Chapter 69

Maya’s POV

I had been to N.Z. only once before and as I donned my clothes behind a cluster of trees, I was reminded of why I never liked the place.

At every corner, surveillance cameras blinked red, and there was an irritating hum which never seemed to cease. I could already feel a headache forming.

The General Mall was a hallmark of sorts and people usually had no problem finding it which I assumed was why Theo used it as a reference for finding our rendezvous café.

Finding the café should have been a piece of cake then but it wasn’t because like I said I had been here only one time before now and I had been bartending for a function that had kept me occupied the whole night and the next day, I was dead on my feet with no desire to explore the novel territory.

So it was no surprise when I got to Haven at a quarter past four several wrong turns later and with a stitch in my side.
