Author's Note: Now we have Zade's POV here to see how he came across Elaine!! Zade's POV FLASHBACK Rolling my luggage out of the airport, I saw a hand waving at me. It was Ray, an old time friend. Ray had dirty blonde hair with hazel eyes, but he never showed them, his eyes were always closed.
“Damn! Are they trying to throw someone off the bridge? They are trying to commit murder.” He cursed, stopping the car at the side of the bridge. They hadn't noticed us coming. “Don't curse in my car. I could throw you out right now.” I threw him a glare, turning again to face the road. Ray rolle
Elaine's Pov “Alright then, I'll give you two options, Elaine. First, you can leave and you'll look for ways to be able to fend for yourself or you stay and then you'll be able to find the resources that would give you the power to take revenge on those who had wronged you. Now, what will you choose, Elaine?” I wanted revenge. And so, that's what I said. Revenge. But I never counted on my revenge being like this. What I was doing out of the country where I had been given birth to and then in front of Zade's company, I had no idea about. But one thing was for sure, I couldn't back out. So I took a deep breath and slightly touched the mask I wore to cover up my face, leaving just my eyes visible. Courtesy of Zade, this disguise was perfect, no one would recognise me, not even the people I used to know which was really the point. I was supposed to meet Zade inside, to start my new job as his personal assistant, or more like a secretary. I hesitated for a brief second, then forc
Elaine's POVI yelled, shocked out of my mind. Zade nodded and moved to stand up from his seat and he began walking towards the door. My hands shot out to hold his wrists, “Where are you going?” “You said I should fire her, that's what I'm about to do.” I stared at him dumbfoundedly, he took the chance to intertwine our fingers together, “You just said, ‘Fire her’, Elaine.” He sighed, acting like I was the one that was out of my mind. “No! I didn't say fire her, like fire fire her! It was a question! I was surprised! Ugh, come on Zade just forget about it. You brought me to a whole new country and you didn't explain why, I'm still confused as to what I'm really doing here.” Zade raised an eyebrow, his lips quirking into a subtle smile as he leaned back against his desk, fingers still gently tangled with mine, "You’re here because I want you here.” He said simply, his deep voice sending a shiver down my spine. I let out a small groan of frustration, "Zade, that’s not an an
Elaine's POV “If I mess this up, I hope you don't blame me for it, Zade.” I grumbled under my breath as I typed slowly on the computer, hissing when I made a mistake and then cancelling it. Staring at what I had written on the screen, I became even angrier and deleted everything. “Ugh! I can't even figure out what to do, it's like there is air inside my brain.” I threw my head back, leaning fully on the chair, staring at the ceiling. I was so confused on what to do, how to approach Erica Wolfe and make her come over to Zade's side. I was pretty sure that this was something Zade could do on his own under a few hours but me? Nothing was coming. I had gone through all of Erica's database and although I figured out what she likes, how to approach her was still a mystery to me. She loved martial arts but I know nothing about it. Archery as well, and as for painting… I glanced at my hands, flexing them a bit but frowning when a sharp pain went up my wrists. I couldn't paint anymor
Zade dug into his pocket and pulled out a dark card which he handed to me. I took it, confused as to what sort of card it was. “Why is this black?” I raised the card up, looking it around, I had never seen this type of card before, “It's not like the normal credit cards? Would this work? You're n
Elaine's POV I turned around to fix my mask in place, and when I was done, I walked into the auction house, preparing myself for whatever was to come. When I entered inside, two people came to meet me; two women. “Hello Miss, welcome to the DeClare Auction House,” One of the women greeted with a polite smile. She gestured towards the other lady who stood a few feet away from her, “She will show you to your seat, we hope you enjoy the evening.” I nodded my thanks, my gaze swept over the crowded hall. It was buzzing with murmured conversations and the soft padded walks on the floor. Every now and then, I caught glimpses of curious eyes turning my way, assessing me and probably why I was masked. “This way, miss.” The attendant said, stopping beside an empty seat near the front. I started to lower my voice into it when a sharp voice cut through the air. “Excuse me.” I looked up to see a tall woman, not as tall as I was, but still tall nonetheless, with light brown hair and brown
Elaine's POV “That's…” She whispered, her voice shaking in disbelief as she stared at the card in my hands, “ How… How were you able to get your hands on something like that?!” She yelled, crazed. It looked like the gears in her head were turning, and a wide smirk suddenly made her lips widen. “You country bumpkin! You must have stolen it and pretended to be the owner of it! Someone, get her! Take that card away from her and bring it to me. Let's determine if it's real or not!” She said excitedly, her eyes gleaming. I gasped inwardly, “You… If you continue to slander me, I won't take it lightly with you.” I said to her bravely but I was actually panicking. If she took the card away from me, how would I explain it to Zade? Thinking about what he would say, I held the card even more tightly in my palms, shifting back when two men began to advance towards me. The woman's eyes glittered with triumph when she saw my hesitation, taking it as a sign that I was lying. Just as the men go
“What?” “Is that any way to greet your father, Zade?” His deep voice drawled, a mixture of condescension and feigned warmth. “I don’t see the point of niceties when I know you’re only calling to dictate something I’ll refuse.” I replied sharply. He chuckled darkly, the sound grating against my
Elaine's Pov “So, what next? That woman isn't going to give up, is she?” I questioned, crossing my arms. Elijah had given me the picture of her family, sister, father and assistant and they looked like a bunch of people who never gave up on something they wanted. I could see it in their eyes too.
Jenny was sitting near her back, her hands working her magic in her back, kneading away all the knots and tension in her shoulders. She met her sister’s gaze briefly before lowering her head. “Jenny, leave us.” Mila ordered but no one moved. Mila narrowed her eyes, “Jenny.” “Mila. Say whatever y
Author's Pov “Have you been able to meet the Delacroix Family? What did they say?” The instant Mila entered the car, she was asked by her assistant, Jenna, Jenny's twin. Jenna and Jenny are a part of the family that had served the Hall family for years. Their older brother, Joshua was Mila’s fat
Elaine's Pov As we walked through the grand hallways toward the west wing, my mother glanced at me with a mixture of pride and concern. "You handled Celeste well, but tread carefully.” She said softly, "She doesn’t take kindly to being challenged, and she has a way of making her enemies regret i
The weight of her words hung in the air, but I met her gaze steadily. If she thought she could intimidate me, she was sorely mistaken. “Don’t worry.” I said calmly, “I intend to.” Turning back to my mother, fully intending on ignoring the woman who just barged into the room, I continued speaking,
Elaine Pov “Yes, Master. You and him are a thing, or are you not?” The butler questioned, his eyes drifting from me to Zade and back. I flushed, my face going an amazing shade of red, “Yeah… We are… A thing. Anyways, is mom in?” “Yes. They have been waiting for you for a while. Please come with
Elaine's Pov “Ahh!! I'm back at the capital.” Elaine took a deep breath, taking in the clean air of the capital. It was shocking how the air was cleaner at the capital than at West Drewire. “Did you have to bring so many things?” Zade complained as he locked the trunk of the car, leaning his bod
Author's Pov “So, what you are saying is that Zade Silver is coming back in a few weeks? Where did you get that information from?” “He's wrapping up things in his company at Phoenix and coming back to the capital with his ‘Masked’ Secretary. That was the exact word that Old Sir had gotten from h
