This Isn’t Over

It’s Monday morning. Amanda woke up early, determined to make an impression. She rushed to the kitchen even before Martha, the maid, could get there and started brewing coffee. She opted for a more revealing outfit—a low-cut blouse and a short skirt—hoping to catch Damien’s attention.

Damien came downstairs, still groggy from sleep. He stopped short when he saw Amanda but quickly composed himself.

“Morning, Amanda,” he said, trying to keep his voice steady.

“Good morning, Damien!” Amanda replied cheerfully, flashing a bright smile. “I made coffee. Hope you’re hungry for breakfast too.”

“Thanks,” Damien said, sitting at the table. He glanced at the food, then at Amanda. “You didn’t have to go to all this trouble.”

“It’s no trouble,” Amanda said with a wave of her hand. She sat down across from him, leaning forward slightly. “I like cooking. And it’s nice to have company.”
