Alejandro's Point of View

She was still in the clothes I had last seen her in. Looked radiant. Except for the bruises around her neck. Red lines went from one side of her neck to the other. They contrasted her pale skin horribly.

If it weren't for those red lines, I never would have known something was wrong. My mom looked like she was sleeping. Not gone from this world. Although, the beeping machine to her left indicated her heart was still going. Keeping her alive.

"Dominique has taken it one step too far," Rafael said from beside me. His hands were balled into fists. Mouth set into a grim line.

Camilo stood at my mother's feet. Stunned into silence. Even the Don was livid. If Dominique had the audacity to go after his own wife, there was no end to what he was capable of doing.
