Elena was stuck in her dreams.

She knew she was dreaming, and she felt her body, but she was trapped inside of it, and she couldn’t find a way to get out of it.

She heard someone speaking beside her bed, “She just experienced too many shocks in a short time. It stimulated her nerves. After some proper rest, she will be okay.”

It sounded like the kingdom’s doctor, Dr. Todd, but she couldn’t understand what he was doing here.

Another voice in the room whispered something to him, but Elena couldn’t make out who it was. And then there were footsteps going away. But the severe headache she was suffering started getting worse. It almost felt like someone had just split her head in half.

She knitted her forehead and cried out of pain. Someone took her hand and whispered to her gently, “Are you okay, L?”

Elena tried to open her eyes but failed. She then called the name she trusted most, “Cory…” Tears streamed down from the corners of her eyes.

Cory responded to her. He knelt beside her bed and stroked her hair, “I am here, baby. I am right here for you.”

Elena felt relieved to know he was here. She then cried without opening her eyes. “I just had this horrible dream, Cory,” she said. “I dreamed you got another girl and wanted me to be your mistress.”

There was no denial from her beloved boyfriend, just a few moments of dead silence. Elena then knew she wasn’t dreaming. Everything which was stored in her memories was all true reality. She cried again and struggled to pull her hand out of his. “Go away!” she yelled.

Cory sighed right beside her bed. He knew it wasn’t the right time to have the conversation with her. He told her, “Have some good rest, baby.” and then stood up and left.

Elena heard him walking out of the door. And pains and betrayals, and lies, all rushed back into her head. She wailed on the bed, curling herself up in unbearable anguish.

After a while, she heard Nyla sigh in her head. She asked her, “Are you alright, L?”

Elena didn’t reply, just sobbed and cried.

Nyla then said, “I know you are suffering, L. I am sorry for that. But I need you to get it together. We are in danger.”

Elena asked, snuffing, “What danger?” At that moment, she didn’t really care.

Nyla then said, “Look around, L. We are not in our bedroom!!!”

After leaving the basement of the mansion where he kept Elena, Cory went upstairs alone to the ground floor.

Gable couldn’t help but ask him, “Shouldn’t we leave two guards there in case she needs something?”

Cory denied his suggestion. “No,” he said. “Only when we leave her completely alone will she start to think straight.”

Gable frowned. He wasn’t happy about Cory’s decision. Elena and Nyla were his mates. He didn’t want to go tough on them. But Cory’s decisions were always finalized and he couldn’t find an alternative solution, so he kept silent.

When they went back to the sitting room on the first floor, a guard approached them.

“The Beta couple refused to leave, Your Majesty,” he said. “They insisted on meeting their daughter.”

Cory frowned unpleasantly. He was still mad at Orion for questioning Jasper. Surely, Orion used to be a great Beta and had made lots of contributions to the Kingdom. But he was old and stubborn and should have retired a long time ago. The only reason he was still on duty was that Cory’s father, Alpha Jordan, thought Cory needed some extra help from the elderly. Cory had a second opinion.

“Bring them in,” he said. “I will talk to them in person.”

The guard retreated and then brought the Beta couple in in a minute.

Orion’s face was dark and Eleanor was extremely nervous when they walked in. An hour ago, Elena passed out at the front door after she saw Cory. And Cory just brought Elena back to the mansion without even looking at them.

It was disrespectful and disturbing, considering Cory had already chosen that dragon princess.

“We need to see our daughter, Alpha,” after they stopped in front of Cory, Orion did the talk. “She passed out in front of us. We are worried about her. We must make sure she is okay.”

“I’ve asked Dr. Todd to check on her. She is fine now,” Cory’s tone was cold, and so did his eyes. “You can go home now. I assure you she will be taken good care of here.”

Eleanor couldn’t help but step out, “But she is our daughter, Alpha,” she said. “She is sick. She needs to stay with her family.”

“Then why don’t you tell me why she is sick?” Cory smirked. “Two hours ago, when she left the prison, she seemed fine to me. But after she went back home with you two, all of a sudden she was sick. Tell me how did that happen?”

Orion clenched his fists. He knew Cory was seeking confrontation here. Once he chose the wrong answer or made the wrong move, Cory would find an excuse to isolate Elena from them forever.

“We did the wrong thing, Alpha,” he swallowed his anger and bent his neck for his own daughter. “We shouldn’t have talked with Jasper. It was a stupid move. I am sorry.”

“Sorry for what?” Cory lifted his brows and pushed again. He had wanted this old man out of the picture for a long time. Now he finally got the chance to do it. Marrying Lennie meant getting unprecedented powerful support from dragons. From now on, no one in this kingdom could disobey him at any level. No matter if he was his father’s Beta or not.

Orion bit his teeth. The veins on his forehead bulged, but he bent his neck again, “Sorry for questioning your Beta, Your Majesty,” he said.

Having been Jordan’s Beta for over 40 years, Orion had seen enough of arrogance and greed. He knew what a man like Cory really wanted. “I had no right to do so,” he said. “I shouldn’t have done it without your permission.”

Eleanor covered her face with her hands seeing this humiliation her husband was suffering. Cory, though, curled his lips into a satisfied smile. Orion always liked to speak to him in a tone like he was the superior. Cory hated him for that.

“Now we are talking about sanity,” he said with a snort. “As punishment, I want you to drop all your work and retire from today. Any disagree?”

“No, Your Majesty,” Orion’s voice was hoarse. It was such an indignity to be discharged by a 19-year-old like that, but the only thing he cared about now was his daughter.

“I will have Jasper take over all my work by the end of the day,” he said. “Can we see Elena now?”

Cory narrowed his eyes as if contemplating, but after a few moments, he said “No”.

“The doctor said L needs some good rest without any bad stimulus, which, I assume, should be you two. For L’s sake, I forbid any of you to meet her.”

Orion’s eyes burned red. His wolf growled out of control. But Eleanor stopped him by pulling on his arm. They shouldn’t attack the wolf’s Alpha, the Kingdom’s King, in any circumstances. It would be stupid and suicidal.

“The doctor said she is okay, darling,” she said, with aggrieved tears in her eyes. “We will find another time to visit her. Let’s go back home today. Please,” She begged. And her pleading was the only thing that stopped Orion from tearing Cory’s throat open.

“Your father won’t be happy about what you are doing here, young man,” his eyes were filled with hate and anger, “Someday you will regret this.”

Cory just shrugged his shoulders. His father, Alpha Jordan, had stopped commenting on any Kingdom’s affairs since he retired a year ago. Cory took it as his father’s trust in his competency.

“Do whatever you want,” he said. “Believe it or not, the kingdom will only get better with me.”

Orion growled again but Eleanor pulled his arm and persuaded him to leave. No matter what they do or say now would only make the situation worse.

Cory watched them leave with coldness in his eyes and snorted. When he turned around to go upstairs, he saw Lennie standing there behind the railing on the second floor.

Meeting his eyes, Lennie curled her lips to a charming smile. Cory quickly ran up to her.

“Hi, sweetie,” he said. “Did I disturb you? I am sorry. It’s all because of those ungrateful dogs. Sooner or later, I will exile them to the rogues’ land.”

Lennie pouted her mouth. She placed both her hands on his shoulders. “It’s not them who is disturbing me, darling,” she said. “How about your little mate? You promised me in prison that I can have her as my maid.”

Cory pressed his lips. At first, he wasn’t fond of this idea either. Elena was the Beta’s daughter, not just some Omega. But then Lennie said in that way she would allow him to sleep with Elena as all he liked. What the hell. He thought. Elena needed him just as much as he needed her. Eventually, she would concede.

“I am working on it,” he said, pulling Lennie’s hands to his lips, and then kissed them, “Just give me some time, sweetie. I promise I will make her your best maid.”

Lennie puckered her lips unhappily. She then slid her hand on his chest, finger circling his strong muscles, “Then please me with the right answer.”

Looking up at him, Lennie licked her plump lips seductively. Cory felt his pants bulge, but he couldn’t do it now. They did it at the dragon’s palace because that place had some kind of magic power that could block the mate bond. Here back in his own kingdom, he had to be concerned with Elena.

He didn’t want to push her too hard, at least, not until she had agreed to stay for him.

“Give me three days,” his voice was hoarse with desire. “I promise by then you will have to beg me to stop.”

“Look around, L. We are not in our bedroom!!!”The moment she heard that, Elena suddenly sobered up from her devastating headache. She rolled up from the bed and observed, and then found that she was in a completely strange room. There were no lights on right now. She could only see some simple furniture vaguely. But she knew it wasn’t night outside. Because from the narrow window above her bed came dim daylight.“It’s a basement,” Nyla explained. “And there are silver bars blocking the window, and the door is iron. I bet we can’t open it from the inside.”Elena responded to her with nothing. She just got up from bed and then went to check the door. As Nyla had guessed, it was locked from the outside. She put her hand on the doorknob and pulled it. It wouldn’t open.“He locked us here, L,” Nyla cried. There was a rare trace of panic tinged her voice.Nyla was a competent wolf, always giving her mature advice and acting composedly. And when she started to panic, Elena knew they must ha

Cory had changed. The moment Elena saw that dangerous flash flicking through his eyes, she realized Cory had changed into a different person. Each time, when he showed up in front of her, he became more aggressive than before. Each day, the ego inside him grew bigger and bigger. His engagement with Lennie was like a demoniac key that unleashed this hidden beast inside him. Now he had gotten support from dragons. He had become powerful. He didn’t need to play by the rules anymore. And he didn’t need to pretend to be caring or ethical either. When you can get something by intimidation and threats, why bother to coax and act?The moment she saw that ice in Cory’s eyes, Elena knew she was doomed. She watched Cory walk out of the basement, and then heard him lock the door from outside. Her body went cold out of fear. Tears streamed down from the corners of her eyes. She knew she might never find a way to get out of this, but she couldn’t just give up like that. She could never share he

After Cory said that, he bent over and scooped Elena up from the floor. He carried her in between his arms in the bridal style which was very familiar to Elena. Only this time, she wasn’t looking at him, but at his neck. The lights on the roof of the hallway were very bright. It clearly presented every vein and muscle on his neck. Cory kept his head high, looking straight to the front, which exposed his artery. Elena had this strong impulse to bite it. Cory was an Alpha, but his wolf wasn’t that strong, not even half as strong as his father. Which was the main reason why he had been amiable to everyone around him before Lennie came. It was kind of the elephant in the room, the truth no one was allowed to mention in this kingdom. Elena fought him a few times during the training back when they were still teenagers. She wasn’t a feisty warrior, but she had the confidence to give him a fatal strike. As long as she sank her teeth deep enough, and shredded his neck completely when no one

The next day, when Elena woke up, she felt she had fully recovered. The dragon’s cure was very effective. She didn’t feel sick and weak anymore.Aurora and Bella brought a maid's suit to her, which was very different from the colorful but thin dresses they were wearing. Bella comforted her, “Don’t take it too personally. You attacked Lennie and tore her face. Of course, she will pick on you. The thing is, Lennie never attaches to things, neither good nor bad. She moves on very easily. As long as you play along with her, don’t go against her will, she will get bored in literally three days and forget about you. What happens next will depend on you and your king. You know what I mean.”Elena nodded her head. She knew those dragon girls would be partial to Lennie, but it didn’t really matter. Like Bella had suggested, her true enemy was Cory, not Lennie. She must escape from the kingdom and cut the connection with him.“My parents,” Elena asked, “did you get in touch with them? What did

Following all those dragon girls downstairs, Elena surprisingly found that instead of the dining hall, they went directly to the garden outside from the side door.It was late spring. The weather just started getting hot, but the plants hadn’t decided to go green yet. Withered weeds were everywhere and half of those trees were still bald. Lennie somehow found herself a place for a huge sunshade.A red carpet decorated by golden threads was under her feet, and in front of her was a long dining table for more than a dozen people. Lennie was sitting in a big luxurious armchair like she was already the Queen. Several wolf maids wearing exactly the same uniform as Elena were standing behind her with their heads lowered, waiting humbly. Ashely was the first one to step forward and saluted Lennie.“Your Highness,” she came to the side of Lennie’s chair and lifted up her thin dress along with an elegant bow.Lennie then gave her hand to Ashely for her to kiss. When their eyes connected, Ele

“What second chance mate? What are you talking about?” That was a totally unexpected answer. Elena was stunned, “We haven’t rejected Cory yet. How could we ever find a second chance mate? That’s not how it works.”“I don’t know,” Nyla’s tone became a little anxious. “I just have this feeling, Okay? We are going to the Rogue’s land anyway. Our parents are there, remember? So why not let Lennie sell us? I am sure she can find a way to bypass Cory. It’s two birds with one stone. Why not give it a try?”“Because we are civilized persons with dignity. We don’t sell our peers and we don’t allow ourselves to be sold,” Elena couldn’t believe what she had just heard. “Don’t you know what happens to sold people? They got slave marks on their necks, chains and shackles on their limbs. They will never be free again. They will never belong to themselves. They will get masters to tell them what to do. They might spend the rest of their lives in cages. Do you really want that kind of life?! Do you

Amidst the most furious rainstorm of the year, in the middle of one of the darkest nights, a young girl in a white dress was stuck into the last wagon which was heading towards the rogues’ land on that day.A newly branded triangle mark was on her neck which showed her number was 10712, and a bronze anklet on her left ankle classified her as one of those lowly Omega girls. But there was another thin silver anklet on top of that bronze one. It symbolized she came from a high-ranked family and could sell for a good price. The loader put a pair of heavy shackles on both her feet and locked the chain to the hook in the middle of the floor. After counting the number of those sold girls one more time, he locked the door from outside and yelled to the driver to start off.Once the wagon started moving, the rainstorm outside became less scary. Some of those girls started to whisper to each other, but most of them were staring at that new girl who was passing out facedown on the floor.“Do you

  • Her Fated Alphas   Chapter 14

In the city named Skylinea, there was no daylight throughout the year. Every morning at 7 o’clock, the Rogue Alpha woke up in his bed amidst deep darkness as if it was still in the middle of the night. He stared at the plastered white ceiling for a while, and sat up, walked into the bathroom to freshen up. And then, he went into the kitchen, and started to cook breakfast. One cup of milk, two fried eggs, some bacon and onions, and broccoli. It was the breakfast he had at his human home on the day of his 18th birthday. And it was his last meal as a normal human teenager also. “When are you going to get over it?” After he set the plate on the dining table and sat down on the chair, his wolf Raven started to question him, again. “It has been 3 years. When are you going to stop drinking that stupid milk and get some real wolf food?!” The Alpha didn’t answer him. He just sat there, quietly eating his eggs. Those tall street lamps outside the building were really bright.

It’s not your fault,” he said, and his voice was so gentle, “It’s nobody’s fault. No one could foresee this to happen.”Lennie shook her head. She held her brother’s hand with both her hands and leaned on it with her forehead. She knew it was time to tell him the truth, and she felt so sorry and regretful that she had to disappoint him. “I am sorry, Simon,” she raised her head, looked towards her brother, and confessed, “I killed Cory the other day because I want to have my own kingdom. I want to be a real Queen, Simon. I am sorry, but I just … want it.”Simon’s face turned pale. His heart sank. No matter what horrible mistakes Lennie had made, he would forgive her as long as she didn’t mean to be bad. They all would. But

Hearing Lennie’s “confession”, Elena knitted her brows. Nyla whispered in her head, “She is lying again.”Elena knew but she didn’t interrupt. She knew Simon would naturally trust Lennie more than her and she was just here to make sure the necklace to be destroyed. She needed to save Ragnar first. Simon widened his eyes. He recognized it was the necklace Lennie had been wearing since she was a child. But he couldn’t understand how a necklace could threaten people. “What does it mean, Little one?” he asked, but in a soft tone, “You have to explain to me first.”Lennie sniffed, wiping her tears with the back of her hand, and then explained, “There is a werewolf living in the necklace. His name is Tyron. He is the ancestor of the wolf brothers. He started to speak to me in my head after I turned 18. He threatened me to kill all the wolves, the old wolf king, Cory and his big brother, Ragnar. He hated them for some reason. He wanted to destroy the wolf kingdom. And he is very powerful,

The moment Lennie locked her eyes with Elena, she clenched her fists. She had never expected to meet Elena at her own home, and she didn’t like it when Elena spoke of her necklace in front of all the others. It was supposed to be her secret. She stared at the unexpected guest and smirked, coldly.“How dare you come to my home, you pathetic loser? You are not welcome here,” she said. Elena didn’t reply right away. She took off her cloak and passed it to Brian, and then said to the dripping princess in an indifferent tone, “I wouldn’t call myself a winner if it was my mate who poisoned my brothers.” She had just learned from Jack that, not only Alex, Lennie’s youngest brother, Liam, was affected by the snow too. Lennie clenched her fists even tighter. She hated what Elena was suggesting here. She wasn’t Zeno’s mate. She was a dragon. She was herself. She would never be anyone’s mate. “I guess there is a reason why your stupid ex put you into that hospital,” she said contemptuously,

Lennie was in a huge fury. The meeting place she agreed with Elena was where she escaped from Ragnar the day before. She reached the same place long before sunset and observed the whole place carefully in order to catch Elena. Her permit to the wolf kingdom had been deactivated. But to make the exchange, she and Elena, one of them, must cross the border. She knew Elena wouldn’t come into the dragon’s land, but it didn’t matter. She brought a special plant with her. It looked like a piece of dead vine, but was actually alive. Once the vine reached its target, it would grow rapidly to wrap the target up and then drag the target back to its owner. Her third brother, Simon, brought it to her from one of his mysterious trips years ago as a toy. Lennie hadn’t played with it for a long time. It took her a while to dig it out from her piles of precious gifts. She then carefully twined the necklace on that vine. If Elena wanted the necklace, then she would have to take the vine with it and tou

“Who is that?”Noticing Elena had turned back, Chris reined the horse too and came near her.Elena didn’t reply. She was hesitating whether to check it or not.The sun had already gone under the horizon. Lennie should have already found that she didn’t go to the borderline to exchange the necklace. She must get in touch with dragons before Lennie figured out what she intended to do.And they only had two horses. It wasn’t that easy to help an unconscious person.Chris made no further comment, waiting for her decision.Elena hesitated for like 5 seconds, and then got off the horse and walked closer to that person. The snow had covered most of his body. The blood-curdling screams and curses were horrifying. Lennie felt cold sweat had soaked through the clothes on her back. At the same time, she was being enveloped by another ball of white light. The next moment, she was sent back to the library. She found she was sitting on the carpeted floor with that old book on her lap, at exactly the same posture as before she was transported. Only now the book on her lap was wide open. But all its pages were blank like nobody had ever recorded anything on it. Lennie quickly figured out the book was spell-protected. Someone put a spell on the book which required certain keys to read the secret in it. And the necklace she placed right beside her leg was just the key. That young, but gut-wrenching voice was still echoing in her ears. Lennie took a deep breath to get it out of her head, and then bent over a little to pick the necklace up from the floor. This time she didn’t touch the ruby pendant, but used the silvery chain to lift it. Back to five hundred years ago, in the dragon’s castle of the dragon kingdom. One of the most powerful dragon leaders, and the sole Dragon Queen in dragon history, the fire dragon, Vivian, was sitting on her throne, quietly, alone. She used her left hand to prop her head, leaning against that magnificent but cold, stone seat. The winter afternoon sunlight ran through the broken ceiling, fell upon a bunch of debris on the floor. The whole place looked more like a ruin than a royal palace. She sat there, completely alone, still, staring at that sunlight and those remnants on the floor. After a while, a transitory shimmer shone through the egg-sized ruby on the necklace she was wearing, but she didn’t notice it. At the same time, a strong, bearded male dragon walked into the tumbledown door frame, and then bowed to her. “The second of the Tinsley brothers asked to meet you, Your Majesty,” the male dragon said. His voice was thick and heavy, and echoed in this ruined throne hall. Th

Except for herself, no one should have known the power Zeno possessed. Elena answered quickly and calmly, “In case your mysterious friend hasn’t told you. He is actually a werewolf and belongs to us. He is a property of the wolf kingdom, Princess. That’s why we want him back.”Lennie bit her bottom lip. She had already known Zeno was a werewolf from their conversation yesterday. But if Elena knew Zeno was a werewolf too, it would be a different story. There must be something special about Zeno. She thought for a few seconds, and then said, “Fine, you can have my necklace.
