My heart flipped in my chest, and panic consumed me. What if Sawyer had woken up and decided to look for me? What would I say if he asked why I was in his office? I turned around and gulped but couldn’t see anyone in sight outside the door. Still, I could tell there was someone on the second floor because I could hear murmuring.

Taking slow and cautious steps, I walked out of the office and locked it, but the eeriness persisted. I wanted to sprint downstairs because it appeared I wasn’t in the view of whoever was there. But then curiosity got the better of me, and I wanted to see who it was.
