Aaron’s POV

My heart pounded as I waited for my father's response. His revelation sent shockwaves through the room, and Isla's expression turned from confusion to anger. Coming to stand beside her, I wrapped my arm protectively around her waist, silently reassuring her that I was on her side.

"What are you talking about, Father?" I demanded, my voice filled with a mix of anger and curiosity.

Alpha Leon sneered, a malicious gleam in his eyes as he taunted us. "Oh, you didn't think I knew, did you? The truth about Isla's past, the darkness that lies within her."

I tightened my hold on Isla, my protectiveness surging at my father's words. "Tell us, then. What are you trying to insinuate?"

He smiled triumphantly, relishing in the chaos he was causing. "Isla is not what she seems. She's a dangerous hybrid, a threat to our pack's purity. I planned to rid ourselves of her and all the hybrids that plague us."

I felt Isla tense in my arms, her breathing growing shallow. My father

Isla’s POV I could hardly believe how my mother had threatened to kill Aaron’s father. I knew he deserved to be punished for his part, but I hadn't expected her to go all crazy like that. I was glad Aaron and Nigel could put Leon in the cells for now. He needed to face his actions the same way that Mrs Jenkins had. "Luna Isla. Listen. I need to tell you something important.” Sasha said quietly, interrupting my thoughts as we walked together. “What is it?” I asked, glancing at her and noticing how worried she seemed. I waited for her to answer, not expecting what came out of her mouth. “We believe we have found the warlock," Sasha revealed, her voice filled with urgency. We ascended to where the babies were sleeping, their surroundings heavily guarded. The gravity of her words hit me like a sudden wave, causing my eyes to widen in both shock and determination. I instinctively gripped the handrail, seeking its support. “I can not believe it,” I whispered in surprise,

Isla’s POV As I stood on the threshold of the warlock's chamber, a chill wind swept through my hair, carrying with it murmurs of whispered incantations. I braced myself, the glow of the amethyst crystal in my hand growing stronger. The power surged within me, a fusion of the wolf's instinctual prowess and the ancient craft of a witch. Locking eyes with the warlock, I could see the satisfaction in his twisted sneer. "So, Miss Isla, you've come to meet your end, my dear hybrid witch," he taunted. Unfazed, I declared firmly, "I have come for answers and justice." Despite the storm swirling around us, my voice remained steady and persistent. The warlock's sneer deepened, his eyes gleaming with malice. "Answers? What could you possibly seek that I would willingly provide?" he spat. My eyes narrowed, my hybrid powers rippling with intensity. "Identities! Secrets! The truth behind your wicked machinations!" I proclaimed. "You have plagued this realm with dark magic for far too lo

Seventeen years later: Chapter One: Carrie “Carrie?” I called out as I saw her stomping past the window. She did not stop, but a few moments later, I heard my mother enter the room. She looked exhausted and drained. I knew then that they must have had yet another disagreement. My father, Alpha Aaron, was away on a business meeting and had left me to help my mother with anything she needed. “Luke, did you see where Carrie went?” she looked worried, and I was sure Carrie would not want to be disturbed if she were in a terrible mood. Everyone in our pack knew how bad Carrie’s temper could be. “I saw her storming out the front door,” I replied, feeling a sense of guilt, knowing I should probably go after her and make sure she was okay. But I also knew Carrie needed space when upset, so I hesitated. My mother sighed and rubbed her temples, clearly feeling the strain of dealing with my sister’s temper. “I wish she would just talk to me instead of running off like this,” she murmured.

Luke’s POV “I love her, I do, but I can't see her letting me ever grow up.” Carrie sulked as she threw herself onto my bed and let out a loud shriek of anger. I sat down next to Carrie, giving her a sympathetic look. I knew that my mother's protectiveness could sometimes feel suffocating, significantly, as we grew older and wanted to explore the world around us. “I understand, Carrie. It can be frustrating to feel like you're not being given the chance to grow and experience things on your own,” I said softly, placing a comforting hand on her shoulder. “But remember, our mother only wants what's best for us. She’s just worried about our safety,” I added, trying to offer some perspective on our mother's actions. Carrie let out a frustrated sigh, her emotions running high. “I know, I know. But sometimes I wish she would trust me more and let me spread my wings a little,” she lamented, her eyes filled with sadness. “I’ll talk to Mother and see if we can work something out,” I prom

The morning sun had just begun to peek over the rolling hills, casting a warm glow over the lush forest surrounding us. But the scene's beauty did little to calm the storm of emotions raging within me.News had arrived from our patrol officers of an impending attack by a rival pack hellbent on conquering our lands and subjugating our people. • Her Rejection, His Regret    Chapter Four

Isla’s POV As the morning sun crested over the horizon, I watched our pack begin mobilising for the impending battle. Wolves of all ages moved with grim determination, their usually melodic howls taking on a haunting tone as they prepared for warfare. I made my way through the camp, my sharp gaze scanning the flurry of activity. Warriors were donning crude armour crafted from bone, leather, and wood - meagre protection but essential against the brutal force we would soon face.Luke appeared at my side, his expression a hardened mask mirroring my own. "The warriors are ready, Mother. We await your command."I nodded, focusing on the largest gathering - able-bodied wolves too old for battle ushering pups, elders, and nursing mothers toward the hidden caverns that would serve as their sanctuary. A familiar pang of worry twisted in my gut, watching the most vulnerable among us shuffling into those dark crevices. But it was a necessary evil - their only path to survival on this day. A

With every heartbeat, the anticipation surged through us, amplifying each flicker of power as we stood against him, determined to banish the darkness that had haunted the edges of our lives. “Enough!” he roared, charging at me, the darkness pooling around him in a furious torrent. I could feel the malevolence radiating off him like heat from a fire, trying to instil fear within our hearts. Yet, as he bore down on me, I could see the uncertainty behind that ferocity. He was no longer the predator; he was desperate. “Together!” I shouted again, urging my pack to rally. Carrie and Ryder poured their strength into the barrier of light that Rachel had conjured, reinforcing it as we prepared for his assault. As the black wolf lunged toward me, time seeme

Our shared bond pulsed like a heartbeat, commanding me to fight back.“You think you can break free?” the black wolf taunted, his voice echoing through the night like thunder. “This realm belongs to the darkness now!”Ignoring his bravado, I focused on the shared energy radiating from my packmates. Each heartbeat was a reminder of what we stood to lose. We were more than just a collection of wolves—we were a family woven together by our struggles, victories, and unbreakable bonds. “Together!” I shouted, pulling every ounce of strength from my soul and feeling the power surge to the surface. “We won’t give in!”

I could see that a cautious acceptance was slowly replacing my mother's worry, but I couldn't shake the feeling that something more sinister was lurking beyond our immediate concerns. We gathered the rest of the pack for an emergency meeting, each member looking apprehensive. The day's events had spread like wildfire, and now everyone was on edge. I stood before them, clearing my throat to capture their attention.“I know today was a close call,” I began, my voice steady despite the adrenaline rush still coursing through me. “But we are stronger than we realise. The rogues won’t just back off easily. They will come again, and when they do, we need to be prepared.”Ryder stepped forward, his eyes flashing with intensity. “I suggest we step up patrols immediately. Luke’s pov We returned to the pack, exhausted but determined. Our parents were already there, discussing the situation with the other pack members. "I think we should split our pack into smaller groups and patrol the surrounding areas," my father suggested. "We need to catch these rogues off guard and take them down before they can do any more harm." I nodded in agreement. "I think that's a good idea, father. But we also need to come up with a plan to protect Carrie. She's the key to this whole thing." Carrie looked up at me, her eyes still flashing with anger. "I don't need protection," she growled. "I can take care of myself." But I knew that wasn't true. The rogues were too strong, too cunning. She needed our help to stay safe. Even if she was powerful and able to beat anyone down. We still needed to protect her as she got used to her powers and understood them better. Ryder suddenly stepped forward. "I'll stay with her," he said. "We'll keep her safe, no matter wha

I wouldn't let anything happen to her, and as the future alpha, I had to stand my ground. “What do you want from this pack? Why don't you leave and never return? You're not welcome here.” I growled as the prominent rogue leader finally stood before us. He eyed me curiously before a cunning smirk formed on his face. “You came to the city. Your sister came after you. She was nice enough to leave her portal open so we could return here. What we want is behind you.” he answered gruffly. I glanced to my side and realised that he was referring to Carrie. He wanted Carrie. All this was about my sister. “We have been searching for her for many years now. What was his story? And what did he have to do with my sister? My mother's words echoed in my mind - "stop her". But I knew it was too late. Carrie was determined to follow her heart, regardless of anyone else's thoughts. And as much as I wanted to protect her, I knew that trying to stop her would only push her further away.I turned back to my parents, who stared at me with worry and despair. My father's expression was etched with concern, while my mother's face was wet with tears."Luke, please," she said, her voice shaking. "You have to talk to her. Carrie’s POV I could feel the weight of my parents' disapproval bearing down on me as we walked away from them. I knew they would never understand me, never accept Ryder as my mate. But I didn't care. I was done being controlled, done being told what to do and who to be with. Ryder squeezed my hand, his grip tight and reassuring. "We'll figure it out," he said, his voice low and steady. "We'll find a way to stop the rogue wolves and ensure you're safe." I nodded, feeling a sense of determination wash over me. We would do it, no matter what my parents said or did. We would find a way to make this work. As we walked, the trees seemed to grow taller and darker around us, casting long shadows across the forest floor. I could feel the moon rising above us, its light casting an otherworldly glow over everything. "Where are we going?" Ryder asked, his eyes scanning the surroundings. "I don't know," I admitted. I took a deep breath and tried to calm myself down, but my mind was racing with thoughts of Ryder and the danger he was in. I knew my parents were trying to protect me, but I couldn't shake the feeling that they didn't understand.“Carrie, your mother is correct. We don't know him at all.
