Ed raised his eyebrows as he came closer to me and stopped by the bed's side.

"Isla, I am sorry how things have turned out for us, but I honestly am trying to process all of this, as are

you. Your mother is also sorry." he sighed and twitched his nose.

"If I knew that you were my daughter, things would have been so much more different!" he told me with a

hint of sadness in his eyes.

I looked away, not wanting to think about how crazy this all was. But as for my mother, well, so-called

mother. Where was she right now? Why was she not the one explaining all of this to me?

"OK, so where is she now? Why is she not here explaining herself to me?" I demanded to know, slightly

surprised by my confidence.

"I told her that I would speak to you first. Since I am sure that you have plenty of questions. I have

watched you grow for five years and always believed in you. That Miller did you all wrong and

Max is determined to go to war on Pembroke."
