Carrie's. "You're not going to hurt anyone else," I said, my voice firm. The rogues hesitated for a moment, then turned and ran. We let them go, knowing that they wouldn't be able to escape for long. We had won this battle, but we knew that there would be more to come.I glanced over at Ryder, who was still in his wolf form. He was panting heavily, his eyes still burning with anger. I coul

Luke’s pov We returned to the pack, exhausted but determined. Our parents were already there, discussing the situation with the other pack members. "I think we should split our pack into smaller groups and patrol the surrounding areas," my father suggested. "We need to catch these rogues off guard and take them down before they can do any more harm." I nodded in agreement. "I think that's a good idea, father. But we also need to come up with a plan to protect Carrie. She's the key to this whole thing." Carrie looked up at me, her eyes still flashing with anger. "I don't need protection," she growled. "I can take care of myself." But I knew that wasn't true. The rogues were too strong, too cunning. She needed our help to stay safe. Even if she was powerful and able to beat anyone down. We still needed to protect her as she got used to her powers and understood them better. Ryder suddenly stepped forward. "I'll stay with her," he said. "We'll keep her safe, no matter wha

Luke’s POV “Rachel, go fetch my parents,” I yelled as she ran to alert my pack. Carrie and Ryder remained with me. I wouldn't let anything happen to her, and as the future alpha, I had to stand my ground. “What do you want from this pack? Why don't you leave and never return? You're not welcome here.” I growled as the prominent rogue leader finally stood before us. He eyed me curiously before a cunning smirk formed on his face. “You came to the city. Your sister came after you. She was nice enough to leave her portal open so we could return here. What we want is behind you.” he answered gruffly. I glanced to my side and realised that he was referring to Carrie. He wanted Carrie. All this was about my sister. “We have been searching for her for many years now. You see, she isn't like any of you. She isn't one of you.” he explained, and I felt my sister tremble with confusion behind me. “You're not taking her anywhere. She's my mate.” Ryder snarled, and I held him

Luke pov Luke pov I stood frozen, my eyes fixed on the retreating figures of Carrie and her new mate. My mind was racing with questions and concerns. Who was this guy? What pack was he from? What was his story? And what did he have to do with my sister? My mother's words echoed in my mind - "stop her". But I knew it was too late. Carrie was determined to follow her heart, regardless of anyone else's thoughts. And as much as I wanted to protect her, I knew that trying to stop her would only push her further away.I turned back to my parents, who stared at me with worry and despair. My father's expression was etched with concern, while my mother's face was wet with tears."Luke, please," she said, her voice shaking. "You have to talk to her. Make her see reason."I shook my head, feeling a pang of guilt. I wanted to believe there was still a way to turn back the clock, to make Carrie see that this guy wasn't good enough for her. But deep down, I knew it was too late."She's made up he

Carrie’s POV I could feel the weight of my parents' disapproval bearing down on me as we walked away from them. I knew they would never understand me, never accept Ryder as my mate. But I didn't care. I was done being controlled, done being told what to do and who to be with. Ryder squeezed my hand, his grip tight and reassuring. "We'll figure it out," he said, his voice low and steady. "We'll find a way to stop the rogue wolves and ensure you're safe." I nodded, feeling a sense of determination wash over me. We would do it, no matter what my parents said or did. We would find a way to make this work. As we walked, the trees seemed to grow taller and darker around us, casting long shadows across the forest floor. I could feel the moon rising above us, its light casting an otherworldly glow over everything. "Where are we going?" Ryder asked, his eyes scanning the surroundings. "I don't know," I admitted. "I just know I can't go back there. Not now." Ryd

Carrie’s POV “Please give me a moment with my daughter.” my mother said, dragging me away from Ryder and prying eyes.“You cannot accept him as your mate, Carrie.” she insisted, and I felt my blood boil through my veins. Was she being serious? The moon goddess had paired me with Ryder for a reason! How could she expect me to ignore that? I took a deep breath and tried to calm myself down, but my mind was racing with thoughts of Ryder and the danger he was in. I knew my parents were trying to protect me, but I couldn't shake the feeling that they didn't understand.“Carrie, your mother is correct. We don't know him at all. He could be anyone.” my father agreed with my mother. Not that I could expect anything different since they never disagreed over anything. "MOTHER, FATHER! Please," I said, trying to reason with them. "Ryder is trying to help us. He's willing to put his life on the line to protect us. He knows what he is talking about. Why won't you give him a chance?
